Okay, hear me out, this is how polyamory can win in Only Friends:

Nick and Dan have established that they're interested in each other, and that Nick is also flirting with other people (I don't think this is true, I think he's just aware that his heart isn't totally available yet, and so this protects everyone).

Nick has shifted his view on relationships and casual sex.

Dan is a big puppy of a man, and he and Nick have a lot in common, and clearly have chemistry.

Boston has finally acknowledged he had feelings for Nick, and per the preview, is going to tell Nick that he's interested in a serious relationship.

I have faith in Jojo and Ninew that Boston's redemption won't come through The Magic of Monogamy and Commiting to One Dick Forever.

So! Dan and Nick can have a relationship! They can do computer nerd things, and have cute little dates where Nick explains different sexual positions! Nick and Boston can have a relationship! Boston can have occasional casual sex if he wants, and still be in a loving and committed relationship with Nick! Boston and Dan can take turns telling Nick nice things about himself, and then probably enjoy a very athletic threesome on occasion!

Going to Nicks place of day work without announcement because why would Nicks dad be at the counter if Nick knew that was going to happen. You apologize for kissing your younger friend because they didn’t seem interested in more kisses or anything else after coming back from the restroom.

Your younger friend says it’s fine didn’t mean anything while looking really numb

Do you?

A. Ask them what’s going on? Maybe try to comfort them.

B. Make a manipulative statement to turn the convo to you and then fuck your younger friend on the table where you both work.

C. Tell your younger friend your feelings

And Nick, my darling fucked up little spy, he's giving Damn a real chance, he's doing his best to keep Boston in the past, and he's adjusted his views on casual hook ups, and he's obviously sad about it, but he's not leading Dan on, and he's not pining.

Dan, I am once again apologizing for misjudging you, boo. You are an adorable puppy of a man, and I hope you find an excellent man (or, hell, stick with Nick, monogamy's not for everyone!)

Anyway, Dan's looking for reassurance, and clarification is adorable, and he's being very clear about his interest in Nick, and he's asking every step of the way for what's okay and what Nick means, and it's all very cute.

Later, in the video store, this pattern continues, where Dan asks if Nick is talking with anyone, and asks if he can pursue him, and they establish clearly that Dan isn't the only one Nick is flirting with! And they're both okay with it! (I don't think Nick is actually actively interested in anyone else, but he knows his heart isn't 100% available, and he is creating a little distance for his own --and Dan's -- emotional safety. It's very mature of them!)

I hope they're okay going forward.
