Chapter 120: Kashima Reiko's Maiden Heart

Lots of endings and lots of beginnings in this chapter. The Space Globalists arc is finally completed! Even though we say goodbye to some characters, there's no doubt we will see them again. yesssss! i by no means think it's perfect in its handling, but momo is probably the most interesting and fun main female character i've seen in a shonen anime in...ever?? and she's pretty clearly our protagonist with okarun as the deuteragonist.

Gobbled up the Dandadan anime and manga recently and absolutely adored it all. Not only does it feature the most likable and strongly written female characters I’ve ever seen in a shonen, it discusses extremely pertinent themes about consent and bodily autonomy from a lens of female solidarity while also elevating healthy relationships with kind communicative male characters who respect boundaries. It’s wacky, fun, gorgeous, and super refreshing.

Dandadan reallly reminds me, in a weird way, of one piece, especially when OP was in its infancy

they both take over 100 chapters for the plot to actually start moving, focusing early on a "villain of the week" format rather then grand overrarching narrative - it takes 120 chapters for the first major big bad of dandadan to be introduced, and 163 chapters for us to learn that dandadan isnt just a random sound tatsu thought was funny

theyre both very zany, wacky and extremely creative from arc-to-arc basis

despite their infamous reputation for being horny and problematic, they both contain some pretty anti-establishment and even progressive elements/themes, especially for a big mainstream battle shonen

the backstories in both can hit you like a fucking truck, in the best way possible

and lastly, this is pure speculation on my part, since idk exact creative proccess of DDD's mangaka, but... i have a feeling in regards to the first point, that Tatsu has a) enough creativity and ideas in him for the story to go on for years and years to come b) he plans a lot more then anyone is really giving him credit for...
