Day #21 - Fake Dedede & Danbana Dee

Is Preformer black and white, or do they have a different colour palette?

Level 2 Rehearsals (30/10/2019)

Morning Session - (Lucy, Mia, Paris)

We sat in the cage and discussed how we were going to distribute the workload for our presentation project, we decided that: Mia would research the history of 70′s disco, Paris would research fashion, Lucy would research main artists, and I would research musical characteristics of 70′s Disco. This left sonic elements and production as our last topic which we agreed to collaborate on researching once we have completed our research for the other topics.

Afternoon Session - (Danbana, Mia, Conor)

We took this opportunity to practice Creep as we did not have to rehearse with the main bands, I taught Dan the rhythm guitar parts and the guitar harmony during the chorus, Conor learned the drum parts quickly however we did not sit through and workout the nuances as a band because Brad was not able to find a bass to use. Dan picked up the rhythm part fairly quickly although we didn’t practice for very long as a group, only 30 minutes before lunch. After lunch Mia and I worked out the structure of the lyrics and how we would share them between us. We decided we could both sing the chorus, I would start with ‘but I’m a creep’, then Mia would catch the next line, and then me and then her, we will swap this around for each chorus depending on who sings the next verse. I will be singing the first verse, Mia will sing the second, we will both do the ‘Runnnn’ bit and then I will catch the last verse. We decided to harmonize on the last lines of each verse, ‘I wish I was special’, and ‘You’re so very special’. So far it’s going great we need to get together as a group next week and properly bang out the song.

Level 2 Rehearsals (28/10/2019)

Morning Session - (Lucy, Mia, Paris)

This was our first session and as such was a pain to get started we worked on figuring out which key would suit the vocalists best which ate up some time; and then we worked on the intro/verse sections. We decided to play it in E minor, and will record our first take of this tomorrow when we have had a little more time to go through the structure of the song as a group.

Afternoon Session - (Abi, Aaron, Frank, Chanel)

Unfortunately, Frank and Chanel were both absent from today’s rehearsal. Today we played the song all the way through with Abi leading the vocals, Aaron and I did some backing vocals during the verses and in between parts, we played this the whole way through with only minor mistakes, tomorrow we will show Frank and Chanel what we’ve got and throw them into the mix.

Bohemian Rhapsody

During lunch and rest breaks: Dan G, Brad, Oli, and I all practiced and went through Bohemian Rhapsody, we can play through up until the ascending licks before the second guitar solo, which I need to learn the guitar harmonizes with the piano leading right up to the solo. To flesh this song out we need some vocalists to join us, Frank has already said he’ll try, so we just need to find backing vocalists tomorrow.

Creep (Blues Brad, Danbana, Mia, and Conor)

I want to play Creep by Radiohead for our next show, I have planned a rehearsal on Wednesday for the following people: Bradley on Bass, Daniel on Guitar, Mia on vocals, Conor on Drums, and finally me on Guitar and vocals. We will have to work out how to share the vocal parts, and consider adding a harmony.
