Ash as Herbert’s former friend and fuckbuddy dropping by bc he’s hunting Dedites in Arkham and needs a place to stay and Herbert reluctantly agrees. Dan still hasn’t Gotten Over himself so he and Herbert are still roommates with Too Much Sexual Tension, which Ash can obviously sus out. Ash is still his usual flirty self and Dan is very confused and mad and confused about why he’s mad that this hot muscular guy with scars and a metal hand is flirting with his roommate and why his roommate is like. tolerating it?? even giggling sometimes? sighing in fond exasperation? smiling half lidded at him? and they have jokes and memories together that they mention in passing and won’t explain to him??

Ash realizes the two of them are in fact not fucking when he talks to Dan alone he’s like “you’re seriously not hitting that” and Dan “why the fuck would I hit that have you met him he’s so aggravating” and Ash goes “well yeah but when Herbie is getting fucked on the reg he’s much less stressed and way easier to manage I’ll show you” he leaves Dan hidden out of sight to watch as Herbert emerges and Ash pounces on him starts kissing him rucking his shirt up pinning him against a wall biting his neck the whole time Herbert is gasping panting whining and Dan is watching fucking rock hard and all the blood must be out of his brain bc he emerges from his hiding spot and Herbert doesn’t even realize he’s there until he feels a second set of lips on his throat and it’s a really good thing he has two hands one to fist in each one of their hair.

Now that I've graduated and have a tiny bit more time, I think it's time to hopefully draw some Dashbert (I really hate that ship name, god). Also need to work on Queer Chemistry. So, I spent last night relaxing and drawing refs for myself.

Ash knows Herbert in ways that Dan doesn’t. Ash has been on wild adventures with Herbert that Dan wasn’t present for. He’s been the one there, purely by coincidence, when Herbert and Dan were taking breaks from each other and Herbert ended up messing with the Necronomicon.

Sometimes, Ash will mention something in a joking or teasing tone, and Herbert will roll his eyes and/or respond deridingly. But Dan will have no idea what Ash is talking about, and he knows that Herbert does, and he hates that. More than the disturbing nature of Ash’s anecdotes, Dan cares about his own unfamiliarity with them. It makes him feel like an outsider in his own home, his own damn relationship.

Ash and Herbert have matching scars, some physical, some psychological. They both avoid mirrors, rushing past them when they can, always staying further than arm’s length away. There’s similar burns on their arms, from being grazed by a ray-gun while they were stuck in the future. But, Herbert still has scars specific to his time spent with Dan. He’s still edgy around cats, reanimated or not. He still has that burn above his right eye from Dr. Hill’s laser drill. Dan is still inextricably a part of Herbert. But so is Ash.
