Moon One
Tumblr media
Dapplekit became an apprentice with Leafstar as his mentor!
Sunscratch, Sagebranch, and Quailflip took a sunbath and talked together. It settled Sagebranch and made her happy, but Sunscratch ignored Quailflip afterwards. She didn’t understand what she did wrong — surely her runny nose wasn’t that terrible. The truth is, Sunscratch just isn’t that social. He likes Sagebranch and Quailflip from a distance, but they’re too energetic for him to want to be around too much.
Sagebranch likes Leafstar, believe her, but when Leafstar took her favourite bedding, well. Leafstar didn’t do it on purpose, right? Spoiler alert: she totally did it on purpose.
Deerpaw finally checked on his brother, but Yewkit didn’t even notice. Then, he and Quailflip had a fight. To make matters worse, the moon in general been wearing on him to the point that he let Sagebranch down. At the end of the moon, it took all their power, but Sagebranch, Deerpaw, and Cricketrise managed to catch one (1) bird . . . it lifted Deerpaw’s spirits, at least.
Sagebranch and Mousepaw talked, and Mousepaw unexpectedly enjoyed himself. Later, she checked in on Quailflip again, this time offering to groom a hard-to-reach place for her.
Tumblr media
Cricketrise thought Sagebranch was so cool fighting the other day.
Dapplepaw wasn’t trying to be malicious when he took all of Leafstar’s nesting materials. The prank was supposed to be in good fun . . .
Yewkit wanted to practice playfighting, and thinking that Deerpaw was still ignoring him, challenged Mousepaw to spar with him.
SkipClan kits were found on the border, but Cloverfrond, Leafstar, and Dapplepaw safely returned them.
Sunscratch: hey let’s train Mousepaw: yay! . . . when are we starting? Sunscratch: what? can’t ya teach yerself? Mousepaw: . . .

Daughter of Windflight and Rainfur
"Most of the warriors were unfamiliar to her, but in one of the front rows, she saw Dappletail, the ThunderClan elder who died from eating a rabbit poisoned by the Twolegs. The she-cat looked graceful and beautiful, not thin and desperate as she had been when Leafpaw last saw her."

question! how do you personally make the designs not 1 to 1 copies of the sprites? still struggling with that part in my own (wip) clangen blog !!
good question, especially since im not sure myself akjuhgnag
i guess i just... do whatever is fun? i have trouble sometimes with making my cats look different from their sprites, like i'm 'not being faithful to their designs' or whatever, so for me some of it is just getting over that. but also i like to look at other people's art to inspire myself. like 'wow that stripe pattern looks really cool, i should do something like that'. i also look at actual pictures of cats to pick stuff up
but also some of my design choices were just me misinterpreting the sprites lmao. fun fact goldenstar is only supposed to have One white ear, not two, and I didnt realize until after i'd drawn him, and by that point i just decided to go with it

CLANGEN UPDATE: ALL IS FAIR (in love and war)
Tumblr media
New update has gone live!
BIG CHANGES:
- Cats can now have more than one mate, with no upper limit.  The choose mate screen has been redesigned to support selecting multiple mates!
- In addition to two biological parents, cats can have an unlimited number of adoptive parents. Adoptive parents are treated the same as biological parents for relation-tracking. You can manually add new adoptive parents.
- New war system, with more fleshed out events. The game will now remember wars when you close and reopen.
- The way traits are assigned has been changed. Under the hood, cats have four personality facets that determine their trait.
- New skill system! Apprentices and kits now get low-level skills, and cats can have up to two skills. Skills are no longer linked to status/rank. Cats can now improve their skill as they age!
- With a new trait and skill system, the way mentors influence personality and skills has also changed.
- New sprite inspect screen, with options for viewing a cat in previous life-stages and saving the sprite as a transparent image.
- New murder events!
NEW VISUALS:
- Re-draw of the Classic Forest Camp!
- New colors: SIENNA, LILAC, GOLDEN-BROWN and CHOCOLATE
- New tortie patterns: ROSETAIL, SAFI, HALF, CHIMERA, SMUDGED, DAUB, DAPPLENIGHT, STREAK, MASK, CHEST, ARMTAIL, and EMBER
- New white patches: DIVA, SAVANNAH, FADESPOTS, SHIBAINU, TOPCOVER, DAPPLEPAW, BEARD, PEBBLESHINE, OWL, WOODPECKER, MISS, BOOTS, COW, COWTWO and BUB
- New vitiligo pattern: BLEACHED
- Pelt tints have been adjusted.
OTHER CHANGES:
- More cat history information is now stored, including the moon-number that some important events occur. (Note: some history information on old saves may be lost)
- More in-depth relationship information on the family tree.
- The current event-list is now saved with clan information, and persists upon closing and reopening the game.
- You can now "un-retire" cats.
- A new way for same-sex couples to adopt if same-sex breeding is turned off.
- New personality traits have been added: arrogant, competitive, grumpy, cunning, oblivious, gloomy, sincere, flamboyant, and rebellious
- Severe conditions no longer have a 100% chance of causing early retirement.
- Fleshed out leader ceremonies, with more trait dependence and tasty flavor text.
- New patrols, thoughts, events, names
- Official Social Media buttons added to the start screen.
- Some keybinds added for easy navigation.
- "Cat List" and "StarClan" tabs have been combined. Some buttons on the cat profile page have been reorganized.
- Save-file corruption (nullification) has been fixed.
- Lots of small tweaks to event chances.
- Bugfixes galore!

Moon 315-Greenleaf
Flailpaw (7) seems to have been working himself too hard in the greenleaf heat and gets heat exhaustion.  With the tensions on ElementClan’s borders, he’s worried about how they will fare without him to fight.  Dawnstar’s (99) not worried though.  The Clan is strong.  And has plenty of dark-cursed cats.  They even have a couple of star-blessed cats, which is a little weird for them.  Dawnstar does like Burdockbeam (31), though, and surprises her with a day off from patrols.  More time for her to prank cats. . .Aphidwhisker (12) loves playing with the way the dark and light emanating off her pelt looks.  Cavecatcher (73) is jealous of her.  Tanglechirp (62) chats quietly about it with him while they’re on guard duty.  Even so, Aphidwhisker is closer to her dad than Dapplepaw (12) is and smiles at him whenever they meet.  Copperheart (31) has decided that making cats fight each other is her favorite brand of trouble to cause.  She starts a fight between Hatchswipe (60) and Pebbletuft (48) that leaves the healer fuming.  Pebbletuft also wishes that Mistypaw (7) would show more initiative in his training.  She’s disappointed in him (like she has any say in his training, at all).  She complains about him (and Hatchswipe) to Longpelt (29).  Longpelt is impressed by her insight into their fellow clanmates.  Cinderblockpuddle (234), despite being old and injured, wants to sneak out of camp with Flailpaw (who is also injured).  Pebbletuft catches them and scares them back to their nests.  Croucheye (26) doesn’t know if she’s ready for an apprentice.  She feels like she’s too jumpy.  An owl scared her last night.  An owl!  How embarrassing. Her apprentice, Mistypaw, knows that the warrior code says elders must be fed first, so he brings a hare to Cinderblockpuddle and Cherviljumble (120).
Healer’s den: Cavecatcher (mangled tail), Flailpaw (heat exhaustion), Cinderblockpuddle (head damage)

Getting my ask in for Clanmew day! I translated some of my OCs from a personal project - they might not be fully accurate, but I tried my best.
Hindstar - Nisushai
For this one, I did a contraction of Niaa and usihu - I chose 'hind' instead of just 'doe' or 'deer' for her name to sound old and grand, which she definitely... tries to be. Her name is specifically meant to be archaic, evoking an old glory.
Deerspring - Augyiao
Pretty direct translation. If -spring wasn't a loanword, I would have it specified as the future tense, "deer about to spring." My cats are in North America, so her name would refer to a whitetail rather than a red deer, but I'm not sure how to translate whitetail calls.
Fawnspots - Mweenwoowoo
Again, pretty direct. She and Deerspring are sisters, and I wanted to give her a relatively plain name for contrast. It makes for a good nickname - I cannot imagine a better one than Weewoo.
Dapplepaw - Paplapwyr
Direct translation. I toyed around with the idea of contracting dapple with fawn to make Mylapwyr, both to tie her more directly into the deer theme of her family and to reference her mother.
Velvetpaw - Gawrekpwyr
Direct translation, don't have much to say on them - although, iirc, I sent an ask forever ago about antler velvet for their name and I think it ended up turning into the guide on deer.
Littlebird - Eebwipwik
"Small quail" - he's the father of Dapple and Velvet, and doesn't have the deer theming. His family has game-bird theming, but 'Littlequail' didn't sound quite right to me so I went with Littlebird instead. I like saying his Clanmew name though.
You're probably correct! Occasionally a Clanmew ask ends up becoming a full fauna guide. Yours probably became the one on deer broadly, the category of "Kleka" including sheep and horses.
So with all the deer totally covered, and your OCs all having great names, here's some fun words for Littlebird and his side of the family.
Wattle = Shubpi
The fleshy facial parts of a male pheasant or the head feather on a male quail.
Interesting etymological origin; the word "Shub" had a use in Old Tribemew AND Parkmew. In Tribemew, it meant Gray as in the normal color of the sky in England; inconspicuous; humble. In Parkmew, it meant uncooked chicken, especially guts and edible bones, rare treats that were not particularly common in the Park and had to be acquired from the wider city.
The siblings Gray Wing and Clear Sky were referring to a wing that blends in with cloud cover, and a blue sky that would put such a bird on full display. Since Gray Wing the Wise was killed before ever meeting a Tribe Cat, xey were associated more strongly with xeir role in death as a great, holy sage of wisdom, conveniently tied to their concept of delicious chicken.
And what's closer to a chicken than a pheasant?
As the two cultures mixed to create what we now know as Clan Culture, the many uses of Shub mingled. Gray Wing the Wise became associated with pheasants, the mid-gray color of thinner clouds with the sun behind them, and revelations of hidden or ancient knowledge. Xeir appearance as a patron reflects that, with prominent wattles over both eyes.
So "wattle" is a contraction of Gray + Perceive. It's also used to quickly describe just about any fancy bit of adornment on the head of a bird.
A fantastical bird = Eer-roo
Before the meeting with the Tribe after the destruction of the White Hart, Clan cats no longer saw eagles, and slowly forgot the truth of chickens as they were confined to farms.
The two things merged into one fantastical animal. A massive predator bearing the most delicious meat you've ever tasted, bearing a huge wattle and thick skin as if its hide was already tanned, big enough to carry off hogs and so heavy that it could only fly by jumping off the highstones.
Could be described as a feathered dragon. Its wisdom is stressed in the tales, unlike many other mythological beasts, even able to trick careless TigerClan warriors.
