I had, a crazy fun idea: Let's combine X-Men Evolution, but add some dashes of X-Men The Animated Series, and make it some combined X-Men world/show/anime called X-Men: The Animated Evolution. Ye or no? Let me explain:

It would have the dynamics and ages of Evolution. The X-Men adults consist of Professor Xavier, Storm, Wolverine, Beast, and Morph, their teen wards/kids are Scott, Jean, Evan, Kitty, Kurt, Rogue, but I add Gambit to it, as well as Jubilee, but as teens, and with their Animated Series look. You have the Brotherhood and Acolytes, the adults being Magneto and Mystique (and Sabretooth a bit later down the line), their teens are Pietro, Wanda, Todd, Lance, Fred, with Pyro and Colossus too, but usually in the Acolyte group.

The plot is a bit of a mix between Evolution and The Animated Series, with everyone trying human school for a bit, trying to fit in or stand out, causing teenage mayhem and having teen problems, the occasional adult having a past come back to haunt them and teens ready to hug them, some Sentinels made that then get destroyed (for good this time), Apocalyose makes some of them Horsemen, and Sinister is a side villain defeated during like, season two, about midway through it. Then everyone ends up exposed, and now they're all having to try and atick it through- and then that gets too dangerous, so now they're all copped up in the Institute, because hey, time for their pseudo- parents to teach them!

Weapon X is a thing, Hydra wasn't involved, it's just Weapon X being f*cking jerks again, and there is a whole side story/adventure where some of the teens help bring them down, with Logan and Sabretooth possibly caught or on a separate mission to stop Weapon X, and oh, yeah, Laura helps, because she deserves to kick the scientists in the shin, with her claws.

Reader is the new kid, a few of the teens like them, and Reader is trying to wrap their head around the whole "Oh, my classmates are mutants, I like them, I want a normal life, and they won't leave me alone" as well as the "Oh sh*t they're following me, wait how did they know where I live wait is everyone in on it?!". Yep. Reader ain't escaping this.

So. Yeah. Just an idea.

Hoping someone can help me. I finally (FINALLY!) switched my browser over from Chrome to Firefox. Sadly, my main hold up was Tumblr, as I had everything set up perfectly in Chrome. I’m logged in and got all of my extensions added in Firefox. I even went through what I had set for Chrome to make sure I didn’t miss anything and as far as I can tell, everything is exactly the same for both. But for some reason in Firefox, I can’t see the blog names or icons of any reblogs. Like, I can see who on my dash reblogged it, but I can’t see the original poster or who any of the comments were added by. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Does anyone know of an XKit feature that would fix this that I am maybe missing? Or maybe some other solution to troubleshoot this?

I really want to stick with using Firefox as my default browser, but I also want to still enjoy my Tumblr experience.

Portland Duo SEMUTA Deliver Proggy Sludge Blow in ‘Glacial Erratic’

A couple of dudes in Portland named Ben noodling their way through the end times.

Today, I want to introduce you to a band I'm especially excited about, SEMUTA from Portland, Oregon. I've been following the heavy music landscape for the better part of three decades and have seen a lot of ebbs and flows in the City of Roses, with a lion share of great talent -- from Yob to Witch Mountain to a band called Burials, which many of acolytes of the scene will recognize.

Their debut is the near 40-minute spin Glacial Erratic, and it so deftly weaves post-metal and progressive stylings with sludge that you could even call it beautiful. Not that there isn't plenty of aggression here, as you would expect from the guitarist vocalist Benjamin Caragol, brilliant guitar play and melancholy, nihilistic lyrics. Words are concerned less about He is joined by whirlwind drummer Ben Stoller, who has been in a chain of area bands as well.

The album jumps to a start with swirling riffs on the order of an Elder for "Toeing the Line.". Drums resound deep while a maze of guitar carries us from guttural lows to screeching highs. What floats to the surface over the winding, buzzing fray are melodic verses leading up to melancholy harmonies in the chorus. Easily one of my favorite tracks from the record. Watch the paint dry, stagnant like a light. Bathe in the dying dust, let the bodies rust. There is a wistful middle section that bleeds very nicely into the song's rousing finish.

"A Distant Light" demonstrates the same complex drumming as before, with a nice bouncy beat, mathy rhythms, and some post-jazz touches. Again the vocals are a key ingredient in making this duo work so effectively. Anything grittier might spoil the contrast between bruising low-end and crunchy riffage. The singing is at an ideal range for the style. It just works.

"Glacial Erratic" is, of course, the title track, and the beat says it all with an enticing shuffle between drums and gentle thrusting cymbals. I like that the percussion is not ear-splitting. A great job from all involved in the production. Things intensify with rapid fire poly-rhythms in both instruments, intersected by crystalline intonations. Fans of proggy guitar will appreciate that Caragol doesn't stay in his lane and a nice squak now and again.

I appreciate that the songs on the record have a certain distinction from one another, while remaining true to the band's core sound. "Selective Memory" dashes about like waves against the rocks, with some amazing, perpetual motion guitar play and crashing drumming. Words contemplate the fall of humanity to its continued mistakes, as we forget the past from generation to generation.

As you can tell, there's a lot at play here from concept to execution. "Wounds of Storm" is the closer and the first few minutes are like being frozen in time, floating in dreams. I couldn't help but think of the haunting last track on Mad Season's Above. But that petrays me as a '90s kid. The piece is well constructed and takes its time building. The drums have a booming resonance here, while meeting out a brilliant start-stop rhythm that platforms the verses ideally. The vocals really shine on this one.

SOME BUZZ

Semuta is the duo of guitarist/vocalist Benjamin Caragol and drummer Ben Stoller, former members of noted Rose City bands Burials, Dark Numbers, and more. Together as Semuta, the two summon a mournful strain of sludgy post-metal, marked by enthralling songcraft and passionate execution. Mixed by Scott Evans at Antisleep Audio (Kowloon Walled City, Great Falls) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Portrayal of Guilt, Torche), debut full-length Glacial Erratic depicts an ocean of melancholy, punctuated by triumphant swells.

Its five songs unfold over the course of 37 minutes, with Caragol's rich, clean vocals soaring over icy lulls and metallic eruptions. Navigating gentle interludes, tense buildups peppered with odd time signatures, and heroic climaxes, Stoller delivers rock-solid beatings in the Bonham tradition and Caragol unfurls a spectrum of six-string magic, all in service of the songs' momentum.

Caragol states: "When I was a kid all I really cared about was metal, but around the time I was 15 or 16 I started to branch out. A big moment for me was seeing Radiohead for the first time. I had never seen a group of musicians so willing to dispense with conventions, and explore such a wide array of sounds. After that I was drawn to heavy bands that experimented with sonics, odd times, and emotive melodies; bands like Neurosis, Converge, Godspeed... I really appreciate music that pushes boundaries while maintaining a lot of feeling. I want the music we make to be ambitious, but I also want it to resonate with people emotionally."

Caragol's goal, to create music that challenges the mind whilst stirring the soul, has been realized with Glacial Erratic, an album likely to hook the ears of any fan of progressive heavy music, from Russian Circles to Cave In and beyond.

Revealing the themes at play behind the new album, Caragol states: "Most of our songs are about the ways in which human systems are failing us. Governments waging endless war. Corporations hoarding wealth and exploiting natural resources at the cost of an inhabitable planet. The abandonment and persecution of our most vulnerable populations. It’s hard to look at our civilization and not see a gaping wound. And most people bury their heads in the gutter of social media and vapid entertainment; a desperate attempt to hold onto fleeting moments of joy as the world around us falls apart."

In contrast to the grave messaging, the official music video for the album's title track sports a lighthearted, B-movie tone. Directed by renowned documentarian of Portland's metal and punk scenes, Shelby Kray, the video sees a party at a backyard skateboard ramp devolve into hallucinatory horror. Making cameos are a bevy of Semuta's hometown friends, including members of Usnea, Dark Castle, Armed for Apocalypse, Stoneburner, Nasalrod, and more. "Portland has a pretty thriving music scene," says Caragol, in regards to the video casting. "There’s a wide variety of bands, and the music community is pretty close knit."

The Glacial Erratic album artwork was created by Ashleigh Caragol, with design and layout by Justin Cory. The album follows one self-titled EP, released by the band in 2020.

Unlike Hank, who started showing his mutation in high school, Reader started showing theirs almost as soon as they were born. So Hank gives them the same serum he uses to supress his mutation, believing it to be the best way to give his kid the best life they could have.

Sadly , that also means when the serum stops working for Hank and he goes on a rampage, it stops for Reader too. They don't go crazy like their dad, but they are scared. They don't know what's happening and they're freaking out and they want to go home. So they do.

It's only after Hank calms down and the mess is cleared up. does he think that if the serum failed for him, then it must have failed for Reader. Then it's a mad dash to find the other McCoy mutant. They aren't too hard to find. They're in their Dad's room at home, hiding under the bed while they wait for him to come home, now permanently stuck in their beast form like him.

Hank feels like he's failed Reader. That he's taken away their chances of a normal life, and if he had been a better parent, they would be stuck like this. Even though they can use the image inducer, he knows their lot in life just got harder. So, he tries even harder to be the best parent. Which means he becomes a little bit (a lot) of a helicopter dad. He's got a tracker on Reader's phone, he has a strict curfew for them, and they can't walk home or take the bus, they have ride with Scott or let Logan pick them up.

Reader inherented their dad's beautifully big brain, so they got to skip a grade or two. So while they are a little younger, they are in the same grade as Kitty and Evan and Kurt. They get along great with their new teammates.

Kurt is the best. He's funny, and they are gymnastics buddies, and he gets the whole "being blue thing." Kitty helps them pick clothes out that aren't too hot with all their fur and still look cute. They tutor Evan along with Kurt, and even if he does sometimes distract Kurt or play hooky, they think he's smarter than others give him credit for. Jean is so nice and doesn't seem to mind when Reader goes too far talking about science. Scott is fine with always having to be their ride and takes them all out for ice cream if they get 100% on a test. ( Scott is now broke from all the ice cream he has to buy)

The other kids at school? Not so great. They do amazing academically. They got all As, their teachers love them, and they are on track to skip ANOTHER year. Socially is where they struggle. Being a protégé and being younger and smaller makes them a prime target for bullying. Their beast mutation made them a little stronger than they originally were, and they have some training in the DR, but they don't have their dad's muscle mass. They're getting jumped by football players and wrestlers in groups!

The others have to keep an eye out for lockers and trashcans that Reader gets stuffed in. Jean carries around extra clothes for when anyone decides to pour milk or their lunch on Reader. Extra copies of their homework are made to be carried by the others cause people keep stealing from their backpack. Kitty is working on a schedule so there is always someone to walk Reader to and from classes.

Reader begs them not to tell their Dad. They love him and normally tell him everything. They got matching labcoats and do science experiments together. But they know that he would erupt if he found out, and they fear he would put them back in the grade with kids their own age where they were bored to tears in class, or pull them completely from school and start homeschooling them.

But Hank and the other adults eventually find out. Hank becomes the PTA dad from HECK! You think Edna's meltdown at the annual bakesale was bad? You think Sharon's freak out over her middle school daughter not getting the lead in the high school play was bad? You have seen NOTHING until you saw the rage of Hank (and other adults) who just found out one of their kids has been bullied for months!

Reader luckily doesn't get pulled from school or pushed back, but they now have even more restrictions. They have to come straight home after school. No more ice cream stops or trips to the mall or any extra-curriculars. No more tutoring kids outside the mansion or even speaking to them. He does a physical checkup every time they come home to make sure they haven't been hit. He's hacked into the schools security cameras to keep an eye on them while he works.

And everyone else just goes along with it?! Reader was originally training to hopefully one day get cleared for missions, but now Logan won't let them in there. If Jean's human bestie trys to speak to them, Jean physically blocks her with her body. If someone asks for their tutoring info, Evan will cut them off by telling the person that they should be able to study on their own. One day Scott is sick and Logan's on a mission, so Reader assumes that means they walk like the rest of the team? Nope! Storm drives up like the world's chic-est soccer mom with a mini-van and tells all of them to get in. Don't even mention what happens if the Brotherhood gets near.

Frankly, and pardon Reader's language, it's #$^%@$&!

Aaaaawwwwww! I love Hank! He's such a sweet guy! He's He's huggable and nice and probably makes great tea! He'd be a great dad! (If any of the adults are a parent to Reader (or two or more are) I want it to come as a surprise for a... plot twist! But I love this ask, so let's explore it! If you have ideas for what each adults would be like as a hidden parent for Reader, I am all ears, @sugar-soda ! Do you think it would make a good plot twist?)

Reader gets their brains, their brown, and their beauty from their dad, Hank, a.k.a., Beast. They have slightly silkier or grayer-blue fur than him, they have strong arms amd legs, and they love science amd experiments and all sorts of fields of study- they just have bad luck with bullies.

Everyone seems to steal their homework. At least three jocks, a few cheerleaders, and a few random kids hit them with food or dumped water or soda or milk on them and their clothes. People try to tackle them or stuff them in lockers. It's like a living h*ll, and they don't want their dad to know. Jean helps them have a change of clothes, at least three pairs hidden away. Evan and Scott make sure when they're with them, no one gets an funny ideas or tries to hit them. Kitty and Kurt are good at cheering Reader up, and helping them carry books. And Rogue is willing to sit with them in class so everyone leaves them alone.

Scott or Logan always have to drive them to school or pick them up, no exceptions. If Reader does well on a test or gets an A, Scott takes them and the others our for ice cream or to see a movie. Sometimes they all go into town and look around, or to the park to take a walk and see nature, they've even visited an aquarium! If Logan took them to school in the morning, he usually leaves notes in their bag, usually telling telling to have a good day and to stay out of trouble, with little claws or a crudely drawn animal in the corner.

The bullying gets bad enough one day when Reader gets really hurt, and the others help them approach their dad about what's really been happening. Reader was expecting him to tell them they're being the bigger person, or that they're being grounded-

They didn't expect his face to go cold and angry, for him to grab an image inducer, and bring Charles, Logan, and Ororo and them and the others down to the school. They didn't expect him to join the PTA, or to yell at Principal Kelly for not handling the situation, or to threaten to sue or hold charges against every single student who hurt them or pulled a mean prank or was acting out against them. Reader didn't even expect the other adults nodding along, Logan a step away from snapping someone's arm, Ororo almost summing a storm outside, or Xavier to say he'd cut funding for the school and it's extracurriculars and clubs if things didn't change.

And yes, everything did change.

Reader was no longer allowed to join or go to extracurriculars or games. They had to always be with someone, in class or at lunch or even going to the bathroom. If someone needed help studying and asked Evan for Reader's number, they were told it wasn't happening. If someone Scott or Jean's human friends tried to talk with Reader or check on them, those two were blocking them and taking Reader somewhere else. If the Brotherhood tried to see what was going on, Rogue was telling them to back off while Kurt ported them away. H*ck, they were even banned from the Danger Room by Logan!

It was a bit much. And the ultimate problem with all of this? No one disagreed or thought it was too much.

Scott was sick one day and Logan was out of town, so Reader thought they'd be walking to school. No. Ororo shows up in a mini van, she's ushering everyone inside, and comes back that afternoon, giving pointed, glaring looks at any teens who had been bullies to Reader, causing them to scatter.

Hank kept checking them for any wounds and their clothes for any stains, he gave them a tighter schedule, he gave them an earlier curfew, and Reader was pretty sure he was spying through the school cameras just to make sure no one messed suth them or the other teens. It was starting to feel creepy.

And don't talk about the Brotherhood trying to check up on them for a home visit. Everyone, from Logan to the New Mutants to Xavier to Kurt and Kitty to Scott lost their sh*t and started what could only be described as a mutant dodgeball/danger lawn course from H*ll...

(I lobe this! I do want to keep it a surprise though for later in the series if Readerdoes happen to be related to one or more of the platonic yans! If you want to discuss possible parents for Reader, and potetial mutations Reader woukd get from them, bring them! I'm enjoying this a lot. I hope you are too, @sugar-soda)

Monday Night Raw 2/25/19 Review

This was a weird night. It was filled with the highest of highes when we found out that Roman was coming back, but also pretty bad lows. Boring matches, weird booking, and things are still feeling like the Becky vs. Ronda vs. Charlotte match is the only one that matters for Wrestlemania. But we are starting to build up other stories, the card is getting into shape, and fastlane doesn’t look too bad either.

So, the review this week is gonna start about twenty minutes in, given that Roman’s segment really transcends wrestling. So, after that amazing news, there was an aura of positivity in the air, and we started out with Ricochet and Aleister Black vs. The Revival. The Revival jumped the faces before the match, but Black and Ricochet were able to gain control. As the match just started to heat up, in very short work, Ricochet hit a backflip to the outside to Wilder, and Black in the Black mass on Dawson for the win.

Grade: D-. This match was not long enough to get going. Plus this is the second time that the Raw Tag Team Champions lost a non title match, this time to people who weren’t even a tag team. Just bad booking, and the match was just not long enough to mean anything. Just putting the belts on the Revival is not enough to keep them in the company, WWE. You need to book them well too.

Backstage, Charly talked to Baron Corbin about some very offensive things he said about Roman, like that people need to move on, and that he hoped Roman would never come back. Corbin said that he was under a lot of stress at the time, and no one could understand what he was going through. Charly countered by asking if Corbin’s struggle was harder than Roman’s, and Corbin just said that Roman should hope that the two don’t run into each other. Weird way to get heat on Corbin, but its one way to start a feud.

Elias came out to sing, but was immediately interrupted by Lacy Evans doing a catwalk. She was in and out. But then Dean Ambrose came out and challenged Drew McIntyre to a no DQ match. Elias just played his guitar to get people’s attention, and the two bickered. Elias made fun of the Atlanta football team, cheap heat. Ambrose then asked him to play Dirty Deeds, to which Elias responded by swinging the guitar at him. Dean ducked it and hit Dirty Deeds. As Ambrose walked away, the Riott Squad came out for their match.

Grade: F. Yes, it was kinda funny to hear Dean being his old wacky self again, but this served no real purpose. I don’t know why they are now burying Elias. The Interruptions are supposed to be funny, but its just stupid.

Next, we had Ronda Rousey and Natalya vs. Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan, with Liv Morgan at ringside. The heels were very much in control, which was only made harder with Morgan around. So, the faces took her out with an elevated elbow smash, almost a Hart Attack. As the match came to an end, Ronda hit Logan with her samoan drop finisher, only for Becky Lynch to show up. Natalya tried to keep the piece, but ate a punch to the face for it, causing the DQ.

Grade: D-. Another match that really didn’t mean anything, and ended in a DQ. Luckily, it was quickly overshadowed by the next segment.

As Lynch attack Ronda at ringside, there was a huge pull apart, with various security guards holding them both off. Lynch was even put in handcuffs and led backstage. Funny enough, Becky was telling security to be careful with her hands, because she needs them to hold up the women’s championship. After the commercial, Rousey got into the ring and called out Vince McMahon, but Steph came out instead. Rousey told her to reinstate Lynch, because the attacks need to stop. Steph said, “Becky Lynch did this to Becky Lynch.” Rousey even played to Steph’s ego, saying that it will put her down in history as a great authority figure if she books the historic woman’s triple threat. When she still refused, Rousey got right in her face, and demanded the match. Steph said that the were both bad people, and Ronda responded with an epic promo about how the belt is worth nothing if it isn’t defended against the best of the best. She then left the belt in the middle of the ring and walked backstage.

Grade: A. The angle was phenomenal. They are drawing comparisons to Steve Austin with the arrest, and Bret Hart with the “Becky Lynch screwed Becky Lynch.” She is the ultimate anti hero right now. And then Ronda is playing an awesome champion in distress. Ronda refused to be viewed as anything less that the best, and said that a belt that isn’t defended against those that deserve it is worthless. The Raw Women’s Championship is the most important belt in the company right now, and it is all because of this feud, and how much Ronda cares about it. Even the authority figures are doing well, talking about how they are only trying to do what is right for the company and for their employees. It was Ronda’s best promo, and it was awesome. Best segment of the night.

Jinder Mahal came out with the Singh Brothers in tow, and he was mad that he wasn’t invited to Ric Flair’s birthday party, I think. I don’t really know, I saw Jinder and lost all interest. Kurt Angle came out to have a match with him, Mahal quickly took the lead. Kurt was able to fight back with some suplexes, and tapped him out to the Ankle Lock.

Grade: C-. Fine match, but no story. Another one that didn’t matter. I guess it was good to see Jinder, even though I accidentally paid less attention to the segment after he showed up.

Next, we had a Moment of Bliss with Alexa Bliss. She talked about how she would be a reliable replacement for either Lynch or Rousey. It was funny that she is trying to manipulate her way into Wrestlemania. She then welcomed Finn Balor out, congratulates him on winning his title, and started to flirt with him. She asked to see his abs, and then she would show her..... cut off by Lio Rush (much to Corey’s anger). Rush then demanded a rematch for Lashley. Balor took it as a challenge from Rush, and accepted it, despite Rush not really wanting the match. Rush didn’t want to take it, but Bliss goaded him into it. The match happened next, and we jumped right into it. Not gonna grade it, because it was basically a backstage segment that went kinda long.

Finn Balor vs. Lio Rush for the Intercontinental Championship. Lots of high flying offense between the two, with Lio Rush hitting a moonsault and a pair of suicide dives. Finn was able to counter the big splash with his knees. However, this hurt his knee, and created a target for Rush. It was weird to see a match where Balor had the strength advantage, but that is how the match progressed, with Rush even working the knee. After a series of strikes, Finn hit a sort of underhand brainbuster and then the Coup de Gras for the win.

Grade C+. It was a good match, although not spectacular. It was a pretty fresh matchup to see a genuine one on one match between the two. They clearly weren’t going all out, but they were entertaining enough. Balor defending his belt is not a bad thing at all.

Backstage, we had Tucker of Heavy Machinery being confronted by the Ascension. They made fun of Otis, and when Otis eventually showed up, he attacked them. Otis is very funny to watch, with his loud voice and weird mannerisms. Could be a good comedy tag team. Also backstage, Bobby Lashley insulted Rush for taking a match for himself, rather than getting Bobby a rematch.

Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush then went out to the ring for a match against Braun Strowman. Lashley attacked before the bell, but he was still able to take control. The match didn’t end up starting, they just brawled a bit and then Braun beat them up a bit.

Grade: D. It was fine, I was just hoping for an actual match. Fun beatdown

Backstage, Seth Rollins talked about his destiny to win the Universal championship, and how happy he is that Roman is healthy again. He left Charly to go drink with Roman as Ric Flair arrived for his birthday celebration.

Next, the no Disqualification match between Dean Ambrose and Drew McIntyre. The match revolved around a leather belt, used by both of the competitors, but mostly on Ambrose. It looked really painful. Dean was able to hit a elbow drop to the outside from the corner post, looked quite cool. Ambrose also hit a drop toe hold as McIntyre came at him with the steel steps, driving his face into the steps. As Ambrose was about to win, Elias assaulted him with his guitar, and McIntyre hit the claymore for the win. After the match, Corbin and Lashley came out to attack Ambrose, and the four heels beat him down. Seth Rollins came to his aid, alongside Roman Reigns in his return. Roman hit superman punches on just about all of them, Rollins smacked Elias with his chair, and hit the Curb Stomp. Reigns hit the Spear on McIntyre, and they both walked out. They had left Ambrose in the ring, but turned to face him at the top of the ramp

Grade: B. The match was nothing too special, but the unnofficial shield reunion was quite fun, and even suggested a redemption for Ambrose. Roman looks as good as ever, and seeing him kick ass again was awesome. Good old fashion beatdown from the faces. Hopefully Dean will rejoin them by the time Wrestlemania rolls around, because I have fallen in love with the idea that Brock is beaten by a triple powerbomb.

Bayley vs Nia Jax was next, with their partners at ringside. The match showed how strong Bayley is, while still treating her as the underdog. Jax tossed Bayley around like a ragdoll, while Bayley tried to be crafty and speedy to get around the strength of her opponent. At one point, Nia held Bayley in the tree of Woe, and hit a rough hip attack. Banks tried to cheer Bayley on, and Nia grabbed Banks’ hair. Bayley then hit a running high knee, and the macho man elbow for the win.

Grade: C+. Decent action building towards their title match at Fastlane. It may not be the most exciting match it the world, but I’m into the build. Tamina and Nia are monsters right now, and are being treated as such.

And now the main event. where we celebrate Ric Flair’s 70th Birthday. Triple H and Steph introduce the honored guests: Shawn Michaels, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Kurt Angle, and even Sting. They showed a nice video package of Ric Flair and his career. They even made a custom gold belt for Flair. When Flair didn’t come out when he was announced, a camera man showed Batista running into Flair’s dressing room, and attacking him. He then looked down the camera after dragging Flair’s unconscious body out of the room, and called out Triple H.

Grade: B+. Honestly, i am embarrassed to admit that I completely forgot about the Evolution Reunion at Smackdown 1000, and the very brief interaction between Batista and Triple H. But, I did, and I was kinda shocked when Batista turned up. The whole 70th birthday party was always a weird concept so I liked the take on this. So, this is a clear set up for a Wrestlemania match between Triple H and Batista. Its a match that could be fun to see, and a story I can get behind.

Overall Grade: D+

“Shit!” You groaned, pushing your hair off your face as you clutched at your throbbing head.

“Shit!” You almost shouted as you noticed Chris beside you and not in a separate bed, a loud groan leaving your lips as you realised you were also naked.

“Shit! Shit! Shit!” You spoke in hushed tones, as not to make your own headache worse. You climbed out the bed, reached for your pyjamas that were strewn across the floor and quickly pulled them on as you heard a gentle knock at the adjoining door. “Chris! Wake up!” You grabbed one of the pillows and hit the man with it, eagerly trying to wake him.

“Mama! Daddy!” You heard the small voice of your daughter call through the adjoining door as the handle rattled. You dashed over to the door and gently opened it, swinging your daughter up into your arms and stepping back into the room she shared with Scott.

“Shhh! Daddy’s still sleeping.” You told the young girl, sitting her on the edge of her bed. “Where’s Uncle Scott?” You questioned, glancing around the room.

“Bathroom!” The little girl looked up at you with a small smile. “Can we wake daddy up and go to Disney?” You laughed a little at her question.

“Why don’t you stay here and I’ll go wake daddy up? And then once everyone’s ready we’ll go get breakfast and then head to the park.” You confirmed, checking the time and realising it was only eight in the morning. “Put the TV on, there should be plenty of movies on there.” You told the girl as you switched the television onto movies and gave her the remote to allow her to take her pick of the selection of Disney movies.

“Morning Scott.” You called through the bathroom door, letting him know you were awake before retreating back through the adjoining door to find Chris sat up in bed. “About time.” You grumbled, closing the door behind you.

“Good morning to you, too.” He mumbled sleepily, rubbing his tired eyes. “How’s your head? I’ve got painkillers if you need any.” His gaze never left you.

“Are we just going to ignore the elephant in the room?” You emptied your bag out onto the bed as you grabbed your things you needed.

“What?” Chris questioned; his eyebrows furrowed.

“We fucked!” Your voice came out high pitched, over-emphasising on what happened. “That should not have happened!” You stormed into the bathroom with your things, slamming the door behind you as you retreated into the shower to fix yourself up for the day ahead.

“You know it was you who wanted it, right? You basically refused to let me say no.” Chris looked up from his position on the bed as he pulled his shoes on.

“Please, just shut up. It shouldn’t have happened.” You mumbled, filling your backpack with the essentials for the day. “We were both drunk and it shouldn’t have happened. It doesn’t change anything.” You pulled your bag onto your shoulders before opening the adjoining door and stepping into the other room where Scott was helping Olivia put her shoes on.

“All good to go?” Scott questioned as you stepped into the room, his eyebrows raised as if he was trying to read the situation between you and Chris.

“Yeah, all good. Wanna go get some breakfast, Liv?” You questioned, holding your hand out to your daughter and leading her out the room.

“What happened, Chris?” You heard Scott ask as they both stepped out and joined you in the hallway.

“Let's not talk about it.” Chris mumbled in reply, the tension thick in the air as you all made your way to breakfast.

The few days in Disney passed rather quick, and you’d soon returned back to London and carried on with life as usual. You’d held back from signing your part of the divorce papers after what happened while you were vacationing in Florida, although there was a lot of tension after a lot of thought it felt like things were somewhat going in the right direction and you’d agreed with Chris to take things slow and work on your relationship one step at a time, which included twice weekly marriage counselling via video call.

Your marriage was hard to explain to people, it confused a lot of people when they’d found out that you were actually married but your husband and father of your child lived over three thousand miles away. It took a few months but you’d gone as far as wearing your wedding ring again, the classic platinum diamond ring placed back on your finger alongside your simple engagement ring.

Everything felt normal, apart from the distance, and in a strange way you felt you had your husband back.

The next big step was whether you’d commit to moving back to Boston or not.

It was three months since you’d returned from spending a short period of time in Boston. Christmas was fast approaching, meaning it was only a matter of days before Chris would be joining you and Olivia for your first Christmas in London.

You’d spent two weeks of December extremely ill, finding yourself spending a lot of time cuddled up with the toilet and requiring lots of assistance from your parents when it came to childcare. It wasn’t until one of your work colleagues mentioned the pattern in your sickness that you began to worry. The mention of morning sickness made you feel nauseous, the idea of being pregnant with your somewhat-distant husband was not something you thought you’d even have to consider.

It wasn’t until the twenty second of December, the day before Chris was due to arrive, that you decided that the best course of action would be a pregnancy test. Things started to add up in your mind, leaving you certain you were pregnant.

The multiple pregnancy tests only confirmed your suspicion – by summer of the following year Olivia was due to be a big sister to Baby Evans number 2.

The thought of telling your husband made you fearful, it’s not as if you were in the worst situation anymore but you also weren’t in the best situation either. You weren’t sure how bringing a baby into that situation would work, but you’d do all you could to ensure the situation planned out.

“Wake up! Wake up!” Your little girl squealed, bounding into your bedroom. You groaned as she jumped onto your bed to shake you awake, glancing over at the clock on your bedside which red 5:47 in the morning.

“It’s too early, Liv. Go back to sleep.” You sighed, pulling your daughter in for a cuddle and tucking her under the duvet next to you. She let out a whine in protest.

“But Santas been!” She huffed out in annoyance, doing everything she could to squirm out your grip and make her way to her father who was fast asleep in his makeshift bed on the floor. Since you only had a small two-bedroom apartment Chris had agreed to sleep on the couch, not pushing the boundaries of your ‘new’ relationship just yet. But Olivia had refused to let her father sleep on the couch on Christmas Eve, demanding he sleep elsewhere otherwise ‘Santa wouldn’t come and visit’ her, so he’d made a bed out of extra blankets and pillows on your bedroom floor.

“Daddy! Wake up!” The five-year-old demanded, gently shaking Chris to awaken him. “Santas been, daddy!” She shouted as soon as his eyes were open. A soft yawn left your lips as you forced yourself out your bed, sliding your slippers and robe on.

“Come on then, missy. We’re up now.” Another yawn slipped from your lips as your daughter darted from the bedroom towards the small living room area, which you’d spent the evening with Chris laying out an array of presents which you’d been hiding away for what seemed like months.

“Can I open them?!” She squealed in delight as she picked up one of the presents and gave it a gentle shake.

“I hope that wasn’t fragile, you may have broken it.” You teased your daughter with a soft laugh. “Well firstly, you need to wait for daddy who’s going to make me a lovely hot cup of tea before we open any presents.” You spoke the last part of the statement loud enough for Chris to hear in the bedroom.

You heard the man chuckle as he left the bedroom, pressing a kiss to the top of your head and mumbling a soft ‘merry Christmas, baby’ before heading to the kitchen to make your tea. You don’t know whether it was the pregnancy hormones or not, but Chris left you blushing with a warm smile on your face.

It wasn’t long before you were curled up on the small couch in the living room, a blanket laid loosely over your lap and a cup of tea in your hands as your five-year old and husband sat on the floor playing with the new toys that ‘Santa’ had delivered.

“Hey Chris, can you get that present out from under the tree?” You pointed towards the small little gift that sat just below one of the branches.

“What is it?” Chris questioned, not remembering placing a present that small under the tree just a few hours ago.

“It’s from me!” Olivia beamed at her father, watching him retrieve the gift from under the tree. You couldn’t help but laugh at how oblivious your husband was, a small smile gracing your lips.

“Open it, daddy!” Your little girl grinned at the man as he began to rip the paper away.

“Oh wow, that’s so cool! Thanks, Liv.” Chris pressed a kiss to the top of his daughters head as he unwrapped the new wallet that was engraved with the words ‘To the best daddy, love your babies.’ He read the wording out loud, his eyebrows furrowed as he glanced at you. “I think they’ve messed up the personalisation.” He whispered, his confusion very evident.

You glanced from your husband back to the place where the present lay just under the tree a few minutes ago, your eyes flitting between the two spots.

Chris eventually followed your gaze, looking down to the decoration that hang on the tree right above the spot where the present previously lay. The realisation quickly set in and the shock was evident on Chris’s face as he took in the new Christmas decoration that hang on the tree with its dainty writing and a baby scan, reading:

I’ve seen the movie & fucking loved it, and having read all the reviews (I know I’m crazy 😂), I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the bad. It’s an action movie, they often have flaws that critics take way too seriously. Still, no matter how negative the review, they all still agree that Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen is pretty fucking amazing. Some highlights under the cut to save everyone’s dash.

The Gray Man Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes

“The best of the bunch is Evans, who bears obvious delight at demolishing of his image as a squeaky clean symbol of American military might. Every movie like The Gray Man needs a villain like Evans’ Lloyd, who’s so plausibly and amusingly nuts that he makes all the mayhem that ensues a lot easier to believe.”

“A dream cast highlighted by a deliciously evil Chris Evans as your new favorite villain.”

“Evans is a delight to see cut loose, acting comically unhinged and still retaining an intimidating presence.

Lloyd is basically the funnest bad guy since the last one Evans played (in Knives Out).

Even pre-Marvel, he’d already nailed the role of a weapons-grade douche, back in 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

On top of that he is matched by a game-changing role for Chris Evans, who plays the sociopathic villain of the piece and proves he has the chops to pull it off in style.

Evans’ Lloyd is really just a weapons-grade asshole, who trades in, by his own admission, “bad ethics and zero impulse control”. He’s a ton of fun to watch.

Equipped with shirts one size too small, Evans is great as the film's baddie. He delivers the one-two punch of slick put-downs and threatening physical beefiness with just enough menace and humour.

“The Gray Man” lets Evans deliciously explore his wicked side. Yes, he is the best of the "Chrises," and him doing a complete 180 from virtuous Captain America proves that once again.

Chris Evans, who plays a delicious psychopath, m steals the movie from everyone and enlivens every scene he’s in. He’s a treat to watch.
