Calling it right now. Sheldon Creed will either never win a race or have a 2021 Daniel Hemric arc of pointing into the Championship 4, winning it all in thrilling fashion, and promptly disappearing into irrelevance forever.

A Hot Diggity Dog Day for Todd Gilliland at Martinsville
Top Dog: Todd Gilliland Just a year ago, you couldn’t blame Todd Gilliland if he would have questioned his future before the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season started. Front Row Motorsports had opted to put Zane Smith in the No. 38 for six races, a seat that was supposed to solely feature Gilliland. And for […]

Also if you're used to f1, you're going to be confused. Just go with it xD
Tagging Formula 1 to reach everybody!
This weekend, NASCAR is racing a street course in downtown Chicago for only the second time. Let's be real, most of these guys still aren't with it when it comes to a street course.
So if you're a racing fan and want to watch something with massive silliness potential, I encourage you to tune in if you're awake! The Xfinity race is at 3:30 Eastern time today and the big Cup race is tomorrow at 4:30 Eastern.
(If you're worried about cheering on a problematic driver, I suggest sticking to Trackhouse, 23XI, JR Motorsports, and Kaulig, or doing a suuuuper deep dive on whoever you pick. It's a minefield, and there's a lot of shitty people. 😅 My personal friends' safe group for Cup is Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, Austin Cindric, Shane Van Gisbergen, Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, and a reformed Chase Elliott.)
Happy to answer questions if you're not familiar with NASCAR since it's been my thing for over thirty years I'm so old help.

NASCAR's biggest crash in history wipes out almost entire field at Talladega
'The Big One' at Talladega Superspeedway made its presence felt during Sunday's YellaWood 500, claiming nearly entire field in a historically large crash.
The YellaWood 500 devolved into chaos after “The Big One” claimed nearly the entire field. The massive crash involved 28 cars, marking the most drivers ever wiped out in a single crash in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series.
With just five laps remaining in the playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway, Brad Keselowski got shoved into the bumper of race-leader Austin Cindric while running in the bottom line. The No. 2 Ford went flying up the track following the bump, collecting a plethora of other cars running behind him.
When the dust had finally settled on the massive crash, a record-breaking 28 drivers were affected - including postseason contenders Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Alex Bowman. Cindric, Michael McDowell and Daniel Hemric, meanwhile, were taken to the infield care center to be assessed for injuries but were soon after released.

SortaSports' 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff Predictions
Tumblr media
For 12 of the 13 best drivers in the second tier of stock car racing! (The odd one out is Ryan Truex.)
Round of 12 Exits:
Parker Kligerman: I'd like to see him at least win a race for once, but I doubt this story lasts much longer.
Sammy Smith: Yeah, I thought this even before he had issues at Kansas.
Riley Herbst: Who was once "Terrible" now may slowly be getting more than "Mediocre", but that's about it.
Jesse Love: I see a lot of potential in Jesse, but he's just gone cold for a while. Next year could be great though.
Round of 8 Exits:
A.J. Allmendinger: Sadly, the Dinger has been a letdown this year, and I frankly only have him surviving because of the Charlotte Roval.
Shane van Gisbergen: The story of SVG has been so exciting, but once the road courses are out of the way, it may get tough this postseason.
Chandler Smith: Quietly solid, but perhaps not enough to reach Phoenix.
Austin Hill: I may be lowballing Hill here (although I hope I'm not), but he just hasn't done much for months aside from one measly win. If I'm somehow right, I won't be complaining! XD
Championship 4:
Justin Allgaier: Even after choking away the Regular Season crown (and wrecking at Kansas as I was typing this), Allgaier definitely has a good path to another Final 4, although his super recent struggles are concerning.
Cole Custer: Perhaps the best driver in the Xfinity Series, Custer definitely looks determined to defend his crown and further justify his impending Cup Series return.
Sam Mayer: He's been hot and cold lately, but I feel like he could have just enough great days to sneak into Phoenix.
Sheldon Creed: Consistency can at least get you to the dance, and Creed has been unfathomably consistent in great finishes. Yes, he hasn't won yet, but if he slides to the finale, I could very well see this year's Daniel Hemric story happening.
And my pick for 2024 Xfinity Series Champion is...
Sheldon Creed!
Maybe I'm just believing in the scriptwriters too much or something, but not only has he had the consistency, but he finished 2nd in the finale last year even with nothing to race for but a bit of extra points money. I see it being close between him and Custer (who I probably would give the nod to in a more reasonable mood), but for now, if a guy with no national series wins could pull off a magical title in '21, then I could totally see a former Truck Series champion shocking the world in '24.
Alright, now time to get my heart broken no later than Martinsville! :D
