so if a good portion of sonic fans are autistic, and a good portion of autistic folks are trans... does this make Sonic the Hedgehog our first gender envy?

😯 and since i liked Shadow more... then does that explain why Dark Link is now in the center of my brainfolds? not just as best envy, but as the form i would wish to take if given a genie?

but then, why Dark Link and not Shadow? well, since Ocarina of Time Link himself was designed with gender ambiguity in mind, official design info stated as such. he was meant to be relatable to anyone. if mistaken as a girl, could still see masculine traits. if seen as a guy, girl traits still visible.

Darkness added to that results in goth ambiguity, which seems more my vibe. but that doesnt necessarily make Dark Link better, that just means he has something Shadow doesnt for me.

and this implies itself that Shadow CAN appeal to me more, which begs the question-

is my entire concept of gender based around an edgy hedgy with gay highlights?

cuz if so... a lot of things fall seamlessly into place.

🤔 my first true acceptance of gender was playing Sonic Forces, making a generic black crow guy cuz i wasnt yet willing to embrace life as a furry... but then i found that beautiful dress in game, and tried it on... i liked the dress, didnt like the color, so halfway through the game after swallowing my shame i changed my characters feathers to pink and donned the dress.

that was the single most empowering moment in gaming for me, and would shape my fate from thenon...

but what sold it was A. the character was still male, adding the ambiguity i crave. and B. said character was edgy to start with, giving this path in the game the vibe of a character arc where a trans protagonist learns to dye his feathers and rock that dress.

and so if i were to combine darkness, ambiguity, and femininity into one pot, i have a character i can deeply relate to.

therefor...

my ultimate goal... my ultimate dream... the true path to gender perfection...
