Again, a moment at the bar while I was working behind the counter. It was a busy night and we were short staffed after a couple people had called in sick. There were two of us getting drinks out to people and we were so swamped, some were having to wait longer than usual for a bottle of liquid. The healer at the time was in after his shift had ended and I can imagine he was tired after seeing everyone. He became a little restless after a while and began to complain, stating he'd been waiting for some time and he was one of our best customers, so why hadn't we served him his drink yet? From where I stood, I brought my voice up for him to hear me say "Mr. Jones, I understand that you've had to wait, but so has everyone else. We're rather busy tonight so please, hang in there with us. Besides, I'm one of your best customers but you don't hear me complain when I have to wait thirty minutes to see you." I felt a little ashamed that others in the tavern had to hear me say it but it certainly got him to be quiet.

tsats kids thoughts on gardening? fdo they prefer practical veggies or pretty flowers? is gardening popular or not where they live? who has a green thumb and who doesn't?
gardening is not super popular in Adrayria or Zephia. I mean, there are little, personal gardens for vegetables for the families, and a few flower gardens here and there, but nothing huge.
in Theamor, gardens and farms are everywhere. it’s their thing. they grow food plants and decorative plants. it’s just what they do. and they pride themselves on all that they can grow. every single house at least has a garden. even if they’re on a farm they have a garden.
in Etheriland they have flower gardens for decoration! there are a couple veggie gardens here and there, but it’s wayyy more common to see flower gardens.
okay, so, i’m going to include all of Caspian’s family in with this because there are so many of them…
*Caspian and all of his family live in Adrayria and Alana comes from Zephia.
Alana: she was the one to tend the little garden they had at their home. she preferred the veggies because they were useful and could be eaten. though, she does like the way flowers look. Alana wasn’t a gardening wizard but she got by. she much preferred forging swords with her mother or digging through the mines with her father.
Caspian: listen. if it doesn’t have to do with sailing or the ocean, he’s probably horrible at it. he has troubles getting his clothes on. also breathing. he forgets to breath a lot. he has no thoughts on gardening besides the fact that it’s a thing that people do and food comes from gardens. he definitely has no green thumb.
Darya: she’s the more gentle one of the Seaver siblings. she loves pretty flowers and herbs. that’s what she grows and she decorates the house and the ship with her arrangements. she taught herself first aid skills and uses the herbs for that. she loves being able to help others. she definitely has a green thumb!
Laiken: she used to help Darya in the garden. but then stopped because she wasn’t interested in plants. she’d much rather be a sailor than a gardener. she respects what her twin does, though. she doesn’t have a green thumb.
Calder: this dude…is grumpy. though he secretly likes the flowers Darya grows and really wants to learn how she grows and nurtures them, he just hasn’t asked yet. he might have a little bit of a green thumb…
Naiya: she couldn’t care less about flowers and gardening. she knows vegetable gardening is useful, but that’s not something she wants to do. she’d rather be out stabbing someone. no green thumb.
Zhaleh: she is eager to learn about anything and knows a bit about gardening. she thinks it’s fun! she likes seeing all the weird plants. she also likes to dig stuff out of the ground and just. chomp down on them. it could be raw potatoes, she doesn’t care. she doesn’t really have a green thumb as she doesn’t grow the plants, but she loves harvesting everything!!
Brishon: he…he loves gardening. he’s so passionate about it. almost more passionate than Darya. he grows all sorts of flowers and vegetables and does his best to make sure everything comes out perfectly and can be used in some way. definitely has a green thumb!
Rilla: she’s originally from Theamor! gardening runs in her veins. she loves everything about it and loves being with her kids in the garden, tending to the plants. vegetables are the main she thing she grows, but she loves the flowers her kids grow. she has the best green thumb of anyone around.
Bruinen: he himself is not super interested in gardening, but he loves seeing how happy his wife and kids are in the garden. their happiness brings him joy. he also greatly appreciates the veggies they’re able to grow and the beautiful flower arrangements that are made. he has no green thumb.

The Stone and the Sea [Working Title]
Alana Smit’s wounds are finally healed. It’s taken six months for the burns to heal and for her to gain some of her strength back. After reflecting on the events around the fiery rampage that destroyed her village and killed everyone she knew, Alana embarks on a journey, bringing only her determination and the sword her mother made for her.
Her journey takes her far away from what was her home, leaving her country and going out to sea.
Caspian Seaver is the adopted son of a sailor on the boat Alana boards. His kind and cheerful attitude gets Alana to open up about the real reason she’s going to Theamor, a country not many choose to visit. After learning what happened, something stirs in his heart and mind, prompting him to offer to go with her on her mission.
Together they make their way through the sea and reach Theamor. As the two of them conduct an investigation, they find out about the group that rampaged Alana’s village, but more than that, they uncover things about each other that neither ever expected.
Characters
Alana Smit - 20/21
Alana is the oldest child of the Smit family. Her mother, Beryl, was a blacksmith and her father, Stein, was a miner. When she was younger she would help her father haul his findings from the mines back home as well as watch her mother make items for customers. Alana and her baby brother Kivi got along great and would play together all the time.
Growing up, Alana was always fascinated by swords, especially the ones her mother would make. She taught herself how to use one and she was ecstatic when she was given her own.
Her home country is Zephia, which is known for it’s precious gems and metals, mining, blacksmiths, stonecarving, and other related products.
Caspian Seaver - 22

He helps out his father on the small cargo ship they have. He loves the sea and everything to do with it and sailing.
The country he grew up in is Adrayria, known for their boat quality, fishing/fish products, woodworking, beautiful ocean views, and other related products.
