King’s Cross - the best destination for families this Easter
19-22nd April 2019
Over this Easter weekend, the Canopy Market in King’s Cross sees an Easter transformation of food, music, and a whole lot of fun for the whole family. And what Easter wouldn’t be complete without animals too? Vauxhall City Farm will be on hand to provide knowledge and petting to their cutest rabbits, ducks, guinea pigs and more.
Canopy Market’s carefully selected artisan food stalls will of course also be on hand for food lovers to discover and enjoy, including freshly-made pasta from Love Farina, cheesy toasties from the big MELT, pastries and breads from the Little Bread Pedlar, British cheeses from Heritage Cheese and crispy, freshly-fried churros dusted with sugar and cinnamon dished up by Churros Garcia. So no-one goes thirsty, there will be craft beers on tap from Big Hug Brewing, and English wines from Redhill Farm Estate. For those looking to find an original gift or to do some spring shopping, emerging designer-makers include Esoteric London, Kin and Cloth, House of Illustration, Red Squirrel, Promises Promises, Visual Flux, Smith and Strand and Starling & Hider.
From Friday 19 - Monday 22 April, there is something for everyone:-
· The little ones can say hello to guinea-pigs, rabbits, chickens and ducks at the Canopy Market petting zoo. Every day over theEaster weekend, the team from Vauxhall City Farm will be on hand to tell you all about the animals and give you a chance to meet and pet them.
· And for keen animal lovers, there will also be an animal wellbeing workshop with the Royal Veterinary College on the 19 April from 12-3pm to learn how animals eat, sleep and play – and how to care properly for your pets.
· The Big Easter Egg Hunt is sure to provide entertainment for all the family – grab a map a join the hunt around Canopy Market, find the clues and win some delicious Easter eggs. There’s a chocolate treat for everyone who takes part.
· Will also feature Canopy Market’s well-loved combination of fresh artisan produce, delicious street food and unique pieces from designer-makers, with the addition of hot cross buns, Simnel cake and lots of chocolate.
· Free workshops daily such as egg decorating and Easter bonnet making hosted by guest makers including Crafty Fox, Made in Arts London, students from Central Saint Martins
Not only that, the area is hosting a mega list of events and activities!

All aboard the Easter Express! Jump on the 1960’s vintage Dotto classic Land Train at Granary Square (with a Flower Power makeover!). Take a tour of King’s Cross, from Granary Square, through West Handyside Canopy to Coal Drops Yard, and enjoy all sorts of Easter fun along the way.

STORE Store are creating diorama selfie booths which reflect the history of Coal Drops Yard.
Follow the map to find the booths around Coal Drops Yard, strike a pose and take a photo home with you.
DAILY EASTER ART AND CRAFT ACTIVITIES: Let's Play space, Coal Drops Yard, 6 – 22 April,12 – 5pm.
Every single day for seventeen days there will be free workshops and activities, for all ages, across King’s Cross. Taking classic Easter fun – like Easter bonnet making, egg decorating and rolling – and giving them a contemporary, arty twist. With guest makers from Crafty Fox, artists from Made in Arts London, students from Central Saint Martins and whole range of artists, makers, illustrators and designers bringing something new to do every day.
FREE FACE PAINTING: across site, 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 April, 12 – 4pm
Face painting always brings a smile. Our artists will be on hand each day to transform your little ones. Head to the photo booth afterwards to capture their alter ego.

Our balloon artists will be spreading a little bit of joy with their twisted creations. Throughout the weekends in the Easter holiday.

Explore the garden with this fun trail; find all the little critters and treasures to claim your prize.
HICCE JUNIOR CHEFS WORKSHOPS: Hicce, Coal Drops Yard, 8-19 April, 10.30am
Hicce are hosting the second series of their Junior Chefs workshops over the Easter holidays. Starting with a big old Easter egg hunt, followed by Willy Wonka-esque chocolate egg painting, then a healthy and nutritious lunch with a homemade sugar-free soft drink
For children aged 5+. Lunch booking required. Parents are required to accompany children throughout. Tickets are £15/child and are available at www.hicce.co.uk/tickets
COLLAGE CLUB LDN: 8, 10, 15 April, 12-4pm
Swap pencils for scissors and a wealth of beautiful papers at Collage Club’s workshops, perfect for anyone of any age keen to flex the3ir creative muscles and get making without having to produce perfectly proportioned, boring drawings. Each session features different activities including speed-collaging and collaborative image-making. All cutting and sticking abilities are welcome and all materials are provided! #westicktogether

The Amazing Art Cart will be pulling up into King’s Cross. Run by Dawn East and a team of illustrators, painters and designers, it is a versatile mobile art station providing stylish creative workshops for all ages.
SKIP GARDEN SPRING WORKSHOPS: The Skip Garden, 11 and 18 April, 12-4pm
Join our gardeners to learn all about growing organically in the city. There will be garden crafts including seed bombs and making paper pots. Global Generation’s Skip Garden is a community garden with a twist, it is fully moveable!
MOON LANE BOOKS – FESTIVAL OF FUN: Coal Drops Yard, 12, 13, 14 April, 10am – 5pm
The amazing Moon Lane Books will be at Coals Drop Yard for a three-day action-packed, fun-filled extravaganza! Join Gilbert Giggles, master of disaster, and author Tamara Macfarlane for some circus, creative writing workshops and even a Bad-Mannered Tea Party.
Moon Lane Books is a specialist children's bookshop dedicated to raising equality in children's books. We work with emerging and well-established creatives to support London's diverse population.
SEVERE JAZZ WARNING: Canopy Market, West Handyside Canopy, 13 April, 12- 3pm
The 16-piece jazz orchestra return to Canopy Market, after an unbelievably popular, knockout set at Christmas.
YOUNG GEOMETETRIST WORKSHOP: STORE Store, Coal Drops Yard,15 April, 2-5pm
STORE Store present the Young Geometrist Workshop, a fun origami workshop for kids from 8-15 years old. This workshop will guide you in how to make and decorate paper geometrical structures as Easter decorations, utilising “The Geometrist” method. Using only a pencil, a pair of scissors and paper glue, a simple craft process will enable you to complete beautiful polyhedra shapes. TICKETED: £25 + £2.52 fee
CERAMICS WORKSHOP WITH MATILDA MORETON: Let’s Play Space, Coal Drops Yard, 18 April, 6-8.30pm
Brilliant ceramicist, Matilda Moreton, will expertly take you through the essentials of making with clay – be it classic tableware or something more experimental! Matilda is a ceramics teacher at Central Saint Martins.
ANIMAL WELLBEING WORKSHOP: West Handyside Canopy, 19 April 12-3pm
Join the experts from the Royal Veterinary College for a workshop that teaches you about how animals eat, sleep and play. If you have a pet, or are thinking about getting one, you’ll learn how to understand and care for them better.

AMWA Designs creates handmade textiles and print designs for the home, inspired by Adinkra symbols and proverbs of Ghana. The symbols serve a decorative function, but also convey traditional wisdoms and adages.
CLIMATE SCIENCE WORKSHOPS WITH IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON: West Handyside

Calling everyone who’s interested in learning about climate change! Students from the Grantham Institute at Imperial College will be at King’s Cross running interactive family workshops. Discover how we travel and even how we eat will change in the future as we develop new tools to protect our environment – including adding insects to the menu!
DAN PEARSON INSTALLATION: Coal Drops Yard, 20-22 April
Coal Drops Yard is set for a colourful spring make-over. During Easter weekend, renowned Landscape Architect, Dan Pearson will be transforming the yard with a sea of beautiful flowers.
