they let out an amused chuckle. you have to give it to them, time lord politics can be so, very amusing. not in and on themselves, of course, but when you look at them through the scale of the big picture.  don’t kill them –we’ve already killed their neighbours. oh, don’t you interfere with that –we’ve only just arranged it! only the amusement ends where the annoyance begins. they can appreciate hypocrisy, when done correctly. when it’s the perfectly timed punchline to a well written joke.  but time lords can’t even do that without wearing it down to becoming insufferable.

and she is the very epitome of time lord. the horrified tone in her voice, the disbelief. as if she hadn’t been personally responsible of decisions to do much, much worse. at least they’re never coy about it.    ‘ why, you know me. a little bit of this, a little bit of that  ’

they wave their hand flippantly, with a just a flippant shrug.  ‘ you know how i like to keep busy ’  at that their scrunch their nose and give her a little grin. picking at prodding at her nerves is just so much more fun when she is so … stuffy about everything. they could all use with a redefinition of the concept of fun.    ‘  speaking of . is this ... scolding going to take long?  yes yes, i know i’ve been very very bad,  whatever particular incident made it to your  so very exclusive priority list : yes, it was on me,  mea culpa.  apologies, won’t do it again, whatnot.  ’        they do have business to attend.  they won’t do whatever was worthy summoning them here for again, no, but with this wild imagination of theirs. someone’s got to keep the universe on its toes.
