Boy are you missing out if you've never had smørrebrød (Danish open faced sandwich - literally "butter bread"). Our friends served them to us during Thanksgiving weekend and my mind has been blown and tastebuds tantalized.⁣ ⁣ It starts with rugbrød, a thick and hearty rye bread made with whole grains. My friends used an @ikeausa mix and made it fresh. And even my husband who is a rye bread hater, loved it. Smear on some high quality butter - and don't skimp here, because, WHY? Then you pile on the toppings, one protein and garnishes that are as varied as each person who eats them. ⁣ ⁣ @CleanEatingMessyLife will take one look at this picture and call BS. But it was my husband's plate, I don't eat eggs. I had my smørrebrød with meatballs, tomatoes, and pickled beets. But I was too busy smashing bites of it in my mouth to remember to take a picture of mine.⁣ ⁣ The IKEA bread was easy to make and the toppings could literally be anything. Give it a try in 2019. [La base di uno Smørrebrød] Alla base di un buon Smørrebrød c'è il pane che va accompagnato dal burro, sempre!! Il pane alla segale è il classico pane che ci possa essere, ma questo panino aperto danese si adatta a tante tipologie diverse.
