in my ideal mdzs modern au, meng yao dated qin su for maybe 6-8 months before taking a genetics test and finding out they have the same sperm donor. they immediately break it off and meng yao, terrified of how much his dad got around, decides that from here on out he is going to exclusively date men.

at least if he somehow ends up dating a male relative without his knowledge, there’s no chance of an incest pregnancy scare

fic idea I've been considering but probably won't write: post-canon, LXC begins seeing night time visions of a bitter JGY in seclusion. However, it can't be him- the coffin should prevent such a thing. Alone with himself and the spirit though, he begins to wonder, and accepts it must be true. Of course, until an incident occurs thar forces him to break seclusion and get WWX involved, who confirms its not JGY.

Its Meng Shi. Taking the face of her son after whatever NHS did to her body.

mdzs fanfics are so weird because if they're written by jgy, sms and jc antis the "good" characters are 10 times cruel than they were in the canon. In fact, they're way more cruel than jgy, jc and sms combined.

hi! have you read any xiyao fics with dark!lxc that you could rec? i just want me some “aren’t you tired of being nice? don’t you just wanna go apeshit?” lxc during/after the temple or even before it if jgy tells him about everything earlier and lxc sighs maybe cries but eventually accepts everything his a-yao did but i can’t find anything good 😩 i would even pay good money for a fic where lxc helps jgy kill nmj with the music. the angst potential 🤌

…shoot, you know what, anon, i absolutely read a subtly dark!lxc fic that was largely canon compliant but i cannot for the life of me remember what the AO3 username or the fic title was. ugh this is going to mess with me for ages, because it was *so* good and handled dark!lxc with a very light touch.

i will do some digging through the tag on AO3 and see if i can find it for you, and if i do, i’ll reblog this post with a follow-up comment. watch this space 🤝

As a fellow Nie Sect apologist, I would love to hear your thoughts on Nie Mingjue's tragic hubris

ok just off the top of my head

thought he could protect his brother from tragedy forever, still ended up dying even younger than expected, despite his best efforts to take care of NHS it just made it that much harder / sadder that NHS went full Machiavellian after his murder

and also quite frankly. so sad to see a guy who Never wavered in his principles, for better or for worse, decide to go against his better judgement in JGYs case, and in the end that’s what killed him 😭 he was So Rigid but deciding to be flexible in JGYs case to try to fix him / give him a chance is the first domino in his murder

like. damn. there’s excuses / explanations for why jgy did the things that he did in the Sunshot campaign but it is also completely reasonable for NMJ to not trust him / not want to have any kind of relationship with him afterwards. it’s really tragic that compromising on his principles to give JGY more chances actually made things way worse than they would have if they’d never spoken ever again

fun possibility that hasn’t been considered yet for putting these characters in a hunger games style scenario: lan xichen decides going in that he is going to make sure lan wangji wins because his duty as an older brother here takes precedent over all else. which means he winds up killing wei wuxian, nie mingjue, jin guangyao, and himself, along with anyone else he doesn’t think lan wangji can beat or bring himself to kill.

📖 MDZS

I just read a part of MDZS that I found interesting. LXC talked about his parents and LWJ's relationship with his mother to WWX, and I know this was a dig at WWX.

LWJ was always stubborn, he didn't give up on going to visit his mother even after her death, and his mother was a woman who committed a crime and was imprisoned by her husband who preferred to condemn them both to a life of solitude rather than let her go.

However, this was also about LXC. When he said that in his memories his mother was kind and he didn't want to know the reasons for her crime, I couldn't help but think about his relationship with JGY and his difficulty facing his dark side, just as he has difficulty facing the mother's dark side.

I know that later on LXC says that WWX was LWJ's worst mistake, but the reality is very different and I believe he knows that, he just prefers not to believe it, after all his worst mistake was JGY, but, just like for half of the MDZS characters, it's easiest for him to blame WWX

DRAWTOBER #5 - two bowls shatters loneliness and melancholy by @spinecorset

He cannot be blamed—if asked, he would merely say he was admiring his sworn brother’s famed beauty, and this is true, but only inasmuch as an apple is part of an orchard. Instead, his mind—the one weapon he has honed since his youth, what has helped him survive through the furious whirl of public rumour mills, of Wen Ruohan’s inner court, of the pit of vipers he now faces among the wider gentry as the bastard Jin—spins, like a top let loose, string pulled too violently, gone wild and swaying sharply, held upright only by the force of its movement. - AKA Lan Xichen seduces Jin Guangyao with fashion: the fic.

this is such a hilarious execution of an attempt to justify LXC's Fuck Me Robes and it's thoroughly entertaining reading poor JGY do his best not to dissolve into a horny mess whilst the two of them play Cleansing for NMJ. I love any fic where LXC gets to be a little bit schemey, a little bit cheeky, and be sexy on purpose, and this one is a very fun read through LXC's sartorial seduction attempts! it could perhaps be renamed "5 times Lan Xichen drove Jin Guangyao slightly crazy by how sexy he is + 1 time Jin Guangyao (very smugly) returned the favour" 😌
