“No, I’m not.” 

“Yes, you are.”

“Mate, she’s his assistant. Stop planning his murder,” Lando grumbled, though the amusement was clear on his face. He was enjoying each and every second of this.

It wasn’t uncommon for Max to find him in the McLaren motorhome on a Thursday afternoon, especially if they knew they would be in a conference together. The Dutchman would most likely just spend time catching up with his friend, laughing and joking about before they would be guided to the interview by their PR teams. 

However, more recently than not, Lando was starting to notice that Max was showing up to the McLaren motorhome for a different reason. A reason that had everything to do with the fact the motorhome beside the papaya orange team was none other than the Ferrari one. And Max had his eye on a certain member of the Ferrari team. 

You. 

You, who was Charles’ assistant. You, who was currently standing outside the Ferrari motorhome with your boss and his teammate. You, who currently had your hands on Charles’ chest as you tried to smooth out his team polo as best as you could. 

Not that Max cared. Not at all. He had no reason to care and he certainly didn’t. Or at least, that was what he was telling himself.

“You know,” Lando continued when the Dutchman had fallen silent. “Charles was telling me he thinks she has a crush on a driver.” 

Max’s head whipped around. “What?”

“Yeah,” Lando shrugged casually. “Apparently she admitted it when she was drunk.” 

“Who is it?” Max asked almost immediately.

Lando grinned. “Why do you care?”

“I don’t.” he retorted defensively. 

“Right,” the Brit laughed before patting him on the back. “God, you are so easy to wind up.”

“Lando,” Max grumbled. “Name.”

“Huh? Oh, it must have slipped my mind,” Lando sighed before shifting the conversation onto something else. 

But it didn’t leave his mind. It couldn’t leave his mind. Instead, Max spent the whole press conference wondering who the driver was. He racked his brain on who he saw you interacting with, who he had seen you hanging around more often than the others. 

The obvious answers were either one of the Ferrari drivers. But you had always insisted you viewed Charles as a brother, yet that didn’t cross Carlos off the potential list. He wondered if it was either of the McLaren drivers, or maybe even Daniel, his own teammate. He wondered maybe if it was one of the drivers he wasn’t as close to on the grid, that maybe you hung out with them for more than he realised. 

His answers during the conference were short, blunt and distracted and everyone noticed. 

You had been standing off to the side, phone in hand as you answered a few emails here and there whilst Charles dealt with his media duties. However, your attention was quickly pulled away from your work when you heard the Dutchman speak. And then, you were distracted by your own concern for him when you realised how off he was acting. 

You had waited until the end of the conference before you approached him, a sheepish smile on your face when you realised he was far too lost in thought to even realise you were beside him. You placed your hand on his arm, causing the boy to jump slightly and you quickly pulled your hand back.

“I’m sorry,” you apologised with a smile. “Are you okay?”

Max blinked. “What?”

“Are you okay?” you repeated as you wrapped your arms around yourself. “You seem really off today.”

“Uh, yeah,” he muttered, a crease forming between his brows. “Just have a lot on my mind.”

“Anything I can help with?” 

Deep down, Max knew you were probably only asking to be polite. He knew you probably expected him to just shake his head and say no so you could run off to help Charles like you should have been doing, rather than standing there talking to him. But the question was plaguing his mind, and who better to give him an answer than you?

“Do you like one of the drivers?” he blurted out.

You blinked, slightly surprised. “What?”

“Do you like one of the drivers?” he asked again, his eyes never leaving yours. “Lando says you did.”

“He did?” you questioned, your voice a little high-pitched and you hoped the Dutchman couldn’t tell your face was burning up. “I wonder where he got that from—-”

“Charles told him,” Max told you.

And you cursed your boss for opening his mouth.

“I…might,” you muttered shyly.

“Who is it?” 

“Max—”

“I won’t tell him,” he continued, pretending like the idea of you saying one of his friend’s names wouldn’t make his stomach churn uncomfortably. “I could even help you if you want—”

“No, Max, it’s you,” you interrupted, your nails digging into your palm as you blurted out the words. “You’re the driver.”

Max nodded once but stayed silent.

You instantly wanted the world to open up and swallow you whole. You cleared your throat, taking a step back as you tried to pretend the embarrassment of his blatant rejection wasn’t making you want to curl into a hole and never come out.

“I’m sorry, I should just—” you started but Max quickly intervened.

“Do you want to get dinner with me?” 

You blinked at him. “Dinner?”

“Yes, with me,” Max continued. “Tonight. Or tomorrow night. Whenever it works for you.”

“I—” you paused, letting out a breath as you smiled at him. “I would like that.”

Max didn’t bother hiding the small smile on his face. “Yeah?” 

“Yeah,” you said and nodded. “I’ll message you when I’m free.”

“I’ll be waiting,” he said, watching as you headed back towards the Ferrari garage, a weight having been lifted off his chest as he watched you go. He couldn’t even deny the butterflies in his stomach as he thought about your message.

Max was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn’t even see Lando approaching his side, grinning wide like a madman.

“I knew you liked her!”

“Shut up.” 

“Max and—”

“Fuck off, Norris.”

“Sitting in a tree–”

“You know what, you can get your own plane home.”

“You know, it’s really nice like this” Lando says, looking at you and then Max “Like what?” Max asked, tilting his head at the brit “No fighting between you two. I love that” You roll your eyes and continue scrolling on your phone.

Keegan chuckled “Don’t jinx it mate. They’ll be going at each others throat in the next few minutes” You ignore their conversation but feel max’s eyes land on your for a moment before his attention is back on Lando.

“There’s no reason for it right now, is there?” He said annoyed. His attention now on his phone “She’s over there, i’m over here. No need for anything”

“Yeah, until he decides he’s gonna be an asshole again” You say casually “Me? You’re the one with the shady comments” You look up at him “Oh really? I just go on about my day until you decide it’s time to ruin it”

Lando sinks in his seat, hands covering his face “I should’ve kept my mouth shut” Keegan laughs “Yeah, told you so”

“Just shut up, Fewtrell.” “Why don’t you shut up?” You roll your eyes “You’re the one who started this, so keep your mouth shut” You glare at him and before you can say something Lando stands up.

“Enough, please. We’re on vacation. Let’s go eat, i’m sure everyone is hungry” You hum and Max mumbles something incoherent under his breath. You side eye him but he gets pulled away by keegan.

You sit next to Lando and start a conversation about the next f1 season with him.

Max eyes you from time to time, making you shift in your seat. That man was getting on your nerves. But before you could think more about Max, your phone lit up.

Lando looks at you “Who’s it?” “Daniel” He hums “Lando.” You say sharply “I didn’t say anything.” He holds up his hands in surrender “You didn’t need to for me to know what you’re thinking.” He rolls his eyes “He’s been texting you quite often lately”

“And I keep him short. Relax” He nods and brings his attention to his food. You look up and see max looking at you. You raise an eyebrow at him, which he returns before he starts to eat.

“Alright, Good night” Lando says, giving you a quick peck on your forehead “Good night. See ya tomorrow” He waves a little and goes to his room. Keegan and Max wave at Lando before retreating to their own rooms. Max looks at you shortly before stepping into his room and closing his door.

You lay on your bed and watch some tv. You hear some footsteps in the hallway but don’t think anything of it.

A few hours later and you were still wide awake. Maybe you did have to much energy left? Melatonin? No definitely not taking that after the last couple times ended in nightmares.

You flip off the covers, put on some shoes and head for the door. You knew the hotel had a roof terrace that was open 24/7. You waited until the elevator opened on the top floor, which you exited.

A few steps onto the terrace. A light breeze was noticeable at this time. You headed for a few sunbeds when you noticed you weren’t alone. You squint before your eyes widened. Your sudden stop, and the noise of your shoes made the person turn around.

thinking back, this is pretty bad so im sorry for that. still trying to get my mojo back.

THE KANGAROO(KIE) VS THE WORLD

“you think she actually hates us?”

the group of men were currently out and about exploring the night life. though, this time they decided to switch things up a little. instead of their usual glamorous clubs, they decided to go somewhere that offered live music. seb described it as ‘a change of pace’ and in return, lando said that his ‘age is getting to him’ (behind his back, that is).

the entire grid was there as they were all invited — except one.

“what? c’mon, why not?” lando made an expression of offense.

“not tonight. any other night is fine, but i already have plans. sorry, lan.” she shrugged before walking away towards where her car was parked.

that didn’t stop him from following her, though. the curly-haired brit fell in step right behind the shorter girl to—well, truthfully, beg.

“it’ll be fun!” he reasoned.

shaking her head, she stopped mid-step and faced the brunette, making him stop abruptly too.

“i’m sure it will. but i’ve had this plan since way before you probably planned yours.”

he pouted. she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his attempt.

“next time, lan. i promise.”

remembering the conversation had lando still coated with bitterness. “not surprised if she does.”

max couldn’t help but laugh at his friend’s bitterness. he tapped his back (to which surprised lando), “no she don’t. i’m sure she has her reasons.”

as if on cue, suddenly they hear a familiar voice booming through the speakers.

the men’s heads never turned so quick before.

“oh mY GO—”

max was quick to snap his hand over lando’s mouth. and, on cue, not a moment too soon—

“EW!”

the dutch man immediately removed his hand off of lando’s mouth and wiped it on the british driver’s clothes, all the while holding an (overdramatic) expression of disgust.

he glared at the man and continued to talk (grumble), “if she didn’t tell you — or any of us, for that matter. she probably has her reasons.”

lando blinked. “okay? so?”

“so…” daniel walked up behind his teammate and rested his hands on both sides of his shoulders, “we should sit back, quietly, and watch.” he paused, lando still thinking with furrowed brows, “she doesn’t have to know.”

lando’s face brighten up as he finally catched up. “ah, i see.”

“but don’t you guys think—”

immediately, the older german man stopped his miniature, “don’t even try, mick. you know it won’t work.”

mick was about to say something else when he was suddenly cut off by lando shushing everyone. eventually he gave up trying to reason with anyone and sat down (in the dark, might i add) with everyone else as the stage lightings start to turn on.

there on the stage stood roo on the (audience’s) right holding a sticker-drowned plain white bass guitar. on center-stage stood roo’s friend they knew as daisy-mae holding her own red and white guitar along with an unfamiliar face sitting behind the drums.

everyone was surprised to see the stage lights turn on to a bright neon pink-haired roo rather than her usual hair color.

she wore a sleeveless white top with a big star design in the middle of her chest and a leather skirt paired with a pair of black thigh-high boots.

“interesting…” muttered lando with his chin resting on his interlaced hands. all the while the younger german driver across him tilted his head in an unreadable expression.

next thing they knew a tune starts to play and to their surprise, the once alfa romeo driver turned band geek leaned in the microphone, “angel… with a gun in your hand…”

their jaws dropped at the sound of her voice.

“she can sing…?”

“…she has a life outside of driving?!”

everyone’s heads immediately to the young aston martin driver, all with the same judging expression.

at that, the canadian immediately jumped ahead to defend himself. “what? she’s new! that’s how i thought of all of you when we all first met!” he said defensively with his hands (and voice) going up.

but, in truth was, no one really knew who she was. the closest thing they’ve figured out about her personal life was daisy-mae. and she was way more quiet about it than roo.

compared to the rest of the grid, she was probably the most private person yet. they seem to know so much about her yet also none at all. whether it was because she was new and still hadn’t warmed up to them like that yet or that’s just the way she is and they just haven’t gotten used to it yet. they—the media—would often compare her to kimi but that would just be wrong considering they’re nothing alike besides being tight-lipped.

watching her in another element was a new and interesting experience for them. very interesting. some might even be confident enough to bet it against her racing career.

with furrowed brows, carlos whispers to his teammate, “you think she would ever leave racing for this?”

“we’re not that lucky, mate.” charles mumbled, then shrugging, “plus you’d actually think she would leave mick?”

their moment of entertainment and amazement was cut short when she followed along the lyrics that escaped her lips.

“go on, replace me… when you’re cravin’ something sweeter than the words i left in your mouth… go on and spit me out.”

she. was. shameless.

it was almost as if the girl on that stage was not the same girl they drove on the track with, the same girl they do press conferences with, the same girl that was their co-worker and on-track rival.

that theory only furthermored when she switched instruments with daisy-mae and took over the entire stage with her presence, rocking her own solo riff.

they were seriously doubting this was the same girl as the kangaroo’s grid.

when the last notes were strung and the music died down, the girl walked over to the mic stand that once was occupied by her friend.

she started, “hi, everyone.” she was slightly out of breath — not surprise there — “we are: talking excessively. i’m your bassist slash occasional guitarist: autumn rolfe,”

the men collectively furrowed their brows in confusion, sharing glances with each other with words unspoken.

sure they doubted the rockstar was their co-worker and friend but they knew for sure it was roo. and that was not her name.

“joined by my beloveds—camellia gray,”— she pointed at daisy-mae —“on the guitar holding my bass, and finally our drummer rocky dilltogas.” she pointed at the unfamiliar new character — probably not his real name either after seeing a certain pattern.

strumming a few strings, the girl then continue speaking, “for this next song… i’ve begged and begged dai– cami for so long for us to perform this song. lucky yous, this was the night she finally agreed.” she smiles as she exchange instruments with daisy-mae—or ‘camellia gray’ as she said—once more.

then, an all-familiar tune starts playing. one that completely confirmed her identity.

“stacy, can i come over after school?”

a couple of more songs later (all the while the group of men continue to question their judgement) and the band bid their farewell after finishing their last song.

it was the three past rookies to show themselves — under the light that the girl would definitely notice them.

they saw as the blood draining from her face when she noticed their giggling faces. oh how she hated those three.

roo immediately said an awkward ‘thank you’ hurriedly and basically sprinted off to the backstage, leaving her two bandmates in confusion.

that is, until her best friend spotted the three giggling men. they waved at her happily, feigning innocence as her face dropped knowing exactly that they were the reason.

behind the stage, roo was still in shock, standing like she’s seen a ghost until her bandmates walked over to her.

daisy-mae was the first to walk over to her, a hand on her friend’s shoulder, “it’s fine.”

“i’m going to kill them.” she replied, her expression unmoved.

“i mean that’s one way to do it—”

“what happened?” asked the drummer.

before any of them could explain to him, they were interrupted by said explanation as they all approached them.

her face was almost in a permanent expression, hardening when she saw the three demons that held complete malice in their eyes when instead she was surprised with showers of compliments by her older co-workers.

but still, that didn’t stop the rest from existing and taking the big chance of absolutely mess with her. they would never give up the opportunity to pull a reaction from roo.

“so, autumn rolfe, was it?” george smiled happily with his arms crossed.

“shut up.”

“i think i’m co-workers with your sister: spring.” snickered alex.

“funny. anythin’ else?” she deadpanned.

“yeah—”

but before the mclaren driver could say anything, roo had already had her fingers clasped on his ear—cutting off his shits and giggles.

“what the hell! i haven’t said anything, why didn’t you do it when these guys were talkin’!” he complained.

“you’re the nearest one.”

“you and i are exactly the same distance as you and alex!”

“yeah, but he’s a whole electric pole, you’re a gremlin.”

“just say you hate me the most.”

“i hate you the most.”

he rolls his eyes, grumbling, “you’re not my favorite either.”

“lying? really? you know that’s my thing, right?”

their bantering was interrupted when roo heard her name being called. she turned around to see her bandmates standing behind her with another new presence with them.

her eyes widen and quickly let go of lando’s ear, running off to her friends.

“everyone! since i no longer have any form of privacy, i’d like to introduce you to my friends.” the drivers all crowded the group of four. “you guys know daisy-mae,” said girl waved and a string of familiar ‘hi’s and ‘hello’s greeted her, “this here is atticus,” the boy they recognized as the drummer smiled politely at them. roo then looked at the new girl standing beside daisy-mae, “and uh, this is nika, don’t know when or how she got here.”

“but she’s happy i’m here.” said girl stated happily with a giddy smile.

“sure.”

at her monotonous voice, nika’s smile dropped, rolling her eyes.

everyone then slowly dropped the topic and went on their own as another band take over the stage with their more upbeat dance worthy music.

she was left was now only left with alex, george, and lando. she sighed.

“anything else?”

george shrugged, “but seriously, i think it was pretty cool.”

the girl couldn’t help but feel the heat rushing to her face, she never expected a compliment coming out of his mouth.

“oh. uh, thanks?”

“i mean, by the looks of you i had a feeling you have some sort of hannah montana-esque secret somewhere.” alex mentioned, only making roo’s eyes furrow. “that was a compliment.” he clarified after seeing the look on her face.

then, lando leaned over to her and whispered in her ear, “don’t tell her this but i always thought she was really cool, this was just an upgrade.”

confused, again, roo turned to a goofy-grinning lando with her right brow raised. alex caught her attention when started again, “he’s had a few drinks.”

What drew you to Carlando in particular? What made them your favourites? Was it always like this or did you start somewhere else? so i grew up watching f1 in pakistan and then became a lapsed fan when we moved to a country where f1 wasn't as readily available (mostly because the commentary wasn't available in english). my husband and i went home to visit my family and stay there for a few months during 2020. it was peak pandemic so we knew that if we were going somewhere, we were going to stay put for a while lol. while there, my brother was like hey let's watch f1 together and oh man. i realized how much i loved it as a kid and how much i missed it. so he told me if i wanted to catch up, i could watch DTS (lol) and i did and immediately i was like ok daniel and carlos (and ofc lewis) are my drivers. we started following the 2021 season and a few races in, my brother was like hey if you like carlos you should watch the mclaren videos of him and lando.

How am I supposed to sleep tonight? I’m just so fucking happy for Lando 😭😭😭

Damn this time it was way harder to decide but here are my favorite drivers two months (holy shit, it’s been two months already?) into liking f1:

1. Alex Albon

Albono is and will (hopefully) always be my number one (not counting Seb of course lol). And he did so well this weekend! The practices were perfect and today gaining P8 back was so great!! I admit, it again was hard for me to focus on him because of what was going on at the front, but it wasn’t as hard as it was last week lol

2. Charles Leclerc

Again, nothing changed here but I’m not going to complain about that, but the race was not optimal for Ferrari. It was hard for me to cheer for them because I didn’t want them to overtake Alex lol but I’m really sad about how it turned out for them anyway.

3. Sergio Perez

This one was the hardest decision I have ever made. I wanted to put Lewis on third again, but I think I just realized that I’ve been obsessing over Checo for so long now. Honestly, I have so much to say about him, have had for weeks and I feel like it’s about time that I give him the credit he deserves.

And the race today.. Guys, my heart... Quali yesterday made me so sad and I didn’t even understand that he was out after Q1 at first and why, but then I thought about his performance last week and let myself hope. Today wasn’t as good as last week but he still killed it! I did not cheer for him as he overtook Alex and Charles obviously and I hesitated to cheer when he overtook Carlos but I can’t help to be happy for him xD

Also I somehow started shipping Chestappen. Max not being mad at Checo after last week's inchident in turn 1 right at the start launched something in me and idk, I’m kinda digging it tho lol

Honerable mentions:

Lewis. Obviously, I wanted him on third but my soft spot for Checo took over, but you cannot believe how happy I am for Lewis. As you probably all know by now, I always like to see people on the podium for their home race. This week it was not even possible for all Brits to be on the podium as there are four, but I am so happy that two of them made it 😀

Lando. Obvoiusly! After that quali and race! I couldn’t be happier for Lando. And let me tell you now that he was the third competitor for third in my ranking. I’ve been watching so much Lando content lately and I just love this guy. He is the most relatable driver on the grid and he cares so much about his fans. He’s just the best.

Carlos. Well with Lando content comes Carlando content and I love it. Also I have been developing a little soft spot for Carlos as well. I’ve liked him before but it’s stronger now 😊

Might also have to do with how Ferrari treats him lately. He deserves better and the race today must have been awful for him. This triple overtake with Checo, Alex and Charles must’ve been horrible, and I just hope he doesn’t feel too bad after this disaster of a race.

Max. Well, Chestappen.. But I gotta say, Chestappen is more of a fun thing because cute and all, but I’m still a Lestappen shipper and if I had to choose, I’d have to choose Lestappen because they make more sense. And the way he keeps saying ‘inchident’ 😭😭😭

But same tbh, I can’t even say or read ‘incident’ the right way anymore, I always say ‘inchident’.

Also, I feel like being friends with Max must be really frustrating. Like you want to be mad because he always wins everything, and you don't stand a chance, but you can't be mad because he praises you all the time and says that he had so much fun fighting you. That would drive me crazy.

Also, Max' hugs look so comfortable. I want one. And I want to touch his hair.

Daniel Ricciardo. I don’t know why I never mention him. He’s always been one of my favorites and I just feel like that’s a given and I don’t have to say it because it’s so obvious even if it isn't. Kind of like how it is with Seb.

Logan. This is more about how I noticed him more this week. He did a pretty good job this weekend and I couldn’t help but start to become a little Williams fan. The team seems to be heading in the right direction and I love that for them. Mostly for Alex but also for the rest of the team 😊

Oscar. Same with him. He did so fucking well and I love that for him.

Lance. I’ve become a fan. He is such a sweetheart and I want to give him the world.

Pierre. I feel so bad for him today. He must feel awful, and I just want to hug him 🙁

I sadly didn't have much time to check out post race stuff, because I have an exam tomorrow :(

— the most obvious being him trying to teach us dutch, as of now i still have absolutely no clue how to say good luck in dutch so i would not be calling him a good teacher 😭. Then when we seen him the next day and he tested us, my bestie was the one carrying us since she’s from SA and speaks afrikaans so similar to dutch!!

— we had both british and scottish flags and got the brits (including alex 🫶🏼) to sign the british flag and the other drivers to sign the scottish flag! When Max signed it he done it right bang in the middle of the cross because he said thats where daniel would’ve wanted to do it so he wanted to get in there first!! THIS ABSOLUTELY MELTED MY MAXIEL HEART 🙏🏼

— also max made so so sure to make it so he got to basically every fan who went up to him, even with jos (👎🏼👎🏼) lurking around he still made the effort!!

— on the Sunday too we met him again and even though he was in a rush he made sure to stop for us, talking to us since he remembered us from the day before and was mimicking our accent (in a funny way) when we were talking to him and we were doing the same back to him, like the way he says three ect

Daniel started noticing back when they were teammates. Now he blames himself for not paying enough attention to the younger Brit before.

He started noticing how more times than not, Lando would come in wearing long sleeves, even though it was blaring hot.

Even when he caught a glimpse of Lando in the gym, it was with long sleeves.

His shirts, sweaters and hoodies were all long enough to almost be considered a skirt sometimes, slightly exaggerated, so they never rode up high enough for anyone to catch some skin when he stretched.

It took a while for him to notice, but once he had, it was all Daniel could see.

He even started to notice more things....

How Lando would sometimes wince when he got a too enthusiastic pat on the back from Zak.

How he quickly, but discreetly, pulled his arm away when someone grabbed it.

How the younger man always seemed to hunch in on himself whenever he was told to go home.

How concerning it was that Lando didn't even let out a breath of relief whenever they had some weeks off from racing.

It was like Lando didn't want to leave the hospitality.

As much as all of them loved racing, this really was concerning. Or at least it was to Daniel.

Something was off. Very off.

But the thing was, Daniel didn't want to make any assumptions. And talking to Lando about it also probably wasn't a good idea.

Lando wouldn't tell him anything. He'd just tell him that he was imagining things.

Maybe he was.

But he knew that he wasn't.

The only thing he could do was to keep observing his now ex-teammate.

Daniel watched from outside the Vcarb garage how Lando crawled out of his car after trying two times already.

He saw Jon trying to go to Lando's aid, and saw him being waved off by the driver.

Damn stubborn kid.

Lando finally made it out of his car, but even from a distance, Daniel could see the boy's legs were slightly shaking.

He didn't even have a crash. He wasn't sick.

Something was seriously wrong.

Daniel was tired of just staying on the side lines while his friend was clearly not doing well.

Seeing Lando retreating to his driver's room, he made his decision.

No one tried to stop him as he made his way through Lando's side of the McLaren garage, waving at some of the engineers in greeting as he passed them.

Jon was standing outside Lando's drivers room, debating on going in or not, when he turned his head as he heard footsteps coming closer.

Spotting Daniel, Jon gave him a nod and wordlessly moved to the side.

There was a look on his face that Daniel couldn't quite make out what it meant, but, apparently he was going to find out as soon as he opened the door without even knocking.

"Hey buddy bear, I - - - -"

The rest of whatever he was gonna say trailed off because he was too stunned to speak.

Lando was there, lying on the massage table with his fireproofs hanging low on his waist and for once he was actually shirtless.

But that wasn't what turned Daniel speechless. He'd seen Lando shirtless plenty of times. Before.

What he hadn't seen before were these marks.

Marks that definitely didn't come from the car.

Lando snapped his head to the side when he heard Daniel's voice instead of Jon's. Immediately wrapping his arms around himself, but the damage was already done.

"Lan..... What is this."

Lando's eyes were spitting fire, but they also radiated sadness.

"Go away, Daniel."

Daniel shook his head, walking closer. The room being so small, he only had to take two steps.

"Tell me who did this."

"It's none of your business."

A warning.

Back off now you still can.

"Lando."

"I said, get out. This is not your team anymore. I don't own you anything."

And that - - - - that really stung.

He wanted to argue. He wanted to try and stay.

But then Jon knocked on the door, giving Daniel an apologetic look as he peeked his head in.

Lando waved Jon inside and gave Daniel a pointed look.

"Three's a crowd, Daniel."

There was anger in his voice and in his eyes, but Daniel also noticed the quiet desperation.

He would give in this time, but next time.....

If hevwould ever find himself in another situation like this....

He won't let himself get pushed away so easily.

I don't know if I should continue this or not.

Lando and Y/N nodded at his words, understanding that fans can remember these things for years to come. ''I wanna see his face the moment he finds out what it means.'' She said, rubbing her hands together like a villain would when creating their masterplan.

''Should we let him figure it out on his own or do we tell him?'' Alex asked, debating if they should explain the meaning to him.

The nickname caused some stifled laughter in the room, particularly from Pierre, Daniel, Lando and Alex. Meanwhile George awkwardly looked around as he made his way over to them.

''Hi, guys.'' He sat down next to Alex, a puzzled look on his face.

Lando briefly took a glimpse at Y/N before speaking. ''You guys are later than usual, you had a bussy morning?'' He asked, trying his best to not start cackling.

''Yeah, we had to film something with the team…'' George hesitantly answered, totally unaware what they were laughing about. ''Why are you saying busy like that?'' He asked the younger guy, putting his hand on his waist.

''Oh, isn't that how you say it?'' Alex said, feigning innocence. ''Yeah, or tweet it.'' Y/N added, having too much fun teasing the Mercedes driver.

''I can't follow, guys.'' George was visibly running out of patience with the teasing.

''Oh, crikey! He doesn't know what we are talking about.'' Y/N mimicked George's speech, continuing the mocking.

Alex was the one to cave in first. ''We're talking about your latest tweet, Russell.''

''What about it?'' He obviously still hadn't realized what had been so wrong with his spelling of the word 'busy'.

''You still don't know?'' Lando said wide-eyed, surprised George still hadn't been made aware of the entire thing.

Lando and Alex turned to Y/N, pleading with their eyes that she explains it to him. She rolled her eyes, but succumbed.

''In your tweet it sounded like you said 'bussy' instead of 'busy', and let's say the two words have completely different meanings.'' She clarified.

George nodded, understanding the fault he made. ''Okay… then what does it mean?''

''With 'bussy' you're referring to a man's, uh, anus.''

They could see the gears turning in George's head, starting to comprehend why he received the reactions he did to what he assumed was a normal tweet. He had given the internet another reason to clown him for an entire season.
