Always appreciated the simple but firm delivery of Sten’s “No.” when you ask him if he could tell you about the qunari. It’s always unintentionally funny and I appreciate a companion who will just say no and refuse to elaborate. More games should include one.

it’s surprising how easy it is to completely loathe Duncan if you’re tabris, especially f!tabris. you and other women were kidnapped to be raped and possibly killed and he can’t get involved bc of ~political neutrality~. all he’s willing to do is give untrained elves a few weapons, which results in your fiancé getting KILLED. bc he stood by and did absolutely nothing, multiple people are murdered and shianni is raped.

and he says ~political neutrality~ but my dude isn’t even wearing warden-identifying armor in the base game and you do such an intense bloodbath that nobody fucking knows who killed everybody! none of the elven servants rat you out and nobody knows! you can straight up lie to the guards and get Soris off completely scot-free, bc nobody’s alive to share the deets! Duncan could have absolutely joined you on your lil murder jaunt with none the wiser!

I have worked out why I dislike the Fade and the deep roads missions in dao. I can't read or navigate a map to save my life and I keep walking in god-damned circles. I'm in the deep roads now and I have gone down the same route a dozen times and I do it a dozen more times cos everything looks the same to me jfc why am I like this.

i know it will never happen but i so desperately desire an origins-type playable backstory thing in all games but especially veilguard. i feel like it added so much depth to origins and made you feel instantly connected to your character in a way that gets lost in games like inquisition where you fill in the blanks as you go except for the bare basics. like, i do enjoy the freedom to willy nilly decide where a character was before the events of the story from a creative perspective, but the playable origins were just so good! especially when you go back to where your warden is from and can engage differently with the arcs there

As I'm replaying Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, I'm going to use the conversation toolkit each time and in each area that Elven is used in the series.

I've already found several bits of elven that are not on the wiki at all. And for many of the text that never had a translation before, there are translations in the localization comments.

I did a poll on twitter asking people if they thought this was good enough evidence to update the elven wiki, and got a 99% yes answer, so I updated the dragon age elven wiki, with an explanation in the /talk section. (Anyone can open Origins dialogue tree files in the DA Toolkit and see that these translated comments are in their own version of Origins)

All of this to say, we finally can say we know the canon words for "mother" and "no" and "brother" and "sister" in elven in Dragon Age. And several new long phrases.

"Mamae? Mamae na mara san…" VO/Localization Comment: the young boy is crying pitifully, he asks "mah-MAY?" in a hopeful manner and then says "mah-MAY nah-MAH-rah san" hoplessly (as if saying "mother is gone")

"Mamae! Mamae, se vara sal!" VO/Localization Comment: phonetically: mah-MAY! mah-MAY! suh VAH-rah sawl! he is calling out for his mother as he says this, crying pitifully

"Mamae! Mamae! Mamae!" VO/Localization Comment: The child begins calling out in a strange language for someone. He begins to sob uncontrollably and shouts louder. "mah-MAY" = mother

The last phrase "nay mahl" should be shrieked in terror as the elf turns and run

"Ir emah'la shal! Ir emah'la shal!" VO/Localization Comment: "I will kill you! I will kill you!" eer ay-MAY-la shahl! eer ay-MAY-la shahl! she turns on the player in terror, savagely attacking him (combat begins)

managed to grab a screencap of my tabris yesterday. i installed some great tabris family morphs and had to make a tabris to match + I wanted to use a bunch of mods I found (like the hair and vitiligo mods, plus her skin tone and eyes are both from mods). i think she turned out very pretty!
