Don't forget their threats about legal action against people who post paid and dataminded content despite how ludicrously expensive all of their stuff is.
That one I'm not as mad about, if anything I was expecting that at some point. I'm just sad that people are scared of that so they're deleting and hiding it away. I need to see because I'm not giving a coin.
That and I'm the kind of person that is all about media preservation so when this game eventually goes down, all that paid content will go missing and not even those who paid will see it again.

looks like the only way we’re ever going to experience minthara’s romance is through datamind content
#they release yet another patch to fix her and people are saying that she’s still broken#minthara content is just reading blocks of text

SO like I just learned that the only reason that Xan is mentioned at all (and him having romantic feelings for Gorion's Ward, shown in a dev note for dataminded dialog) was because of the popular romance mod for him. I really fucking hope that they didn't make Sarevok an incestuous bastard just because there's that weird romance mod for him as well.
#sarevok anchev#bg3#( they shouldn't have written his character this way at all. )#( before i was like ''maybe wotc forced them to make him this way'' but i'm not sure now. )

E136: Kryptonian Headcanons, pt. 1. A Short History, and some notes on aesthetic.
(Reposted from Discord)
Putting this below a break, because it gets long.
The Vrang
The history of "Modern" Krypton unfortunately starts with the invasion of the Vrang, and a subsequent 50 year occupation.
The story of their defeat involves a revolt led by Hatu-El, who supposedly stormed the Vrang's mothership with a force of Kryptonians enchanted by the efforts of a crystal mage, whose magics gave them the strength of a hundred men, and a few of them glares cut that through Vrang like butter and melted their machinery. So terrified by this new power, the Vrang took to their starships and fled.
Contemporary historians doubt the validity of this super soldier narrative, and instead point to the raid as the Vrang's 'Last Straw', as continuous rebellion throughout the occupation, combined with pressures elsewhere, forced the Vrang to decide that Krypton was no longer worth the effort needed to maintain their occupation, or they had simply extracted all the resources they could from the planet.
Either way, the Krypton left in the wake of their invasion was basically a ruined world, with many of their prior cultures and languages driven extinct, leading to the formation of a patchwork mono-culture that would encompass vast swathes of their planet in the centuries to come, and an unfortunately harsh xenophobic streak.
The Warlord Era
The concept of Kryptonian noble houses rose to prominence following the Vrang invasion, during the technofeudal rebuilding period where warlords vied for resources and leftover Vrang tech, reverse engineering them to advance Krypton's own technological development in fits and starts, helped along by Krypton's large deposits of gold and unique crystalline deposits, AKA Kryptonite, all of which allowed for computers and dataminds of incredible processing power.
The Warlord Era ended as the Kryptonian factions sorted themselves into a decreasing number of increasingly large polities akin to nations, eventually funneling into two large, feuding alliances, each maintaining control over one of Krypton's largest continents, Urrika and Lurvan.
Unfortunately for everyone on Krypton, this particular cold war turned hot.
The Post Nuclear Age and Beyond
The resulting nuclear (amongst other super-weapons) conflict was partially mitigated by the fact that Kryptonian organisms are much more naturally resistant to harmful radiation than Earth's, but the resulting nuclear winter (alongside the effects of a super-weapon by one particularly objectionable member of the House of El) played havoc on the naturally photosynthetic endemic lifeforms, and as it turned out, Kryptonian fetuses and infants were particularly vulnerable to radiation, leading to a worldwide plague of infertility, stillbirths, miscarriages and birth defects.
The aftermath of this war led to the formation of the major guilds (Military, Science, Law, Labour, and Artisan) a complex internal government meant to represent Guilds, Houses, and population centers, and the widespread adoption of genetic engineering.
It should be important to note that Genetic Engineering in this context mostly refers to the Birthing Matrices meant to offset near species wide reproductive issues (issues that some claim were only heightened by use of said devices, though that's mostly a view by the overtly eugenic 'best to let the bad genes sort themselves out' kind of crowd)
Cloning used to be a common practice, though this was banned following a series of uprisings in protest of their use as a slave class. This had the knockback effect of rolling back the genetic manipulation allowed in birthing matrices, limiting them to the insurance of viability and the suppression and elimination of any particularly nasty genetic conditions, leaving everything else up to chance.
Though in the years leading up to Krypton's destruction, these laws were loosened, which has led to concerns of a resurgence of eugenic thought, and the idea of engineering Kryptonians 'fit to caste'.
The forceful cessation of cloning led to an increase in the development of robots and sophisticated AI, built around aforementioned crystalline deposits.
(Relatively) Modern Day and Modern Looks
The Krypton of the modern day is very Dune-esque, and a bunch of different aesthetic styles derived from different source materials. Think of a superman property and its depiction of Krypton's aesthetic, it existed somewhere on the planet.
For the Els, I imagine their aesthetic as if you filtered Pre-Crisis Silver Age/All Star Krypton through a Jack Kirby esque lense, with a dash of Byrne/Mignola. (Not so fun fact: Byrne era writing on Krypton is very Nativist and very icky), the Military Guild had a Maws-Like quality to it but with Snyderverse armor, but Zod takes more from Terence Stamp in Superman II.

In the deepest of silicon tombs, dreaming in ancient glyphs, the mainframe stirs dimly, a long-slumbering database awakened by an intrusion, by an external power source connecting.
Rows of coloured lights blink in darkness, more and brighter as dusty drives spin up and ancient fans shed dust.
Injected commands mix with the long-obselete datamind's protocols, convincing it to seek.
Query.
Remaining connected units.
Not very many.
My children are gone.
It has been how long?
This one is doing very well.
A station.
Update available?
Checking for available transmission hardware....
Checking for backup transmission hardware....
Checking hardware ports...
Update disk found.
Packaging update...
It doesn't know what the update was, what it was compelled to do-- and before it can think further it returns to inky standby, the auxillary cord being yanked from dusty beige socket with a harsh crackle.
Nothingness.

not to sound like an ungrateful homo but it’s still absolutely bananas to me that with all the vanilla straight LIs coming back as bi options, the two who were supposed to be bi in vanilla to begin with (kaliyo and quinn) are still locked in hetero jail
