dakota expresses interest in trish’s career as a superhero (which she gives up in most part a handful of years after adopting him, but keeps herself in shape and up to date and occasionally helps out), though daph and trish both tell him he’s not permitted to take up a title and a role until he’s of-age and it can be his own decision. he is, however, rigorously (and lovingly) taught krav maga and a few instances of capoeira, along with daphne’s sheer razor sharp wit and improvisation skills. until he’s deemed seasoned in those things, he’s not permitted a cowl or a suit. of course uncle alana and aunt lena will be making his the second he’s worthy of a mantle, and he takes on a feline-oriented persona just like his mom.

anyone who thinks dorothy walker would’ve at any point gone to any struggle for trish to receive help in schooling or tried to acclimate to her differentiated learning/arrested development is out of their damn minds. during trish’s education in childhood it was still permitted for schools to assess a child without first parental permission so she had speech therapy and was put in special education classes after an iep was determined for her. otherwise, she would’ve greatly benefited from methods of nonverbal communication such as asl or literally anything but talking because she was so behind in learning/so influenced by her abuse and trauma. these have made her nonverbal panic attacks in adulthood and her powers shorting out her hearing much more complicated. by the time she and daphne adopt dakota, they both know and teach him asl so he doesn’t have to speak when he finds verbal communication difficult, stressful, or tiring. this, in particular, is very important to trish, thanks to her childhood where her individual needs were almost, almost totally ignored.

daphne has been kidnapped for her known connection to hellcat before (apart from consistently wearing hellcat paraphernalia in public photos, she’s been photographed doing things as mundane as fetching coffee with the costumed hero, and the internet speculates constantly she’s cheating on trish walker with none other than the feline vigilante) and has been a major pain in the ass.

for one, she has martial arts training in several light disciplines from some action movies and dark knight rises, so she’s by no means physically helpless. beyond that— she’s really mean and verbally sharp, and has been returned to her penthouse before by lighter criminals who couldn’t be bothered with the vast but logical list of shit they’d be in upon hellcat finding them/the consequences of kidnapping one of the world’s most prolific and reputable actresses. the few daring or stupid enough to go through with it have received an uncharacterostically violent thrashing from the hellcat.

daph always offers both cheery encouragement and sarcastic commentary through the whole thing.
