Friday, January 26: Pantera, "I'll Be Alright"
R.I.P. "Diamond/Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott (1966-2004), Vinnie Paul Abbott (1964-2018)
Metal Magic wasn’t very metal, and it certainly wasn’t magical, but considering that the Abbott brothers were still in their teens when their dad helped them make the first Pantera record, it had its moments.  The songs may not have all been there, but a handful of tracks like “I’ll Be Alright” showed an initial spark that would set the band on their way.  In the early days, Pantera was all about having fun, and this track reflected that with enthusiastic playing from every member, and if Terry Glaze’s screeching was always more than a little ridiculous, it also always felt like he was right there in the mix with the Abbotts and Rex “Rocker” Brown.  “I’ll Be Alright” was a no-frills early ‘80s Z-grade headbanger that sounded much more like a group of guys trying to get a party going than shooting for the stars, and that was fundamental to its charm.

Everybody know the names. Not everybody wants to talk about mental health or just stay close to friend in need. Leading to isolation and descend into madness of those with mental problems.

Happy Birthday to Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004), best known as Dimebag Darrell. He was the guitarist of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest metal guitarists of all time.

O terceiro disco do Mötley Crüe, "Theatre Of Pain", é dedicado a ele.

Friday, August 2: Pantera, "Killers"
R.I.P. Diamond/Dimebag Darrell Lance Abbott (1966-2004), Vinnie Paul Abbott (1964-2018)
Van Halen was a natural early influence on the Abbott brothers, and “Killers” was the closest Pantera came to crafting their own VH-style banger.  Projects in the Jungle was the record where certain things came into view for the band’s first iteration, as both Diamond Darrell and Vinnie Paul individually grew by leaps and bounds and collectively locked into each other in a manner not seen since Eddie and Alex, while Rex “Rocker” Brown maintained a steady pulse on bass and Terrence Lee made his best attempt at being some kind of Dallas David Lee Roth.  To be sure, “Killers” wasn’t substantial, and Pantera had a ways to go before they truly found themselves- and it wasn’t just a matter of changing singers.  But even though the guys were still largely playing poverty metal, the stars in their eyes were more coming from a place of enthusiasm and joy rather than visions of arenas, and this track was a highly entertaining shred fest brimming with excitement and fun.

Dave Grohl recalls how Dimebag shaped the Foo Fighters philosophy about backstage hospitality:
"...There was an Ozzfest in England in 1998, and Korn canceled. So we got the call. It was Slayer, Pantera and Black Sabbath. We had to go on after Pantera. I was so terrified: 'There's gonna be a riot. I'm gonna get drawn and quartered. No one's going to like our band.'
But we played, and I looked to the side. The guys from Pantera are watching us and singing the lyrics to our songs. Afterwards we made friends with Pantera. I was nervous and scared; I didn't think I fit in. But they were so open to us. That backstage hospitality we try to have – it all came from Pantera. Dimebag Darrell was the nicest fucking guy in the world. He could walk in and do a shot of Crown Royal with Justin Bieber, with Rick Nielsen, with James Brown – he was everybody's best friend. And you could feel that energy when he was playing.
After that day, I was like, 'From now on, everybody's allowed in this room. I don't care if it's Britney Spears.' I became the backstage best friend. Whenever I showed up at a festival, the first thing I'd do is grab a bottle of whiskey and go knocking on doors to see who the funniest people are. You'd be surprised who the real fucking nutcases are..."

80′s Dimebag Darrell is my favorite. Man, could he fucking play (don’t get me wrong his later stuff is awesome too)! His riffs are soo, so goddamn good! Listen to D*G*T*T*M from the album I AM THE NIGHT (you’ll know what I mean). I just fucking love his whole style.
Most don’t even like to acknowledge this past. However, I do. I like to see a bands evolution. I like to see how they progress through the years and how they began.
Back then he was known as Diamond Darrell. PANTERA was formed in 1981. He was 16 when Metal Magic was released! Two more albums were released in the following years. Pantera at the time was considered Glam Metal.
Power Metal was the last glam metal album. Phil Anselmo replaced the Original singer Terry Glaze before power metal came out. Differences in music style arose. Once Anselmo was introduced that was it. After listening to Metallica and Slayer Vinnie and Darrell wanted to adopt a heavier sound. Power Metal is heavier than the previous albums but, they wanted to leave the glam metal scene and sound behind. Which prompted them to reinvented themselves and they fucking came back Harder with Cowboys From Hell which was released in 1990.
You know the story after that.
**This is my summarized post. If you’d like to add more info DO IT!!!
