I love the ending of night country where they're like 'where is navarro?' and jodie foster went 'have you seen outside? It's dark all the time but don't worry there's so much snow no one can leave' and it turned out that navarro was at her house the whole time

Kara/Sam. Kara being distracted by Sam’s hands (possibly already in a secret relationship?)
Thank you for the prompt! I'd recommend reading THIS fic first 🥰
And this one-shot is based off this gif of Rhaenyra and Alicent:
Tumblr media
Having been kicked out from home at such an early age had left Sam with a low sense of her self-worth and thus it had taken her many years of therapy to figure out things she could take pride in herself. One skill she had added to her list quite early on was the ability to stay focused during long, dreary meetings. However, ever since she retained her Kryptonian powers after Reign's banishment, Sam had found it much more difficult to stay present when her nose could detect a plethora of smells in a single person, let alone a room full of people; or when her ears could inform her of every single bodily function happening to each person in attendance regardless of their consciousness of the acts.
Another added novelty that came along with her newly gained powers was the invitation to be brought into the DEO as a super-hero in training (or, as Sam preferred to think of, a back-up hero in case Supergirl needed help). There were many perks that came with such invitation, but the downside was being stuck in debriefings about the latest active alien criminals in National City, and that's where Sam found herself at the moment.
J'onn had been dragging on about one alien or another and Sam had completely checked out, playing mindlessly with a random globe she had found on the desk when they had sat down for the meeting.
It was only when a scent that had recently become familiar to her made itself known that Sam's attention was snapped back to the present. She discreetly looked across the large meeting table to find Kara blushing and breathing slightly faster than normal.
What... Sam frowned in thought trying to understand what could possibly have been happening to garner such reaction when she noticed lust-filled eyes attentively following each motion of her fingers over the smooth globe.
Oh.
Sam sat a little taller and the movement caused Kara's eyes to lift, meeting hers. Sam smirked and Kara blushed hard at being caught, averting her gaze and shifting uncomfortably on her seat.
Discreetly grabbing her cellphone, Sam quickly typed a message to Kara and waited. She heard the buzzing coming from within Kara's pant pocket and watched from the corner of her eyes as she fished it out to read the message.
Kara's heartbeat stuttered hard at the words. "Keep watching." She wondered if anyone else in the room could feel the way her burning cheeks were making the temperature rise, or if that was a punishment devised solely for her, but Kara did as commanded and refocused her gaze on Sam's hand.
She drank in the way elegant, slender fingers rolled the sphere with ease, toying with it between fingertips just as Kara had toyed with Sam just a couple of nights before. Back then, Sam had made herself vulnerable, letting Kara take the lead and dictate their pace, but it was clear that Sam had reclaimed her poise and assertiveness—Kara could not say she disliked the shift.
"And what is Supergirl's opinion on the matter?" Sam asked, surprising Kara who looked at her like a deer caught in headlights. "As the resident hero who has so expertly handled so much raw power before, your opinion is...paramount."
Kara gawked at Sam who simply smirked back at her. "I... Um... I-I..."
Uncrossing her legs, Sam licked her lips before speaking directly at Kara although it would seem to everyone else she was still addressing J'onn and his latest issue. "I'm sure you could patrol the city, sniff out any trouble that might be brewing..."
There was only a hint of doubt on Kara's feature before she took a long, deep breath. The smell of Sam's arousal had her mouth watering and her cheeks becoming impossibly redder, but Kara was not one to quit. Swallowing hard, she quickly glanced at J'onn to give him some sort of acknowledgement, before turning her gaze back to Sam's fingers. "Y-Yeah. I, um, there's nothing I wouldn't do to have-" you "the city safe again."
J'onn fortified his mental walls, not needing his telepathy to know that whatever was happening between the two Kryptonians was definitely *none* of his business.
Clearing his throat, he said, "Yes, thank you. I'll let you know the plan as soon as we iron out the details. Supergirl, Sam, you're dismissed. Everyone else, let's continue."
Grinning slyly at Kara, Sam spun the globe before gracefully rising from her seat and walking out of the room, listening to Kara stumble to follow after her.

Mission gone wrong
Tumblr media
The DEO infirmary went silent when director Danvers walked in closely followed by supergirl. It was supposed to be a recon mission observe and report. That’s why Alex felt okay sending you on it without her or Kara their. However it was a trap, your team leader ended up putting everyone in harms way which resulted in multiple injuries. You unfortunately got some of the worst of it.
Kara was by your bed instantly gathering you in her arms, offering words of comfort. Alex in the meantime was chewing out the responsible party.
“You’re on desk duty until further notice. Then there will be a formal review on your employment here. I can however promise you one thing you will never for as long as I am director lead another mission again.”
Alex’s voice had been lowered in a tone that sent a chill down the spine of everyone in the room, including Kara’s.
After talking to the doctor about the extent of your injuries your eldest sister gave you a hug of her own before her and Kara took you home.
While Kara was out doing her nightly patrol as supergirl Alex helped you get comfortable on the couch. “Here babe, this medication should help with the pain,” she said handing you your prescription.
“Thanks,” you said before downing it with the water Kara got you before leaving.
“I’m sorry about what happened today kiddo, I should’ve been there to protect you.”
“You can’t always be their Alex. I was gonna have to go on a mission without you sooner or later.”
“I know, I just hate seeing you in pain,” she said hugging you. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you replied. “What do you want to order for dinner?”
“Whatever you want kiddo, it’s up to you.”
“Okay, but let’s wait until Kara gets back to order I’m kind of tired right now,” you said closing your eyes.
Alex moved your head carefully so she could sit down on the couch and have you laying on her lap you fell asleep to the feeling of Alex rhythmically playing with your hair.

Little ball of fur.
Supergirl, Kara Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Alex Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader
Word count: 1330.
Notes: Thanks for the prompt @ynimagines, and I'm really sorry for your loss
“Y/N! I’m here!” Kara announces herself, going inside your apartment, using the key you gave her for emergencies only. Granted, you are in an emergency, but she uses the key all the time, emergency or not.
“Kara, oh, thank God.” You run to her, throwing yourself into her arms. “It’s Sheldon. I-I don’t know where he is. He was here when I left for work and- God, he must have got out and I didn’t notice this morning. Oh God.”
“Don’t worry, sis. I’ll help you look for him, ok? Let’s call Alex too.” Kara cleans your tears, the ones you couldn’t hold back.
Having Supergirl looking for a cat sounds stupid. She could be doing far more important things. But right now, when your pet is missing, you can’t think of anything that’s more important than finding him.
You go around your block with his favorite toy, making noises with it so he can hear you. Alex soon joins the search, going to the opposite side. Supergirl patrols from the sky thoroughly.
Alex slipped a comm into your ear before the three of you parted ways, but it’s not only after midnight that you hear Kara’s voice.
“Guys, head back home. I have news.”
Her tone says too much. Says it all, actually. If she had found Sheldon safe and sound she would just be yelling and celebrating through the comms. You would probably already have him back in your arms right now and she would be going out to buy celebratory food, or whatever.
You sit on the sidewalk, to be fair it’s more like your legs are weak and you can’t hold yourself up at that moment. It’s weird, but you always had a really strong connection with him so you know exactly what’s happening. Sheldon isn’t coming back to you, at least, not alive.
Tears stream down your face and they keep on coming no matter how hard you want to stop, get up, and go home to do basically the same thing, but in the comfort of your house.
“Oh, Y/N.” Alex is the first one to find you. She sits next to you pulling you closer, and kissing the top of your head. “Oh, honey, I’m so sorry.”
“He was my best friend.” You cry and cry. Words faltering and nothing makes sense in your mind anymore.
You feel so alone and empty. How can he just be gone just like that? You didn’t always have Sheldon in your life, but now that you did, you can’t fathom the thought of having to go on without him.
“I’m so sorry.” She repeats on top of your head in a painful whisper. “He was a really good cat and we all loved him very much.”
“Yeah.” You try to clean your face, just so you can make space for the new tears that are coming.
Supergirl lands in front of you, with a shoebox in hand. “I’m sorry, baby. A car-”
She doesn’t finish. Doesn’t have to. It’s  kind of obvious and you can piece it together. She gives you his collar, and you clench to it crying harder.
“Come on, baby.” Kara hands Alex the shoebox and picks you up from the sidewalk, knowing you cannot walk back home right now. You curl yourself on her, crying in her suit. She tries her best to calm you, but the truth is, there is nothing she can say. There’s nothing anyone can say to ease your heart right now. It’s a loss, and it’s a pain, only people who have deeply loved and lost their pets will understand.
You wake up the next day, not knowing how you slept, but you’re still clenching to Sheldon’s collar. You hear a noise in the kitchen and realize your sisters are up until now in your apartment.
“Hey, Y/N.” Alex says looking at you from the other side of the counter. Your heart squeezes on your chest because you kind of can guess what is the next sentence. And you cannot, for the life of you, tell her how you’re feeling. “Coffee?”
You breathe out, relieved. “Thanks.”
“I took the liberty to call in sick for you at work today.” Kara comes closer with a coffee mug for you, and you agree with your head, feeling the coffee help warm you up. She kisses the crown of your head. “I was thinking we could hold a memorial for him later tonight? You know how much everyone loved him and would like to be here for you. But only if you’re ok with it.”
You swallow the lump on your throat and the tears that insist on coming when you realize that last night actually happened and you did just lose your cat. Oh God.
“Sure.”
You make your way to the couch, and your sisters stare at each other, like they’re deciding what to do next.
“Get food into her.” Alex is clearly talking to Kara, and she comes closer with pancakes for you. “Hey, baby. I have to go to work, but Kara will stay here with you. I made you pancakes, please eat something ok?”
“Yeah.”
She kisses your forehead, delicately. “I love you. I’ll see you tonight.”
“I love you too.”
Alex leaves you with Kara, and she insists on you eating everything and only leaves to go to work once she sees you actually did it.
She called in sick for you, but it would be impossible for the two of them to do the same. But they still call you a few times during the day, and Supergirl drops by a couple of times as well, one in which she helps you pack all of Sheldon’s things, and hide them on the top shelf so you can’t be tempted to look at it all the time.
It’s night when they both show up at your door all dressed in black. Kara cleans your tears again, and they both pull you into a hug.
“I found a nice place for him.” Kara assures you, hugging you sideways, so she is sure you’re going to make it to the place without crumbling down.
You do make it to the place, to realize it is a pet cemetery. There’s even a tombstone for him. All of the Superfriends are there, and they all give speeches about Sheldon, but you can barely hear them.
Your eyes are trained on what’s written on his tombstone. Sheldon Danvers. Little ball of fur. You smile through the tears, feeling both of your sisters' arms around you.
You look up, paying attention to the end of Kara’s speech. “And don’t worry, fur ball, we’ll take good care of Y/N for you.”
You smile at her, thankful.
“Do you wanna say something, baby?” Alex asks, squeezing you tighter.
“Hey Shelbun, it’s kind of crazy realizing that I’ll not see you laying around the furniture anymore and that I don’t have to keep random boxes for you to play inside anymore. I think I’ll still keep them for a while, and they’ll sure feel empty just like my apartment and my heart without you. But I’ll be ok.” You look around your sisters and your friends, and nod to yourself. “I’ll be alright with time ‘cause I have these amazing people around me.” You smile, looking at his tombstone one more time. “I hope they have lots of yarn balls where you’re heading to. I’ll always love you, my little ball of fur. Thank you for everything.”
Your sisters hug you tightly. Soon, all of your friends come to give you some comfort, and sure, this will not bring your cat back, no matter how much you wish for it, but it helps a lot to know you’re not alone.
Kara and Alex both kiss the top of your head sweetly, and you are sure you’ll never be alone having them by your side.

Terrible Cover Story
Supercorptober Day 29 - Bonfire
“I said I was sorry!”
“Sorry doesn’t help us right now, Kara!”
“Don’t shout at me.” Kara pouts. “Everything will be just fine, I promise.”
Lena turns away from her, her feet sinking into the sand of the beach. “We are trapped on an island in the middle of nowhere, Kara. I don’t see how anything is going to be just fine.”
Kara wriggles her toes wishing for nothing more than to be barefoot so she can feel the sand against her skin. “Let’s take a walk up the beach, there might be someone around to help us.”
“We’re on a deserted island, there won’t be anyone to help us.”
“There’s no proof it’s deserted, you’re just assuming that. Come on.” Kara offers her elbow to Lena, jiggling it a little when Lena doesn’t immediately grab hold and start walking with her.
Lena takes her arm with a huff, trudging her way through the sand in her ungodly heels, wincing at the abrasion of the sand catching beneath her toes.
The crashing of waves soothe Lena’s headache somewhat, the water a calming device that she didn’t know she needed in this precarious situation.
“I just – I thought you’d gotten better at knowing when you’re at your limits, so having you be forced to land on a random island because your powers are giving out is a really strange thing to happen.” Lena says, voice much calmer now.
Kara shakes her head. “I thought so too, it just hit me that I felt tired and then it became harder to fly. There’s a chance that I could have made it back but I didn’t want to risk trying when I had such precious cargo.”
That draws a smile out of Lena, albeit a small one.
With Lena’s hand wrapped tightly around Kara’s arm, using her as a crutch so she doesn’t lose her footing in the loose sand, they wander on along the beach. Lena’s nerves rising while Kara looks perfectly serene, content in their stroll.
It’s only when Lena sees the comforting wisps of smoke from up the beach and nestled into the treeline that she lets herself smile. “Kara, if there’s fire then there must be people!”
Kara grins at her. “Let’s go check it out then.”
Kara has to scurry to keep up with Lena, her hand still clinging to the blonde’s arm as she drags her across the sand, never taking her eyes off the smoke.
They reach the treeline, Kara wrapping her arm around Lena’s waist when they get close enough to see the flames.
It’s a full fledged bonfire, set up perfectly with log benches surrounding the fire pit. Lena turns to Kara, excited. “I think we hit it jackpot.”
“Yeah, and take a look up there, babe.” Kara points up a small gravel path leading further into the trees to where a wooden chalet sits in a small clearing.
Lena’s jaw drops. “What the-“
“I may have told a tiny lie about losing my powers. Happy surprise vacation!” Kara grins, chest puffed out in pride.
Lena stares at her, eyes wide and lips parted. “Are you being serious?”
“Deadly, I sorted it out with Jess and Sam for them to get you the week off and I took some of my vacation time from CatCo. J’onn and Nia are taking over my patrols and I checked the signal watches were all functional before I left. Our bags are already inside, Sam packed yours for you.”
A fond glaze overcomes Lena’s face, blown away that she has someone in her life so willing to go to these lengths for her. “You set up a surprise vacation for us?”
“I did. You want to check out the chalet?” Kara is practically jumping for joy that Lena seems to like her surprise and hasn’t tried to complain about missing work.
Lena takes her up on her offer right away, grabbing Kara’s hand as they walk, a lot more relaxed now she knows they aren’t stranded here. Thank fuck.
The chalet is beautiful, both inside and out. The space is open and light, plants littering almost every surface. Kara takes her right through to the bedroom.
Lena giggles at the rose petals covering the bed and the bottle of champagne waiting for them in an ice bucket on one of the nightstands. “Why, Ms. Danvers, are you trying to seduce me?”
Kara smiles as she pulls Lena into a kiss before whispering against her lips. “Maybe, is it working?”
Lena suddenly pulls back. “Was it complementary with the booking?”
The look on Kara’s face gives her answer away.
“Knew it.” Lena hit her with a cheeky grin. “Nice try though, darling.”
Kara’s shoulder slump and her lips form a pout. “Fine, fine. It was complementary, but I still very much intend to enjoy it.”
“Me, too. Shall we crack the champagne open?”
Kara grabs the bottle and the glasses sitting beside the ice bucket. “How about we take this outside? It will be nice to sit by the pool with a glass.”
Kara wanders outside with Lena hot on her heels. “There’s a pool too?”
Lena gasps at the pool around the back of the chalet, the sun glistening through the water. “You’ve outdone yourself.”
“Why, thank you.” Kara drops pours the champagne and places the bottle between two lounge chairs then presses the button to make her super suit dematerialize.
It’s not Lena’s fault that her girlfriend is extraordinarily hot and is now standing in front of her in nothing but a bikini, looking absolutely radiant. “That’s an even better surprise.”
Kara Danvers in a midnight blue bikini with all of her godly muscles on show – yes please.
Lena licks her lips. “Damn.”
Kara hits Lena with the sexiest smirk she’s ever seen her pull off. “Good?”
“Great, I’m going to go see if Sam packed me anything good, I wouldn’t want you to feel like you’re the only one making an effort.” Lena looks back over her shoulder at Kara one last time, praying that her best friend has packed her something that will make Kara drool.
She comes out not two minutes later in a simple black bikini with straps scissoring across her waist. She’s not all that fond of them because of the tan lines she’s certain they’ll leave but all in all, this is the perfect set to make Kara lose her mind.
And lose her mind, she does. “Lena…I – wow. You’re beautiful.” Kara stutters out.
“Thank you, darling.” Lena takes the seat next to Kara, picking up her glass of champagne and taking a sip. “Although, I can’t see us staying clothed for much longer.”
Kara grins like Lena just presented her with the biggest plate of potstickers in the world. “I’m buying what you’re selling.”
Lena has to admit how endearing it is that she has ended up with a little puppy dog of a girlfriend. She really is the perfect match for her, happy to indulge Lena in her science-y rambles late at night, always boosting her self-esteem that was shattered before they met, and when necessary, she’s willing to put her foot down and tell her when she’s making a mistake, being a jerk or not looking after herself.
“Thank you for this.” Lena drops her sunglasses from the top of her head to cover her eyes so she can see Kara better.
Kara shrugs, a little shy. “It wasn’t all selfless.”
“That doesn’t mean you haven’t done something incredible for us. The only bad part of your planning was your strange idea to make me think we were stranded.”
Kara winces in embarrassment. “That wasn’t planned, I just couldn’t come up with any other excuse on the spot for why we had to land here, and I wanted you to be surprised when you saw the chalet.”
“Yeah, you’ve never been good at excuses, it’s one of your more endearing qualities, but in all seriousness, I am really grateful. I can’t believe you actually pulled it off.”
Kara laughs at Lena’s shock. “Well, I had help. I just knew that we needed a break, Lately we’ve been falling asleep on our feet between work and helping out with the set up of the new DEO. When Jess called me last week to tell me that you’d fallen asleep at your desk and I struggled to muster the energy to come get you, I knew we needed time to recharge. Jess did a lot of the work really.”
“I’m not all that surprised about that, but you’re right, we’ve been dead on our feet for weeks and something needs to give.”
“Yep, and what needs to give, is the masseuse across the island needs to give me a massage.”
“There’s a masseuse?”
“Yep.”
“I love you.”
Kara shakes her head at Lena’s sudden burst of excitement. “I know, I have us booked for a couples massage tomorrow, we get to relax for the rest of the day and then I was thinking that we could take a walk along the beach at sunset followed by snuggling by the firepit.”
“I double love you.”
“I love you too, now, I think that these bikinis are restricting our blood flow and should be removed instantly for safety reasons.”
“I’m all for safety.” Lena stands ,a goofy smile in place despite her sultry tone, and drops her bikini and revelling in the way Kara’s eyes ravish her. She truly feels like the most loved woman on the planet.

Part 1

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turns out Fury's idea of being far away from New York was a city called National City. Before stepping on the quinjet that took you away from the tower, you had never heard of it. That was most likely because the city had its own residential superhero, so The Avengers were never needed for any crisis.
The city itself was smaller than New York, and you liked that. There were no masses of people running around, and it was a city you could see yourself living in. It also had its own government organization called the DEO.
The Avengers worked more on global treats, or more accurate the avengers dealt more with HYDRA. The DEO mostly worked with cases involving aliens or local matters, and they only did global treats when needed. The local superheroes and the superfriends worked with them closely.
Supergirl, aka Kara Zor'ell Danvers, was the adoptive sister of the director of the DEO, Alex Danvers. Fury got you a report of everybody working there, but you only their names, not wanting to form any opinions about them before you even met them.
The former director was the one who helped you get a job. Apparently, he and Fury went way back. He convinced Alex Danvers to give you a shot and hire you, which you would be eternally grateful for.
The first meeting you had with everybody was different from the one you had with The Avengers. Everybody of the super friends who lived in National City was there. Plus, the director and the CEO of some companies. Supergirl was the first to greet you, and just like your brother, she zooms over to you at an inhuman speed, almost knocking you over. She met you with a genuine smile; you are taken aback by this. The Avengers weren't even this open with their own teammates.
The other team members had the same kind of openness, maybe to some lesser degree than the human puppy in front of you. There was Alex Danvers, who stood a little in front of the rest. She was wearing some tactical outfit and had her arms crossed over her chest. She really got the badass lesbian vibe around her. You weren't sure you wanted to mess with her, although Kara was obviously the alien here. You could see a small smile under the hard gaze she gave you.
"Hi, I'm Kara! Jonh has told us a lot about you. We are all so happy that you are going to join us. I can't wait to go on patrol with you." Kara continued to ramble as the rest of the team introduced themselves.
Nia was as enthusiastic as Kara was. The man standing next to her was a little eccentric. You could see a similarity in his eyes, but you couldn't remember where you had ever seen him before.
Next came Lena Luthor. From what you gathered, she wasn't much of a superhero, more somebody who assisted in the lab and alien technology. She also was the CEO of a large multi-billion company. Lena was a little more reserved in her greeting than the other two women, almost like she was afraid about what you would say and here you were feeling you should be the one scared of their reactions.
The last person was Alex Danvers, the redhead was stunning although the same as Lena, a little bit distant. She went over you with a critical eye before extending her hand. She looked like somebody that you could depend on her if you got her trust. You figured you would have to prove yourself before they would start trusting you, and you could live with that.
Apparently, you would only have to do that with Lena and Alex. Kara and Nia treated you like you had known them forever.
Nia and Kara dragged you toward the training room almost immediately after the meeting. Begging to see your powers and want to do some sparring sessions. You had to admit that it was nice training with other people who didn't want to use you as a punching bag after a bad mission.
It took almost two months for Alex and Lena to start trusting you as you expected. Ironically it happened during a life or death situation. A situation where you thought that even with your powers, you wouldn't be able to survive, even though you had greatly improved your control over them.
You and Alex were on a mission to retrieve information about what you all believed to be an abandoned CADMUS base. Hoping to find some new intel on their latest weapon.
The facility wasn't abandoned, and you and Alex ended up in a shoot out. Turned free for all on your way out. Just barely able to drag Elex behind a concrete wall to take cover.
"they have to run out of bullets eventually, right?" you joke while ducking back behind the wall, while bullets fly over your head. With the amount of firepower they had, they were about to tear through it in minutes. Alex only scowled ad you. Okay, maybe not the time for joking.
"our coms are down, so we are on our own. Any ideas on how to get out of here before we are turned into Swiss cheese." Alex asks while checking her gun, looking up at you. You had covered her body with yours to protect her from any stray bullets.
The situation was dire, and both of you needed an extreme solution. Even if you got to Kara or the DEO, they wouldn't be able to get here in time. There was no way you were letting Alex get hurt in a hell hole like this.
"Alex, I may know a way out of here, but you will have to trust me. You are going to have to do exactly as I say, and we may get out of here alive." You hoped she would trust you, and by some small miracle, she nodded and took your hand.
The moment she did, you engulfed the two of you in one of your forcefields. The moment you did, the first bullets got through the wall. Bullets come into contact with your forcefield, and you have to concentrate on keeping it up. This still didn't help to get out of this situation. You had an idea to get rid of the guns, the only problem. You had never done two things at once with your powers.
While maintaining the force field, you concentrated your energy on all the guns in the room. You didn't really think it would work, but it did by some small blessing by the gods. It did cause your energy to drain more rapidly, so you had to wrap this up fast.
All the goons around you seemed to be too freaked out about what was happening, and you didn't want to see how long you could keep this up, so you started leading Alex toward the door behind you. Luckily the gunmen are too confused to follow.
The moment you stumble through the outer doors, you can let go of Alex and make out a red and blue shape through blurry vision and somebody calling out your name before you fall face-first to the ground. Only narrowly being caught by the Kryptonian before you u lose consciousness.
You awaken two hours later in the DEO medical ward with a passing director in your room. When she notices you are awake, she pounces on you and hugs you so tight you could have sworn Kara was the one hugging you.
"what you did today was very reckless. You could have killed yourself." The redhead scolded you after your hug. Makes you chuckle.
"I could never let a pretty woman like you get hurt." The painkillers they must have given you must be strong if they loosened your tongue like this. Too high on the medication, you don't see Alex's face turn all red. With a quick thank you for saving her life, she left the room, leaving you stunned at her sudden departure.
After that mission, you and Alex get closer and go on multiple mission that strengthens that bond even more. So the inevitable happens on one particular game night with only Alex, Kara and Lena. You don't know if it is the bond you feel toward these three women or the alcohol, but you end up spilling your whole story.
You tell them about why you left your previous team even though your brother and sister are still there. You even told them what your sister and ex-girlfriend did.
Alex doesn't hesitate told let you cry on her shoulder, and even Kara and Lena jump in to cheer you up. That is the moment you knew you had found a real family. The family betrayal is also the thing you and Lena bond over. The two of you had gotten close and even helped you understand the science and encouraged you to go back to school to get a degree, saying she would be happy to pay to get a brilliant mind like yours even brighter.
Lena had always kept you at arm's length. Afraid you would turn on her like so many others had done once they learned what her brother had done. You were happy she would finally call you a friend.
After the whole crying session, Kara and Lena stepped out of the room for a bit to give you some breathing room. While Alex was holding you in your vulnerable state, at that moment, you sat her in a new light, and it scared and excited you at the same time.
It takes about three months before you are courageous enough to act on your feelings. You also had to give yourself the time to get over Natasha.
When your lips did finally touch, it was like sparks were flying. It is a feeling that, to this day, nobody has ever given you, not even Natasha, and the sense of Alex kissing you back was even better.
"I have been wanting to do that for a while." Alex confesses. Her eyes were still glossy from the kiss.
"me too. I just had to come to terms with my relationship with Natasha first, and after I did that, I had to find the courage to tell you." You mumble while looking at the ground. Instead of giving you some emotional speech, Alex lifts your head and kisses you again, making you forget your worries.
You and Alex have been going strong for the past three years, and you couldn't be happier. Being with Alex was like nothing you had ever experienced before. She was thoughtful and attentive, also a hopeless romantic. Like every relationship, it had its bumps and bruises, but the two of you had only come out stronger.
Your insecurities still plagued you some days about what happened with Natasha, Wanda, and Alex. Instead of dismissing your feelings, she was always there to support you. Something you couldn't say about Natasha. Natasha wasn't the emotional type and expected you to be the same, which was something you couldn't do.
The relationship you had with Natasha was like a raging inferno. Explosive in the good and bad moments. Hot moments of love and heated arguments. With Alex, it was completely different. With her, it felt like an eternal flame. It had moments where it simmered down to a little candlelight and moments of spontaneous combustion, but most importantly, it never extinguished and kept on burning.
Maybe even more important than that, Alex felled the same way toward you.
The rest of the team had also become your family over that time period. You even asked and even went ring shopping with you when you thought about proposing. You were also the one who helped Lena confess her love to Kara. God only knows how long they have been dancing around one another, although Lena would say the same about you. The confession was made over a small dinner consisting of Kara's favourite food, meaning any food. It was sweet at first, but you had to bleach your brain later on, and Alex had to comfort you.
If you and Alex had a honeymoon phase, then Kara and Lena had it on steroids, and both you and Alex walked in on them on multiple occasions. It still baffled you that Kara could not pick up people getting near when they were doing the nasty with all her enhanced senses.
After the fifth time picking up on Lena's sexual thoughts toward Kara, you invented a thought blocker. The device did exactly what it sounded like, and it prevented a telepath from reading or manipulating the person's mind. You had also powered it with your powers, making it completely controllable by you with a simple thought.
Eventually, it became standard gear for the superfriends. It made your life a lot easier. These days you lived for the days when you could be in your apartment with Alex in your arms watching some movies, and it was heaven on earth for you.
The apartment you lived in with Alex was one you shared with Kara and Lena. It was big enough that the four of you could live as separate couples with only a shared kitchen and living room. You had also made sure the bedrooms and bathrooms were sound proved and lead-lined. When asking Lena for this, she said it was okay because she wanted to make some modifications. Now her and Kara's bedroom and bathroom had red sunlamps on top of the regular ones. You were a little confused about why they needed it, but when you asked Alex, she only called you adorable with a little blush before exiting the room.
The four of you chose to live together because it would be safer with the constant threats to Lena's life and your work at the DEO. It also caused that nobody was alone if a mission took longer than a day, and since you had taken on a spot at the DEO labs, you could drag Lena and Alex home when they were being workaholics.
When Pietro heard of your engagement, he promised to come and visit soon but hadn't found the time jet. From what you had heard about SHIELD and The Avengers, you didn't blame him.
Pietro was the only one you still talked to from your past, and you hoped to keep it that way. Deep down, you knew it would come back to haunt you someday, one way or another.

Headcanons for being an Avenger with a photographic memory
Avengers x reader
warnings: alcohol mention
a/n:
prompt: anonymous: “Hcs for the Avengers with reader who has eidetic memory? They just remember ever little detail about everyone there?”
Tumblr media
you were a great asset on intelligence missions, for starters!
if data couldn’t physically be acquired, they’d send you in to gather info
“y/n, everything going okay in there?” -cap
“well, yes and no”
“what is that supposed to mean?”
“the mission is going smoothly, don’t worry...but while searching these files, i found some...unsavory images that i’ll never be able to forget”
“i don’t want to know”
remembering all the avengers passwords for all of their accounts, which is both a blessing and a curse
“y/n, what’s my instagram password again?” -tony
“man-of-iron79”
“thanks! you’re a lifesaver!”
or you could pull some REALLY FANTASTIC pranks on them by sending very questionable emails to nick fury
Dear Fury, I am afraid that I prefer the ice over this day and age. Please put me into cryosleep at your earliest convenience. Tony is exhausting and I need another long nap. Sincerely, Steve Rogers
you’d never seen fury laugh so fucking hard
cap had to change his password
but he did get a kick out of it
“hey, y/n, can you remind me to tell bucky to ‘fuck off’ whenever he comes back?” -sam
“this seems like something you would remember yourself but okay?”
“yeah, well i try to ignore him when he’s nearby. thanks.”
sometimes people forget that you’re not omnipotent, you just have a really good memory
reading up on as many SHIELD files you can get your hands onto for future missions
also bc sometimes clint and nat forget that they added very minor details into their reports and clint gets worked up when you somehow know about some miniscule fact from a mission 5-15 years ago
“how the fuck does y/n know about budapest?”
sometimes you wake up at night to find tony in the kitchen wearing nothing but underwear and you just regret getting out of bed
“i would say ‘forget this ever happened,’ but i know you wont so just keep moving”
unfortunately you remember all the “party nights” too
bad for you but also good for you
you remember all the stupid things you did while drunk, but you also hold all the cards since your teammates dont 😌 only steve and you know the truth and that’s enough
the team also likes talking to you !! abt anything !! bc wherever they leave off, they can immediately pick back up and you won’t forget a thing
tony said JARVIS is better than u
wanda!!! you’re collectively trying to figure out how to get rid of certain memories with her bc....no
the team encourages her to get rid of their most embarrassing moments from your head
“if you happen to find the time where y/n saw me slip down the stairs and, well, see my butt hit every step...could you just get rid of that please?” -bruce
“yeah, they’ve heard me sing before, we can’t have that existing in their mind” -natasha
“wait, no! please don’t get rid of those ones, they’re my favorite!” -you
“y/n’s mind, y/n’s rules” -wanda
stupid fucking quotes buzzing around your head all the time and every once in a while you mumble one to yourself and an avenger LOSES IT (esp if it’s their words)
“on va voir, motherfucker”
*steve’s jaw drops*
sometimes you randomly laugh at a vivid memory that comes up and everyone tries to guess which one
“uhhh, that time clint crushed a smoothie on his head?”
“when peter cried during patrol because he had finals the next day?”
“was it when tony choked on a blueberry?”
“natasha doing tiktok dances flawlessy?”
“what about thor kissing mjölnir?”
“oh, was it that time we caught steve listening to katy perry with tears in his eyes?”
good times, really good times
there were other...bad memories you wish you could have forgotten
casualties of battle.....failure......your own embarrassment
but at least you were a valuable member of the avengers !

I hope the Danvers sisters are reunited in Chapter 3 of the Missing for A Decade fic. I just finished the 2nd chapter and it was good. I also hope that her sisters give her kidnapper hell.
A/N: Nope, they are not reunited yet. But maybe in the fourth Chapter! ;) --- By the time Maggie pulled up to the street, she saw the two patrol cars and the police tape that kept the onlookers and news people distanced from the house. Inwardly she cursed incessantly; how did they know more quickly than she did? Who or what had told them that they had found the girl who had been missing for several years? She was beside herself with her anger, but quickly evaporated through the lump in her throat and the pounding of her racing heart.
The brown-haired detective got out of her car with shaky legs and, with the request for space, squeezed through the crowd that turned into a thick wall around the house.
She knew she had to hide you as best she could from everyone else so that the press wouldn't have anything to popularize. She wanted to keep it a secret, especially since she didn't know what condition you were in and didn't want Kara and Alex to find out through the screen that you were still alive.
She wanted to tell them herself, she owed them that.
She waved her badge to the two police officers and the young brown-haired rookie pulled the tape up so she crawled underneath and thanked him.
The door was wide open when she came to a standstill in front of it to take another breath. All the years in which you disappeared where pure hell for her too, she lost almost everything.
She lost you and her relationship with Alex broke, through the psychological and physical strain of finding you, she almost broke under the pressure and got fired if she wouldn't have pulled herself together. She had lost herself in alcohol after blaming herself for not finding a single hot trail in the first 48 hours that has since been colder than Antarctica, but she caught herself every moment she thought of you and about that you could never forgive her if she got drunk instead of looking for you.
She pushed her thoughts away and took a step over the threshold. The stench of unventilated space and fermented wood stung her nostrils, but she didn't care, she finally just wanted to be able to hold you in her arms again.
She walked down the long hallway which had old, stale wallpaper that was already hanging down and looked scratched off. On the way, following the voices, she also passed the kitchen and a storage room that contained a mattress and a thin wool blanket.
Images settled in her head and the thought of you lying there, trapped in a less than three square meter room and slowly losing hope that you would ever come out alive again gnawed at her inside and made her eyes water.
Finally she arrived in the living room and stopped at the sight.
A starved body stood with the back to her in the middle of the room, holding a little girl. The clothes were dirty and full of holes, parts of the arms and legs that she could see were covered with bruises, scratches and old scars. Your hair was disheveled like a bird's nest and your skin was paler than she remembered it.
"Y/N.." Maggie whispered, hardly believing that she would ever see you again.
Turned around, you stared at her. While your brain told you to run to her immediately and don't let her go again, your body literally defended itself against it like a protective mechanism, that you actually no longer needed. "Maggie."
Your trembling and slightly scratched voice made her stomach upset and sick. 10 years in which she slowly forgot how you sounded and now she believed that she was completely in a dream because she not only heard your voice again, but you stood in front of her.
As if you had grown into the ground, you didn't move an inch. You couldn't, your body simply didn't respond to anything anymore.
Maggie too, was in a rigidity from which she could only find her way out with great difficulty. She ran up to you and hugged you as tightly as she could without hurting the little brown-haired girl in your arms. "It's you. It's really you!"
Tears formed in your eyes and you digged your fingernails tighter into her sweater with your free hand while you buried your face into her chest.
An insane burden fell from her and she too could no longer keep her emotions under control. You both stood there in the middle of the room and took in this moment to the fullest, as if you could both beathe again and drop a load off your shoulders.
Paramedics and forensics, who were notified before they even entered, stood around you both and applauded. It was not often that a missing person, especially a teenager, could be found after years, at least alive.
"Mommy, who is that?" the little one interrupted this moment and Maggie let you go involuntarily.
Her hand found it's place on one of your shoulder blades, the brunettes confused look always alternating between you and the little girl in your arms while she slowly understood and again tears welled up in her eyes. "Mommy?"
You nodded in confirmation.
"This is my daughter, Grace." you smiled at her before you lowered your head to the little one and smiled at her too. "Grace, this is Maggie. She is the wife of one of your aunts."
"One of the good guys you told about?" she asked while she played with a strand of your hair and stared at Maggie with big, hazelnut brown eyes.
"More than that, my darling." you sobbed. "Family."
"Wow!"
The little childs fearful look turned into shining eyes and a big grin as it conjured one on Maggies lips as well. She still couldn't believe what was going on in front of her. You had a daughter that no one knew about. You had no one to help you raise her. Kara and Alex had no idea about their niece, hell, they didn't even know that you were still alive.
Her thoughts drove her from grief to total anger at the bastard who did this to you and tore you out of your environment and your life. Inwardly she vowed to bring him to the grave by hand.
"Detective Sawyer?" she was torn from her thoughts. "We will bring them both through the back door into the ambulance and then to the NC hospital where they will be checked and treated."
"I come with you. I won't let them out of my sight again." she spoke coldly and shortly before the paramedic nodded and went on with a few other police officers to the back.
She felt a pull on her sides and watched the little girl clasping her tiny little hands at her black leather jacket. She smiled again when she noticed that Grace spread her arms and wanted to being held by her. "C'mere little Y/N."
Despite the fact that she probably had to watch bad things and was also trapped, she was still trusting. Probably because you told her too much good about the world, your family and about strong fighters that the bad couldn't be outweigh.
The brunette took your daughter tightly in her arms and clasped her before you leaned in her side. She out a protective arm around you and accompanied you to the ambulance with the help of a paramedic.
You were a fighter.

Drabble Prompt: Okay so yeah. There’s a superhero team up of at least Supergirl, Aqualad and technically Superman but he’s not really paying that much attention to Kara and Garth. But then during a calmer moment, Clark checks back on those two and sees them being sibs.
Clark didn't enjoy working with most heroes, and he especially didn't like working with Kara's friends (they always gave him these... looks. Like he was the one in the wrong when Kara was destroying buildings on live TV), but one perk was that heroes never tended to ask questions, in or out of mask. Clark can walk up to Kara and the small child that was clearly Aqualad in the fight against a giant squid half an hour earlier and not be afraid of being outed.
Kara looked up, scoffed, and halfheartedly swatted the kid's shoulder. "Garth, this is Clark. My cousin."
Clark gave the kid a smile. "Car got blown away in the fight," he lied. "Got room for one more at the bus stop?"
(Bus stops are so dang lame. He'd rather fly, honestly. But if Kara of all people was waiting for a bus, he could only assume she had hit a rough patch, and it was his duty as her little cousin to rub that in.)
Garth blinked at him. "Don't I know you from somewhere?"
"Uh," said Clark, intelligently, feeling his well-planned soliloquy flying out the metaphorical window.
"He writes nerd stories for the nerd paper," Kara said.
"That's it!" Garth cried, snapping his fingers. "Are you here to write a story about the squid?"
Clark looked at Garth, his eyes glowing with earnest excitement, then Kara. He raised an eyebrow. Is he really this clueless? Kara raised hers back. What do you think, smart guy? He clapped him on the shoulder. “Sure am, buddy! It’s not every day Superman gets to destroy an evil space squid. It’s more like a... once a month thing.”
“He usually saves the seafood for Supergirl,” Kara said, quite pointedly.
“Oh, come now, cuz,” Clark replied, enunciating for irritation, “it’s not Superman’s fault they always seem to land in Supergirl’s part of town. She’s the one who made such a big fuss about separating Metropolis for patrols, isn’t she?”
“Maybe if Superman didn’t hog all the front lines-”
Garth grabbed her elbow and Kara stopped, but only because he was pointing. “The bus is here!”
She squinted at the large object as if it deeply offended her and tossed a disgusted look at him over her shoulder. “Either join us or don’t, Clark. I’m not covering your fare.” Garth went to pat his pockets but she stopped him, slightly shaking her head. The boy looked relieved.
Clark frowned. Something unfamiliar gurgled up inside him as he watched the blonde help Garth up the step into the bus and paid his fee for him.
It was stupid of him to feel jealous. Immature. But Kara always managed to turn him back into that snotty brat he used to be. She was the iceberg of his childhood- never changing, stuck in the age he’d last seen her in thanks to that glitch in space stasis.
But here this kid was, confidently crawling up on the seat next to Kara. Shoving his phone in her face. Showing her a video of some weird toy robots. And here Kara was- not only allowing it, but encouraging it, nodding along and bumping their shoulders together. Eventually the kid hunkered down and fell asleep, snoring into her shoulder, and Kara still showed none of her usual irritation, throwing an arm around his back.
The same way she’d treated him, back in the day.
Maybe he’d just assumed that those days on Krypton- before the resentment, and the superheroing, and the constant noise of Metropolis threatened to overwhelm Kara’s ears- had been special to both of them.
It dawned on him with the same, slow creeping sensation one got sinking into a bathtub. He leaned over Garth’s head and murmured in her ear. “Are you taking the bus for him?”
Kara rolled her eyes, then shrugged. “He’s get motion sick when we fly.”
As if this was common sense.
As if Kara had ever listened to or abided by common sense.
“Bit clingy, isn’t he?” Clark said, with some distaste.
“He’s got one of those velcro-grip control moms,” she explained. “Hanging with me is a lot less pressure.”
“Ah, yes.” Clark rubbed the back of his head, more lost than ever before. “I hear that’s a problem that the youth are facing. Moms. Being velcro.”
Kara didn’t seem too put off by his attempt at humor. “Wouldn’t know.”
“Kara-”
“Don’t give that lecture, Clark. The Danvers’ and I cohabitate just fine, but I’m not like you. The Kents made your their son before you were old enough to get a pimple.”
“Jeez, relax. I wasn’t gonna go there,” Clark said, having absolutely intending to originally go there. “It’s just... surprising. Seeing you like this again. It’s been awhile since you were so... thoughtful.”
Kara scrubbed a hand through Garth’s hair. It wasn’t gentle, but it wasn’t hard enough to stir him, either. “Yeah, well,” she answered, staring out the window. “It’s been awhile since someone needed me, I guess.”

Watching Nia straight up nuzzle Brainy in the premiere sent my soul to a very good place, so if you’re still taking prompts and wanted to maybe write a little bit of fluff involving Nia’s favorite form of affection being nuzzles and forehead touches that would be really sweet.
- Yes, of course! Nuzzling and forehead touches are the best! Thank you for the prompt! x
The last few weeks without Kara had been tough, no question about it.
Nia had been feeling the strain both at CatCo and out on the streets as Dreamer. She’d had to take on not just Kara Danver’s workload, but Supergirl’s as well. Tonight was J’onn and M’gann’s turn to take patrol, which was just as well, because when Nia finally got her key to fit through the apartment door lock, she nearly collapsed through to the other side.
It took her about two seconds to pinpoint Brainy fast asleep on the living room couch.
Despite her own exhaustion, Nia couldn't help but smile at the sight.
There were two kinds of sleep Nia often attributed to her boyfriend. The first kind was the one she was most familiar with - where Brainy was resting more out of obligation than necessity, running numerous background tasks whilst laid at Nia’s side. He'd also made mention that it gave his body a break from the strenuous activities of daily life.
The second kind was rarer - the bone-dead, exhausted kind of sleep reserved for when he’d run himself totally ragged. On occasions like that, Brainy would often deviate from his normal sleep position, his posture relaxing into the bed enough that he might curl on his side, allowing Nia to snuggle up against him or vice versa. Nia liked those times very much, especially with how infrequent they could so often be.
Recently, though, with all the work they’d both been putting into covering for Kara, searching for her signature in the Phantom Zone, they’d hardly had time for sleep at all.
In fact, the last time Nia had seen Brainy asleep like that was weeks ago - the night he’d been rescued from Leviathan’s ship.
Well, at least, it had been, until just now.
She knew that Brainy had been pushing himself more than he cared to admit. Not to say that Nia could say she’d been doing any better. She knew for a fact that Alex and Lena had been working through most nights as well. No one wanted to give up hope, and no one wanted to see what kind of nightmares their minds had in store for them should they try to close their eyes. She didn’t have to be a Dreamer to know that, but hey, it helped.
Every second Brainy wasn’t partnering with Nia for patrol, he was holed up at the Tower, running every calculation under the sun to figure out a way to get Kara back. A human might’ve fallen asleep at their desk, giving themselves at least a few moments of peace, but Brainy wasn’t wired like that. He could keep himself going for days, even weeks if he needed to.
But, that didn’t mean it wasn’t without consequence.
Alex had called Nia earlier that afternoon to let her know that she’d sent Brainy home. After god knows how long without any sleep to his name, his body had finally decided to shut down without his consent. He hadn’t exactly passed out, Alex had said, but when he’d nearly collapsed just trying to stand from his desk, she’d ordered him to go get some rest with zero room for argument.
Maybe she wasn’t technically his superior anymore, but Brainy was far too intelligent not to listen to a worried Alex Danvers.
Still, Nia understood the reason why Brainy was so unwilling to stop working, and she was half expecting to meet him at meltdown mode by the time she got home from work. Although he’d made some progress with Lena, he was still struggling with his emotions, battling between an empty hole in his chest and a slew of untameable negativity threatening to devour him whole. Over the last few weeks, the only thing he’d truly been able to fall back on was his own intellect, fully restored since he’d re-connected to the Big Brain. Not being able to work, to use that intellect towards something, must have felt like losing the last tether he had left.
Which was why Nia was so relieved to see that Brainy had managed to find some semblance of peace. His hands were clasped in a loose triangular formation across his chest, his breath easing out through half parted lips. He’d propped his head up practically with a throw pillow, almost as though he’d set himself up with the intention of continuing his background calculations. But, if the shadows beneath his eyes was any indication, that ship had sailed a long time ago.
He had one leg arched up on the sofa, his linked fingers rising and falling with every gentle heave of his chest.
He looked so peaceful when he slept, so unburdened by everything that had been holding him down. Nia wondered what he might be dreaming about – if he was dreaming anything at all.
She kicked off her shoes, slinging her bag onto the countertop before making her way over to the living room. She stopped short at the sofa’s arm, stood directly over him, Brainy’s face tipped up towards her.
Nia bit her lip, running her finger’s idly along the smooth skin where Brainy’s inhibitors used to be. When Brainy huffed out a soft sigh at the contact, relaxing further into his pillow, she grinned, bending over to press her forehead against his. His face was comfortably warm; Nia relished in the feel of him, closing her eyes.
When she finally lifted her head, she found a pair of sleep-dazed brown eyes watching her curiously.
“Hey, sleepy head,” she murmured, tucking a wayward strand of blond hair behind Brainy’s ear. She glanced to the small space at Brainy’s side, smirking mischievously. “Move over?”
Wordlessly, Brainy obliged, shuffling enough that Nia had the room to sidle into the spot next to him, snuggling up against his shoulder before finding her favourite spot at the crook of his neck. She kissed his throat playfully, grinning when Brainy wrapped his arm around her in response, holding her close.
“What time is it?” Brainy asked around a yawn, his voice thick from disuse.
“Wow, you really are tired, huh?” Nia asked, resting her chin against Brainy’s shoulder. She smiled sympathetically. “Alex told me about what happened.”
Brainy bristled immediately. “Regardless of what she told you, I did not pass out.”
“Maybe not,” Nia reasoned. “But, you exhausted yourself. Everyone needs to take a break, Brainy, it’s nothing to be ashamed about.”
The tension Brainy suddenly carried in his jaw told her he wasn’t going to believe her that easily.
Nia sighed, rolling her eyes. “Besides,” she continued, tucking her hand beneath the hem of Brainy’s shirt. “I need a break, too, and you’re my favourite spot.” She felt along his abdomen, tracing her fingers around the warm protrusion of his life projector. When the tightness in Brainy’s jaw released all at once and he breathed out, closing his eyes, Nia smiled, pressing her face back into the comfort of his throat, snuggling close. She shrugged, closing her eyes. “Guess you’re stuck with me.”
She felt Brainy’s nose brush gently against her hair, a puff of warm breath dancing across her scalp. “I would want to be nowhere else,” he murmured.

Metallo!Lena AU Pt 18
Wresting back control of LuthorCorp is easier than Lena expects. She's forgotten that she was voted in once, that the shareholders had actively wanted her in the lead, wanted her to pull them back from the brink. It doesn't hurt her case that the company floundered even further after her presumed death. Who better to bring it back to life, the board surmised, than the ressurrected Luthor herself?
Towards that end, Lena hires an army of people to bring her back to life. She recruits a publicity firm to handle the media, she hires a stylist team to shop an entire wardrobe for, and an accounting agency to figure exactly how much money she has to her name.
Lena allows her army free reign to put her life back in order, and in the meantime she devotes her time to resuming her battle for the good opinion of National City. As a vigilante, being Supergirl's friend helps a great deal, but for Lena herself, she has work to do.
Through a series of follow up articles, Lena shares herself with Kara, and by extension CatCo's readership. At LuthorCorp, she ingrains herself in the daily workings of the company. She's already laid much of the groundwork before the crash, but she's still full of nerves as she re-introduces herself to each and every department.
She's keenly aware that a handshake from her could now snap bones, so one corner of her mind is always conscious of her strength, always careful. Part of her now recognizes why Kara spent so much time at the DEO, where everyone knows her strength and how deadly she could be-- they know to keep their distance.
At L-Corp, everyone presses close, eager for smiles and soft words of welcome backs. Lena remains on the razor's edge of awareness, leaving her drained by the time she walks back into the apartment she shares with Kara.
"Oh, wow," Kara mutters when Lena returns after her first day. It takes Lena a moment to realize her friend is staring, and a moment longer to remember that Kara had been called away for an early DEO emergency that morning, and that this is the first time they've seen each other all day. Kara's already comfy in pajamas and an NCU sweatshirt, but Lena is still dressed for the office, in an outfit her stylist selected for her.
Kara blinks, her eyes traveling all the way down to Lena's feet, arched in killer heels. Only then does she shake herself out of it.
"Oh, wow," she repeats, this time less stunned and more concerned. "You must be exhausted."
Lena huffs, rolling her eyes. "You have no idea."
She's been sleeping on the sofa's daybed at night, but at the moment its folded up into the couch. Lena clicks her way over and slumps into the increasingly familiar cushions, chucking off her shoes haphazardly.
Kara scurries over and hands her a bowl of pasta. Lena accepts it with a grateful smile and waits for Kara to join her on the couch with her own bowl before she tucks in. Its simple, just a snack of buttered noodles to pick them up, but Lena devours it in record time.
"How's CatCo?"
Kara grimaces. "Awful. Snapper hates me. Which is actually normal for him, but... some of the others have joined in this time. A little less thuggishly, but still."
Lena frowns. "Wait 'til christmas. They'll be thanking you for their holiday bonus."
"I don't want them to like me because I helped get them money," Kara counters. "I want them to like me because I'm nice. Or good at my job."
Lena smiles. "I give them another week before they're eating out of your hand." When Kara looks at her, she shrugs knowingly. "Isn't that about how long it took you to break through to me?"
Kara scoffs, thumping her with a pillow. "You're different."
"Am I?"
"Well, yeah. You're.... you."
"That explains everything, thank you."
---
Lena doesn't patrol with Supergirl anymore-- the district attorney's office serves a cease and desist the morning after her first interview with Kara airs, xiting that having such a high profile figure running amok on the streets would only incite chaos, not prevent it. But the DA's reach doesn't extend to the DEO, and so when Supergirl reaches out for help investigating the strange rash of young adults deliberately in harm's way in the hopes of being saved by the hero, Lena readily agrees.
With Kara in her guise as a reporter, they track the group to a meeting space, and discover that it's actually a religious group-- devoted to Supergirl.
"Miss Luthor!"
Lena's recognized immediately. Kara bristles at the exclamation, but Lena squeezes her wrist in reassurance. She can handle a room full of disillusioned young adults, but if anyone recognized Kara, they were done.
A slender man with a wet-eyed look approaches them. "It is an honor to have you here, Miss Luthor. Any friend of Supergirl's is a friend of ours. How did you learn of our group?"
Lena flashes one of the flyers they'd used to find the dingy little room. "We received one of these. What exactly is this?"
"You've arrived just in time to find out," the man says with a simpering sort of smile. "Please, find a seat, and make yourselves comfortable."
Sharing a look, Lena and Kara make their way to the rows of chairs, settling in towards the back. The meeting opens with a girl who shares her story of rescue-- one entirely genuine, not fabricated like the recent arsons and trespasses.
When a young man follows, then an older woman, Kara realizes she's saved all of these people. She doesn't feel honored-- she feels sick. But Lena has her eye on the leader, who introduces himself as Thomas Coville. There's something about him that rubs her the wrong way, and the moment they leave she says as much to Kara.
"I get that being saved from certain death could turn someone's life around," she hisses in a low voice. "But starting a religion? No one does that unless they want power, and when someone wants power, that makes them dangerous."
She resolves to get close to him, and to everyone's surprise, it's shockingly easy to do so. All it takes is modifying her cover story so that it's Supergirl who pulled her from the fiery helicopter crash and whisked her away to anonymity-- and she's in. It takes almost a month before Coville hints that he's got something big planned.
When he leads Lena and the rest of his congregation to the basement of the National City sports stadium, Lena puts a finger to her ear.
"Now."
Supergirl and the DEO swarm the basement. They begin arresting people, and shuffling them all out. The last to go is Coville, but the man is anything but perturbed.
"By Rao's will," he says, a sentiment echoed by his followers. None of them resist. Only then does Lena catch sight of the betahedron in one corner of the basement.
"Is that...?"
It powers up, its light pulsing more quickly. Supergirl cries out, dropping to her knees. Lena rushes to her side, only to jerk back when she sees her friend's skin threaded green kryptonite. Pressing the button on her watch, her vigilante suit forms around her-- she'd lined it with lead in case her kryptonite ever failed. But Kara continues to groan, and Lena realizes she isn't the culprit this time.
"The betahedron!" she calls. It's starting to pulse faster now, which can only mean one thing. "It's gonna blow-- get everyone out, now!"
"There's a packed house upstairs," Alex says over comms. "There's no way to evacuate in time. You'll have to find a way to disarm it."
"It's a fucking alien probe, Alex!" There might not BE a way to disarm it. Behind her, Lena can hear Kara struggling for breath. She can't do anything to disarm it, but she can't do nothing, either. A dozen ideas fire through her brain, but all of them are discarded as usless.
All but one.
With only a moment's hesitation, Lena approaches the betahedron and punches a hole through its plating, peeling the outer layer back until she can see the pulsing green crystal within.
Removing her gauntlet, Lena pages her comms. "Director Danvers!"
"You got something, Luthor?"
Lena takes a deep breath. "Maybe. If it works, I'm going to be radioactive as hell." She looks over her shoulder, meeting Kara's pained gaze.
"No matter what happens, don't let Supergirl touch my fucking body."
Kara's eyes grow wide with realization. "Lena, NO!"
Lena thrusts her arm into the betahedron and grips the kryptonite with all her strength. She screams as the radioactive energy crackles up her arm towards her chest, seeking it's grounding point in the crystal embedded there. The manufactured kryptonite absorbs the energy, buffering and containing it for long, perilous moments before the first cracks begin to form.
Lena hopes it'll last long enough to diffuse the kryptonite energy of the bomb and neutralize its explosive power.
As her senses go dark, all she can do is hold on with all her might, and not let go.

Supergirl Request: B!D Gets shot.
Lena had offered you a job as her  assistant upon college graduation. You were a hard worker and wanted a well paying job. You knew Lena before getting the job from interacting with her at game nights or karaoke. You always found yourself drawn to her she was powerful and strong willed. But you also saw a softer, kinder side.
Alex insisted that you take a black armored DEO vehicle to work everyday. As your older sister she was extremely protective, she would not hear an argument against it. You even tried to convince Kara that it was extreme, but there was no getting through to her either. But today all the safety precautions didn’t seem to work today. It was supposed to be a slow at L Corp. One of answering emails, and phone calls, but someone managed to break in getting past Lena’s security.
You would later learn that Morgan Edge had hired a couple of Hitmen for Lena’s monthly assassinations attempt. Unfortunately you ended up getting caught in the crossfires. Lena had told you to run get somewhere safe and save yourself, but you of course refused to leave her.
The pain didn't hit you at first the need to get yourself and Lena to safety came first. “Y/N, you just got shot” Lena placed her hands gently on your shoulders as you realized you were slowly falling to the ground. That’s when you felt the worst pain in your lower stomach. You could also feel the shirt clinging to you because of the blood.
“Stay with me,” Lena said. Her voice was sounding farther and farther away. “Supergirl!” she called out to your sister who had arrived a touch to late.
.
Beeping. that’s the first thing you heard. There was a dull ache in your stomach.
“Y/N,” you heard Alex say quietly you opened your eyes to see that you were in the DEO med bay Alex was sitting in the chair next to you holding your hand looking worse for wear. You looked to the other side and noticed your blonde sister was sitting in the chair on your other side half of her body slumped over on your bed she was still asleep and hadn't even taken off her super suit. “What happened Alex, why am I in the DEO?” You asked slightly panicked.
“Shh, you’re okay” she said gently stroking your hair. “You got shot with a bullet today while you were at work.”
The talking seemed to wake Kara up slowly. She looked confused than relieved when her eyes landed on you, “Little one, thank Rao you’re okay.”
You nodded, “can I have some water” you rasped. Your blonde sister grabbed the cup that was next to you and helped you take a sip before putting it back down. Kara felt extremely guilty for what happened to you. She hadn’t gotten to you quickly enough. Of course Supergirl had flown to L Corp as soon as she got the alert, but the hitman had been expecting Supergirl and one managed to hold her off until it was too late. What kind of Superhero cant protect her own baby sister?
“How are you feeling, sweetheart? Are you in any pain?” Asked Alex.
“A little, but its manageable,” you said reassuringly. But Alex didn't even want you to have the slightest discomfort and slightly increased your pain meds. The more you looked at Alex the more you started to realize how tired she looked she had purple circles under her eyes and you realize she must not have hardly slept if at all.
“How long have I been unconscious?”
“About 24 hours,” Alex said looking at her watch. Your oldest sister also felt incredibly guilty. She was supposed to protect you and keep you safe. The DEO should’ve gotten there faster, and she never should’ve let you work at L Corp.
Your sisters managed to fill you in a little more on what happened, “I’m so sorry  Little one,” said Kara “this is my fault I should’ve gotten to you and Lena sooner.”
You shook you head, “No Kara this isn’t your fault. I know you were held up even Supergirl cant be in two places at once.”
“She’s right Kara its not your fault it’s mine,” said Alex. “I should’ve gotten there sooner, and I never should’ve agreed to let you work at LCorp.”
“Oh my God you two are being ridiculous.” you said causing them to both look at you surprised. “Alex you got there as quickly as you could, I’m an adult and make my own decisions about where I work,” you said giving her a pointed look. “Besides if I wasn’t there Lena would’ve been shot, and I know you wouldn’t want that either.”
“Speaking of Lena, is she okay?” You asked worried.
“She’s fine, little one we sent her home to get some rest,” answered Kara.
Alex nodded, “Lena is really worried about you kiddo, didn't want to leave.”
You felt touched that Lena cared so much about you. You yawned starting to feel tired. “Get some rest sweetheart, you need it,” said Kara leaning down to kiss your forehead followed by Alex doing the same.
.
You woke up a couple of hours later to find that your sisters had stepped out, and you were in the presence of none other than Lena Luthor. She was sitting on her laptop typing away and hadn’t yet noticed your presence until she suddenly looked up.
“Y/N, darling you’re awake. How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?” Asked Lena worried as she walked over to you.
“No, I’m not in pain. Where are my sisters?” You asked looking around.
“They went home to take a shower and eat something,” she said gently rubbing your arm. You nodded “they’ll be back soon.”
You took a deep breath, “Lena I’m really sorry about what happened at L Corp.”
Lena immediately shook her head, “What? Y/N, none of what happened is your fault. If anything its mine. You’re like a sister to me and I failed to keep you safe. ”
You wanted to reply to her, but after that admission you didn't quite know what to say. “I completely understand if you dont want to work at L Corp anymore. I’ll even help you find a new job,” said Lena.
“But Lena I don’t want another job. I love working at L Corp so much. Yeah sure I got hurt, but I’m gonna be okay, and what happened to me isn’t your fault its Morgan Edges’.”
“What about your sisters?”
“What about them? you answered. It’s my decision. If Alex is upset about it I’ll deal with her,” you said knowing Lena would be worried about Alex getting mad at her.
“Okay sweetheart, I want you to take some time off to get better, and I’m going to increase the security. You will never get hurt under my watch again.”
You nodded, “Lena?” You asked causing the other women to look back at you. “I also love you like a sister, I’m glad you’re a part of our family.”
Lena had to take a deep breath just to keep herself from bursting into tears she leant down and gave you a gentle hug careful not to hurt you, “that means so much sweetheart, thank you for saying that I love you too.”
.
You winced as Alex inspected and cleaned your bullet wound. Today was the fourth day of being in the DEO after you had been shot. Your sisters and Lena all took turns being by your side. On the second day the assassins' were found and arrested along with Morgan Edge but not before getting roughed up by Agent Danvers.
When you woke up you had been feeling some pain where the bullet hit you. When Alex went to inspect it she realized your wound had a mild infection.
“How bad is it, is she going to be okay?” Kara asked as she held your hand.
“Can I still go home today?” you asked tired of being stuck in the DEO with nothing to do except watch Netflix.
“It’s just a minor infection,” said Alex. “You’ll need to take some antibiotics, but once I clean it there’s no need to keep you here any longer.”
“I’m going to be working from home for a while to look after you, little one,” said Kara.
“I still have to go into work, but I’m going to stay the night at yours and Kara’s apartment for the week. And Lena’s gonna stay with you while we go on patrol,” added Alex.
You smiled, you had the best family ever.
“Sweetheart, we know your an adult and can make your own decisions,” said Kara looking at Alex pointedly. “And what happened wasn't in any way your fault.”
“We just want you to remember that your not invincible,” said Alex sitting on your bed after she finished cleaning your wound and removed her gloves. “That bullet could’ve killed you,  just promise us you wont jump in front of a gun ever again.”
“I Promise,” you knew that if you had the chance to potentially save your sisters, Lena, or any other member of your family from dying you would no matter the cost, but you weren't up for having that conversation right now.
“Can you guys also promise me something? That you’ll get some sleep, and eat something substantial. You both look exhausted the last thing we need is for one of you to collapse. And get Lena to do the same,” your sisters smile at this. You’re always so concerned about others even while you’re lying in a hospital bed with a hole in your stomach.
“Alright we promise Sweet girl,” said Kara kissing your forehead.
“Can we have pizza tonight?” You asked causing both your sisters to laugh for the first time in days.
Later that night when Lena came to the apartment she found you and your sisters fast asleep on the couch.

6 months with Maya.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader
Word count: 1650.
“My God, would you calm down?” Jamie asks, holding your hand, while you pull her around the mall like she weighs nothing. “So, you guys have been together for 6 months-”
“Yes! Exactly! 6 months!” You interrupt her, stopping in front of a store. She bumps into you, mumbling a bad word.
“It’s just 6 months!” Jamie is very much annoyed, and you turn to look at her.
“I’m sorry, have you dated someone for 6 months already?” You ask, making her huff upset. “Exactly, neither did I. So I have to buy something incredible for her.”
“Don’t you think you’re overreacting a little bit?” You furrow your brows thinking about her suggestion, but you just shrug it off.
“No. It has to be perfect, because she is perfect!” You look at the necklace in the showcase. You point at it, and Jamie’s eyes grow huge.
“Are you insane? That’s an actual diamond! It’s super expensive!”
“I have some money saved from my allowances.”
“You never once bought me something so nice.” Jamie complains, and you smile at her. “Don’t bitch grin at me, I’m serious. I’ve known you for sixteen years. And I can’t believe you’re considering buying her a diamond necklace.”
“Fine. Ok.” You resume walking. “I just need it to be perfect.”
“She won’t care if you buy her fake or real diamonds. She will care if you bought something thinking about her.” Jamie pokes your arm, pointing at the other side of the mall. “I’m sure we can find something there.”
You go into the store she pointed, and scan things, before turning to her.
“I don’t know, Jamie. There’s nothing perfect enough for her.” Jamie rolls her eyes to your answer.
“Just walk around. Look at things you think she would like. Stop looking at the price tag, expensive doesn’t mean it’s good.” You shrug, but comply. You go to one side and Jamie goes to the other. It doesn’t take long until you meet in the middle.
“Nothing here is good enough for her.”
“Well, ok, you know what? I give up. If you can’t buy anything, just make it yourself!” Jamie storms out of the store and you furrow your brows to the suggestion. Make it yourself. That idea is not half bad. If you want perfection, then you should make it yourself.
“You’re right.” You run after her. “Let’s go, I have to go to L Corp.”
“Oh. Yeah. Of course I’m right.” Jamie bitch-grins at you and you roll your eyes, making your way outside the mall, and into an alley, so you can pick her up and drop her off in her backyard, before flying to L Corp.
You work all afternoon, and in the night, Lena almost has to drag you out of the lab to take you home. She understands you’re freaking out over this, but not enough to let you skip sleep to work on a gift for your girlfriend.
But matter not, because you have made afternoon date plans with her, so in the morning you get to go back to L Corp and keep working on it to make it perfect, like it has too.
You hold the bracelet in front of your face, and see your own reflection in it. It’s perfect. Or, almost. You use a magnifier to engrave something. Something she will never see, so she can’t ever ask you about it, but you hope one day you can show it to her. You smile at the little word written there. ‘:ZHAO’, the kryptonian word for romantic love. Now it’s perfect.
You have planned a cute picnic in the park, so you both can sit and watch the sunset together. You get there before the time, and organize everything. The food, and flowers, and the perfect spot with almost no one around.
Maya looks beautiful, like always. But the sunlight in her hazel eyes is something you’ll never get tired of seeing.
“You look… Wow!” You say, making her chuckle, before coming closer and giving you a sweet kiss.
“You always look wow yourself.” She says when you part your lips, and you blush at the compliment. “And this is…” She shows around with her hands, and your heart is almost beating out of your chest. “Perfect.”
You breathe out feeling relieved. That was all you needed to hear.
You two sit and eat the food you so carefully picked it up for this. She doesn’t have to know that the chocolate crêpes she is having are actually from France and that you used all your French and then some to purchase them. You eat, talk, laugh, and exchange sweet kisses -both because of the chocolate and the sweetness of the moment- and it’s so good you wish time could stop for both of you.
“Hey!” Supergirl lands in front of you and Maya, and you see that Maya is shocked by her presence. “This picnic was a good idea!”
“Oh my God! Babe, is Supergirl!” She says enthusiastically, smacking your arms lightly.
“Yes!” You look at Kara, frowning discreetly. “Is Supergirl!” Kara still looks confused. “The girl of steel herself, right in front of us!”
“My girlfriend is like one of your biggest fans!” Maya points at you, and you shake your head agreeing.
“Oh!” Kara says when she realizes her mistake. There she is, in her superhero clothes talking to you like you two know each other. “Oh! Um, thank you!”
“Are we sitting somewhere forbidden in the park?” Maya asks, looking at you both and you’re petrified she might see the resemblance. Kara shakes her head in denial.
“No, no! I-Well, I was patrolling and I happened to look down, and you two were sitting here and this looks like a sweet moment, so-” My dear Rao, stop talking momma. “I just wanted to congratulate you both.”
“For what?” It’s not like there is a big billboard behind you two saying ‘we’re celebrating 6 months of dating’, so she is not supposed to be congratulating you.
“Whatever this is for.” She smiles, embarrassed, and you furrow your brows at her like telling her to go away. She seems to get the hint this time. “Well, I have to go.” Supergirl is almost flying away, when she looks back at you two. “Thanks for being a fan!” Then she flies off.
“Well, that was-” You can’t even finish your sentence. What can you say?
“Weird.” Maya laughs, and you look at her dimples and you laugh too. Heart almost beating out of your chest. “Poor thing, must feel lonely patrolling the city. Should we have offered her our chocolate covered strawberries?”
“No?” What has Kara put you through? Maya shrugs it off, biting one strawberry.
“Thought you would be happier to meet her.” She says and you agree with your head.
“We’ve met. Before. Once or-” You shrug. “My mom works with her sometimes. Besides, I’m not really the fangirl type.”
“Well, I met Superkid once and if she had stopped by, I would totally have invited her to sit with us anyways.”
“Should I be worried?” Is it weird that you’re feeling jealous of yourself? Does it even make sense for you to be scared Maya is going to leave you for… yourself?
“Of course not.” Maya reaches for your mouth, and kisses you softly. “Superkid might be strong and hot, but you are sweet and beautiful.”
“Well, I can be strong.” You stand up, and pick her up in a bridal style. Maya lets out a squeak of amazement, holding your neck tightly.
“Oh, wow. Why didn’t you tell me I was dating a superhero?” She asks and you blush. Maya kisses you again, smiling on your lips. “Ok, you have proven your point. You’re better than Superkid. You can put me down now.”
You carefully put her down, feeling excited she said you’re better than yourself. Wow, it sounds dumb when you put it like that.
“Well, you are dating a superhero. As you can see, I’m strong enough, and as for protection-” You say, picking up a box on your backpack. “I made this for you.”
“Oh.” Maya picks up the box from your hands, and unwraps it carefully. She opens the box with a smile on her face, and looks at the bracelet inside. “You made this?”
“I have.” You smile at her and she rushes to wrap it around her wrist. “And you see this little stone there? Press it twice and put your arm in front of your body.”
“Wha-?” She does what you said and sees a force field appearing in front of her. “What’s this?”
“Force field, in case you’re ever in danger and Superkid is not there to save you, then you can use this and save yourself.” You smile embarrassed by the way she’s looking at you. “I just-I know it was an accident that day you almost got run over by that runaway car, but I was terrified.”
“Babe.” Maya has tears in her eyes, but she is not exactly crying. She’s just looking at you like you’re the brightest star in the sky.
“It holds 10 tons of impact and-” You’re not even finished and she is kissing you passionately. She slowly pulls her head back, but still holds your face between her hands.
“It’s amazing. You’re amazing.” She whispers, close to your face, with a little smile, and you remember you have once told her the same thing. “I love you.”
“I love you.” You kiss her one more time.
How did you get so lucky? It’s the question you’re asking yourself, but when you look at her, you see it written all over her face. Maya is asking the same question to herself; you just know it. And that is what makes this whole thing exactly how you planned. Absolutely perfect.
Notes:
Thanks @milkiewaye for this sweet prompt. They are perfect together.

“I made you some hot chocolate.” B!D to Kara when she gets home from patrol.
just a short one, it’s not the best as i’m also not the best right now (when i say it’s literally 2:30am right now,,,) but i hope its okay!
also for this one and the next christmas one, we’re gonna pretend that the danvers aren’t jewish okay. (at least im pretty sure they are? or is it fanon? i never know 😭)
word count: 195
As Kara flew in, you heard her boots hit the floor. She sighed, rubbing her eyes. Christmas Eve patrol was her least favourite; one, she hated being away from you and Alex on one of her favourite days of the year, and two – finding anyone in trouble on Christmas broke her heart a lot of the time.
Thankfully, tonight there was nothing major, but she was still exhausted. Which, lucky for Kara, was something you had anticipated,
“Hey Kara, get changed into something comfy alright?”
It was barely a second before your sister came out of her room, you handed her a steaming cup of hot cocoa – complete with mini marshmallows.
“I made you some hot chocolate.” You said, she grinned and took a sip.
“Mmm, just what I needed. Thank you little one.” You smiled back and took a sip of your own, moving over to the couch where you had a Christmas movie queued up on the T.V.
You both settled down, snuggling into each other as you watched the movie and waited up for Alex. Relishing in the warmth and glow of the Christmas lights hung across the apartment.

When Querl awakes, it’s almost easy to pretend he’s still at home.
He can let himself believe he’s still there, in the Legion headquarters, about to leave for the twenty-first century. He can believe that he will never truly leave, that he is only trapped in a time loop and each time he will always wake up here, still in danger, never too far from home.
The decor in his new room versus his previous one is different, of course. He knows that the DEO building will, at some point, require being rebuilt, and these are not literally the same walls as those in the Legion headquarters. The bed is not the same either, and neither are the shelves or drawers that have been placed here for his convenience. But they take similar shapes, and when he sees the collection of what he might refer to as “junk” that Ayla has given him over the years...
He wants to mistake everything for what he knows.
But he cannot, and no sooner does he remind himself of that and dress in the official DEO uniform that’s been laid out for him (Mon-El must have told someone his sizes, or perhaps Winn had guessed) that his door opens, and Alex arrives, waiting for him.
“Good morning, A-Ah, Director Danvers.” he says. From what he could figure out (and Kara, once she’d introduced him to ice cream, talking enthusiastically about it between promises of game nights and showings of Star Wars movies) her promotion happened around the same time his did (though he’s still not sure that it definitely applies to his situation) and he suspects they’re both getting used to it.
“Morning, Brainy.” she answers. “Did you...”
She gestures to the bed, and he realizes she might not be sure that he sleeps at all. He and Mon-El and Imra slept in the Legion ship while they stayed here, and nobody needed to show them to a guest room or checked on them.
(Specifically, nobody checked on him for weeks, as he first isolated himself to, as Winn instructed, “learn his history”, and then went on patrol with Imra. But he wasn’t holding it against any of them, especially not now, even though nobody checked on him last night either)
“Sleep well? I suppose.” he tells her, leaving out that he slept in his desk chair instead of the bed, and that’s enough, as she gestures for him to follow her out the door.
“Good. Because we’ve got a long day ahead of us- I guess that’s kind of always, but... it’s both of our first days too. So that’s different.”
“I can adjust.” he reassures her.
“So can I.” she says. “But first... I don’t suppose you still have paperwork that you fill out, in the thirty-first century?”
He must look as though he doesn’t understand what she’s saying, or have remained silent for longer than she anticipated, because she follows it up with “Forgive me. I don’t even know if you have paper.”
“I am aware of what paper is, Director Danvers. We do have some of it stored in our archives.”
Including Winn’s original design, he thinks. But he doesn’t want to further remind her of the friend she just lost, so he keeps that to himself.
“Good, because we need to work on it together.” she says.
Querl wants to question her- does she not believe he can do so himself, answering the questions prompted to him with the correct information?
But a review of DEO files past, on another thought track, reminds him that J’onn was removed from the DEO once his true identity as a Martian was discovered.
And, it stood to reason... he had two things to hide.
“Yes.” he agrees. “I suppose I need a... a secret identity?”
Alex smiles back at him, as she pauses in front of the door to her new office, which still has Hank Henshaw’s name on it- although underneath, someone’s also added J’onn J’onzz.
“Something like that.” she says. “Let’s build your cover story.”
~
It comes together.
And accordingly, they are able to piece together an explanation as to why Querl is only now on the grid, so to speak, why he was brought in to replace Agent Schott. It’s not as easy, he imagines, as J’onn taking over Hank’s life- there is nobody for Querl to impersonate, no human he can pretend to be to make his life easier.
But he does lie- albeit to protect himself, just as Kara does, but lie nonetheless, and list his species as human, his homeworld as Earth.
(The latter of which, from his point of view, is true.)
Once he does, though, Alex nods in understanding, and they fill out the rest of the paperwork- as close to honestly as possible.
(“You’re older than me.” Alex says at one point when he writes down his birthday, converting the calendar he knows to that of Earth, staring at him. “And I thought Winn was the only one.”
“Is this a bad thing?”
She shakes her head, and they keep going.)
~
“Just take these up to Pam in HR- she’s got a name tag, she’s easy to find. She’ll get everything processed for you.” Alex says once they’re done- after Querl has made standard identifications for himself, cards that prove he exists, and belongs to this planet, to this century, at least for now.
“Affirmative.” He says.
Querl turns to leave, but he catches sight of Alex holding up a hand to halt him, and he turns back around.
“What is it?”
“Welcome to the DEO, Agent Dox.” She says- and when she pauses, he recognizes that she’s speaking to him now as a friend, rather than as a boss, or a team leader. “We’re happy to have you.”
“And I am glad to be here.”
To be safe, especially. Even if “safe” is a relative term, in this city when fighting the antagonists that Supergirl does, and for a member of my family.
“Thank you. I will not let you down.”
“That’s what I was counting on.”
