Darrel came into the room

Clucking filled the silence, pulling Soul out of their thoughts, and as they looked down at the chicken a sense of familiarity came to them.

{ Darrel. } Soul muttered, reaching down to pick Darrel up, {At least someone wants help.} Darrel stared up at Soul, they knew he was just a chicken but they always liked to tell themselves that he knew what they were feeling. { I do need that right now. }

There hadn't been many times that Soul spoke of their troubles, at least to Heart and Mind, but Darrel was another story.

Soul told him everything

Any and all of their struggles, they told Darrel.

It wasn't a matter of trust or fear that made them stay away from telling their brothers. They were the host, the leader, they shouldn't need to rant, though Heart and Minds fights did annoy them at times, or worry them like this one had.

They also knew that what would come from sharing them with Heart and Mind would bring either extreme, they would be given nothing but a quiet 'hm' or an overreaction to the smallest detail.

So instead they told the chicken.

The one that probably didn't understand anything that they said.

The one who wouldn't give them an uncaring look,

The one that wouldn't overreact to the simplest thing,

Darrel would just sit in their lap as they spoke, letting them pour all of their feelings onto him, and he wouldn't care, he was a chicken.

But he was their chicken, their friend they truly trusted, the one to whom they could tell anything without consequences.

Soul just sat petting the chicken, their sight falling to the window, there was way more that they still didn't understand. But they knew that Darrel would be with them through it all. - 331 Words -

Happy late halloween (would've drawn it on the actual day but Jashtober was consuming all my free time)

HMS trick or treating because it's fun, they deserve to have a good time, and I desire joy and whimsy.

Costume check. Soul: chicken onesie, Heart: Icarus, and Mind: Wednesday Addams.

This feels like it's taken years to complete [So many revisions were done] HI I FINALLY BRING the third of the jashlings...... Soul :] Over all his colors were really hard to decide on ? I was stuck between sunset theming from the lyrics or red-pinks, and so one of my friends smacked me upside the head with color palettes. No regrets. My main idea for him was obviously mix-match something that doesn't feel like it's SUPPOSED to be like this, like 2 ideas split and scattered all over. I've been also sticking with a space theming, so we have The stars and the over-expanding abyss that is space ! Half of his hair is similar to the void, splitting half down his body completely as well [To fit the original's design idea, no way would I NOT do that it's a sick idea] Tridents galore.... I've been splitting the rope between the 3 of them , Soul having the majority of it in the form of the trident ! It mostly acts like a belt ? When he's not. Wielding it .... And when he is, the rope turns completely straight and immovable, becoming the proper handle for it ! Tridential sovereign and allat.. Meaning he's the only one who can properly Use the trident, the other two can hardly lift it. [Heart can but that's just due to his over-all strength vs actually being 'worthy' enough to wield it.] For anyone who's curious on the sleeve - pant thing I swapped the both ! So they both seem really out of place on purpose :] Lastly ... His snake; Also deemed the depression snake by yours truly [Has not been named properly yet? Feel free to suggest some !!!] Depression is like. Something that completely poisons your being as a whole[joke intended] and corrupts how you see, feel, and act as a person. Things that weren't that big of a deal become massive, Emotions more raw and sensitive, it just breaks up everything !!!! So I had the idea to incorporate that into Soul's design [He feels snake -like to me for some reason] It's constantly biting down on him and driving him further apart, making him extremely irritable and exhausted from everything else, finding it all too much to resolve by himself alone :] THATS ENOUGH RAMBLING FROM ME !!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy ...

Log 1.3 - The Owl and The Clock.

Soul was never good at describing things, but the universe, they would describe it like a clock.

A clock where the hour hand stood for the months and the minute hand stood for the days.

It was easy for them to understand, for others, not so much.

knowing what would happen every hour, every day, and every month, they just dreaded when that clock would reach the end, that day when the month hand would reach the 12th mark.

The 12th mark stood for the event they dreaded when they would have to watch as the ones they loved disappear once again, the day they would wake up in their bed, the month hand back on the 1. Only to have to wait as it slowly but surely made its way back up to the 12.

over and over, and over again.

Soul sat at their desk, their head down as a knock came from the other side of the door, { "Heart." } Soul spoke, they knew who it was by now.

{ Soul? How'd you know it was me? } ( "Soul? How'd you know it was me?" } Heart said that each and every time, Soul knew His words by now, and Soul knew their very own.

{ "You always do two knocks. the same way every time." } Soul called back, pushing back the exhaustion that dared to fill their tone.

He opened the door, ( "..am I really that easy to catch onto?" ) Heart closed the door gently behind himself, only letting go of the handle when he heard the soft click. Soul let out a soft hum, confirming Hearts words. { "You stick to one thing, and it makes it obvious its you." } They looked up at Heart, leaning their head on their hand. ( "It's nice... Don't blame me." ) { "I don't. But," } Soul put their arm down, resting it on the table, { "How about maybe trying something a bit different next time?" }

They knew Heart wouldn't listen, Heart would go on and keep doing the same things. Soul sat up straight in their chair, motioning to the beanbag chair in the corner, { "Why don't you go sit down? After that whole event and all, I might as well keep an eye on you." }

Heart moved over to the beanbag chair, flopping down onto it, letting out a sigh after he did.

Soul knew Heart would be there for a while, so instead of staying in awkward silence, Soul decided to change it up a bit. { "Do- I don't mean to get into your business but... Why, why did you shoot at Mind?" }

The clock that stood in Soul's office ticked by slowly, Heart looked up at Soul, speaking up quietly, ( "You.. You really wanna know?" )

The hour hand hit a new hour and it chimed loudly.

{ "Yes, yes I would." }

Thank you to everyone who voted! Roadtrip (very working title lmao, feel free to make suggestions it's so silly and I'd love to hear anything better) is now officially in my active projects list

I'm still in the planning phase as I only have a rough storyline and a few important milestone scenes planned, but once I've got a better roadmap (pun very intended) I'll start drawing!

I've never made a comic before outside of my silly incorrect quotes posts, so please be patient with me while I figure everything out. I think I've seen people make blogs for comics before, though I don't know how all that works, so any advice is more than warmly welcome.

The comic will likely be a mix of traditional and digital art seeing as im more comfortable drawing traditionally, but certain scenes will require a certain flare I can only get digitally!

Anyway, I believe that's all! Thank you again to everyone who voted and showed my little idea some love! Let's see how far we make it in this little adventure!
