A person at The Serious Day Job read The King of Nightmare and loved it. Her favorite characters were Nightmare and Miss Teedee, though she called out Andrew (my Drew Baby), because he's... "...so obviously neurospicy, and he gets a huge part of the plot and a love story. And that so rarely happens in fiction. OR in life." Truth, lady. Truth.

He also gets one of the most powerful (one could argue THE most powerful) avatar of the whole book.

Because people who are different are powerful AF.

Secondly: A friend who has never seen an episode of anime of any variety in her life asked me, the other day, while sniffling through a MISERABLE cold, "Wait, where's the Russians?"

Me, understanding cold medicine is a BITCH. "The what, hon?"

"Your Russians. The story about the RUSSIANS," she says, as though I am the biggest moron to ever moron. "Where is it? I need that one."

She's speaking about The Beloved Martyr, my Itachi story, (which does, indeed, involve a lot of Russians - just go with me, here) and it's about 720 pages at the moment and half done and sidelined because of aliens (listen, they were insistent, mmmkay?), but I promised her I would get back to it and get it to her soon. And she sniffled and said, "Promise?" And I said, "Yes."

And this is me. Blissed out.

(And because I can literally hear @afhenley screaming from the peanut gallery... Yes, my beloved, I know; you are the OG in the 'Never heard of this Nar-U-Toe crap, but my GOD these stories are HOT, so I am HERE FOR THIS' fan club. You remain my favorite. <3)

Hi anon! This might be really late, I haven't been on here in aaages, sry! This might sound weird, since I mostly only write Naruto fics, but I haven't really read any Naruto fics in years, I do all my reading in other fandoms. The ones I remember enjoying a lot are KizuKatana's fics, and It Started Over Coffee, and everything by Darkprism. There's definitely more that I loved, but I can't remember what they were called or who wrote them, ops!

So, with that in mind, I'm going to share a couple of my favourite KakaIru fics and hope you will enjoy them, too ♡

Water Runs Red by ScribblesInTheMargins.

A delightful and imaginative fic featuring a badass Iruka who is a member of MABU - A covert squad of assassins who use sex and poison as their tools of the trade. Kakashi is too nosy for his own good ends up mixed in with Iruka's fast paced world and well, he ends up falling for our beloved sensei. It's rather explicit in places, so keep that in mind.

This was a gift fic for me but, my recommendation isn't based on any bias. There's a song that I adore called 'King' by Lauren Aquilina, and it really reminded me a lot about Kakashi and Iruka's lives/relationship when thinking back to the many discussions myself and Arya have had, especially talks of how Kakashi grew from a lonely soldier into someone who has a family and something to hold on to. The fic is absolutely beautiful, and is a result of a lot of emotional labout and inspiration that Arya drew from the song and lyrics. Please give it a read and definitely listen to the song, too.

Playing With Fire by Liralenli (written in Darkprism's universe)

A very well written and hot (fnar fnar) BDSM fic with submissive Kakashi and Dom Iruka. They do a public scene together which goes a tad wrong but still ends well. I really enjoy this fic - I appreciate how the author presents and writes BDSM. All too often I see people write it with zero care, no safewords, no discussion about the scene, no aftercare and definitely not SSC. I know that fanfic isn't here to teach people lessons but, it's so hard to find BDSM written to reflect safety and that irks me. Playing With Fire is a brilliant demonstration of BDSM and kink, showing Iruka taking care to create a scene that Kakashi wants, but making sure to do some hands on research first due to his lack of experience with fire.

Based on your KakaIruObi drabble: Toppy!Iruka is hot. Also, it remind me of DarkPrism's fic. If you know DarkPrism's works; well you don't need the Warning (I want to do all caps, but it's kinda overkill). Point is, I love Toppy!Nar-I mean Iruka. Because it's hot. There's no other explanation.

I don’t know DarkPrism’s fics, but I’ll admit I have a huge weakness for toppy Iruka. The fact that it’s so rare is probably one of the reasons I don’t read much Iruka-centric stuff, tbh, but the gentle uke syndrome he usually gets hit with bugs me a lot.

Whew.

I updated this one a bit when Y!Gallery resurrected in 2020. I posted it there, and it needed... work.

But I neglected to update the A03 version. I have now fixed that. With some additional edits, while I was at it.

I am slooooowly but surely going to hit all the stories in the Archive, updating for old writing errors. The curse of posting online for more than a decade, man.

Working through Undercurrents, still, and am finally in the later chapters.

I should mention that the entire Monoshizukanohi canon is getting a gentle overhaul for updated writing techniques but also to ensure plot holes don't appear based on the current Work In Progress. The tweaks are small, but present. Gotta pull some threads in this tapestry and rework them.

Speaking of that WIP, it's 190K and growing. I hope to have it done in a couple of months. It'll be continuing the Mono Origins Stories, like Let Freedom Bleed.

Anyway, cheers! And if you hear the sound of slightly-manic laugh-sobbing, that's just me going over writing I did over a decade ago and trying to forgive baby me for flailing around and getting bits of words all over the damn place.
