Oh so thats what the title means. (Still sounds like a soft drink to me) Anyways this was a nice interlude. I always enjoy a close relationship that's not romantic. Yoshiko and Riko have some nice chemistry and its it shows well in how you write it in this setting. Good stuff
Haha, maybe you should invent a soft drink based on that word then (or maybe LLS staff can name Dia’s theme-drink that).
I myself enjoy non-romantic close relationships as well, hence all the platonic yohariko, yoshiruby, youhane etc. I’ve fit in the main plot. While yes I do enjoy these ships romantically in other AUs/set-ups, here in LLSHP AU they certainly share a bond like family. Glad you like how they’re portrayed ^_^

Best Aqours girls I guess
So my biggest Stan @meme-emperor told me I should list my favourite to least Aqours girls.
1. Riko Sakurauchi
Holy shit have you even seen my blog I fucking adore her more than anything in the world if I knew how to crytype like a true master I would just be crytyping about her. To be a tad less “I wuv her so fuvking much”, I wholeheartedly believe that Riko has unquestionably the best character development in Love Live as a franchise. She’s so obviously a completely different person from the start of season 1 to the end of season 2, but it feels like a completely believable, natural and human development. She’s also fucking beautiful and easily has the best cards in SIF. Have you seen literally any Riko UR? She’s fucking perfection. And Jesus Christ, her voice is incredible. It’s not my favourite Love Live voice, or even my favourite Aqours voice, but like the only song she sounds iffy to me in is Sunshine Pikkapikka Ondo, but I don’t like that song anyway so whatevs. Riko is also my most shippable Love Live girl. I mean, I only really have one ship per character, with Maki, Honk and Riko being exceptions, but this is an Aqours list so Riko is the only one of those three that matters. Specifically, I ship ChikaRiko, YouRiko, YohaRiko, and to a lesser extent RikoMaru. Have I said I love her so much yet? I can hardly even fathom how Love Live made such an incredible character, and I can hardly begin to describe how much I love her. Riko feels the most human out of everyone in Love Live, in fact. Especially when placed beside the likes of Datenshi Yohane. Speaking of…
2. Mari Ohara
Oh, get fucking blue balled reader. Yeah, Mari became number 2. Mari is incredibly likeable throughout all of season 1, with her occasional breast grabs being her only actual flaw. These were toned down in to nonexistence in season 2, thankfully, and Mari also became a much stronger character. Mari was already pretty fuckin’ great in season 1, and never failed to be funny ignoring the aforementioned tit fondling, but season 2 balances the joking Mari incredibly well with the occasionally serious Mari. Mari’s role as Director was virtually non-existent in season 1, but it’s a pretty major part of her characters and several plot moments in season 2, and I love it. Mari’s voice is also majestic. Shadow gate to love, anyone?
3. Yoshiko Tsushima
Can you tell I like Guilty Kiss? This gorgeous girly here was number 2 before season 2 made Mari that much better and made Yohane that much, well, worse. Of course, @meme-emperor already went into brief detail regarding how season 2 affected Yohane’s character, and I could probably write up my own miniature essay going into depth about that too, but this post should be a positivity one, so let’s talk about why I love Yohane instead! She’s got a good butt for one thing. In fact, her entire aesthetic is just really pleasing. Yohane is a very pretty girl. I think her voice is unquestionably the best in Aqours, and definitely makes top 3 Love Live voices as a whole, but that list is a bitch to make so I won’t go into further detail. Yohane also has really great SIF cards, and so long as you ignore how lazy season 2 gets with her comedy, Yohane can be incredibly funny. Though in spite of her poor treatment in season 2, she occasionally has pretty great moments. And really, there’s no way I can place her below top 3. I need that Guilty Kiss top 3.
4. Dia Kurosawa
I can’t not put Dia here. Dia is fucking gorgeous and her voice is incredible. Dia’s easily the most visually appealing of all of the 3rd years in Love Live, completely blowing the 5 other 3rd years out of the water. Dia’s also consistently hilarious, and almost always steals the show in every scene she appears in. She’s also just super likeable as a person? My post from a few days ago about Dia being a shoulder to cry on got super popular for this blog, so surely some people agree with me there. I don’t really know what to say about Dia. She’s just loveable.
5. Chika Takami
I love this mikan bitch so much. Chika is incredibly cute (holy shit this is the first time I’ve said cute even though every girl on this list is unbelievably cute) and really fucking likeable. Her dumb fucking hair is wonderful and I adore her voice so much. Chika has incredible character development across both seasons and again? She’s so fucking cute! Angel Chika! Autumn Viewing Chika! Christmas v2 Chika! They are all among the cutest cards in SIF and it’s because of how fucking cute Chika is! Chika’s hard to write about because she’s a protagonist and thus like the main driving force of the series, so analysing her somewhat in depth kind of results in attempting a series review. I don’t really know what to say about Chika, I guess. I just love her so fucking much.
6. Ruby Kurosawa
This girl wasn’t great in season 1. She was really cute, and her introductory episode with Hanamaru was pretty swell, but she never really did anything and had virtually no development. She had some funny scenes regardless, such as her crushing on Yohane when she introduces herself to the class, and Ganbaruby is also really cute. But all in all, Ruby wasn’t much to write home about in season 1. But then season 2 came, and with that, it was decided that Saint Snow needed to be actual characters. The obvious route to go with this would be to have Chika help develop them, what with her being the protag and thus the only character the rivals should interact with. But they decided that wittle old Wooby should do this instead. And guess what? It was brilliant. Ruby actually gets character development and relationship development in season 2. It only helps her case that Leah gets development too, and the two can become wonderful gay girlfriends. The only problem I have with Ruby is her singing voice is occasionally atrocious (Genki Zenkai Day Day Day is a fun song but Ruby’s solo sounds fucking awful) but even that’s getting much better with every new song. Ruby would be higher if it weren’t for the fact that I like the girls above her more, but she’s still really incredible, and I understand why she tops @meme-emperor’s list.
7. You Watanabe
She used to be number 4 but season 2 had to be all “Who Watanabe” and now she’s down here. You is adorable and conventionally attractive and has a wonderful voice (though if I’m honest there are some songs she doesn’t really lend herself too well to, such as Daydream Warrior) and she, like all of the girls, is super fucking likeable. You’s genkiness and flirtatious attitude help to make her incredibly entertaining in every scene she’s in, and I absolutely love the way she interacts with Chika and Riko. Specifically her interactions with the two of them individually. ChikaRikoYou is fine, but seeing Chika and You’s dynamic in episode 1 of season 1 is incredible. Nowhere in Love Live are two character so obviously lifelong best friends, and it’s incredible. There’s less to YouRiko than ChikaYou as far as canon is concerned, but all of You’s flirting with Riko in season 1 and her confession of love in season 2 are just wonderful. The only reasons You isn’t higher are her lack of utilisation throughout most of season 2 and the weird handling of the 2nd year drama in season 1, but that’s a post for another day.
8. Kanan Matsuura
Kanan was bottom of this list in season 1, even with the genuine pros I could give her. Season 2 didn’t really develop Kanan as a character too much, but it was nice seeing her letting her hair down in season 2 (GET IT BECAUSE NOT ONLY IS SHE FAR MORE MELLOW IN SEASON 2 COMPARED TO HOW MUCH DRAMA REVOLVES AROUND HER IN SEASON 1 BUT SHE QUITE LITERALLY LETS DOWN HER FUCKING PONYTAIL AT ONE POINT IN SEASON 2 THANK GOD SHE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL) and just being more natural and likeable. There really isn’t much I get from Kanan, but the bare minimum I wanted from season 2 was for Kanan to be likeable, and that much was managed. Kanan is kind of hard to write about because, as I stated, all season 2 really did for her was make her more likeable. Alas, it did that for most everybody, so Kanan doesn’t get to be higher up in this list. Still love her though.
9. Hanamaru Kunikida
As I just stated, season 2 made almost everybody more likeable. Hanamaru is the exception to me. I’m just gonna say it straight up – season 2 made me like Hanamaru less and made me actively dislike YohaMaru. Yohane was mostly Datenshi for this whole season, but we got to see her be a little more than that on occasion, as well as develop a relationship with Riko. You was MIA for the first 10 episodes, but managed to somewhat make up for her lack of screen time with how well she does in the last 3 episodes. Hanamaru is reduced to comic relief that gets really, really irritating really, really quickly. Almost every joke is her eating food or doing something to irritate Yohane. Like the only good moments with Hanamaru in season 2 are her helping Yohane in episode 11 and talking to Ruby in that same episode, her Yohane impression in episode 5 and her talk with Chika in episode 12. That’s it. Everything else they did with Hanamaru was outright annoying to me. Remember how I praised season 2 earlier because it removes Mari’s groping jokes? That doesn’t stop Hanamaru from taking every possible opportunity to touch Yohane’s ass. Yeah, that’s really fun. Except unlike season 1 Mari, Maru doesn’t do enough good in this season to make up for shit like that. Remember how I praised You because season 1 makes it super obvious that her and Chika are childhood friends while the later episodes of season 2 reinforce this? Maru and Ruby are supposed to be best friends, but in season 2, they interact a total of, what, two times? You could remove Hanamaru entirely from season 2 and it would affect next to nothing, I guarantee it. If you chuck season 2 out of the window entirely, Hanamaru does have a lot going for her. Above all else, she’s an adorable cinnamon roll and she’s so fucking easy to like. Her voice is beautiful, and she works perfectly in every song she’s in. Unfortunately, season 2 made me straight up dislike Hanamaru, and no season of Love Live should make me dislike a girl. @meme-emperor puts Kanan low in his list because he finds her season 1 portrayal unlikeable, but Kanan at least gets the benefit of becoming likeable with time. Hanamaru does the opposite.
I was super harsh on Hanamaru there holy shit. If you like Hanamaru, please don’t take my qualms with her as an attack on you. You’re entitled to your opinion.
This list is probably subject to change because oh boy I love these girls. I had fun writing this and I hope you had fun reading it, despite the fact that I said “I don’t know what to write here” for like every girl.
#oops i wrote more about maru than the others#that's okay#chika#riko#you#kanan#mari#dia#ruby#hanamaru#yohane#5.1.18#love live#yo the word count in this post is equal to the year ww2 ended + 1
