O Where Is My Fair Sun
This is a monologue I created for a Shakespeare class a few years ago, (and I am very proud of it) so I decided to post it here!
The basic premise is that in this AU, Romeo and Juliet survived the events of the show. They are at a party where they know no one else, and at some point they get separated.
TW: I didn't write it intentionally like this, but looking back I've realized that this is one giant panic attack being experienced by Romeo. If you aren't in the mental headspace to read that, I'd recommend skipping this.
The title is from a line in "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks": Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon.
Where is my wife?
This champagne tastes horrible
I don’t know anyone here
Why did I attend this?
“Can someone help me find my wife Juliet!”
“Excuse me, can you-nope”
Oh god oh god oh god someone’s coming near me
I don’t know what to say
What should I say?
Should I just run to the bathroom?
No no no no no, please just ignore me, I’m looking for Juliet, I can’t-
“Hi! It's so nice to see you again!”
Have I ever met him?
He’s just talking on and on
Maybe I can sneak away
Where is Juliet
I don’t know what to say to these people
What if I say the wrong thing and everyone thinks I’m a weirdo?
“I’m so sorry to interrupt, but can you-
I’d also love to hear your story-”
What did he say it was about?
“But I need to find my wife!"
Can someone please help me find her!”
Everyone is talking so loud
Why can’t I breathe?
Where is my wife
The voices are too loud
They’re screaming all around me
Screaming
So much screaming
I’m going to die right here aren’t I?
The voices are getting louder
Louder
Louder
Oh god I can’t breathe
Everyone is screaming so fast
Screaming
Why is everyone screaming like this?
I can’t shut the noises off
“CAN EVERYONE PLEASE JUST STOP SCREAMING!”
Goddamnit, Romeo
What have you done?
If I had any chance of navigating this party before
I sure as hell don’t have it now
Couldn’t keep your damn mouth shut, couldn’t you?
Jesus Christ, they’re all looking at me
Probably think I’m a fucking lunatic
"Get out of the way!"
“I’m sorry everyone, I just can’t talk right now!”
Thank god, the bathroom is empty
Peace, quiet
You can breathe easy
Where is my wife?
“No, no, no, you can’t freak out again”
I can’t go out there now
Can’t face them after this disaster.
“Juliet’s fine, Juliet’s fine, she would have texted me if she was hurt”
What if she’s dead?
“You would have heard sirens, Romeo”
What if she left you?
“No, no, she wouldn’t do that!”
Are you sure?
“Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!”
Wait, there's someone in the next stall.
“Juliet, are you there?”
“Yes, honey, I'm here.”
“I've missed you too”

Training
TWs: pet whump, dehumanization, shock collars, panic attacks. sorry it took so long<3
@cupcakes-and-pain @maracujatangerine
I jerked awake, trying to yank the collar off as it shot pain through my neck, burning and fierce. It stopped just as fast as it started, and I whimpered as my eyes focused on Seren, standing in front of me. I wheezed, trying to recover my breath, but the muzzle made it extremely hard to do.
“Finally. We have stuff to do today, puppy, so let’s get right in. I have a special training room set up just for you, so get up.” Seren snapped, opening the kennel door and yanking me up by the collar around my neck. I flinched back, trying to get away, shaking.
That- she said the collar wasn’t gonna hurt, didn’t she? She said she wouldn’t hurt me, why- I wanna go home, I want Detective or the heroes, they would stop this, they wouldn’t hurt me, they wouldn’t- I shrieked when the collar lit up again, burning and hot and painful. I crumpled to the floor, trying and failing to breathe through the stupid muzzle. It hurts, and I can’t breathe and I’m tired and I just wanna go home, please, I just wanna leave, it hurts and I’m scared and I’ll be good, please just let me go home, please please please-
“Jesus christ, it was just one shock, calm down. It wasn’t even that bad.” Seren said as she undid the muzzle and pulled it away. I gasped, trying to get as much air in my lungs as I could.
She yanked me to my feet again, keeping a hold on the collar this time. I tried to keep up, even though my head was still spinning and it felt like I wasn’t getting enough oxygen even with the muzzle off. I followed her as she led me out of the kennels and down towards the large room I first saw Hunter in. No one was inside, and she didn’t slow down as she tugged me across to another door. She only let go of my collar to scan her badge to open the door, then held the leash with both hands. We were in another hallway, but I focused on trying not to panic and keep my breathing steady. She abruptly stopped at a heavy metal door with a deadbolt on it. I stepped back, not liking how the deadbolt was on the wrong side of the door, but Seren yanked me into the room before I could spiral any further. She kept going, ignoring me as I stumbled, and led me into the very back corner. There’s a dog cage, dog bed, and a chain all set against the wall. I clamped my jaw shut, trying not to whimper. She roughly disconnected the leash, clipping the chain in its place.
“You really need to calm down. Getting panicky over one tiny shock isn’t goin’ to help you any. Literally all you need to do is listen and obey, puppy, that’s it. I need to grab your food and water bowls, and some treats, alright? You’d better be all calmed down before I get back.” She warned, before whirling around and walking back out with the same fast pace she had since she woke me up. I tried to say something, but my throat closed up and I shrunk back into the wall.
I’m so scared, and I just want Detective to get me already. I just wanna go home and hide in my blankets and get the stupid damn collar off, and not be hurt or called “puppy” or “mutt” or anything, why did I have to be here? I didn’t do anything, I always stayed with Detective and I never went after villains or heroes or anyone, I’ve never done anything, why am I the one getting hurt? I just wanna go home and hide in my blanket nest with Detective nearby like before, please…
I sniffled, glancing around the rest of the room. There was a shelf with hooks underneath that had a wire muzzle and another harness to the left of the door. Next to it, farther from the door, was a large wooden cabinet which was a dark grey. Lots of things are dark grey in this place, which is weird. Makes everything dark and gloomy, and I don’t like it. There’s a box of dog toys near the right wall, and I frown at it. I hate being treated like a dog, I’m not an animal. It makes me feel sick and scared and stupid, and I wanna yell at them to stop but everyone else is stronger than me and I don’t wanna get hurt any more. Detective woulda noticed I’m gone by now, so he’ll be looking for me, right? Or the heroes, they would notice I’m gone and look for me, but why haven’t they come yet then? The heroes and Detetive always work together to find people, and they’re doing the same for me… Right?
I bit my lip, shaking my head. They have to come for me, they wouldn’t ever leave me here. I glanced down at the chain connected to my collar, fiddling with the latch part. It had a normal latch part, but it just wouldn’t move or do anything. I huffed, before rubbing at my face and plopping down to the floor. I sat with my legs crossed, rocking back and forth idly while looking closer at the dog cage. It had a thin pink blanket on the inside, but on the top of the cage there was a black blanket, covering the entire thing except for the door. It looked like it was for really big dogs, but I dunno if I wanna ever go in there, cuz it has a padlock on the door, and I hate being locked in things. I always feel like I’m back in the freezer again, and it scares me so much and makes me wanna cry or scream. The dog bed is one of the soft, fluffy ones that pet stores always have, and it looks like it would be nice to lay in if I wasn’t being treated like a stupid little dog. I huff again, before clicking my tongue just for some noise. The only thing I can hear is the buzz of the lights and my breathing, and that feels way too quiet. I keep rocking back and forth, but I speed up cuz it feels like I have electricity in my veins and I can’t roll around or spin so I haveta settle for rocking. It’s fun, though, and I don’t feel really, really panicky anymore.
“Oh? Good boy, puppy. You’re such a good boy, being quiet and calm, aren’t you? Does the good boy want a treat? Yeah, you want a treat, boy?” Seren called, and I jerked up to stare at her.
“I- I’m not a dog!” I snapped, trying to ignore how shaky and quiet I was.
“Now now, puppy, I know this is a big change for you, so I’ll let that slide just this once. I know you have trouble learning new things, so I’ll be nice, okay? We have all the time in the world for you to learn your place, after all.”
“That- Hey! I’m not, I’m not a stupid dog. I don’t- what do you even mean by ‘learning my place’? You can’t, you can’t treat me like this, it isn’t-”
“Nope, stopping you right there. I can treat you however I like, because there is no one to stop me, and if I say you’re a dog, then You. Are. A. Dog. I am your trainer, and you will obey everything I say. You aren’t a person, you aren’t important, you do not get to make demands. My word is law, and if you don’t treat it as such, then I’m taking away your speaking privileges, because a mutt like you sure as hell doesn’t need to talk to obey. Do you understand me?” Seren spat, stalking over angrily, glaring at me.
“I- wait, please, I didn’t- I just-”
“Do. You. Understand. Me.” She snarled, and I shrunk down, shoving into the wall.
I nodded my head rapidly, turning my head away and staring at her boots. She stood over me, before crouching down and grabbing my jaw, forcing me to make eye contact. I stared at the wall behind her instead.
“Hm. We need to curb that backtalk, don’t we? Well, I guess it’s not entirely your fault, puppy. I knew you were stupid, but I guess I have to state things extra clearly just for you, huh? That’s my fault, I suppose. But you do need to be punished, so we’re goin’ to get a special little collar for you, puppy. And you did so good before you opened your mouth, too.”
I clamped my jaw shut, desperate not to anger her further. Seren walked over to the shelf to grab the extra collar, which looked like one of those bark collars people use to shut their dogs up. I flinched as she brought it closer, trying to cover my neck with my arms.
“Wait, wait, wait, I didn’t, please, I don’t- I’m sorry, please, I’ll be quiet, please, I- wait, Seren-”
“No, you were a bad dog. Bad dogs need to get punished. And it’s Mistress to you, mutt. Don’t make me shock you again.” She stated, wrapping the bark collar just above the first.
I tried to grab her hands, but she just shoved them to the side and wrapped the collar super tight until I stopped. She moved the spikes to the side of my neck, pulling it until they dug painfully into my neck. She clicked the collar closed, then tugged at it lightly. After making sure it wasn’t too loose she sat back, crouching in front of me.
“There we go. I need to order a custom collar now, you know that? I don’t fancy needing two collars just to keep you quiet. Whatever. Let’s just continue with your training, okay, puppy? We can start with ‘place’, that should be easy enough for you. Alright boy, go place!”
Seren snapped her fingers and pointed at the dog bed, backing up a couple of steps. I frowned, not moving from my spot. She sighed, before repeating the command. I chewed on my cheek and glared at the floor near her feet.
“Okay. Maybe ‘place’ is a little too hard for you right now. Is that it? You’re just a stupid little puppy, aren’t you? My poor, dumb puppy, you must be so confused. Don’t worry, I’ll give you what you need, pup. We can work on ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘come’ until you understand.” Seren said, reaching back to grab the bag of chocolates.
“I’m-” I choked on air as the collar went off, slamming my head against the wall when I jerked back. I yanked on the bark collar, trying to pull it off. Seren watched, before laughing and shaking her head. I bit my lip, nearly drawing blood and tried not to make any more sounds. I felt my face heating up in humiliation, and glared at Seren. She just raised her eyebrow at me.
“That must’ve hurt, puppy. Now, come here, boy. Come.” Seren patted her thigh, shaking the bag of chocolates at me. I hesitated for a minute, then slowly got up and walked towards her, the chain pulling taut.
“There we go, good boy! That wasn’t too hard, was it? Here’s your treat, puppy.” Seren praised, holding out the chocolate for me. I tried to grab it with my hands, but she pulled back. “Uh-Uh, nope. Dogs eat with their mouths, puppy, I thought you knew that. Open up, boy.”
I glared at her, but eventually opened my mouth and she dropped it in. The flavor helps make me feel better, but I also kinda hate it now that I haveta act like a dog to get it.
“Atta boy, puppy! Sit, boy, sit. Okay, on your knees, back straight. There you go, good boy, good puppy.” Seren dropped another treat, and it didn’t taste as good as before. I stared at the floor while she continued to praise me, and I ignored the urge to scratch at my arms, and started wringing my hands instead.
“Wait, I can’t just keep calling you ‘puppy’. You need an actual name, but I don’t think Ghost fits. Hmmm, maybe…” Hey, Ghost is the best name! And you can’t just change my name anyways, I’m still a person, you’re just a weird, mean creep.
“How about Arlo? It’s one of those ditzy names, so it’ll suit you fine. Yeah, Arlo it is.” She walked over to the side, then patted her thighs again. “Arlo, come! Here boy!”
I bristled, and decided to glare at my lap instead. She repeated the command a couple more times, before sighing and muttering something to herself. Suddenly, my collar lit up, burning my throat and I yelped, setting off the bark collar too. I screeched again, before biting my cheeks to keep myself quiet. Tears blurred my vision as I sat hunched over, trying not to make anymore sounds as the pain faded.
“That’s what happens when you disobey, puppy. Come here, Arlo, come.” Seren held the remote, ready to press the button again. I blinked back tears and moved towards her. She dropped the chocolate on the floor this time, and I stared at it, trying to figure out what she was doing.
“Go on, eat it. You wanted a treat, did you not? Eat. It.”
I just stared, before realizing what she meant and felt humiliation and dread rip through my body, coiling in my chest. I took a step back, shaking my head. Seren just sighed, and held the remote up again. I flinched and ground my teeth together, waiting for the burning pain, snapping my eyes shut so tears wouldn’t escape.
“Who the hell is calling me now?! Fine. Arlo, sit!” Seren snapped, yanking out her ringing phone and answering it before I registered what she said. I dropped down so she wouldn’t change her mind about using the remote while on a call.
“I’m busy, what do you want?... What do you- How in the fresh hell does that happen? Fine, I’m on my way just give me a minute. Just started training a new dog.” She yanked me up by my arm, pulling me towards the dog cage, and unlatched the chain with a weird motion I didn’t get to memorize before she shoved me down to the floor in front of the cage. She undid the padlock, and motioned towards the cage.
“Get in your cage, Arlo. Now.” I flinched away from the door, but she just growled wordlessly to herself. “I said, Get. In. If I have to force you in there, I’m goin’ to shock you until you pass out, get. in. there.”
I held back a whimper at her anger, before slowly crawling in the cage. It was cramped and I couldn’t keep my back straight or my head up. I wriggled to turn around, barely managing it. Seren slammed the door and padlocked it, before dropping the rest of the blanket over the door, leaving me in the dark. I felt my breathing stutter, and scrunched my eyes closed to try and ignore how much this felt like the freezer. I felt tears leak down my face, and wrapped my arms around myself. I feel like I’m back in the freezer, but the only difference is that it’s actually warm in here. I really, really want Detective now, why hasn’t he gotten me already? …He hasn’t left me here, has he? I dug my nails into my arms, trying to ignore the fear crawling around my heart. Detective will get me. He always does…

Note
Arvin x reader fic with them doing just simple, domestic things maybe and Arvin being whipped and soft towards the reader.
A/N: Domestic stuff with Arvin? I live for this concept. Hope you enjoy 💕💕
Warnings: Swearing, suggestive content.
When people ask you what it's like to be married to Arvin Russell, most people don't believe it until they see it, especially not the women married to the men Arvin works with.
Arvin Russell is one of the softest men you'd ever met, he would literally do anything for you, he treated you like you were made of glass, unless of course you're talking bedroom Arvin.
You were having a BBQ at your house, it was your first 'house party' since being married.
"Here." Arvin said as he reached above you, grasping what you'd been trying to reach. Handing it to you with a kiss to the cheek before wandering off.
"Who's that and what have they done with Arvin?" Molly asked, she was married to his boss.
"What? Arvin's always helpful." You were quick to defend your recent husband.
"Yeah but it usually comes with a grumble of some sort, a 'fuck' thrown in here and there." She laughed.
"He's not that bad." You defended with a laugh.
"You should count yourself lucky, my husband would have watched me struggle for that." She laughed.
"Not Arvin."
**
Arvin groaned as he slung his bag down in the corridor of the house, seeking you out instantly. He found you where he knew he would, in the kitchen, making dinner. He smiled fondly at the sight in front of him. Your hair was a mess, a clear sign you'd just woken up. You had flour all over you, forehead, dress, hair, you name it.
"Flour bomb gone off?" Arvin asked, the stress of the day washing away as soon as he saw you. You whipped around as you looked at him hand on your chest.
"Arvin! I never heard you come in." You said with a laugh, relieved it was just your husband.
"What happened?" Arvin asked with a light laugh, approaching you.
"Well, I accidently took a nap and got up late to make dinner." You giggled as Arvin wiped some of the flour off your cheek. "Then I couldn't reach the flour so I used the spatula to help me get it down and well..." You trailed off as you gestured towards yourself.
Arvin couldn't help but laugh. You were clumsy that was for damn sure but he loved that about you. Gave him a goddamn heart attack sometimes when you'd trip over your own two feet but he loved it, loved you.
"You couldn't have waited until I got home?" Arvin asked as he pressed a kiss to your lips.
"No, then dinner would be late." You laughed as his hand wandered down to grasp your backside.
"I wouldn't have minded." He said as he pulled you closer for a passionate kiss. The timer you'd set making you both jump as you panicked over getting whatever pie you were making into the oven.
"Okay, that needs half an hour and then ready, so I'm not too late." You grinned as you wiped some flour off your forehead.
"So you can join me in the shower then?" Arvin said as he pulled you close to him again.
"Arvin Rusell," you said as you swatted his shoulder as you giggled when he pressed kisses to your neck.
"Y/N Russell you have two minutes to get in that shower before I throw you over my shoulder and take you there." Arvin said as he sucked on your sweet spot, a sigh of pleasure leaving your lips.
"I wouldn't mind you carrying me." You teased.
"Of course you wouldn't." Arvin laughed as he picked you up, legs around his waist as he held you up by your thighs before making his way to the shower.
**
You'd driven into the garage Arvin worked in, in a panic. Your car was making a strange noise so you'd brought it to were he worked.
"Arvin!" You shouted as you climbed out of the car and the men he worked with watched in amazement as the man had a near heart attack.
"Doll! Jesus christ you scared the shit out of me. Are you okay?" He asked as he approached you, bringing you to his chest, he feared something had happened to you or someone had hurt you.
"Sorry, my car is making strange noises. Can you please have a look at it?" You asked and Arvin instantly relaxed that you weren't in any immediate danger.
"Of course my love." Arvin said softly as he ran a hand through your hair. The boys in utter shock as they watched Arvin place a kiss to your forehead, they'd never seen him so soft.
**
"Arvin, get up!" You said as you threw a pillow at him.
"Get in." Arvin argued back, letting the pillow bounce of his frame and onto the floor as he lifted the duvet.
"No, you said you'd help me deep clean this house, now up." You said again, this time more firm.
"You're far to chirpy for whatever time it is." Arvin grumbled back as you laughed.
"Arv, please?" You begged as you got onto the bed, huge mistake as Arvin pulled you into his side, his strength far surpassing your own.
"Five more minutes and then I'll help." He argued as he snuggled into you, you instantly gave in.
"Fine, five minutes." You argued before you heard his soft snores reach your ears.
**
You were attempting to make a cake, Arvin was not helping. You giggled as he placed his finger that was full of cake mix onto your nose.
"Arvin, it goes in the tin and then in the oven." You laughed as he licked the batter off your nose. "Arvin, that is disgusting." You laughed more.
"Oh please, you say it like I don't lick your-"
"Okay, okay, I get it." You laughed as you swatted his shoulder. He laughed as a mischievous grin spread across your lips. You reached for the flour bag that was on the side, taking a hand full before blowing it in Arvin's face.
"Oh you are in for it now." Arvin laughed as he took the flour bag and poured it over your head.
"Arvin!" You laughed as you tried to dust the flour off you. "It's everywhere!" You said in disbelief, watching as more flour fell to the floor.
"I'll help you clean the floor," he grinned.
"You better, Arvin." You laughed as you poured sugar into his hair, watching as he laughed and shook his head, sugar mixing with the flour that was now coating the floor.
"Looks like it's snowed in here." Arvin laughed as he looked at the ground.
**
"You are so whipped for your wife." His boss laughed after he'd just watched Arvin carry you for seemingly no reason into the garden before placing you on your feet and in front of your friends before kissing the back of your hand and making his way towards his boss.
"Whipped?" Arvin questioned.
"Yeah, the shit you do for her, jesus christ, I wouldn't do half of it." His boss laughed and Arvin found himself somewhat confused, his boss wouldn't do the same?
"You wouldn't?" Arvin found himself asking.
"No, I bring all the money home, she looks after the house. You need to realise that Arvin. You bring the money home, the house? That's her responsibility. You should be able to just relax." His boss had watched him help you with everything this evening.
"I just try and give her what she deserves." Arvin mumbled, he was pissed with his boss, he had no idea the extent that the love between the two of you went.
"You bring her money home, what more can she need? Maybe a kid but after that? Your jobs done." His boss clapped him on the back.
Arvin remained silent, his boss was a misogynistic prick. You deserved the world and more, you did more for him than his boss would ever understand, you gave him all the love in the world, more than he deserved and he returned it.
He didn't care if it made him look whipped or like a soft arse, he'd happily knock some teeth out to prove he wasn't a push over. Well, not unless it came to you, he'd do anything for you, he'd move the world if you asked him to. But you'd given him something he'd not had in a long time, a place he felt loved, a place he could feel vulnerable and completely happy.
People didn't believe that the cynical, grumpy and occasional violent Arvin Russell could be so soft with you, not until they saw it for their own eyes. But it was true, Arvin Russell was incredibly soft and domestic for you.

Double edged scalpel ch.5
Tumblr media
Ch.1 Ch.2 Ch.3 Ch.4
Summary: someone please give Nicole a break for the love of Miranda. And there be smut y'all
---
Seeing Cassandra's softer side made something flutter within Nicole's chest. The brunette was a sadist through and through. Witness to that fact was the array of torture devices that littered the dungeons. Not to mention the prisoners she frequently killed, only to haul them on the autopsy tables in her study to be examined, chopped and sectioned by the both of them.
But there was an uncharacteristic sort of gentleness in the way their lips slid against each other, sharp teeth occasionally biting down on Nicole's lower lip but never enough to draw blood. In the way Cassandra would drag sharp nails against flushed skin, but not go beyond the pleasurable amount of pain. Even the glint in golden eyes when Nicole went over some old notes of hers on more tricky anatomy concepts. Having an exclusive look at this side of Cassandra felt beyond intimate and the thought almost made her miss when the brunette spoke from where she was leaning over a notebook.
"Okay let's just wrap this up, I have plans."
Nicole hummed, dropping the liver she was holding in a freezer bag. Most body parts were already bagged and ready to be picked up by Cynthia and her undercooks, they were just putting into practice some things the brunette was curious about. She dropped the now blood soaked leather gloves in the sink and went to sit by Cassandra, who was scribbling some final notes.
"In that case I'll go enjoy a cup of tea," she sighed. "Tea that I had to skip because someone was eager to start on this early."
Cassandra raised an eyebrow at her, accompanied by her usual smirk. "I meant plans with you."
Oh? That was new. The brunette laughed at Nicole's wide eyed expression and snapped her notebook shut. She took her sweet time putting it on the shelf with the others and checking the time, pretending not to notice the redhead's inquisitive expression. Then, she lifted Nicole’s chin with a thankfully not covered in blood finger.
"Don't get me wrong I love it here but," she grimaced, "it gets stuffy sometimes. Especially in summer."
Well, that much was true. The undergrounds of the castle were oddly warm, although not downright hot, compared to what one would expect from a castle. Pair that with the annoyingly humid atmosphere and having to wear a leather apron and gloves so as to not completely ruin your outfit and you got the perfect recipe for discomfort. She really ought to ask Cassandra about installing some kind of better ventilation down here.
"Meet me in the attic in about… an hour." She leaned down and their mouths were so close that Nicole could feel icy breath on her lips.
The attic? She's never been to the attic, it was not only off limits for most staff but also dangerous if rumors were to be believed. Not that she had the clarity of mind to voice any concerns when Cassandra finally leaned in to kiss her, complete with a nip on her lower lip that made Nicole’s breath hitch.
---
The fact that Nicole had no idea how to get to the attic could be a slight problem. She had asked Anita, but not only did she not know, she also seemed mortified by the idea. Another maid just gave her vague directions to look for a ladder on the top floor. As if that wasn't like trying to find the needle in a haystack. Or the needle in a giant castle.
She was just wandering around the top floor, praying not to stumble upon anyone who would be less than thrilled to see her there. A sigh of relief escaped past her lips when she heard familiar buzzing and steps coming towards her.
"Oh Cas-" she swallowed her words when she noticed red hair spilling from underneath a black hood.
"Nicole! What are you doing here hmm?" Her inquisitive hum was way too exaggerated the same way her fangs seemed too sharp when she grinned.
"I was just looking for Ca- lady Cassandra. She asked me to meet her in the attic."
Daniela's mouth fell open, almost forming an O shape. Then back to her characteristic giggle, almost as if laughing at a joke only she knew.
"What, you don't know how to get there?"
"...Not really," she sheepishly admitted.
And that was a mistake. Nicole would've preferred to wander the hallways until Cassandra eventually got bored enough of waiting and decided to come see where her glorified lab partner was. But her plan was ruined by Daniela wordlessly grabbing her arm and pulling her in the opposite direction she was going in. She even went the extra mile to partially turn into a swarm, which made Nicole's panic skyrocket. She didn't mind bugs. But having hundreds of them fly all around you, accompanied by manic giggling was a whole other thing.
Before she knew it though, Daniela let go of her arm, laughing a little at Nicole's stumbling. She gestured dramatically towards a ladder and said:
"There you go. Say hi to Cassie for me."
"Th- thank you my lady." And with a small bow of the head she grabbed the ladder and started ascending on shaky legs.
"And enjoy your date," she called out, once Nicole was at the top of the stairs.
Blushing, she decided to ignore the comment and start looking for the sister less likely to turn her into fly food.
The attic looked… old. It was obvious that people didn't come here often, although someone probably did clean it regularly as there were no cobwebs nor dirt on any surfaces, aside from some dust. It was full of neatly arranged boxes and crates, their contents as mysterious as the castle's inhabitants. Tentative steps took her across ancient floorboards, navigating old rooms.
"Rah!"
Nicole damn near jumped out of her skin, a string of curses spilling past her lips. "Jesus fucking christ Cassandra!"
The brunette only laughed, hands on her knees and pretending to wipe a tear from her eye.
"That's what you get for making me wait for so long."
"I didn't even know where the attic entrance was! Good thing one of your sisters came to my rescue." Nicole rolled her eyes at the last word.
Cassandra stopped laughing, eyes narrowing slightly. "Which one?"
"Uh- Danie-"
"Did she hurt you?" Cassandra grabbed her arms, golden eyes looking for any visible injuries.
Nicole just laughed softly, taken off guard by the display of concern. "No, no. Just gave me a bit of a fright, that's all."
With an eye roll, Cassandra guided her further into the attic, through more dusty rooms, until they reached a short corridor, light spilling from its other end. The room they entered was relatively small, almost half of it occupied by stacked boxes as if it used to be a storage room like the rest of the attic and nobody bothered to completely clear it out. A few pieces of furniture were also present: a couch with a coffee table in front of it and paintings leaning against a wall to collect dust. This room however had a window, left slightly ajar, that allowed you to see the mountains stretching on the horizon, crowned by the beautiful orange hues of dusk.
Nicole moved to the glass to take in the view, mouth almost hanging open, when an ungodly screech from outside made her backpedal straight into Cassandra.
"What the fuck was that?" She asked, eyes widening at the sight of flying creatures circling the towers.
"Mother's flying guard dogs."
"They sound the same way I'd imagine the souls of the damned do." Nicole didn’t take her eyes off the ghoulish creatures, almost as if keeping eye contact would dissuade them from attacking.
Cassandra just shrugged. "Wouldn't be too far off. Also here." She sat on the couch, gesturing towards a cup.
Nicole went to sit by her side, grabbing the mystery cup. She frowned slightly when the steam reached her nose, bringing with it a pleasant minty and honey aroma.
"Tea?"
"Since you were so disheartened about having to skip it earlier," Cassandra averted her eyes, seemingly finding the curtains very interesting.
After a long sip, she let out a content sigh. The warmth was more than welcomed, despite the weather. She set the cup back on the table and turned her attention on the brunette, now fidgeting with the corner of a pillow.
"Thank you," Nicole said, leaving a small kiss on her cheek.
Cassandra smiled and turned around, locking their lips in a kiss that at first mimicked her gentleness, but soon turned hungry when dainty hands made their way to the brunette's nape, pulling her closer. She shifted them both, pushing Nicole down on the pillows littering the couch, until she was laying on top of her, legs on each side of her waist. Her focus was on leaving a trail of nips and kisses down Nicole's neck when the redhead jumped and barely stifled a yelp at another screech from outside.
"Ugh what the fuck is today, scare me out of my mind day?"
"How are you scared of these but countless dead bodies don't phase you?" Cassandra laughed, sound muffled by her position with her mouth against Nicole's neck.
"I used to work on corpses, not on ugly gargoyles that could chew my face off!" She gestured wildly at the window and the few creatures visible outside.
"You what?"
"You...didn't know?" Nicole couldn't help a giggle at Cassandra's confused expression.
"How was I supposed to know?"
"I thought your mother told you already. Or your sisters," Nicole shrugged.
"They knew?!" And, after something seemed to dawn on her, "Oh I'm gonna kick both their asses."
Nicole couldn’t help letting out a small laugh, placing her hands on Cassandra's cheeks and, with a pout for dramatic effect, "Right now?"
As much as the sight was both funny and endearing, the warmth starting to pool at her core was making her beyond impatient.
The indignation in golden eyes was replaced by an all too familiar glint and black painted lips went back to their work on Nicole's neck. Sharp fangs pierced the skin there, just enough to draw a few drops of blood and a whine. After licking every last bit of it, Cassandra's lips moved to the collarbones and lower, hands slowly starting to undo the buttons of Nicole's pesky uniform that was in the way.
When both the button up and the skirt were discarded on the floor Nicole tangled her fingers through black hair and pulled Cassandra in for a kiss. Her free hand went to the back of the dress, pulling down the zipper and guiding it off of the brunette's shoulders. Once both of them were left only in undergarments, Nicole pulled back to look up at the brunette.
"If I knew I was supposed to dress up I would've asked the chambermaid if there's anything fancy in the uniform stash," she said, taking in the beautifully intricate lace of Cassandra's matching bra and underwear, complete with a giggle at her awful joking.
The brunette only raised an eyebrow. "Mhm I can take care of that. Not like you'll need these for long though." Her hands reached under Nicole's back to unclasp her bra and in mere moments that too was on top of the pile of clothes on the floor.
Then Cassandra bent down to crash their lips together, tongue slipping past Nicole's lips when a wandering hand elicited a gasp from her.
Cassandra was by no means a patient person. Quite the opposite actually. But teasingly dragging her nails across sensitive skin only to feel the girl under her squirm and whine when her hand just won't go where she needed it made waiting all the more sweet. Slender fingers started to toy with the edges of Nicole's underwear. After a groan against her lips and an impatient tug of hair, Cassandra finally gave in, slipping two fingers inside her. She felt Nicole arch into her, a broken moan escaping past her lips when she broke the kiss to let her head fall back into the cushions. Cassandra took that as an opportunity to kiss the length of her neck, occasionally stopping to suck or bite at a spot, enjoying every gasp and moan she drew out of the redhead.
With Cassandra's rough pace it didn't take long before Nicole was clenching her thighs around her hand. Cassandra kissed her, swallowing her moan as she came.
The small room in the attic, Cassandra's drawing room she would later find out, was the perfect secluded spot. They spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other. First evening of many.

Enough Trust for Us Both
I’ve written a new fic, this time it’s Bucky x Reader! Read it on AO3 here.
Word Count: 3.8k
Rating: Explicit (18+)
Contains: fluff and smut, phone sex
You’re going crazy. You are going absolutely insane, and it’s all Bucky’s fault. Stupid, sexy, oblivious Bucky. Sure, you two have the perfect relationship in all other regards. He’s open with you, trusting you to hold him through the night to calm any nightmares, and he keeps you safe. Four months of him hovering behind you like an overprotective parent may have been annoying to some, but you love it. It makes you feel cared for. And you know he loves you, because he says it about forty times a day.
There’s just one tiny, itsy bitsy problem. Bucky won’t touch you. Well, that’s not true. He cuddles you, holds your hand, gives you chaste kisses whenever you do something to make him smile. But he won’t touch you. The kisses never go beyond pecks on the lips, and his hands never wander below your waist. And god dammit, you don't understand why. You’re horny, for fuck’s sake.
You know that you’ve been touchy with him lately, but you can’t help it. The sexual frustration increases tenfold when he grabs your hands with his strong ones, or wraps his fingers around your hips to pull you in for a kiss. You swear your panties are constantly damp around him, and more than a few times you’d had to excuse yourself to go change.
But you haven’t made any moves, scared of being too bold. He’s come so far with you, opened up so much, and you’re afraid that being too forward will scare him off. Still, a girl has needs, and you’re not above dropping a few...hints.
Bucky walks into your apartment with heavy footsteps, nearly slamming the door behind him. You jump, whipping around on the couch to face him, and watch as he winces. “I’m sorry, doll. Sometimes I forget how strong this stupid thing is.” He flexes his metal hand, frowning at the silver digits.
You tsk and shake your head, trying hard to ignore the arousal blooming in your stomach. Every part of him is attractive, you just can’t help but stare. From his shaggy hair, to those absolutely sinful thighs that you want to ride into the sunset. “It’s okay, babe,” you sigh wistfully, then look at him with pleading eyes. “I missed you today, can we go cuddle?” If you can’t get any action, then maybe just some good old fashioned affection would calm your nerves. Doubt it.
With a chuckle, Bucky strides over to the back of the couch with those long legs and leans over to kiss your cheek. “Of course, doll. Just let me go shower first, and I’ll meet you in the bedroom.”
Nearing falling over yourself in your enthusiasm, you give Bucky a winning smile and race to the bedroom, eager to get under the covers and get warm. As you slide into bed, you hear the shower turn on across the hall, and let your mind wander. Bucky’s muscled body fills your head. Tight abs flexing under streams of water, those metal fingers brushing across his skin, soap running down his chest all the way down to his cock. You’ve seen it before, but only once. Bucky had come home run ragged from an intense mission, and had been too tired to argue when you insisted on bathing him yourself. Even with just one glance while he was soft, you could tell Bucky was huge. He was thick, and imagining that inside of you nearly makes you moan out loud.
You’re so caught up in your fantasies that you fail to hear the water stop running, and end up startling again when Bucky enters the room. “Doll, you’re jumpy today,” Bucky says, blue eyes filled with concern. “Is everything okay?”
“I’m great!” You answer a little too quickly, trying to ignore the uncomfortable wetness seeping into your panties. You’re not wearing any pants--you usually don’t, when Bucky’s gone--and you know that Bucky would be able to feel how turned on you are if his hands go anywhere near there. ‘Which they won’t,’ you think to yourself in disappointment.
Bucky eyes you skeptically, thick eyebrows furrowed, while you try not to drool over his still-dripping form. He’s shirtless, wearing only a pair of red and black checkered pajama pants that are just one size too small. If you squint, you can just barely see the outline of his cock pressing against the fabric, and your eyes nearly roll and you realize that he’s probably not wearing underwear. Before you can work yourself up again, Bucky shakes his head at you, accepting your white lie, and gestures for you to slide over. You eagerly oblige, ready for some quality time with your boyfriend.
Despite your innocent act, you have a devious plan in the works. It had come to you the second he walked out of the shower looking irresistible. You’d decided that two could play at that game, and maybe he just needs you to seduce him. It’s bolder than anything you’d typically try, but maybe Bucky just hasn’t realized how badly you want him yet. Well, you were going to make it obvious for him.
When Bucky eases under the covers next to you, you purr happily and guide him onto his back, head resting comfortably in the pillows. You lie on your stomach and swing one leg over his hips, then throw your arm around his shoulder, effectively splaying yourself out on top of him. Bucky huffs out an amused laugh and wraps his human arm around your back. “Miss me that much, huh?” He says, voice soft and low. The weight of his arm feels nice draped across you like that, but you crave more.
You can’t help the shiver that forces its way down your spine at his deep voice speaking so closely to your ear. “Mhm,” you mumble. “Need to feel you.”
Cold, vibranium fingers card through your hair, and you don’t even try to suppress the moan that bubbles up. If you were going to properly seduce Bucky, you couldn’t hold anything back. “Well, I’m here, doll, feel me all you want.” His human hand grips your shoulder possessively, and the message is clear. ‘You’re mine, and I’ll keep you safe.’
At that, your hips rock involuntarily, and you freeze when you realize that the wet spot on your panties has managed to make contact with the bare skin of Bucky’s stomach. That was a little further than you had intended to take this scheme, and you shift away, praying that Bucky hadn’t noticed.
To your dismay, Bucky rockets up from the bed like a cannon, immediately scrambling to the other side of the room like you had burned him. You start to turn away in embarrassment, then notice the wild look in his wide eyes. Bucky’s terrified. But why?
Seeing the bewildered look on your face, Bucky pauses in his frantic movements, then slowly slides down the wall and comes to a rest seated on the floor. His breathing pattern stutters until it settles into the slow and deliberate one his therapist taught him to stifle panic attacks. Regret sinks into your chest like a thick cloud. Christ, you had really messed up this time. “Baby,” you say softly, voice dripping with worry.
Your boyfriend looks up from the carpet, and tries to give you a reassuring smile. “I-I’m, I’m sorry,” he manages. His normally strong voice cracks, and your heart splits. “It’s not you, I just…” He fumbles for the words, and you keep quiet, pulse high while you await his explanation. “Doll, it’s hard enough for me to control myself when you’re all up on me like that, but I’m just a man, and when you-” Bucky shakes his head frantically, eyes dropping back to the floor. “You just can’t be tempting me like, okay, babe?” His head falls into his hands.
Wait, what? Somehow, you’re even more confused. “Bucky, what are you talking about? You don’t have to ‘control yourself,’ I’m your girlfriend. Hell, I’d be upset if you weren’t sexually attracted to me!” Your voice is rising in volume, but you can’t help it. All these months spent taking cold showers, and he wanted to fuck you the whole time? “Jesus, Buck. I was all over you today because I wanted you to lose control. This entire time we’ve been together I just thought, I dunno, that I wasn’t attractive enough for you?” You can’t mask the hurt in your voice.
At that, Bucky’s eyes widen and he raises his head to look back up at you. “Baby doll, no, you’re the sexiest damn thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. I just...I don’t want to hurt you. If I lose control like that and let myself go, who knows what could happen? I could relapse, I could seriously hurt you. You saw when I came inside today! I almost broke your door without meaning to, I can’t put you at risk just for my own pleasure.”
Anger swells up inside of you again, and you rise from the bed to stalk towards Bucky. When you reach his place on the floor, you sink to your knees and stare daggers at him. “Your own pleasure? What about mine? Bucky, this isn’t just about you. I have needs, too.” Bucky looks away in shame, and the guilty expression in his eyes manages to cool your temper. You gently take his face in your hands and pull him to look at you. Now that you’ve come back to yourself, you feel guilty for being selfish. You chew on your lips anxiously. “Hey, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gotten mad like that, I know this isn’t easy for you. But Bucky, if you want me, then I’m yours. I know you won’t hurt me, I trust you.”
Bucky pulls away from you, lips screwed up in a pained frown. “No, I’m sorry. It’s just too dangerous.”
You fall back onto your butt, sighing, and try to think. “Okay, well what if we worked up to it?”
That earns you an intrigued look. “What do you mean?”
“I mean,” you start, mind racing as a plan hatches. “What if we started off with something low risk, like phone sex. You could stay at the Avengers tower, I could stay here. How can you hurt me if we’re on different sides of the city?”
“Phone sex?”
Oh, right. Different era. “It’s where we call each other on the phone and get off together. If you really don’t want to try, you can say no, but you deserve pleasure. We’ve both been stressed lately, this can be a good thing.” You try to keep your tone casual, giving Bucky the chance to relax from the brief argument. You can see the wheels turning in his mind, and though he’d never admit it, his cheeks flush just the slightest bit red.
“Okay,” he whispers, brushing back a piece of stray hair from his face and taking a steadying breath.
Your eyes follow the movement of his hand as what he said sinks in. “Really, you’re okay with it?”
“Yeah,” Bucky replies, making an attempt to smile at you. “Just...can we do this slow? It’s been a long time.” He still looks nervous, and you almost want to back off. To tell him to forget it, that you were just being selfish. But it’s not just you that he’s denying pleasure to. Bucky’s suffering, too, and you know that intimacy would be a huge step forward, so you push on.
You grin brightly at him, then stand, offering your hand to help him up, too. After hesitating for a brief moment, Bucky takes your hand and lets you pull him to his feet. He stands, towering over you, and you realize that you’re so tiny compared to him. His worries absolutely held merit; he could crush you so easily, especially with those rippling muscles that you’re always staring at. But you’re not scared of him, you never have been. Bucky has never been anything but gentle towards you, and you know that even The Winter Soldier would not lay a hand on you. Bucky would never allow that to happen, you trust him.
You just wish he could trust himself that much, too.
It’s been weeks since you and Bucky’s conversation, and you’re beginning to think he’s forgotten about it. That, or he’s just pretending that he doesn’t remember in order to avoid a stressful situation. The latter was probably more likely, and you decide not to push it. Maybe you’d been asking for too much. So you put a lid on your desires, and acted like everything was fine for Bucky’s sake, even as disappointment dampened your moods. And when he left for yet another mission, you began to accept that maybe he just wasn’t ready. You can live with that.
Your phone rings, and you hoist yourself off the couch, pausing the movie you’d been watching to trudge over to your phone. When Bucky was away on missions, calls were never anything good. He’d usually send texts to reassure you that things were going well, but he always saved bad news for phone calls. It was a nice gesture, but it just made you associate them with misery.
Steeling yourself, you click ‘answer,’ and force out a cheerful greeting despite the anxiety twisting your stomach.
“Hey, doll.” Bucky’s voice is gruff, and he sounds exhausted. Your hands twitch, wanting to reach for him.
“Hi,” you reply. “Everything going okay?”
A groan floats through the speaker, and you sigh, knowing that your instincts were correct. “I wish, it looks like I’ll have to stay another night in this stupid safe house. We think our cover might’ve been blown and Stark wants to lay low before trying to extract me.” You can hear the apology in Bucky’s tone; he doesn’t need to say it.
You want to scream and throw your phone. Another night away from your lover, spent lying awake worrying that this time he wouldn’t make it home safe. Another night of counting the seconds until he’s back in your arms, and you can kiss away the stress of his mission. You knew what you were signing up for, dating an Avenger, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t hard sometimes. Still, you need to keep it together. For Bucky. “It’s okay, just stay safe, alright? I need you to come back to me in one piece.”
Bucky mumbles his assent, and you hear shuffling on the other end, presumably him getting more comfortable. You do the same, and make your way back to the couch so you can sit down and talk to him. “At least it’s just me here,” Bucky says. “This would be a hell of a lot more irritating if I had to put up with Sam’s chatter for another day.”
With a snort, you flop onto the couch and lean back. “Don’t be too hard on him, he means well.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Bucky grumbles. He pauses, and you hear a shaky inhale before he speaks again. “What’re you wearing?”
Your eyebrows shoot up. Well, this was unexpected. “One of your shirts, why?”
“No pants?”
“You know me, pants are kind of against my moral code.”
Bucky chuckles on the other line while you wonder where this is going. “Yeah, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.” Another pause. “Which panties do you have on?”
Oh. Oh. Your heart speeds up in excitement as you start to realize what’s going on. “Buck, are you wanting to…?” You don’t finish your sentence, letting your silence speak for itself.
“Um, I think so. If you don’t mind?” Bucky says, voice rising a bit in pitch as it tends to do when he gets nervous.
You’re quick to reassure him, not wanting to screw this up when you’ve been dreaming about it for months. “Yes, yeah!” You blurt out. “I just wanted to make sure we were both on the same page here.” You tug at your bottom lip with your teeth while you think about how you want this to go. “Hold on, lemme move to the bedroom.”
“Okay.” Bucky’s voice has gotten raspier, and it sends a gush of arousal into your panties. You rush to the bedroom, legs more than a little shaky from excitement.  You hop onto the bed and settle back into the pillows, putting your phone on speaker and setting it beside you on the sheets. “You still haven’t told me which panties you’ve got on,” Bucky prompts, sounding a little unsure.
“The black ones,” you answer. “They’re the ones that have the lacing around my ass.”
Bucky growls his appreciation at your response. “Those are my favorite.” You beam. Now that he’s finally expressing his attraction to you, you feel like the sexiest woman in the world.
“Your turn to tell me what you’re wearing.” Your fingers tug at the hem of your underwear, itching to dive inside and start touching yourself. But you wait patiently, wanting to take things slow like Bucky had asked.
“Just my briefs. The dark blue ones that you said look nice,” Bucky says. He goes quiet, and you remember that phone sex was a foreign concept to him just a few weeks ago. You can picture his uncertain expression. His eyes always narrowed in a cute little squint, and his lips would purse in a way that made you want to kiss him breathless.
Taking the lead, you shimmy your panties down your legs until they’re completely off. “I’m taking my underwear off now. Do you want to touch yourself?”
Bucky inhales sharply. “Yeah.”
“Do it. I will, too.” You bring your fingers down to your dripping pussy, absently wondering if you should’ve laid down a towel before starting. It’s too late now, though. You slide one finger across your folds, humming softly at the pleasure.
There’s rustling on the other end, and you close your eyes to imagine Bucky pulling down his briefs, thick cock springing free. You think about running your tongue up the leaking head, and your core cramps involuntarily.
“Doll…” Bucky breathes. You hear a slick sound--did he always bring lube with him on missions?-- and then a steady rhythm of slow strokes.
“Does it feel good?” You ask, and bring your thumb up to rub at your clit. A small whimper escapes your throat. There’s no reason to try to stay quiet; this is for Bucky, and you want him to hear that you’re enjoying yourself.
“Y-yeah,” he grits out. “Tell me what you’re doing.”
“I’m touching my clit, wishing it was your fingers on me. I wanna touch you so bad.” There’s a whine to your voice, and your fingers speed up.
“I wish I was there,” Bucky says. “Fuck, I bet you look so good right now. I don’t even know how many times I’ve gotten off to the thought of licking that pretty pussy.”
A gasp tears its way from your throat. You never knew Bucky had such a mouth on him, and you briefly think about how many girls he’d talked out of their skirts before the war. You turn your head to the side, burying your nose in Bucky’s shirt and inhale deeply. His scent makes you dizzy with need, and you abandon your clit to dip two fingers into yourself. There’s no need for preparation—you’re soaked—and you easily slide the digits past your opening to reach the most sensitive spots. “I’ve got two fingers inside me now,” you moan. “Wishing they were yours.”
The strokes on the other end speed up, and Bucky curses. “Shit, doll. You’re driving me crazy, here.”
Bucky’s moans are the hottest thing you’ve heard in your entire life. Nights spent fantasizing about how he’d sound in bed didn’t even come close to the real thing. His ragged pants on the other end of the line have you edging closer and closer to your orgasm, and you begin to ramble mindlessly. “Bucky, baby, I need to feel you. I want you here with me, I wanna watch you cum.”
“You know we can’t--”
“I don’t care,” you whine. “I’ll use Stark’s handcuffs to keep you restrained, you can’t hurt me if you’re all tied up. Please, baby, I just need you.” You know that you’re rambling, but you don’t care, it feels too good. Your fingers move faster and faster, chasing your high.
A startled moan echoes through your speaker. “Oh, fuck, stop talking. Please, I can’t--” Bucky’s voice is tight, strangled, but it only encourages you to push him further.
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you? Being tied up while I ride you?”
That’s the last straw for Bucky. The rhythm of his strokes stutters, then comes to an abrupt halt as he chokes out a high pitched whine of your name. Hearing his orgasm pushes you into your own, and you claw at the sheets with your free hand. Bucky’s name tumbling from your lips while your hips arch up into your hand, everything clenching and then releasing into bliss.
You lie in silence for a few minutes, your breathing mixing in with Bucky’s as you both come down. Finally, you break the silence, feeling a bit embarrassed now that pleasure’s no longer clouding your judgement. “I-I’m sorry. I got a little carried away.”
“What?” Bucky replies. “No, that was, that was really good. Were you serious about wanting to try restraining me?”
You swallow tightly. To be honest, it was kind of a spur of the moment fantasy, born from reckless pleasure. “Uh, only if you want. I definitely should’ve cleared it with you before bringing it up.”
Bucky is quick to reassure you. “No, doll. At the moment, I only really saw it as a hot fantasy, but now that I’m thinking about it...it could actually work.”
You sit up in bed, not able to believe your ears. God, you aren’t even sure if you’d be able to handle that kind of control over Bucky. You might just melt the second you lay eyes on him. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Bucky says. “We’d have to use something that could hold me, but I’d feel better about not hurting you if I was handcuffed.”
A dizzying rush of excitement washes over you. “Fuck, okay. Let’s talk about it more when you get back, yeah? You need to focus on getting home safe.”
“You’re right. Thank you for being patient with me, I know you could easily find some guy you didn’t have to jump through all these hoops for.” Bucky’s laugh is self deprecating, and you shush him.
“Shut up, you’re perfect. I’d jump through as many hoops as it takes to call you mine for the rest of my life.” And you really would. You’re head over heels for this man, and it isn’t just the post-nut bliss talking. “Just come back home to me and I’ll show you just how much I’m willing to do you.” You pause. “For you. Do for you.”
This time, the chuckle that Bucky lets out is genuine, and your heart swells. “Okay, doll. I’ll be home in a day or two and you can do me all you’d like.”

Bees and Daisies
Hello!! It's me again :D You guys seemed to really enjoy that last mcyt fic I made with Wilbur and Tommy (I may be working on a part 2...)
Sooooo have this in the meantime! I wrote this instead of sleeping so please be kind I was very tired
Word Count: 2,041
Warnings: None
This is a SFW tickle fic, if you don’t like that then don’t read :)
Enjoy lovelies 💙
Tubbo fell back onto the grass with a heavy sigh, stretching his arms back then letting them fall back above his head.
"Man, I'm dead."
"Same" Tommy groaned next to him, arm over his eyes to block the sun. "God why did we think staying up till 4 last night was a good idea?"
"Cause we're both idiots" Tubbo replied.
Tommy lazily swung at him with his hand, nowhere near hitting Tubbo. "Fuck you I'm an intellectual."
Tubbo giggled. "Debatable."
"Rude" Tommy grumbled but was too tired to really argue. He sunk further into the grass, the warmth only adding to his sleepy mood. "Ya know, taking a break from streaming for a week was the best damn decision we've ever made."
Tubbo hummed in agreement. "Having you over for the week was the best decision we've ever made."
Tommy grinned. "Can't argue with that."
Tubbo rolled onto his stomach, resting his head on his arms. They lay in a comfortable silence for awhile.
Tubbo suddenly gasped. "Tommy don't move, whatever you do, do not move."
Tommy froze. "What? Tubbo, what is it? Tubbo?"
Tubbo's eyes lit up with his smile. "There's a bee on you!"
Panic briefly gripped Tommy. "Fucken what-?! Wave it off!"
"No!" Tubbo shot back firmly, "he's just chilling, I'm not going to get rid of him!"
"Tubbo can I move my arm at least so I can see him?"
"Okay, just be slow."
Knowing how much bees meant to the brunette beside him, Tommy carefully shifted his arm off of his eyes, blinking at the brightness. His eyes lowered to his torso and he tensed up. A bumblebee sat calmly on his stomach, antenna shifting with the breeze.
Tommy stared at the fuzzy critter, flicking his eyes over to his friend. "It's fucken huge Tubbo."
"He's beautiful" Tubbo interrupted him firmly. "Don't be rude."
"It's not like he understands me-"
"Yes he does."
Tommy once again couldn't be bothered arguing. He kept his eyes on the bumblebee as it calmly sat on his shirt, beginning to wash it's face.
Okay it was kinda cute.
Tommy slowly let himself lay back, the bee barely reacted to his movements.
"Gonna name it or some shit?" Tommy found himself asking after a moment.
"Already have" Tubbo replied, resting his head back on his arms and watching the bee with half lidded eyes.
"And?"
"Honeypuffs."
"Jesus christ" Tommy sighed heavily but couldn't stop the smile crossing his face. "That is so dumb."
"Think you could come up with a better name?"
"Pogchamp" Tommy replied without hesitation.
Tubbo laughed softly. "You would."
"Obviously."
The bee shifted around, waddling up to Tommy's chest making him tense again.
"Tubbo what do we do if he stings me?"
"We freak out and after you're killed by Honeypuffs, I'll hold you a funeral."
"What-?!"
"I'll invite Wilbur and Phil, Techno as well-"
"Tubbo shut up-"
"Maybe Dream would like to come too-"
"Tubbo he's getting really close now-"
"Sapnap and George would probably come if Dream did, it would be pretty cool to meet all of them-"
"Tubbo-"
"Ooooo what if we got Niki to come too-!"
"Tubbo help me for fucks sake!"
Tubbo laughed, "alright alright, relax."
He gently picked a nearby daisy and held it out to the bumblebee. "Come on Honeypuffs, get on the flower, you're scaring Tommy."
"I'm not scared-!"
"Yes you are shut up, come on Honeypuffs."
The bumblebee paused looking at the flower for a moment then crawled closer to Tommy who definitely didn't shriek in response.
"Tubbo! Get it off!"
Tubbo laughed again. "Just calm down Toms, you're fine."
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Tommy yelled, voice rising naturally.
"YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DIE!" Tubbo half shouted back, voice raising to match Tommy's on instinct. "RELAX!"
Honeypuffs had reached the collar of Tommy's shirt and was now starting the climb up Tommy's face.
Tommy screwed his eyes shut, hands clenching the grass. "Tubbo, get it off right fucking now."
"Tommy chill" Tubbo snickered, pushing the daisy close to Honeypuffs again, "he's literally doing nothing."
"Yes he is! He's bloody terrorizing me-"
Tubbo paused. "Oh so you are scared then?"
Tommy turned to glare at Tubbo and instantly regretted it when he saw the shit eating grin on his best friend's face. He growled, turning away. "Shut the fuck up and just get him off."
Tubbo laughed. He eventually gave up with the daisy and held out the back of his hand to Honeypuffs. The bumblebee instantly walked onto his fingers, crawling up to his knuckles and settling down. Tubbo took the bee away from Tommy, laying back down on his stomach.
Without the bee on him, Tommy instantly sat up to glare down at Honeypuffs. "Fuck you" he growled at the small thing.
Tubbo gasped at Tommy. "Tommy! Apologize right now."
"No, this twat was freaking me out, I'm allowed to say that."
Tubbo sat up, being careful not to jostle Honeypuffs. He glared at Tommy for a moment then sighed and stood up. He went over to a rose bush and gently lowered Honeypuffs onto it.
"Wait here bud" he said gently then turned to Tommy and his whole aura changed.
His eyes narrowed and he approached Tommy slowly. "Sure you're not gonna aoplogize?"
Tommy held his head higher defiantly. "Yes."
"You're funeral."
Tubbo tackled Tommy to the grass making the younger yell out in alarm. "Tubbo! What the fuck?!"
It was probably the sleep deprivation making Tommy easy to take down, or Tubbo was really determined to extract revenge. Whatever the case, Tommy fell down like london bridge.
Tubbo instantly locked his hands onto Tommy's sides, squeezing quickly. Tommy gave a squeal, falling into a hysterical giggle fit.
"Wahahahit! Wait wait wait! Tuhuhubbo!"
His hands weren't even pinned but it wouldn't have mattered if they had been. All Tommy was doing with his hands was weakly shoving at Tubbo's arms and chest, laughing like an absolute madman.
"Apologize bitch!" Tubbo yelled, pushing through Tommy's weak defenses to attack with no remose, "say you're sorry to Honeypuffs!"
"Hohohoneypuffs cahahan gohoho fuck himsel- TUBBO! HANG ON! NOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHERE! NOHOHOHO!"
Tommy curled into a ball, trying to protect his stomach that had fallen victim to Tubbo's ruthless attack.
"You know how to end this Tommy!" Tubbo giggled, switching from skittering his fingers to tazering, the tactic leaving Tommy in stitches.
"TUB-TUHUHUBBO!" Tommy managed to grip Tubbo's wrists and hold them tightly. "STOHOHOP!"
Tubbo switched tactics again, making his touch featherlight casing Tommy to, honest to god, squeal.
His laughter had started turning into wheezes much to Tubbo's amusement. Tommy attempted to roll onto his stomach to try and protect it from Tubbo's attack but immediately abandoned the escape route when Tubbo started squeezing his hips causing him to jack-knife onto his back again, letting out a high pitched yelp followed by a series of bubbly giggles.
"Tubbo! Tuhuhubbohoho plehehehese- stohohop! I cahahan't-"
Tubbo grinned. "Can't what Toms? Handle it? Should've thought of that before insulting Honeypuffs."
"Okahahay! Okay okay okay! Tuhubbo I'll apologize pleheahese juhuhust stohohop!"
Tubbo's fingers paused in their onslaught, letting Tommy get his breath back. He rested them on Tommy's sides making him flinch.
"Dohohon't" he whined weakly.
Tubbo gave a single squeeze making Tommy flinch and squeak. "Apologize then."
Through a string of giggles, Tommy managed to get out, "Ihihim sohohorry Honeheheypuhuhuffs."
Tubbo sighed dramatically. "See that wasn't so hard was it?"
He got off of Tommy, about to go retrieve his fuzzy friend from the rose bush when his ankle was grabbed, causing him to fall face first into the ground. "What in the hell-"
Weight settling on his lower back made him realise what was about to happen. "Tommy, hang on a second-"
Tommy crossed his arms above him. "Yeah no, I don't think I will."
He latched onto either side of Tubbo's ribcage and squeezed mercilessly. Tubbo shrieked, trying to push himself up from the dirt but his arms lacked the strength from both lack of sleep and the shock to his body. He crashed back down, his fists beating the grass as he laughed hysterically.
"Tohohohmmy! Tommy stohohop plehehease I'm sohohorry!"
"Oh? Youre asking me to stop, Honeypuffs are you hearing this?" Tommy looked up to the bumblebee still sitting peacefully on the rosebush. "This man right here, has the audacity to ask me to stop, when I asked the same thing earlier, do you know what he did Honeypuffs?"
"Tohohohommy plehehehese-!"
"Tubbo, be quiet, I'm trying to talk to Honeypuffs" Tommy shoved his hands under Tubbo's arms making him squeal and clamp his arms down.
"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted-" Tommy gently swirled his fingers in the hollows making Tubbo squeak and twist in ticklish agony. "-I requested Tubbo to stop when he was torturing me Honeypuffs, do you know what he did?"
"T-Tommy plehehease, I cahahan't tahahake thihihis-"
Tommy continued, ignoring Tubbo who was laughing like mad. "He didn't stop Honeypuffs, can you believe that?"
"Tommy I'm sohohorry alrihihight!? I'm sorry! Plehehease fohohor the love of god juhuhust stohohop!"
Tommy paused for a moment, letting Tubbo breathe. "Hmmm, let me sleep on it."
He snuck his fingers underneath Tubbo to lightly skitter across his lower belly, well aware the boy was horribly ticklish there.
Tubbo snorted, his whole body short circuiting and causing him to collapse, lost in his laughter.
"Did you seriously just snort?" Tommy's eyes danced with glee. "Oh that is too good, do it again!"
"T-Tom- Tohohohmmy" Tubbo tried to speak but the gentle nails spidering over his belly was too much for him. He gave in to the sensation, gripping the grass with tight fists as he shook with giggles.
"Awwww too ticklish Big T?" Tommy teased, occasionally pinching the skin lightly making Tubbo jolt. "Well trust me, it's about to get worse."
In one quick movement, Tommy flipped Tubbo over and yanked his shirt up. Tubbo opened his eyes just in time to see Tommy dip his head towards him.
"WAIT-"
Tommy blew the biggest raspberry he could on Tubbo's stomach, his victim withered as his laughter went silent, legs kicking out in desperation.
His voice squeaked when it came back, his laughter peppered with hiccups.
"TOMMY" He gasped through his laughter, "Tommy p-please no- I'm going to fucking die-"
"Don't exaggerate" Tommy snickered but decided to take pity.
He'd fallen victim to raspberries from both Wilbur and his parents, he knew how intensely they tickled.
And he didn't want to accidently kill his best friend after all.
Tommy pulled Tubbo's shirt back down, gently rubbing the area free from any phantom tickles.
Even at Tommy's soothing movements, Tubbo was still giggling up a storm, tears in us eyes and his face red though he tried to hide it.
"I'm not even trying to tickle you" Tommy laughed.
"Cahahan stihill feheheel ihihit" Tubbo whined, hiding his face in his hands.
Tommy laughed again getting off of Tubbo and helping him sit up, hugging him a little to help calm him. "Sorry, I forgot how much of a death spot that is for you."
"Ihihit's fine, just...don't you dare do raspberries again jesus christ, I thought I saw my life flash before my eyes."
Tommy giggled again, "And what happens if I do dare?"
Tubbo glared at him playfully. "I'll tickle you until you piss yourself."
That wasn't an empty threat.
Tommy held his hands up in surrender. "Okay, understood."
"Good" Tubbo sighed heavily, falling against Tommy's shoulder. "...I'm sleepy."
"Ugh get off me" Tommy grumbled, but made no move to shove off the smaller boy.
Tommy fell back, taking Tubbo with him. They fell with a grunt, Tubbo still pressed to Tommy's side.
"Clingy" Tommy mumbled.
"No you" Tubbo replied.
Tommy giggled quietly. "I hate you."
"Sure Clingyinnit."
"Fuck off."
Tubbo grinned. "We should probably go inside if we're gonna pass out."
"Mmm probably" Tommy made absolutely no move to shift.
That was okay by Tubbo, he was tired too.
Honeypuffs flew over now the chaos had calmed down, settling in Tubbo's hair. The boy barely reacted to the small creature, smiling up at his new bee friend.
They all passed out on the lawn, under the warm sun.

Insulted
Sum: Virgil works at a coffee shop and Remus is annoying. Annoyingly pretty.
Pair: Virgil/Remus, Dukexiety
Written for @dukexietyweek! Day 4: Coffee (Shop)
Warnings: Lots of swearing, mentions of the word pedophile in reference to Remus’ mustache, insulting remarks towards customers, some awkwardy mild panic feels, mostly stupid interactions.
--
Roasted is a fairly popular coffee shop. If only for the tourist attraction aspect of it that the employees are allowed to be as mean as they want to you and insult you with every order. They’re snarky and rude, and unless they actually get your order wrong, which they don’t, they don’t apologize for shit. They’re delighted when new-comers enter the shop unaware of the rules.
And whatever deity believed in above help the poor soul who asks for the manager because they are worse than the employees with a wicked wit and sharper tongue.
The rest of the employees would be scared of the manager because of this, but they have seen the man have a panic attack over potentially not having enough straws for the day even after three separate employees offered to go to the store and buy some. They’ve also seen the manager cry because they saw a video of a spider that was too cute for words which renders him pretty unintimidating. Besides, the manager has always been on their side of an argument anyway.
It’s a slow day and Virgil knows Missy hasn’t been sleeping right, or eating right, or feeling like she’s been doing anything right. So he packs her a muffin and a hot chocolate, and tells her to fuck off on home for the day. She doesn’t say thank you but the relief is clear in her shoulders so he knows it was the right thing to do. Besides it’s dead right now and he can handle a few customers for the time being until another employee shows up.
He serves a few people, some very eager to be insulted, some coming in with gaudy outfits for the sole purpose of being insulted, he has fun with those.
“What do you want?” He asks the next person in line, not even looking up from the register.
“I’ll have a large cup of whatever you are.” The person says and Virgil narrows his eyes and looks up. He stares at the stranger for all of three seconds.
“You have a pedo mustache.” Is what he says. The stranger breaks into a wide grin.
“Why thank you!” They sound far too delighted by that. Virgil continues to glare at them while writing the word ‘pedo stache’ on a large cup.
“What do you want?” He asks again more forcefully. The stranger hums in thought and Virgil would snap at them for taking too long but they are the only one in line right now.
“Hello?? Hurry up?” Screw it. He snaps his fingers in their face. Stranger man gives him a wicked smile and Virgil hates the little lurch in his chest because holy fuck and wait stranger is actually kind of pretty. Even with a fucking thin line mustache. Their eyes are bright green and streaks of white are layered in their hair. And Virgil always was a sucker for people with piercings and this dude sure has some to spare.
“Well if you’re not on the menu, I’ll have the raspberry lime tea. Hot as you please,” They say. Virgil writes cold on the cup.
“Anything else you fucking weirdo?” Virgil asks cause seriously it is kind of rude to be flirting with employees while they’re working but in the worst way Virgil kind of likes it cause it means he can say shit like that.
“Oh shit uhm, fuck.” Stranger man says and Virgil glares at them. Both for not being ready and also he kind of likes the way they say fuck which is not what he was expecting to deal with today.
“Jesus Christ dude were you not ready to order like why are you wasting my time?” Virgil demands. A few patrons of the place snicker into their cups and stranger just smirks at him.
“Sorry I don’t have a brain to mouth filter and it gets worse when I see a pretty person,” They wink and Virgil glares harder to will away the attempt at a blush on his cheeks.
“What else do you waaaaant.” He whines at them. Stranger laughs and pulls out a piece of paper. Virgil can already see the long list of items on it and groans.
“Relax it’s all one order,” Stranger says and Virgil scoffs.
“That’s so much worse!” He says. Stranger laughs hard at that.
“Well it’s not mine, princess back at the office is a picky bitch.” Stranger says with comically wide eyes and Virgil hates himself for it but he snorts. He schools his face back to neutrally angry and refuses to give the stranger the satisfaction of seeing him smile just yet.
So stranger man rattles off a long winded order that Virgil groans at with every new direction. He can easily make the drink of course that won’t be hard but he can complain about it so he will. He writes ‘princess’ on this cup.
Stranger man pays and Virgil sets about making the drinks very aware of the other watching him from the waiting counter.
“You just gunna keep staring at me like a stalker or what?” Virgil snips at them, pausing for dramatic effect. Mustache dude grins at him and leans on the counter with his head in his hands.
“I like the view,” He says. Virgil makes a retching sound and keeps making the drinks in question. He does his damn best with them and hands them off.
“Get the fuck out of my establishment,” He says and turns away. Stranger laughs and takes his drinks.
“Thanks for the buzz baby!” He calls out as he exits. Virgil flips him off.
As soon as the dude is out of sight, Virgil collapses on the counter in a heap of nerves and embarrassment. The only reason he was able to keep his cool was because he could hide it behind a massive amount of snark and spite. But stranger man was super pretty and wild and Virgil almost wishes he did something about it.
“You okay?” Parker asks when they show up for their shift.
“Do I fucking look okay?” Virgil asks them desperately. Parker just laughs and that’s good enough of answer for him.
--
“Hello gorgeous!” Virgil snaps his head up from the counter he’s cleaning.
“Oh hell no,” He says and walks away from the front to the back office, leaving his employees to handle Mr Mustache in his stead. He can’t handle it right now. Not when they’re wearing a fucking leather jacket and wild smile. He just can’t do it. So he hides in the back for as long as he can. Which ends up being about a whole ten minutes.
“Uh boss man?” Virgil groans cause that’s him. He’s boss man. Fuck. He drags his hands down his face and looks over at Todd. Todd shifts from foot to foot.
“There’s uhm. I just. Can you-” They don’t have to finish. Mom friend override has been activated and Virgil is heading to the front no questions asked. It’s not a rush right now thank goodness, but they lady at the counter is giving her all in 'entitled customer'.
“This is an outrage, I want to speak to the manager.”
“The fuck you want bitch?” Virgil says without thinking. The lady gapes at him openly.
“This is the worst shop I have ever been in.” She says as if that’s supposed to hurt. Virgil shrugs at her.
“You’re the worst customer that’s ever been in, did you want coffee or not?” He asks her and she gapes again and walks out.
“Put another ten in the draw for walk outs.” Virgil tells Todd who beams and takes the money from the register to put in a jar near the back. Once it’s full they have a party of some kind.
“That was beautiful,” A voice says and Virgil whips around and comes face to face with Stranger Man over the counter. They’re smiling at him crookedly and Virgil's mouth drops because he was not prepared to see them here still or this close to him or so damn pretty.
“Fuck you,” Is his reflex response.
“When and where darling?” Stranger angles over the counter to leer at him and Virgil squeaks. Full on, flat out, squeaks in embarrassment. The entire room seems to pause and watch. Virgil is frozen in shock and stranger looks like he just saw light for the first time which is absolutely unfair.
Virgil dips, and dips hard. He spins on his heel to lock himself in the office. He makes it there only to realize he can’t handle being in such a small space with his anxiety overriding him. He snatches his jacket off the back wall and catches Todd’s eye before he slips out the back door and into open air.
Once outside he leans against the wall, puts his head in his hands, and lets out a very pitiful whine as he sinks to the ground. That has to be one of the softest things he’s ever done in regards to a customer in his life and it will haunt him for years to come he knows it.
He spends a few minutes running through his breathing exercises which goes directly to shit when he hears footsteps approaching.
“I’m fine Todd go back to work,” He snaps.
“The name’s Remus actually.” Virgil jolts and looks at the stranger standing over him. Stranger, or well, Remus, gives him a small sheepish smile and pulls at a random strand of his hair. Virgil sinks lower in on himself.
“You’re a lot different in and out of shop.” Remus says after a sufficiently awkward silence. Virgil grumbles and hides his face in his arms. His entire body tenses when he feels Remus slide to sit beside him.
“I am uh. Like, legit sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” Remus mutters. Virgil groans.
“I was not ready to deal with your stupid pretty face today.” He whines. Remus laughs at that.
“You think I’m pretty?” He asks and Virgil realizes his mistake in word choice. He glances up to Remus in panic cause now that he's admitted it, Remus looks even more pretty.
“Well I just- you know it’s- I don’t- Whatever!” Virgil word vomits all over the place. Remus continues to smile at him infuriatingly.
“Even with the pedo stache?” Remus continues to tease. Virgil decides he’s had enough and elbows Remus hard as he can. Remus lurches a little but he’s laughing. They lapse into an easier silence.
“Silver tongue ain’t so shiny out of work is it?” Remus asks him then but not meanly. Virgil snorts and covers his mouth with his hand to hide his smile.
“I have to get passed the awkward first,” He says. Remus hums in thought and snatches Virgil’s hand away from his face. Virgil lets out a dignified noise and snaps his jaw shut so hard it clicks when Remus places a kiss on his palm... then licks him.
“Gross what the fuck!” Virgil yanks his hand back and wipes off the slobber and decidedly not looks at Remus’s blinding grin.
“There! Now it’s not so awkward!” Instead of an answer, Virgil stands up and heads back inside the shop, leaving Remus cackling in the back. Virgil leans up against the door to hear him walk away and finds himself smiling at the interaction.
--
“Welcome to Roasted, or not welcome because we close soon I don’t actually care, what do you want?” Virgil is looking through receipts, making sure the till is all correct for the money they made today.
“I want your number.” Virgil freezes. He blinks dumbly at the papers in his hands and then up to Remus standing casually at the counter. His hands are in his pockets and he looks for the world unbothered but more subdued than Virgil has seen him before.
“Numbers not on the menu,” Virgil says dumbly in attempt to cover his frantic feelings. Remus shrugs and looks around the empty shop.
“Yeah but it’s what I want.” He says it so plainly. Virgil glares at him.
“Order something or get out.” That causes Remus to smirk. He orders a small tea and Virgil makes it silently, adding the receipt to the pile to check on. He pauses before handing the drink over, looking over his shoulder at Remus who is preoccupied with some of the decorative things on the walls. Virgil writes his number on the cup.
“Get your shit and get out,” He says and puts the cup on the counter, going back to his papers and ignoring the way his heart pounds in his chest at what he just did. Remus gives him a sad sort of look and leaves with his drink leaving Virgil wondering if he did the right thing.
Only for his stomach to swoop pleasantly when Remus swoops back into the shop 3 minutes later with a wild smile on his face and refuses to leave until they work out the plans for a dinner date.
--
“Go away.” Virgil greets.
“Never.” Remus smirks back at him.

I am happy to give you ideas! Please supply me with your brilliant writing! I need a bedtime story! Maybe Sirius getting pretty badly injured at a game? Re's reaction and then him helping with recovery?🥰
Okay this ones a little unrealistic probably but I was looking up injuries in hockey and this came up multiple times so yeah. (Also I got so carried away with this one. I literally lagged my phone with how long this ended up being.  There’s defiantly going to be multiple parts because I wrote too much and Tumblr won’t let me write more
Warning : Injury, panic attack?, heart problems, mentions of child abuse
“You okay?” James asked Sirius.
“Yeah, I just feel-off. I guess.”
James nodded, still concerned about the pained look on his face.
He stood up to go tell Remus when Sirius collapsed.
Remus jumped over beach to get to him. The other players on the bench crowding around him.
“What happened?” James screamed.
They could hear the announcer talking about the commotion on the bench. Everyone on the ice skating over and shouting questions. The stadium filled with quiet whispers.
Remus’s mind went blank. He went into the medic routine, not thinking about the fact that it was the love of his life on the ground.
“He’s in cardiac arrest” Moody told them.
“He’s 24” Logan exclaimed.
“DAMN IT GET A MEDIC NOW” Dumo shouted. All of them screamed for a medic as Moody cut off his jersey and gear and Remus began CPR
“WHERE THE HELL IS THE MEDIC HES DYING” Kasey screamed. This sent a shock through the crowd.
The medics appeared and pushed everyone out of the way, only Moody was allowed on the bench with him.
“NO. HE’S DYING AND YOURE NOT HELPING HIM” James tried to fight them.
“Stops, Stop” Remus put a shaking hand on his chest. “Let them work. Let them help him. Please James, I’m begging you to let them help him” his voice shook.
James nodded, backing away from the bench.
Dumo went over to stand near Remus. “What are you thinking right now?” He asked him, knowing that it was pointless to ask if he was okay.
“That I don’t want to lose him. I don’t want to lose him” Remus told him honestly. “My biggest fear is him getting hurt or leaving me and now he’s hurt and could be leaving me forever”
Dumo wrapped his arms around Remus, who’s breathing picked up as he thought about Sirius dying.
“Breathe, breathe Loops” He waved over Leo to help calm him down.
“Hey, hey. I know you’re fucking terrified right now. I can’t even imagine what I would do if it was one of my boys but you need to try and breathe Remus. You’re no help to Sirius if you’re panicking. Respirer, Remus”
He nodded, taking deep breathes.
“Good, good.” Leo nodded.
“If he d-”
“No, we’re not thinking about that right now” Dumo cut him off.
“His heart stopped” Remus began to remember bits and pieces of the last few minutes. Remembered checking for a pulse and telling Moody there wasn’t one. “His heart wasn’t beating. He was dead”
The rest of the players were standing around in terror.
They all went quiet as they tried to process what he said, they could hear the medics counting off numbers for the defibrillator.
Alice and Frank were quieting the stadium while trying to figure out what was happening.
The other team, the Hufflepuff Badgers skated over.
“What happened?” one of the players asked.
“Apparently cardiac arrest.” Adam Fox told him.
“He’s young though, isn’t he?”
“Yeah. Yeah he is” Finn said sadly.
A stretcher ran past them, loading Sirius onto it.
His skin was the color of snow. His black hair a stark contrast where it fell into his closed eyes. Remus wanted nothing more than to tuck it behind his ear like he’s done hundreds of times. His jersey and gear had been completly removed. A medic was on the stretcher, preforming CPR as they rushed him off the ice and into the waiting ambulance.
Remus shook his head and covered his mouth, tears streaming down his face. James turned him around and hugged him. The entire team gathered around them in a huge hug.
The Hufflepuffs made a circle around them, all of them with their hands on their neighbors shoulder and head down.
They stayed that way for a while before refs told them that the game was over. Their coaches wanted them in their locker rooms. They nodded and pulled away.
The Hufflepuff players patted all their backs and told them they would pray for Sirius.
It was silent as they walked into the locker room.
Remus walked over and sat in Sirius’s stall. He jolted as he realized that they wind of had to cut his necklace off.
But his eyes drifted to the wall of his stall. A small nail in the back corner had the ‘12’ necklace hanging from it. With a post it beside it that read “Re, promise I still love it. Just can’t stand the thought of it getting broken. I love you.”
He smiled sadly, reaching over and took the necklace off the makeshift hook. He couldn’t hold back his sobs any longer.
“He’s going to be okay. He has to be okay.” James cried beside him.
Coach Weasley walked in a few minutes later. “They’re trying to stabilize him and get him on a ventilator. They’re thinking about surgery to put in an ICD”
“ICD? What the hell is that?”
“It’s a device that will monitor his heart rate and shock it if it beats irregularly” Remus explained.
“Like a pacemaker?”
“No pacemakers force your heart to beat. ICDs just monitor it and help if something goes wrong”
“Can he still play?”
“He will be able to if he chooses to but he’s out for the rest of the season. The league can’t risk it.” Coach told them.
“He’s 24 years old. How can you go into cardiac arrest at 24 years old?” Olli asked.
They all looked to Remus for the answer.
“He’s an athlete and works out religiously. Too much exercise can sometimes cause the left heart valve to overwork. He told me that when he was younger his parents wouldn’t let him or Regulus sleep. Making them practice on their rink until morning or they collapsed.”
“Jesus Christ they need to be in jail.” Logan gasped.
“Or hell” James requested.
“The second options much better” Kasey said. “I volunteer to help send them there”
“All of you get dressed to go to the hospital.” Arthur told them, not even commenting on their murder plans.
The team had never changed so quickly.
“Remus, you’re driving over with me.” Dumo told him, Remus just nodded.
“What if he’s not okay?” Remus broke the silence in the car. “I know everyone’s saying he will be but what if he’s not? Realalistic he’s not going to be okay”
“Then we deal with it if that happens. No one knows what’s going to happen. None of us know how to prepare for a teammate to die. So all we can do is wait”
“I can’t lose him Pascal. I don’t think I can live without him.”
Dumo didn’t respond, just reached over and placed a hand on the back of his neck, squeezing slightly. Partly because he wanted to comfort him and partly because he knew it was true.
***
The hospital was quiet as they all waited for news. Some of them sitting on the uncomfortable chairs, a few of them pacing.
“Can all of you stop” Sergio told them, getting annoyed with the footsteps.
“No we’re stressed out so we’re not going to sit” Finn rolled his eyes at him.
“It’s annoying” Kasey told them.
“Too bad. Deal with it” James rolled his eyes.
They argued for a few minutes before Remus snapped.
“KNOCK IT OFF” he barked. “My boyfriend is in there dying or already dead and you’re fighting because footsteps are annoying you.”
They all quieted and sat down.
Lily and Natalie walked into the waiting room a few minutes, tears on their faces.
James and Kasey stood up to hug them.
“What’s going on? What happened? No one knows anything.” Natalie asked.
“What did you see?” Dumo asked as Celeste walked in.
Lily pulled away from the hug she was in with Remus. “Me and Nat were watching the game. And then they panned over to the bench where you were crowded around someone on the ground, one of you tipped over the bench so there was more room and the arena got quiet. Then Dumo was shouting for a medic and Kasey shouted that someone was dying. And the crowd started screaming. Then medics ran over and made all of you clear out and James was screaming something at them. Then Dumo went over to Remus and they said that they think it’s Sirius but they don’t know what happened and then he was wheeled out on a stretcher with someone doing CPR. The the game was over. And the announcers just talked for the rest of the time trying to figure out what happened and replaying everything. They talked to Hufflepuff players but they said it wasn’t their place to explain.” She told them.
“Sirius went into cardiac arrest” James told them.
“Oh god” Celeste gasped.
“Remus I’m so sorry” Lily breathed, pulling him in for another hug.
Nat had more tears falling down her face. “Did they say how he was?”
Dumo shook his head.
They sat down. Lily sitting between James and Remus. Remus’s head on her shoulder as she held James’s hand.
No one knew how long they sat there for before a doctor walked over to them. They all stood up.
“How is he?” Remus asked, terror coursing through his body at the sober look on the doctors face.
“He’s stable.” Remus breathed for the first time in hours.
“His heart did stop multiple times so we ended up having to insert the ICD you were told about. He’s still not awake due to the medication. He’s allowed one visitor for now.”
They all nodded at Remus.
“You were lucky. If you hadn’t reacted like you did we wouldn’t of been able to save him.”
The doctor gave him Sirius’s room number and the overview of directions to get there before leaving.
Lily kissed his cheek and squeezed his hand. “Go see him.”
Remus just nodded and walked down the hospital hallway. He took a shaky breath as he walked into Sirius’s room. But none of it prepared him for it.
A bandage was around his chest and over his shoulder, protecting the stitches underneath. Too many wires were starched to him. Remus walked over to the chair and pulled it up beside him.
“Hi baby” he said as he grabbed his hand gently. Kissing his knuckles.
“I know you can’t hear me but I need you to wake up. I need to hear your voice and see your pretty eyes, okay. I need to know that you’re here and I’m not going to lose you. Please baby.” He begged. Reaching up with the hand not holding Sirius’s to brush the hair out of his face.
“I love you. I love you” he repeated, kissing his forehead. “Please wake up”
Time was water, Remus was drowning in it. Knowing he couldn’t do anything except wait.
Finally, Sirius’s hand twitched in his.
Remus stood up. Watching Sirius blink his eyes open, squinting at the bright hospital light.
“Hey, hey baby” Remus smiled at him, his eyes filled with hears as he looked into Sirius’s grey ones.
Sirius came to his sense and jolted, his eyes going wide and making a machine beep once.
“Shh, shh, shh. You’re okay. You’re okay” he ran a hand through his hair.
A nurse quickly entered the room, the beeping of the machine probably alerting them.
“Oh, you’re awake” she smiled. “I’m just going to check your vitals real quick.”
“What happened?” He asked.
“You, uh, you went into cardiac arrest during the game” Remus told him.
“Can I still play?”
Remus laughed “You just almost died and literally died multiple times and that’s what you ask. And yes you still can once you’re healed but you’ll be out for the rest of the season to recover and give you’re heart time to rest”
“Wait so I had a heart attack?”
“No. You’re heart stopped.”
“Why?” Sirius’s asked. Sticking his arm out for the nurse to pull out an IV that wasn’t needed anymore.
“You exercise too much love” Remus smiled at him.
“That can cause my heart to stop?” He asked the nurse.
“Yes. You overwork it when it beats too fast while you work out. Eventually it gives out.” She explained.
“Oh, can it happen to the other guys?” He asked, concerned.
“It’s rare.” The nurse shook her head. “And from the looks of it, the excessive exercise goes back to your childhood”
“Baise mes parents”
“Fuck your parents is correct. I’m pretty sure the guys are plotting a murder plan in the waiting room” he joked.
“Good”
“I’ll leave you two to plot a murder alone” the nurse smiled before leaving the room.
“I like her, she seems nice” Sirius told him, still a tiny bit loopy from the meds.
“Yeah she does seem nice” Remus smiled.
“Are you okay?” Sirius squeezed his hand.
“Don’t worry about me”
“Too bad I’m going too anyway.”
Remus smiled sadly. “You terrified me baby. I thought I was going to lose you.”
“I’m right here, mon amour”
“I know you are. I just... realized I can’t live without you.”
“And you won’t have too. Now lean down so I can kiss you”
Remus giggled and leaned down, letting Sirius kiss him. He kissed back. It wasn’t a deep kiss but Remus poured everything into it. I love you. You scared me. I need you here with me. I love you more than anything. I can’t live without you.
“I love you” Sirius said when they pulled away.
“I love you too”
Remus sat back down as the doctor knocked on the door.
“You’re teams driving me insane.” He smiled.
“Yeah they do that a lot” Sirius told him.
“Alright, don’t let them hug you and mess up your stitches, I already told them that but I don’t think they’ll listen.”
Sirius nodded. “Am I allowed to sit the bed up. My backs hurting from laying down”
“Yes you can. Just not too far.” He told him before leaving to go get some of the team.
Remus helped him move the bed up. Kissing his forehead when he was sitting up.
“I love you” he muttered against it.
“Love you too” Sirius responded.
Remus knew he had told him that a lot today but if that was all he could said for the rest of his life he would mind.
A few minutes James, The Cubs, Dumo, Celeste, Natalie, and Lily burst into the room.
“Oh merci putain tu es en vie” James gasped.
“I am alive” Sirius laughed.
“If you die again I’ll kill you”
“That’s not at all how it works” Remus told him.
“I’ll make it work”
“We’re glad you’re okay. You scared us for a while there” Dumo told him.
“One could say you have us a heart attack” James smirked.
“Oh my god that was the worse joke I have ever heard in my life” Sirius groaned with a laugh.
“I think it was a pretty good one, si je le dis moi-même”
The girls all kissed his cheek and then scattered across the room to find a place to sit.
“So, what exactly happened?” Sirius asked them.
“You just looked...bad. Like you were pale and kept wincing and rubbing your chest. So I went to tell Remus to check to make sure you were okay and you completely collapsed.” James told him.
“Everyone was around you, Moody and Remus were trying to figure out what happened and the medics were taking forever. We screamed for them but they still took too long. Moody said you were in cardiac arrest and started CPR” Leo picked up.
“They made us go onto the ice so they could work on you. Moody and Coach were the only one allowed on the bench. Remus was freaking out and so was everyone else. The Hufflepuff team came over and we told them what happened. And then they wheeled you out on a stretcher” Logan continued.
“What does everyone know?”
“Just that it was you that it happened too. They were doing CPR on you when you were rushed out. They asked the other team what happened but they said it wasn’t their place to tell. Coach said they’ll have to release a statement in a few. He’ll come back and talk to you about it in a little.” Dumo told him.
“What treatment did I get?”
“You were on a ventilator for a litttle while they were trying to stabilize you.” Remus explained. “Once you were stable for a while they did a surgery to place an ICD in your chest. It’s a small device that will monitor your heartrate and heart beat. If something happens it will send a shock through your heart. I don’t know much else about it so the doctor will have to explain it.”
“But I can still play with it in?”
“Yes. You can still play.” Remus smiled.
“Good” he said with a nod.
“Why is your biggest concern hockey after you just died?” Dumo asked.
“Because it is”
“You’re impossible, you know that?” Remus laughed, kissing his temple.
“When can I leave the hospital?”
The others shared looks.
“What? How long?”
“Cardiac arrest is really serious baby” Remus told him.
“How long?” He repeated firmly.
“A month”
“What? But I’m perfectly fine” he exclaimed.
“I know you are but that’s just for right now.” Remus told him. “But 40% of people die within a year after cardiac arrest”
Sirius threw his head back against the pillow.
“I’m sorry, baby”
“Fuck my parents”
“We have the murder planned” Kasey told him.
“You’re the one to kill them” Natalie added.
“Good”
“No one is killing anyone. But if it’s okay with you, we can tell people about it and the reason your heart stopped.” Remus told him.
“I’ll have to call Reg about it. Ask him about it or I can say that he was the favorite child so they didn’t do anything to him.”
Remus nodded. “You’re parents have to pay for what they did” he said as he moved the piece of hair that won’t stay out of his face.
“Yeah” The coversation was cut off as the nurse from before walked in.
“How are you feeling?” She asked.
“I’m okay, my chest is a little sore but it doesn’t like, hurt-hurt” he told her.
Everyone tensed before she responded with a nod.
“With the surgery and multiple rounds of CPR, you probably will be for a while. If it gets more than sore tell us right away” she said as she checked his blood pressure.
Sirius nodded and squeezed Remus’s hand, it was still tensed up. He tugged on it lightly. Remus stood up and kissed the corner of his mouth. Relaxing immediately.
“Alright, vitals are good. Dr. Hudson will be in soon to talk about further treatment.” She told him, closing the door as she left.
Sirius reaches for his necklace subconsciously, jolting forward when he couldn’t feel it.
“I have it. You took it off so it would break on the ice. Remember?” Remus pulled it out of his pocket.
Sirius nodded, sitting up to let Remus clasp it around his neck.
“Good thing you took it off. They would of had to cut it off it you hadn’t.”
Sirius nodded, relaxing as he fidgeted with it.
Dr. Hudson walked in a few moments later.
The team stood up, promising to be back later.
“Alright” he pulled up a chair. “So you’re going to be staying here for a month. Just so that we can monitor you and make sure that your ICD works like it should. If you go into cardiac arrest or have any other heart issues we’ll have to keep you hear longer. 40% of people discharged from the hospital after cardiac arrest die within a year.” He told them.
“So what do I do about hockey?” Sirius asked.
“That’s literally all you’re concerned about” Remus shook his head with a smile.
Dr. Hudson chuckled. “You’ll be able to play next year.”
“Next year” he exclaimed.
“Sorry but we have to make sure you won’t die again” he smiled at how upset he was.
“After you’re discharged from the hospital and you rest for 2 weeks you’ll be able to sit on the bench during practices and games.”
“Good I still get to yell at them” he smirked.
Remus and the doctor both laughed.
“Your Coach is going to be here in a few minutes. So I’ll leave you all to discuss what ever you need to discuss.”
They thanked him as he stood and left the room.
As sad, Coach Weasly entered a few minutes later with a guy in a suit. “This is Mr. Tela. He’s from the league and is going to make the formal statement” he told them.
Mr. Tela shook Remus’s hand before going to shake Sirius’s.
Sirius winced and sharply inhaled in pain when he at up and extended his arm. “Sorry, forgot I had stitches”
“Perfectly fine” Mr. Tela smiled.
“So what’s the statement going to be?” Sirius asked.
“We need to be careful to not not scare your fans. There’s already mass panic at the fact that Winters screamed that he was dying. And the fact that you where taken away with someone doing frantic CPRhas obviously made fans assume the worst.”
“When are you making the statement? Do I have to say anything or is the league going too?”
“The league will announce it. It’s been over 12 hours since it happened so we’ll have to announce it soon.”
Remus blinked. 12 hours. It felt like just minutes ago but at the same time it felt like years.
“What’s the statement going to say?” Remus asked.
“This is what we have for now. You two can add anything or ask for it to be removed.” He took out two pieces of paper that had the statement printed on it.
Gryffindor Lion Captain, 24 year old, Sirius Black collapsed during the Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff game last night. The reason for the collapse was cardiac arrest. Black was quickly rushed to the hospital where they were able to revive him. He will be hospital for the next few months. Sadly, he will be unable to play until next year to make sure his heart will be able to stay stable. The reason for the cardiac arrest is unknown as of now.
“Wait why aren’t we telling them the reason for it?” Sirius asked.
“We weren’t sure if you would want it to be known yet.” Mr. Tela said. “If you would like the reason to be included we can add it.”
“I’ll have to talk to my brother about it. See if he wants everyone to know how shitty out parents are.”
Mr. Tesla nodded. “We’ll give you sometime to do that. Just call or text your coach when you’ve made a decision and we’ll come back in and talk about what exactly to say.”
“Thank you” Sirius thanked him.
They stood and left the room.
“Merde, I don’t have my phone”
“Here” Remus pulled it out of his pocket. “Grabbed it from your bag.”
“I love you” Sirius smiled, leaning over and kissing him.
“I love you too. Now call your brother.”

A Place to Belong Chapter 40: A Malcolm
Chapter 39

Tumblr media
The meal that Jenny and Mary MacNab had prepared in celebration of Jamie’s return had been as grand as possible given the limitations of harvest and money. It was indeed delicious and enjoyable, and the table itself was full of life. The children chattered on and on to their long lost uncle, and Claire could tell Jamie was careful to not address a single one of them by name except wee Jamie. There were several points throughout the meal where he became overwhelmed, but all it took was a squeeze of his hand from Claire and a reassuring smile, and she was able to pull him back to Earth.
He gradually became more comfortable, listening jovially to the children’s babbling. Claire noticed that he particularly could not keep his eyes off of baby Ian, sitting in Jenny’s lap, content to gnaw on the bannock in his hands for the entire meal with the occasional spoonful of mashed potatoes shoved into his mouth. Claire made a note to have Jamie hold the baby and play with him; it would do him good to leave an impression on a child that hadn’t yet known life without him. It would perhaps fill at least a small part of the cavern in his heart that missing Brianna’s infancy had left in its wake.
At some point, Mary MacNab had come by to scoop Ian out of Jenny’s lap to take him to bed, and it wasn’t long after that that Jenny was sending the rest of them upstairs themselves. She looked pointedly at Jamie, a strange look that Claire could not place, but one look at Jamie and she gathered that Jenny was coming through loud and clear to her brother.
You’re not going anywhere.
The children did a mass exodus out of the dining room, a cacophony of yells and giggles, and Claire couldn’t help but smile to hear Maggie’s voice above the throng:
“Dinna be so rowdy. Mother said it’s time fer bed.”
Wee Mother Hen.
Claire swept her eyes around the room and then landed on Fergus, who was staring intently at Jamie. She looked to Jamie, who was staring intently back at him. It took Claire a moment to piece it together, but it wasn’t long before it hit her: Jamie was fully expecting Fergus to disappear with the children. He couldn’t yet fathom that the lad had grown up. Perhaps he didn’t want to speak of prison in front of him, and he hadn’t been prepared to have to do so.
“So,” Jenny, never one to beat around the bush, was the first to break the silence. “Care to share how it is ye’ve been alive all this time after we spent eight years hearing of Red Jamie’s death?”
Claire felt Jamie stiffen beside her, and she instinctively reached out to take his hand, squeezing comfortingly.
Claire could see from across the table that Ian put his hand on Jenny’s thigh and whispered a low warning: “Janet. Easy now.”
She huffed indignantly and turned away from him, but she did not shake his hand off of her. It would appear that Jenny’s initial joy of having him back had already been replaced by angry betrayal. Frankly, Claire didn’t blame her. She might have felt the same if she wasn’t so God damned relieved. Perhaps that would come later.
“Well?” Jenny said, looking pointedly at Jamie.
“I ken I’ve got a lot to explain,” Jamie began.
“Aye, ye do.”
“Janet.”
“It’s alright, Ian.” Jamie looked up at them finally, his eyes pained, but understanding. “Ye have every right to be angry. All of ye.” His head turned and he faced Claire, looking her right in the eyes. Claire swallowed thickly and blinked back tears.
“Suppose I should start from the beginning,” he said, shifting again so he was facing Ian and Jenny and able to turn his head to look at Fergus if he so chose. “I was injured in battle, too much to run. Rupert brought me to a hut where other injured men were hiding. But it was hopeless, ye ken. We were all just…waiting to be found. Waiting to be shot.”
Claire gave his hand another reassuring squeeze.
“Well, found we were, o’ course. One by one they took our names and brought us out to be shot. There was nothing I could do but pray that ye’d all be safe when I was gone.” A single tear trickled down Claire’s cheek.
“When it came time fer me to give my name, nothing short of a miracle occurred. Claire, d’ye remember the lad who attacked me near Corrieyairack, before Prestonpans, and we brought him in to be questioned, but he wouldna budge until ye started pretending to be our prisoner?”
Claire’s brow furrowed, but the corners of her mouth involuntarily twitched up at the memory. “Yes…I do.”
“He told me he owed me a debt of honor fer sparing his life. D’ye recall?”
“I…I suppose…”
“I remember as well, Milord,” Fergus chimed in.
Jamie nodded towards Fergus before continuing. “He spoke of a brother, a Lord Melton. Well, this was the verra same Lord Melton who came upon us in that hut. When I gave my name, he insisted on carrying out his brother’s debt of honor.”
“He spared your life,” Claire whispered reverently.
“Aye, he did. But the death of Red Jamie was far too tempting of a feat to brag to His Majesty.” Jamie smirked darkly. “And Lord Melton didna want his reputation sullied. So they spread the word that I’d been killed in battle, and they brought an Alexander Malcom to Ardsmuir Prison.”
“A Dhiah,” Ian breathed in disbelief. “All this time, the one that spared yer life was a bloody Redcoat?”
“Aye. A man of great honor.” He nodded solemnly. “His brother as well. He became Ardsmuir’s new governor about six years into my sentence. Hardly recognized him, but it was the very same lad. He’s the reason I’m here wi’ ye now.”
“He got you free?” Claire’s eyes were wide.
“Aye. He did. He appealed to the crown fer the freedom of Alexander Malcom, and he won it.”
“Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ,” Claire breathed.
“Why the Devil would he do such a thing?” Jenny fired. “There must be some catch. Does he ken who ye are?”
“Aye, he does ken the truth.” Jamie nodded. “But there’s no catch.”
“A bloody Redcoat who knows ye’re the most famous Jacobite traitor sets ye free and there’s no catch?” Jenny spat. “Ye must be mad, brother!”
“He’s a good man, Jenny, I ken it.”
“How? How d’ye ken it?”
“I just…I do! Alright?” Claire noticed he was trembling, red in the face. “Murtagh was ill, and he — ”
“Murtagh?” Claire gasped. “He’s alive…?”
“Oh, aye, didna mention that, I suppose.” He grinned sheepishly.
“Where is he?” Claire stammered. “Is he alright?”
“Sent off to the colonies wi’ the other prisoners when they closed the prison,” Jamie said. “That’s how I was able to be set free. No prison anymore, and John petitioned my freedom rather than indentured servitude wi’ the others.”
“Oh, ye’re on a first name basis wi’ him then?” Jenny said incredulously, her eyes wide.
“Janet,” Ian admonished again.
“No, I dinna like this one bit!” Jenny waved him off. “What in God’s name was so special about ye that ye were the exception out of every other prisoner? Why did he spare you? How do we ken we won’t be raided in the night and all of us killed now that ye’ve led them right to us?”
“That’s no’ why, Janet — ”
“Then why, Jamie? Help me understand!”
“He is — !” Jamie raised his voice frighteningly, but then he bit his tongue, letting his body relax for a moment. Claire squeezed his hand, waiting patiently, though she, too, was more than eager to find out this man’s motives.
“He’s…fond…of me,” Jamie said quietly, avoiding everyone’s eyes and staring into the grain of the table.
Claire immediately felt panic sear through her chest, her breath catching in her throat.
Someone has hurt him again. The bastard used his power to take advantage of him.
“Jamie…” Claire choked.
“No, Claire,” he said firmly, turning his head in her direction, but still not looking at her. His voice dropped to a whisper as he said: “He didna.”
Claire let out a trembling sigh of relief.
Jenny and Ian looked hopelessly confused. Neither of them knew the depth of what Randall had done to Jamie. No one did, save Claire, Murtagh, and the few men that had helped in his rescue. Claire looked over at Fergus, and he looked like he was in pain. He knew all too well what Jamie was referring to, what Claire was afraid of.
Claire reached under the table to squeeze Fergus’s hand, now holding tightly onto both of her dear lads.
“He’s an honorable man,” Jamie said again, loudly enough now for everyone to hear. “We spoke a great deal and he…he kent I had a wife waiting fer me. Ye were all I could speak of Claire, every breath I took was fer you. And he could tell; he could see how deeply I loved ye. When he granted me my freedom, he shook my hand and he said to me: ‘Cherish that wife of yours, Fraser.’”
Another tear trickled down Claire’s cheek. Jamie looked deeply into her eyes, his pupils dilated, and she could hear him without him having to say it:
Cherish her I will.
“Alright.” Jenny exhaled and crossed her arms over her chest. “That’s all fine and good, then. So where was any word from ye that ye lived?”
“I couldna put ye in danger like that,” Jamie said. “Don’t ye understand? If I had asked them to deliver letters to Lallybroch, they’d know straight away I wasna who I said I was. They’d ken that Claire was the very same wife to Red Jamie. ’Twas my face on the broadsheets, aye, no’ hers, but to send letters to where she lived would be as sure as putting her face on one.” Jamie shuddered. “I ken what they’re capable of, and so do you, Janet.” He stared at Jenny darkly, and she blanched, slumping over in her chair slightly, likely remembering what Randall had almost done to her all those years ago.
“I dinna wish to think of what they would do to Red Jamie’s wife if they found her here wi’ his family.” His voice was tight with emotion as he squeezed Claire’s hand. “And now that I know that my child dwelt here as well…I…I canna bear to think what they’d do to her.” He shuddered. “As much pain as it caused ye to hear no word, I dinna regret any of it. I’d do it again if it meant keeping ye safe. All of ye.”
“You were right to think that way, Jamie,” Claire said softly, reassuring him. “They already suspected. They came by many times asking where I was when I had time to hide, and trying to question me when I didn’t. Letters from you would have been my death sentence. You’re right.”
“It’s true,” Ian chimed in. “Trying to hide that she was English when they came by was quite the feat. All they needed was the slightest bit of confirmation, and I ken they’d be dragging her away. Her and perhaps wee Brianna as well.” Ian smiled gravely at Jamie. “Ye did the right thing, lad.”
Ian turned to look expectantly at Jenny, who had significantly deflated “Aye,” she said finally, not looking him in the eye. “Suppose ye did.”
“All that matters is that ye’re back, Jamie, and that none of us are in danger because of it,” Ian said, raising his glass to him. “Slaínte.”
“Slaínte,” everyone echoed.
A loud shriek suddenly echoed through the house, causing everyone to jump.
Claire smiled. “That wasn’t mine,” she said teasingly, knowing by now what her daughter sounded like.
“Oh, aye, sounds like Janet.” Jenny sighed. “Michael is probably tormenting her again. Excuse me.” She rose from the table and quickly strode out of the room.
Jamie also couldn’t help but smile. “Ye’ve had a great many blessings,” he said to Ian.
“Aye, we have.” He smiled. “But a great deal of hardship as well.”
His face fell a bit. “Aye, I’m sure.”
“She’s just hurt, Jamie,” Ian said gently. “She’ll come back around to ye soon enough. It was hard fer her, losing ye so suddenly like that, all of a sudden having to raise wee Jamie to fill in yer shoes as Laird someday. She took on the responsibility of keeping this land safe, keeping yer wife and child safe.” He looked pointedly at Claire. “She carried the weight of the world on her shoulders to honor yer memory. She’s just hurt that it’s all been a lie.”
Jamie nodded, his jaw hard, his eyes misting over. “Aye. I…dinna blame her.”
“She will come around, Jamie,” Claire said . “She always does. Which reminds me…”
“Ah,” Ian said, grinning a bit. “Suppose he doesna ken that we ken?”
Jamie’s eyes narrowed. “I dinna ken that they ken what?”
Claire almost laughed at the absurdity of the conversation. “I told Jenny about my being from the future. Shortly after Brianna’s birth.”
Jamie’s eyes widened. “Oh.”
“Aye, then Jenny told me,” Ian said.
“And I demanded to be let in on the secret about a year later,” Fergus chimed in.
Jamie nodded thoughtfully. “Right. That makes sense. What about the bairns?”
“No, they’re too young to understand,” Claire said. “I suppose we’ll have to tell Brianna eventually, but when she’s older.”
“Aye…I suppose…” Jamie looked to Claire. “How did she take it? Jenny?”
Claire smirked. “Not too well, at first. Her first thought was witchcraft, of course, especially because of Brianna’s seizures and this century’s association of epilepsy to the Devil.” Jamie smirked as well, picturing all-too-clearly his sister on a tirade against his wife. “But eventually she let up and we came to an understanding.”
“I didna understand it at all; still don’t, truth be told,” Ian said. “But I believed Claire’s heart to be true, so it had to be the truth. Simple as that.”
“Aye, I told myself the same thing.” Jamie looked deeply into her eyes again, lifting her hand to his lips and kissing her knuckles gently.
“I think I perhaps took it better than anyone,” Fergus said with a crooked grin. “I learned  to not ask questions when it came to Maman. I’m still not convinced that she isn’t La Dame Blanche.” He raised his eyebrows at her playfully.
Claire rolled her eyes. “Right.” She grinned back at him. “Anyway,” Claire continued, looking at Jamie again. “I only bring it up because she did come back around. Even when…after Caitlin.” Claire’s eyes flicked to Ian, not wanting to reveal anything he didn’t wish to speak of.
“Caitlin…?” Jamie looked back and forth between them.
“Aye. Our wee lass. Born and dead on the same day.”
Jamie looked like he’d been punched in the gut, and I squeezed his hand tighter.
“Christ, Ian. I’m…I’m sorry…”
“Dinna fash, Jamie,” Ian said, though his voice was twinged with sadness. “We’ve healed the best we could.”
“Aye…but ye…ye never truly heal from…from that.”
Claire looked at him, another tear trickling down her face.
I know, love. I thought of her, too.
She allowed a brief silence to pass between them and sent up a silent prayer for her lost Goddaughter and her cousin.
“Well…Jenny was angry with me then, too,” Claire finally continued gently. “Even more than when I first told her. She blamed me for losing Caitlin because I…because I had the power to be in a safer time and I didn’t use it to save her. She was…very cold. For over a month.”
Jamie wet his lips and nodded in understanding.
“But…she came back around. We talked things through, both apologized…and we’re all the more closer and stronger together because of it.” Claire released his hand so she could touch his shoulder. “It will be the same for you. Just give her time to process.”
Jamie nodded solemnly.
“Ian!”
The woman in question suddenly loudly called out, likely from upstairs.
“Get up here and give yer son a thrashing!”
A little shriek shortly followed, and Claire had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing.
Ian rolled his eyes. “Suppose I should take care of whatever that is.” He stood up and made his way around the table. He clamped a hand on Jamie’s shoulder. “It’s good to have ye back, a bhalaich.”
Jamie craned his neck and turned slightly, firmly grasping Ian’s hand atop his shoulder. “Thank ye…it’s…it’s good to see you too, Ian.”
Ian smiled warmly before releasing him and making his way out of the dining room.
And then there were three.
“Fergus?” Claire said softly after a brief silence. “How are you feeling over there?”
Fergus leaned back with a sigh, his eyes widening. “How you would expect, I suppose. I thought I might faint like a woman when I saw you in the parlor, Milord.”
“Aye, thought I might as well, seein’ my mirror image in Brianna, and seein’ you so grown,” Jamie said. Fergus chuckled, but his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Jamie’s eyes flicked over to Claire, asking for guidance, permission.
“Just say what you’re feeling,” she whispered, quietly enough so that only he heard. “I can — ”
“No. Stay,” he said softly, but firmly.
Claire nodded gingerly before turning back to Fergus.
“I uh…I missed ye, lad,” Jamie began. “I thought of ye every day.”
“And I of you,” Fergus said.
“Ye see, I didna ken about Brianna, so I couldna picture her at all. But you, Fergus, I’d sit in that damned cell and I’d picture you and Claire, together. I pictured ye both taking comfort in one another, bringing each other joy. Since I didna ken about the bairn, I told myself that leaving her a son was the best thing I ever did. Ye gave me that comfort, Fergus. And I’m grateful fer it.”
Fergus’s face was impossible to read. He’d always been a very sensitive child, but as he'd grown, he’d gotten a handle on it, as was expected for young men. Claire hadn’t seen him truly cry since he’d thought she was dying in childbirth, and even then he was trying to be brave. He looked very much like he wanted to cry now, but Claire knew he’d never allow the floodgates to open, especially not in front of the man that she knew Fergus had come to see as a God.
“I uh, I knew full well that time had passed,” Jamie went on, fueled by Fergus’s lack of response. “But even still, I couldna reconcile that ye werena the same wee lad I sent off with the deed on that day. It breaks my heart that I couldna raise ye into a man myself as I wanted to.”
Fergus nodded slightly. “Maman raised me into the man you would want me to be, Milord. She was mother and father to me. For you.”
Claire thought she would burst into tears at any moment.
“Aye,” Jamie’s voice sounded tight. “I’m sure she did. Ye’re…ye’re a fine young man, mon fils. I’d be proud to still call ye my son. If ye’d have me.”
Fergus abruptly stood up, and for a moment, Claire was seized by the panic that he would dash out of the room. Instead, he stood there silently, and Claire could see several emotions warring with each other on his face. Jamie stood then, too, releasing her hand. She could see his arms trembling.
Without another word, Fergus closed the small space between them and threw his arms around Jamie, and Jamie exhaled heavily, crushing the lad to him. Claire covered her mouth to stifle a sob, silent tears trickling over the back of her hand.
“You have always been my Papa, Milord,” Fergus whispered into his shoulder.
Claire could not stop herself; she stood up and approached them, gingerly touching Fergus’s shoulder. They both welcomed her into their embrace, and Claire was so overwhelmed with love she thought she might faint. She was reminded of a moment that she’d never forgotten, a moment that she’d cherished as deeply as the moment she held Brianna for the first time:
The last time she’d held both of her boys together, right before Jamie had sent them away, when Fergus’s wee head still fit under her chin, when she and Jamie had cried into his hair, together.
A real family, for the first and last time.
But she knew now that it had not been the last time.
“Oh…my boys,” Claire murmured, craning her neck to kiss Fergus’s cheek, and then Jamie’s. “My darling boys…”
“We are together again, Maman,” Fergus kissed the top of her head. “All is well now.”
And despite her uncertainty, her inability to let go of those eight years just yet, Claire could not help but agree.
All is well now.

"kiss me again.” { Marlene for Tristan }
100  ways  to  say  ‘ i  love  you ’  sentence  starters
Tristan walked hand-in-hand with Marlene as they contemplated their next activity. Earlier he'd won her one of those ridiculously giant teddy bears from the basketball game and they'd gone on a few rides after that. Marlene had said they didn't have to do the Ferris Wheel given his inherited fear of heights, so they mostly stuck to the rides that remained close to the ground like the tilt-a-whirl and bumper cars.
However as daylight faded into night time and the Ferris Wheel lit up like a multi-colored Christmas tree, he noted the way that it drew her attention (and not for the first time). Even if she said that they didn't have to go on, it didn't meant that she didn't still want to. A feeling of utter dread filled his stomach as he stopped them walking, knowing damn well what he was about to subject himself to.
"Do you want to go on?" He asks her as she turns to him. Marlene knew what he meant as she once again stated that they didn't have to but that wasn't what he was asking. "That doesn't answer my question. Do you want to go on?" She didn’t really have to say it because he could tell that she did. That was the thing about dating his best friend; he always knew. Breathing a sigh, he glanced up at the giant wheel of doom once again before turning his gaze back to her. Hopefully his heart was as a strong as his father’s because he might otherwise die. “I’ll suck it up then.”
She seemed to light up at that, which made him happy, as she started pulling him toward the line. As they neared the front and actually got on though, he was already regretting his choices as they began to move away from solid ground. Holding onto the safety bar in a death grip, Tristan tried to breathe through the rising panic in his chest as they got higher and higher. Did this ride really have to go this high up? It seemed really unnecessary and a definite safety hazard the further up they climbed.
Eventually they reached the top and the ride came to a halt. “Oh fuck me. Why did it stop?” He breathes out in a panic before accidentally looking down. That was a big mistake as the color drained from his face and he gasped, gripping the bar so tight that his knuckles went paper white. “Jesus fucking christ!” He exclaims as he squeezes his eyes shut. “Oh God. Are we moving yet? Why aren’t we moving?”
Marlene’s hand slid over one of his and he opened his eyes again. Her touch was calming but not enough to quiet the panic attack he was currently experiencing. She seemed to sense that as her next move caught him off guard. When her lips met his, the rest of the world fell away for a moment in time and it was like his feet were back on solid earth again. As soon as it came on though, it went away. “We’re still not moving,” he murmurs as she pulls away an inch and he realizes they were still dangling in the air.
Tumblr media
"kiss me again.”
“Okay.” Tristan initiates the kiss this time per her request. Just like the first time, everything else faded into the background as he got caught up in the moment and his hand came up to cup the side of her cheek. This time their lips lingered; his mouth slowly moving against hers as the ride began to move again. By the time he finally pulled away, it was over and they had reached the bottom again.
Being the first one to get off (and he couldn’t get off fast enough), Tristan held his hand out for hers as he helped her down. “Did you have fun?” He asks as they start walking hand-in-hand again. Marlene confirmed that she did. That was the goal even if he had a hellish nightmare of a time. “I had fun too. The part where I got to kiss you, anyway. I think I’ll try to suppress the rest of it.” He was only half joking. “Where to now?”

Square Scene
A little taste of what my writing is like and some character interactions. (Still in the draft phase) A very graphic description of a panic attack and self deprecating and self hating, so just be careful
The square was too busy for his tastes: crowds of people bustled about, brushing shoulders as the hollering of vendors echoed over the obnoxious chattering of the latest gossip. Tired grey eyes scanned the sea of heads, brow furrowing in disdain at the hive of activity despite the battering heat of the afternoon sun. He hated crowds, preferring rather die than to deal with the sweaty mass of strangers. But the food stalls were on the other side of the squirming colony of bodies- of course they were -and he debated on whether or not it was worth it. Just as he turned to go back in, resigning to his fate, his stomach growled…. On second thought, he’ll do it. After all, he did promise the others food (Says he as he rolled his eyes with a scoff).
Glaring at the dense wall of people from the entrance of the inn, Jean considered his options. Try push through and run the risk of someone getting hurt? Or, go back inside and deal with the bombardment of questions that were sure to come? Hmm, decisions, decisions… Yeah, his pride wouldn’t allow for him to back down either, the gnawing hunger becoming more persistent the longer he stood there. With a long-suffering sigh, and a quick mumble of profanity under his breath, he eyed the crowd for a few more moments, nose wrinkled in disgust with what he was about to do. Then, with a swift pull, he tugged his hood down and plunged into the writhing bodies. Instant regret flooded him.
People bumped into him- Pandora knows where they’ve been -and the sick feeling of dread churned his empty stomach. The last thing he wanted to do was- stop touching me! His skin crawled at the too intimate touch of a foreign arm and resisted the urge to run, squirming uncomfortably. No, he could do this, he was fine, it's fine (can you just shut up!) Heart thudding against his ribcage, Jean pulled his hood further down, tilting his head further to avoid seeing their faces. Just a few more seconds, a few more seconds and he’ll be on the other side- he had severely underestimated how stressful crowds could be (again).
Arms going cold and numb, his limbs jerked awkwardly, muscles pulled taut as a thin sheen of sweat coated his skin as his body. He must’ve looked drunk to onlookers, hilarious even as he stumbled around like a toddler (pathetic). Everything felt so heavy, like wading through mud chin deep. He didn’t know why it affected him so much, having pondered over it many times before. But having so many people, so many pairs of eyes watching him; unable to judge their thoughts, unable to see what they’re thinking was overwhelming. His throat constricted, nearly painful with how tight it squeezed his windpipe and suffocated him (Jesus Christ).
He felt exposed, like he’d been ripped open and had his guts spilled, unravelled, and strewn about to reveal his deepest secret, leaving him raw and open for everyone to see. Jean despised the feeling of vulnerability, hated feeling helpless to stop his body from reacting like it did. A grimace contorted his face. He shouldn’t act like this, this is what a child does, cower like a weak wrench. No, he was a grown man, not a small child anymore. With that, he reluctantly rose his gaze, trying to look everywhere but the blurred faces in the crowd.
And Jean tried, he really did, but one glance to the side sent a bolt of cold terror shooting down his spine, icy water crashing over his shoulders and rooting him to the spot. It wasn’t intentional, a mere reflex flick of an eye that had seen something of interest. Between the poles of two stalls, just lurking in the shadows of the tarp, was a face. A face that had been burned into his memory, one that he’d seen over and over again in a masochistic replay of that event, one that he hoped he’d never see again. Like a punch to the gut, everything came rushing back again. He was drowning but there was nobody here to help. Not this time. This time, he was on his own. Helpless to the writhing crowd, he could only stand and stare.
Then it moved. Slithering towards him, it snaked through the bodies like it was nothing, a cruel grin hooking their lip as it twisted to the side. Every fibre of his being screamed at him to move, but that piercing gaze held him captive, unable to move or shout. Desperation clawed at his insides, tearing at flesh and tissue with serrated claws. He couldn’t breathe, couldn’t get his legs to move so he could run. The face drew closer. The stench of decay wafted towards him and the sour taste of bile filled his mouth. So close now, too close. Hysterical panic bubbled in his chest as that horrific scar curled with the delighted, malicious glee scrunching their eyes. No. No, stop, stop it, stop it! - the resonating gong of the afternoon bell split his ear and snapped him back to reality.  The last thing he saw was a rotten arm reaching out for him, blackened flesh dripping off bone before he took off in the opposite direction.
Relying on his instincts, he sprinted with wild abandon, leather boots pounding into the earth as his body worked to get him as far away from the square as possible. He was no longer conscious of where he was or where he was going, the only thing clear was his primal need to run, to escape. Lungs heaving for air, he gasped, near hyperventilating, as blood rushed to his face, taking all the back roads he knew. A part of him was vaguely aware of the voice shouting his name from behind him but stopping meant danger. Stopping meant he was going to get caught. So, he didn’t. Instead, he continued to pump his legs as adrenaline coursed through his veins, running from the invisible threat nipping at his heels.
He turned a corner and, before he knew what was going on, crashed into a solid body, nearly taking both of them to the ground. Alarm bells went off in his head; he had to keep moving, had to keep running. He couldn’t stop, wouldn’t stop. Hysteria clawed at his mind, talons digging deep until the only thing he knew was pain. Jean struggled against the eerily familiar hold, thrashing violently to get away but their grip wouldn’t let up. He didn’t even realise he was screaming until a large hand cradled the back of his neck, squashing his face into a firm, sturdy chest. His spit soaked the stranger’s clothes, mouth wide open as choked cries tore through his throat.
Gentle, somewhat gruff, hushed whispers pierced through the cotton fogging his mind, chapped lips brushing against his ear as they tumbled from the stranger- a repeated, gravelly mantra of: “Shh, it’s okay, you’re okay, it’s alright.” So soft and quiet that Jean nearly had to strain to pick them up. A pang of, something, made his heartache and he couldn’t figure out why. “Relax, you’re alright, they can’t hurt you anymore, it’s okay. Shh just relax, c’mon, that’s it, yes just relax into me. it’s okay, I’m here, I’m here.”
Slowly, Jean sagged into their hold, the strangely familiar comfort putting his mind at ease, even if for just a few seconds. Okay- a drawn out, deep sigh- okay, it’s okay. Jean allowed the person to rock him (like a damn baby), some part of him still wanting to fight it but the other part accepting it wholeheartedly. That needy, irritating side of him that irked him to no end. After mustering up the strength, he forced himself to look up, fully prepared to chew the stranger out and swear them to secrecy (politely, of course).
“I don’t usually do this and if you tell anybody about- “Stormy eyes met those nervously warm, golden eyes and all words of protest died on his tongue. Instead, words of a more aggressive and violent nature bubbled up in his chest, an involuntary growl rising in his abused throat.
 “You.”

Fuckin’ Amphibians || Anita & Nicodemus
TIMING: A few days ago. PARTIES: @professoranieves and @bountybossier SUMMARY: Anita and Nic are both out in the forest when they run across some Ballogbogs. Things get a bit psychedelic.
Anita had lived in White Crest for almost five years now. When she first arrived, she knew of a handful of supernatural beings, but her worldview expanded exponentially even within the first few months of living here. It didn’t hurt that she spent a lot of her time in the woods, mostly for the bugs partially for the isolation. But even in her years of experience, she apparently still had more to learn. In her exploring, she found herself near a small pond out in the forest. Perfect place for some interesting breeds of bugs. But then she saw them, very large and very gross looking toads. She didn’t think much of it, toads love bugs too. But as she drew closer to the pond she noticed one of the toads puff up, and then shoot something at her. “Shit, shit…” She groaned, as she tried to run before it hit her. But she wasn’t so successful. Initially she didn’t feel much of anything, and thought for a second maybe she was immune to whatever this was. But then the leaves on the trees began turning pink? And the ground began to slowly melt under her feet? No, something wasn’t quite right.
The place farthest away from the lake was the woods on damn near the other side of town. In between trying to figure out any thing that might help deal with the fucking squid, Nicodemus went about business as usual. Took up a job and saw it to completion. Traditionally, he wasn’t picky about jobs that demanded a bounty dead or alive. He took whichever. But lately, he wasn’t in the mind for killing. Just a catch and release to the shadow paying him. The task of catching a handful of fatflitters was just mundane enough that he didn’t expect to be bothered too much. The hunter tapped his fingers against his thumb as he walked, a small perforated cage in his other hand. The things were quick and liked their fatty tissue, so it was just a matter of finding the right tracks of a larger creature and hoping the quick shits were on it. The croak of toads sounded loudly to his left and he briefly looked over in that direction. Over the sound of toads, a voice. A voice that sounded a hell of a lot more bothered than he did. The hunter considered just keeping on the way he was and even as he did, he was already heading over to the noise. As he drew closer and his night vision made out the shape of a person, he looked over at the pond. Oh hell. Fucking ballybogs. They didn’t like when anyone got too close to their little domains. And it looked like the stranger had found that out. He cleared his throat to try and get her attention. “You, uh, you good?”
For a split second Anita thought she saw a person approaching, but it quickly became clear to her that this was no person, but rather a very tall and mobile ice cream cone. Interesting. It was rocky road, which wasn’t her favorite flavor. No pun intended but she really wasn’t a fan of nuts. But then the strangest thing happened, the ice cream spoke to her? No that couldn’t be. She slowly got closer to it, trying to figure out if maybe someone was just standing behind it? But no, just one singular cone of ice. “You can talk?” She asked, the disbelief thick in her voice. She sat down on the ground in front of the ice cream and dropped her head into her hands. “This ice cream cannot talk to me. This ice cream cannot talk to me.” She whispered, then rubbed her eyes and looked back up. “Fuck.” It was still an ice cream cone.
She was looking at him like she wasn’t really seeing him. Nicodemus squinted. Ballybogs made homes out of the swamps he grew up in and he had seen people when they got hit by their shit. Woodstock had nothing on what ballybog crap could do to a person. Once, a few years ago, not even he had escaped it and he was stuck trying to hop into the Mystery Machine that had just been a hollow log. The shame of that still haunted him sometimes. Fucking Scrappy Doo. “Yeah, I can talk,” he answered with a sigh. Damn it. He just wanted to find some damn fatflitters. Not this mess. When she sat down, he stepped back and put a hand on his hip. Oh hell. “This, uh, ice cream is fuckin’ talking to you. That’s me, one big damn waffle cone.” Alright, so she was seeing him as an ice cream cone. Maybe she wouldn’t feel like attacking him. He glanced down at her. “And I might be able to waffle us the fuck outta here.”
Anita was shocked when the guy? Yeah, sounded like a guy, seemed to respond to her delusions … and knew that he was a waffle cone? Anita stood up, eyeing the frosty treat with delicate suspicion. But it was almost as though the moment that he acknowledged that he was in fact a waffle cone, things began to shift. Anita began to hear odd voices coming from all around her in the forest. They weren’t speaking any language she understood, but something told her they were not nice voices. Suddenly, the nice ice cream cone began to melt, causing large puddles of melted chocolate ice cream. “Oh no.. oh my god… here let me help.” Anita tried to scoop up the puddles of ice cream and put it all back into the cone. “We can’t get out of here until I fix you… I can’t just leave you here for them to get you.”
Her eyes, large and confused, were directly on him and Nicodemus couldn’t help but feel a little scrutinized. Waffle cone or not. Jesus, he was starting to refer to himself as a waffle cone. Maybe he had been hit too. When she started to try and put dead leaves, plus bits of grass on him, he decidedly was not feeling like a waffle cone. “Alright, no need to go and do that,” he asserted as he took a step back. “Think you’re the one needin’ help here.” Surely someone else would come along and help. People in town had a habit of running headlong into shit every day. As he waited for a beat, a ballybog croak answered him. Fuck. He was the person that had run headlong into shit. And she had too. “Let’s get the hell on outta here, huh? I think somethin’ nearby is causin’ me to--fuckin’ Christ--melt my ice creamy bits all over the place.” He winced and shook his head. He was a hunter, for fucks sake. With a reserved expression, he offered a weathered hand. “Name’s Nic, alright? Let’s get on away from the fuckin’ acid trip frogs.”
Anita had been ignoring his claim that he didn’t need help getting all of the ice cream back into his cone, largely because that was just insane? Why wouldn’t a giant cone of ice cream want all of it’s contents securely inside of itself before running off? But then he finally offered a real reason. He was melting because of something nearby! Of course! Quickly, she stood up and stopped scooping up the ice cream melted in giant sticky puddles on the ground around them. Anita reached out to take the cone’s hand, finding it a bit odd that he had hands to begin with. “Nic the Ice Cream Man.” She repeated, clearly making up those last three words herself. His comment about frogs threw her for a loop. She had heard stories about supernatural frogs. As she was just about to open her mouth and say something, she saw all of the ice cream quickly melt away from Nic and the cone break off into a million tiny pieces. That’s when she realized that he really wasn’t an ice cream man… he had been a giant toad in disguise all along. She let out a soft scream, then quickly pulled her hand away from him. “You! You’re the acid trip frog!” Without paying much attention to where she was going, she began to slowly back away from him.
Nicodemus breathed in sharply through his nose, thankful as hell that she had stopped trying to help get his ice cream back together. Jesus, he was already in too deep with the ice cream bit. It was too much and he can feel a nerve pulsing somewhere near his temple. He shook her hand a bit stiffly. “Just, uh, Nic works,” he said. “The...Ice Cream Man is my father?” Whoever the hell that was. He had never met the poor bastard. And just when it had all been going so well, she looked at him like he was coming apart at the seams. Hell, he just might have been. Ballybogs spat serious shit and she had been hit with it. His hand clenched by his side before it came up to pinch the bridge of his nose. She was backpedaling towards the ballybogs again and he could see the damn things puffing up. He moved toward her and attempted to act as a buffer between. Like a dumbass would. “No. Nope, I’m not the acid trip fr--Oh fuck.” The ballybogs spat and Nicodemus blocked his hand with his face. He blinked twice, squeezed them shut, then opened his eyes to see his hands melting. His ice creamy hands with weirdly frog-like fingers but hey, he had been born with those. He stared at them for what felt like a century. “I...I think I am the ice cream frog,” he said as he looked at her. “And we gotta get out of my fuckin’ swamp.”
As the giant ice cream began to move towards Anita, she began to panic. How was she going to get out of here? She didn’t even know where here was anymore. Had she hiked here? Was her car nearby? Could she even drive like this? Unlikely. She heard a faint noise from beside her and while it took her a moment to place it, she eventually recognized it. Amphibians. And this ice cream frog was likely their king. Of course the dumb fucking amphibians still had a monarcy system. Reptiles had evolved beyond that need of hierarchy. “If you’re the ice cream frog… can’t you just make them stop! They’ll listen to you. Amphibians are really dumb.”
“Reckon they want us to move away from the party we weren’t invited to,” Nicodemus said as if it were obvious and it was. He could understand them. He splayed his hands out to his side, ice cream and all, in a sign of submission. They could respect that. “Partners. Fellas. We’re just gonna hit the, uh, old dusty trail now as it were. Didn’t mean to bother you fine folks this evenin’.” He made a sound as close to a frog as he could before he turned on his heel and took to walking away. He turned his head toward the stranger and spoke in a stage whisper. “They might not be bright but they like bein’ respected. Let’s just go on elsewhere.”
Anita watched the frog’s leader try to talk them down, finding the level of kindness he was showing them to be more than a bit annoying. In fact she might have rolled her eyes at his big performance, or maybe she just thought about rolling her eyes and actually didn’t move at all? It was really hard to tell. So she tried again, feeling pretty confident that she did this time roll her eyes and not just roll her head around in a circular motion. “Of course they’re not bright,” Anita quickly replied, not bothering to follow suit and speak in a whisper. “Why would I want to go anywhere with you? You’re like their leader or something stupid.” Despite her resistance, Anita followed this strange somewhat suave smooth-speaking ice cream man. At least wherever he was going was away from here, and away from those fucking frogs.

That Path We Tread | bea, blanche, luce, nell, nic, & winston
TIMING: Right after this. LOCATION: Bea’s necromancy clearing. PARTIES: @nelllraiser @beatrice-blaze @divineluce @danetobelieve @harlowhaunted SUMMARY: Help. They're dying. I need help. Warnings: Vomit tw, body horror tw
Like a jacked mother possum with all the children on the back.
Exhausted, Winston wrapped their arm more tightly around Bea. Watching Nell and Luce and Blanche. Everything had gone wrong. They’d got her back. Bea was alive. But everyone was fucked up. Winston could barely stand. Fuck they could barely feel like they could breath. They were so hot. Their phone would work to call an ambulance. Sweat poured down their back soaking their shirt. Whenever Winston tried to operate their phone it just refused to work, the screen crackling and it overheating whenever they went near it. So right now it was lying on top of their bag. They spotted someone coming and tried to scramble to their feet before spotting the biggest, burliest man they’d ever seen. The type of man you definitely wouldn’t want to see on a dark night in the forest. Winston had never been more overjoyed to see Nic in their life. Heart swelling with relief, Winston basically choked back a sob of emotion before gaining their composure. “Nic, Nic!” Winston shouted at him, “Fuck, please you need to help, we need to get Luce to a fucking hospital and I can’t get my phone to work and I’m too tired to move Bea and Nell and, fuck, please, help us.” They looked at him pleadingly. Why the fuck was it like one hundred degrees at midnight?
Help. They’re dying. I need help. Nicodemus hadn’t expected anything good to come from what it was they were doing. It was out of his area of expertise, sure, but what was asked of him wasn’t. His expression grew bitter and he moved as soon as his eyes passed over help. Follow the smell of blood and burnt flesh. His empty stomach roiled as he neared the clearing and broke through brush. The smell was thick in his nose and throat. Jesus fucking Christ, what had they all done? Everyone was damn near injured and briefly, he wondered if an attack of some sort happened. There sure as shit was a body. He didn’t know shit all about magic. Had it gone the way they wanted? As he processed, his eyes shot over to Winston. “Fuckin’ shit, Winston,” he said as he walked over in long strides. Put a hand on their shoulder as if it might steady. “It’s alright.” He wasn’t sure about it even as he said it but he understood what they asked of him well enough. “Gonna get y’all outta here.” He sought out Nell and tried to keep the worry from spilling out. She was alive. Luce was alive. Blanche was too. Where the smell of blood came thickest, he saw Bea. ...Maybe alive? “...Well alright,” he said carefully. He didn’t feel the need to reach for his knife but he eyed her warily. He took in a heavy breath before he looked at Blanche. “You got your car?”
Luce started breathing again soon after she began CPR, but not after Blanche heard the crack of Luce’s ribs. She was bent awkwardly over Luce, whispering to her not to move and that she was going to be okay. At some point, she had shrugged off her white jacket and handed it to Nell. “Arms. Wrap them as best you can. Please.” Before going back to make sure Luce was alright. Bea was fine - or, well, as fine as she could be, if a little disoriented. “Luce, it’s okay don’t worry. Don’t move. You can’t move yet.” Blanche whispered again, brushing her hair out of her face just as Winston began shouting Nic’s name. She almost forgot she texted him, but relief and hope hit her as she practically sprang to her feet. “Nic!” Blanche cried. “We need to get them to the - oh. My car? Yes. That way.” Blanche pointed down the slight path. “Not even 10 minutes, I pulled up as close as I could. But I can’t carry them myself. I think Nell can walk. Winston can, maybe. But Luce - I think she had a heart attack? And Bea - she’s confused. And - I need help. We need help. Please.” Blanche rushed through the facts as fast as possible, looking at the others in concern.
“Nic?” Nell’s confused voice pervaded the air, unable to make sense of where the hell he’d come from in the middle of all this chaos. Nevertheless, a way of utter relief slammed into her as he arrived, knowing that if Nic was here- everything would be okay. He’d proven more than once just how capable his hands were, and by now he had a way of making Nell fell calm, like everything was in control when he was around. The jacket that Blanche had given her to cover her arms was already soaked through only a few moments after she put it on, and everytime she so much as moved- the way the fabric brushed against her skinless arms just made the excruciating pain start anew. Thankfully, the peeling had finally stopped near the tops of her arms. “She’s okay?” Nell asked tentatively, scared of the answer that she might get. Which sister was she even talking about? Bea or Luce? Both. She needed to know that both were alright. Now that the initial panic amongst them had subsided, she looked to Bea, her heart stopping in her chest as her sister sat there, staring back with open eyes that were alive. “Bea?” she asked nervously. Had she come back right? Bea had said her name, hadn’t she? Both Nell’s and Luce’s. She knew them. That was a good sign, right? What was left of Nell’s magic began to try and stitch her arms back together, but instead of growing new skin, the tips of her hands simply scabbed, nothing more.
The world was swimming. It felt like Bea had just spun around in an office chair so many times she could count. It was enough to make her nauseous. Listing away from Winston, she heaved, nothing more than bile left her. She looked up to see Nic standing over her and Winston and squinted her eyes. “Brownies?” She slurred at the hunter, unable to think of anything meaningful to say to him. She had no idea why he or Winston was here, but she was very grateful to see them. She knew her and her sisters weren’t capable of taking care of themselves at this point. Her head lolled over to look at Nell, reaching a shaking hand out to her youngest sister. “Nellie,” She rasped again, trying to focus on the younger woman. “You’re… hurt.” It took more strength than Bea realized to be speaking. Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath. “We…” She took a deep breath before speaking again, eyes slipping closed as she tried to force words from her mouth. “... Need to go.” It wasn’t good for them to spend any more time in this circle. She could feel the grass around her already withering. They had to get somewhere less shrouded in death if they wanted to have any time to breathe.
Struggling to their feet, Winston turned to assess the situation. Honestly, everything hurt. Their head was swimming and they couldn’t think clearly. Everything was so hot. It hadn’t been this hot earlier and Winston pulled their jacket off and staggered over to their bag. Stuffing everything inside, they couldn’t help but notice that their phone was still being weird. But that was a problem for later and Winston had to make sure that everyone got out okay. Even if they felt terrible. Sweat had already drenched their clothes. Staggering back to Nell, Winston helped her to her feet without touching her skin. It looked, well it looked painful and Winston was pretty sure that was the second or third white jacket that Blanche was going to have to replace now. “I agree,” Winston pulled their inhaler out of their jeans and sucked down several puffs, “we need to get Luce and Nell to a hospital and Bea too really.” Winston wasn’t sure how they were going to explain this. “Nic, I don’t think Luce can walk, I don’t know about Bea either… do you think you could,” Winston gestured awkwardly at them before miming at lifting motion, “y’know?”
The hardened edge that had settled over Nicodemus’s face softened by a fraction when Nell spoke to him. “It’s me, kid. I gotcha,” he said as he looked at the red jacket that covered her arms. At her question, he glanced over to her sisters. Far as he could tell, they were, but he had a sneaking suspicion that would fade the longer they lingered. He swallowed down the feeling in his throat and nodded at Winston. “Yup, gonna get y’all there.” How he had come to be the safety net and wrangler of a bunch of magical younglings, he didn’t know. It didn’t bother him in the slightest. With apprehension, he looked at Bea and for a moment didn’t breathe. Brownies. Well, at least it wasn’t a knife. Slowly, he nodded at her. “Didn’t have time to put the fuckin’ oven on,” he muttered dryly as he shrugged off his top layer and threw it around her. “Gonna need you to get on my back here in a second, Bea. Gonna get Luce and then we’re goin’.” The middle sister’s breath was faint but her heart was still in it. The hunter could feel it as he looped an arm under her shoulder and the other under her legs. He walked back over to Bea, Luce in arms, and crouched. “Ain’t gonna drop you. Just hold on as best you can, alright?” As soon as she was on and secured, they could get gone from whatever the fuck had transpired.
“Be careful. Her ribs,” Blanche said quietly to Nic has he scooped Luce up in his arms. “Please. I - she - CPR.” It was the only explanation she could manage to get out. At least she was breathing. At least it didn’t take her long to start breathing again. At least Luce was alive. She looked between Bea and Nell, almost guiltily as he Nic crouched to Bea could climb on. God, Bea was confused, but lucid enough to know that they had to get out of here and that Nell was hurt. That was a good sign. Or, she hoped it was a good sign. She didn’t actually know.  Blanche looked at her one stark white jacket now stained red from Nell’s arms. Bile rose in her throat and she coughed once - twice - no. Not now. Blanche swallowed it back, shaking her head as she inched closer to Nell and Winston. “Do either of you need help?” Blanche asked quietly. She could help the both of them, if they needed it. Nic would take care of Bea and Luce and they would all get to the care and it would be fine. They just needed to get to her fucking Jeep.
The hospital? Even now Nell’s stomach turned nervously at the word, that place always making her anxious. But Nisa wasn’t here, and even if their mother had been- she wouldn’t be able to see them all at once. And something was very wrong with Luce. Why had she just collapsed like that? As Bea touched her, Nell half expected that same, clammy touch she’d felt when she’d picked up Bea’s body from the god forsaken death site in the woods to take her to Nic. When she’d first died. But there it was thrumming away underneath Bea’s skin, and though her sister’s jostling hurt, she wouldn’t have traded the feeling of Bea’s hand for anything in that moment. “You’re- you’re here.” Again, it seemed that everything she’d been keeping carefully locked up these last few weeks were surging forwards, and something about Bea caring that Nell was hurt caused more tears to fall down her cheeks. Her sister was alive, breathing, and could care again. A true reunion would have to wait when everyone needed medical attention, but Nell was already yearning for it. “Thank you,” she said to Winston as she tested her feet, somewhat unsteady, but able to walk despite the burning of her injuries. “I can walk. Let’s go.” They needed to get Luce and Bea to the hospital, to actual help. Ever so slowly, her arms were beginning to magically scab over, leaving a rough trail up to the middle of her forearms. Still no new flesh to be told of, though.
Her eyes were finally beginning to adjust and Bea recognized that she was meant to do something now. She didn’t want to stop looking over Nell, but Luce was dying and the littlest Vural was bleeding so much Bea wasn’t sure how she could be standing. She pulled herself onto Nic, grimacing as she realized she was still covered in blood. “Thank you,” She told him softly. Fragments of memories were starting to flow through her. Find someone willing to take care of me. She didn’t know who she said those words to, but something told her that Nic was this person. Her eyes trailed back to Luce, fierce now, she was not allowed to die. She wasn’t even allowed to think about dying. Bea would personally bring her back to scream at her for dying. Even if it would have been Bea’s fault for asking for this. She wanted to lay her head down and fall asleep, but the necromancer forced her eyes to stay open. She could not fall asleep when her sister was on death’s doorway.
Winston’s head was swimming. A dull throb rang over and over and over and over again. But they kept plodding onwards. Sweat pouring down their back. It was so goddamn hot. They took another step. The grass golding beneath the soles of their shoes. Then another step. Then another. They could feel the energy surging within them and Winston knew that something was wrong. They stopped dead in their tracks. The group continued around them. Their breath quickened. Their heart was racing. Their blood pulsed. It felt like it was boiling within them. Why were they so hot? Everyone was a few feet away. It struck them, a groan in their stomach, a bead of sweat trickled down their face and suddenly they couldn’t help themselves. A moan of pain erupted from their stomach and as Winston opened their mouth to make a sound, a roiling wave of fire exploded from their mouth. They did their best to point it towards the sky, and avoid burning anyone. It lasted for a few seconds maybe, but it left Winston doubled over and curled up in the grass. “Oh, fuck, I don’t feel so good,” they groaned.
The hunter was careful not to jostle the two Vural sisters as he walked. They needed to get away from the clearing. Away from the body and the blood and whatever else. Nicodemus paused as Winston groaned and immediately, his eyes shot over to them. Shit. It wasn’t likely that he could bundle them up on top of the two he already carried. And then Winston spat fire. He blinked. Alright. What the fuck was happening to all of them? “...Get ‘em up,” he said to Blanche, not too unkindly. Each minute they lingered, the worry kicked up in his pulse. What good would it be if they all died out in the fucking field? Nah, he was tired of people dying and he reckoned the lot of them were too. “Please. We gotta get. We gotta get ‘em all--” He didn’t finish as he started up again, quicker but no less careful, towards Blanche’s jeep. His eyes narrowed as a storm of thoughts clouded his head. He could sort it out later. As the rest grew closer to the jeep, he spoke up again. Something told him it was necessary. Especially after whatever the hell she might’ve seen and he carried the aftermath of. “Blanche, when we get ‘em all in, let me have your keys. You ain’t drivin’.”
Fuck, Winston just breathed fire. Blanche sprang back from them with a low shriek, staring at them, aghast. “What - “ But there was no time. Nic told her to grab them, pull them up, and she listened. Blanche hadn’t liked the feeling of this place since Bea had shown it to them weeks before, but now the feeling of death and despair clung to the air, making it thick and suffocating. She pulled Winston to their feet, careful to help them walk.  The walk to the Jeep wasn’t terrible. Blanche was hyper focused on it: Get everyone there, get everyone to the hospital, make sure everyone was okay. “Luce and Bea - lay them in the trunk. Nell and Winston can have the back. By the windows.” As the black jeep came into sight, she almost started crying in relief, and she almost missed what Nic said. The car unlocked and she was already shuffling Winston into the back seat and rounding the body of the car to open the door for Nell. “What?” She stared at Nic. “I -” She what? Blanche realized how sick she felt right then. She silently held out her pink lanyard once Luce and Bea were settled, before going to sit in the passenger side. They were going to be okay. They were going to get to the hospital, and then everything would be all better.
The sound of a steady electrical beeping. Repetitive, droning. Over and over. That was what first filtered in through the darkness. Then, pain. Sharp surface level pain, stinging and fierce. And underneath it, there was a dull, heavy weight that pressed down upon her chest. With a low groan, Luce forced her tired eyes to open. A sterile white room greeted her, bright fluorescents blinding and she shut her eyes immediately. Pillows, she could feel them behind her head, and sheets oddly warm against her skin. Her chest, her chest ached. Gritting her teeth, Luce willed herself to power through the fatigue that pressed down upon her body. She opened her eyes once more, glancing around the room. She wasn’t alone-- there was another bed next to hers. Someone else lay in it. Her eyes struggled to focus, the image a blur. Finally, she realized it was Nell-- her arms wrapped up in bandages, the edges stained pink. Letting out a shaky sigh, she shifted her gaze to the chairs around the room. Four people. One small, blonde hair streaked with bits of pink. Blanche. And another, a burly man. Who was he..? The thought was pushed from her mind as she saw Winston, their face slick and shining under the bright lights.
With all the energy she could muster, Luce tilted her head to look at the last person. Familiar long tresses of dark hair, dark eyes staring back at her… “Bea.” She managed, a hint of a smile on her face. That was all the strength she could muster, her body still aching and exhausted. Her head fell back on the pillows, her eyes closing once more. A comforting blanket of weariness pressed down upon her, dragging her once more into the darkness. A sense of relief washed over her, more soothing than the promise of sleep. Bea. She was back. Nell was safe. Winston was here, Blanche as well. Her family was whole.

skz’s reaction to their s/o being a classical musician
requested by @wxnterlee!! i hope you like it, sorry it took so long hkjdhfkhsg <33
bang chan
Tumblr media
The first time he’s introduced to you is at a busking event at a christmas market
It’s the holiday season, so skz being skz they wanted to really feel that christmas spirit
But as they’re strolling, they reach this live band playing christmas tunes
And usually those mellow, low-key songs would play around this time of year but this band was anything but that
It was lively and every synonym for jolly
And as he scans the band, his eyes finally land on you
You’re playing the saxophone with so much energy and really feeling the music that his eyes are just so drawn to you
He can’t explain it, but he can’t take his eyes off of you
It doesn’t help that you’re extremely attractive either
His eyes never leave you through the entirety of the performance, and you definitely take notice
Mans is as subtle as a gun lmao
You make it a point to smile at him directly after the first set of performances because ure cheeky like that, and you immediately see him flush in the cold
So now he frequents the market and always makes sure to catch at least one performance of yours
But then one day you approach him and chan internally yells because he’s in a hetero panic
But then he chills out because you’re so warm and inviting and you both get to know each other slowly
Needless to say, the rest was history
As a boyfriend, chan is your number 1 hype man
And i mean Hype Man
He always makes it a point to watch your performances whenever he can
Esp whenever you have big recitals that get you all nervous, he’s always there no matter what to cheer you on and give you a pep talk and take you out for a celebration dinner afterwards
And he loves the way you light up when you play
The sheer passion in the way you perform and in everything you do in general makes him fall so deeply in love with you each time
He’s also a clown and never fails to try and attempt to play the saxophone whenever you have it with you
He fails miserably, but he’s cute and you love him more than anything else :’)
lee know
Tumblr media
Knowing the crackhead he is, the only reason why he was able to meet you was because instead of booking a cinema ticket for frozen 2, he booked a musical titled Frozen II
The show had nothing to do with badass sisters and magical talking stones (it was some winter musical or sumn, minho wasn’t sure), and the moment he realised this, he was all pouty
But then he scanned over the orchestra and thought that for once his dumbass worked with him and not against him
Because there you sat, looking as ethereal as ever, playing the harp
He swore up and down you were a goddess
Like, hera or aphrodite’s reincarnate
The only magic he saw that night was you, and he was more than happy about that
He tried his hardest to meet you, to tell you what an amazing job you did, but alas, he couldn’t reach you because visitors weren’t allowed to go backstage
So he got all sulky and :(( as he exited the theatre
But by a miracle, as he was walking back to his car, he saw a certain someone struggling with bags and equipment of all sorts as they walked out of the back entrance, and minho’s heart skipped a beat when he realised it was you
Of course he rushes to help you bea=cause chivalry
And he makes it a point to compliment you and make small talk as he helps you to your car
As fate would have it, the two of you become good acquaintances, then close friends, and even closer more-than-friends until you finally had the guts to just ask him to be your boyfriend and you don’t even take a breath before he says yes
Minho as a bf is minho as a bff but on lsd i swear to god
He already goes to majority of your performances, but when that boy is cuffed jesus christ he makes sure he’s in the front row for every damn performance no matter how small
You’re his harp-playing goddess who walked straight out of eden in his eyes, how could he not???
He’s also humorously afraid to go near your harp because he knows the moment he’s within arms length from it, something will go wrong
Being the weirdo he is he always finds a way of personifying your harp and whining about how you spend much more time with it than with him
And you’re like??? And he’s all like :(((
So you just have to give him a cuddle and boop
Ugh what a cutie
changbin
Tumblr media
Dark rapper meets classy cello player????
An aesthetic.
Because you both are polar opposites in the music world, the only reason you knew about him is because your mutual friend had dragged you to an underground rap battle (much to your dismay) as a way to “get you out of your shell”
As much as you thought you’d hate it, you really enjoyed yourself
Esp when you laid your eyes on Changbin
Just everything about his aura was so enthralling to you and you so desperately wanted to get to know him and asked your friend to introduce you, but to no avail :((
After that, you didn’t really see him again
But one fateful night, unbeknownst to you, your friend had dragged changbin all the way to your music studio because he was in desperate need of a recording booth as the ones in the company were all occupied
When he entered, what he did not expect was to witness an absolute daydream right before his eyes
You sat inside the booth playing the cello, recording a snippet of a symphony you so desperately needed practice on, and hadn’t noticed them walked in, too concentrated on the music sheet in front of you
But oh god, to say changbin was impressed was an understatement
Dang he thought he produced good music, but the music that you made????
Absolutely magical.
When you ended the piece and looked up, you almost had a heart attack
Literally jumped out of your seat a lil bit because they both were just staring at you
But once you both introduced yourselves, it was like you both were two sides of the same coin
You both grow closer and realise that you really are opposites of each other
But in a good way??? like everything is so complimentary
So you shared your playlist of symphonies and he shared his playlist of lyrical masterpieces and these songs suddenly become the soundtrack to your love story
Ugh he’s such an amazing boyfriend because he helps you with his recordings and vice versa
You’re both super critical of your own work so the pair of you make it a point to remind each other of how good you’re doing
And just being with you opened up this whole new world of music for changbin
He’s so grateful for it that he can’t describe it in words
He even asks you to record small pieces so that he can add them into his music
And you have a habit of turning skz’s and his own music into cello versions
Thank god opposites attract
hyunjin
Tumblr media
Mister dancer over here loves going to dance workshops of different types
Hip-hop, contemporary- you name it
So when he signed up for a 2-week modern dance class, he definitely got more than he bargained for
He didn’t know what he was supposed to expect, but goddamnit he did not expect to have his limbs feel like they were falling apart
So after class, when everyone had left, he literally just laid on the floor all sweaty and tired wanting nothing more than to crash n sleep
But then !!
He heard a piano melody echo through the room, a mix of melancholic yet romantic notes floating through the air
And when he lifted his head up to look for the source of the sound, his eyes settled on your figure at the other end of the hall
As it turns out, you were the pianist for this specific studio and for all modern dance productions
You didn’t notice him at all- mostly because the lights were dimmed and mans was too busy dying on the floor to make his presence known
But dear lord did your music make him feel some typa way
He just wanted to dance to it, express himself through it
So once you finished, he just clapped from where he was on the floor without getting up
Think lazy seal on its back
Nevermind the fact that he literally almost made you scream
But you both introduced yourselves properly to one another, and let’s just say that hyunjin started to look forward to his bone-breaking classes a lot more than he would’ve thought
At first it was purely because he thought u were cute and he had a middle school crush on you
But then as the days progressed, he found himself more and more drawn to you and the way you played the piano
Always so concentrated and the expression on your face mimicked the piece you were playing
And agghfhf he loved being able to dance to your melodies
So when his lil 2-week excursion was over, he was all :(((((((((((((x10009283 because he knew he wouldn’t be able to see you as often
So he mustered up all his strength to ask you out on a proper date
Now, when you both become official, dear lord is this man always going to ask you to play something for him
Literally the ABC’s would suffice
He’s just so smitten with you and your love for the piano that he always wants to see you play because it lights up your entire face
And when you compose pieces just for him to dance to, his heart m e l t s
He also always begs you to teach him, but he’s such a flirt that not much teaching goes on lol
It makes me feel loopy imagining hyunjin dance to the melody his s/o plays like do u feel me ohmygod idk what to do w myself
han
Tumblr media
Han’s first encounter with you was purely accidental
Like a literal accident
As in, he was just walking down the sidewalk not really paying attention when he ran into you
You, a clumsy violinist who had just exited your apartment complex in a rush to get to your lesson that you were already late for, suddenly found yourself knocked over and on the sidewalk in a daze
Jisung was h o r r i f i e d
He rushed to your aid, helping your disoriented self stand up but
Your fall was the least of your worries
Because there, strewn across the sidewalk, was your life your love your baby
Your violin
You rushed to it and inspected it for any dents and scratches and phew
Thank god your hard case protected it for the most part, save for minor dents and scratches
So you let out a breath and finally face the culprit of your heart palpitations
And suddenly you’re given a different set of heart palpitations because big, round eyes of an extremely, unfairly handsome man looks at you with concern and guilt and you suddenly forget how you ended up there in the first place
Lots of apologies from han’s side and he offers to buy you a drink
But you’re in a rush so you tell him nah
But he’s like pls pls and so you’re like but i have to go and he’s like i’ll wait for u and you’re like O-O o-ok,,,
So he sits awkwardly outside your practice studio, but the moment he hears and sees you play through the glass window, he feels the wind knocked out from his chest
So now he just makes it a point to get to know you by asking you out more and more
Like changbin, when you both become a thing, your relationship revolves so much around your mutual love of music
And he lovesss getting to help you improve and vice versa
And on your one year anniversary he bought you a replacement violin to make up for the one he scratched up during your first meeting and you’re just like :’)))) i would’ve destroyed my violin a thousand times if it meant getting to meet you :’)))))
felix
Tumblr media
Like minho, it’s Felix’s sheer crackheadness that allows fate to cause the two of you to meet
Like one day he decides on a whim that he wants to learn the viola so he books classes on the first learning centre he sees on the internet
But when he got to the class,,,,
As it turns out, the one that he booked was for beginner kids, not beginner adults
Cue tiny heads plus yours snapping to the door and staring at a blushing felix
Not only did he just embarrass himself in general, but the moment he saw how attractive you were he just wanted the world to swallow him whole
But he paid a good amount of money for it so he sucks in his cheeks and decides to stay for the class
He’s so awkward when he comes into the room ksdfjs you find it so cute because even though he’s like more than twice the height of the kids, his face and expression are just as small
You introduce yourself and vice versa, and you begin teaching everyone the basics
Immediately felix has a crush on you
And he wonders whether there’s a big age gap because uhm you’re a teacher and he’s a student
But turns out you do this as a side job and are a performing arts school student with the same age as him and he’s just like :DDD
So now he always makes sure to come to class on time
Actually, even earlier than on time because he wants to get some alone time with you before the rest of the class cockblocks intervenes
And slowly you both develop a strong bond
Even though he’s a crackhead and it’ll take you 2757264597 years to explain to him the difference between a viola and a violin, you don’t mind because at least with him being your boyfriend, you can give him a kiss to shut him up abt it :)
Even after his viola classes ended and you both became official, he still had a lot of interest in learning that instrument so you always teach him
And he offers to pay for lessons but you always reject it because duh hello you’re my bf shutup just give me a kiss and buy me ice cream instead??
And he teaches you a thing or two about dance, even though you look like those blow-up mascots in front of car dealerships whenever you do
He thanks the universe that he’s goofy and a crackhead, because at least he now has you :))
seungmin
Tumblr media
So on a trip to a jazz house is when seungmin first met you
Yes, a jazz house
Don’t ask why but skz just wanted to go okay let them be
They watched multiple groups perform and were having the time of their lives
But something about you just caught seungmin’s eye
You were apart of the last group coming to perform and you played the double bass
He thought you looked so goddamn cool and slick whenever you played
And he found it adorable the way the instrument was almost the exact same size as yourself
Like chan, he’s about as subtle as a gun with the way he looks at you
And he’s so enthusiastic during the performance, always hooting and clapping after each song
And you take notice and find him so absolutely adobable because who wouldn’t
And after the performance he even yells encore so loudly and the rest of skz just laughs at his antics
But mans is so shy to approach you afterwards
He can barely move towards you
It takes a jeongin a hyunjin and a whole ass changbin to mentally and physically push seungmin to say hi to you
And after a whole 10 minutes of convincing, he finally does
And you both talk and talk and talk that he doesn’t realize all the boiz left him
Traitors
So the two of you make plans to meet up another day
Another day becomes two
Then three
Then ten
And soon enough (after much pushing again from the entire skz) he asks you to be his officially
He always tries to show up to any and all of your gigs, big or small
And he’s sooooo boastful about it it’s so cute like he’ll have videos saved on his phone of you playing and send them to anyone and everyone
His parents, the skz gc
Almost sent it to jyp himself too lmao
You’re just so cool to him that he wants the rest of the world to know it as well
But, like minho, he won’t go near your instrument
He’s so intimidated by it it’s hilarious
So he sticks to watching it from afar and hfkjhkgjfh
Big smooch
i.n
Tumblr media
During a music event is when jeongin first laid eyes on you
But not because he saw you perform
Your performance group shared the same backstage lounge as skz and everyone was just getting to know each other
And you and jeongin really clicked well because you both were the youngest and the same age
He had absolutely no clue who u were tho and he didn’t want to be rude so he didn’t ask what kpop group u were from
But as it turns out you weren’t apart of a kpop group at all
You were apart of an orchestra doing a special stage and you played the flute and jeongin was just like O_O when he found out
You played the flute and damn did u play it well
Jeongin just stood in front of the screen astounded and seungmin did not and will not stop clowning him for it
After it ended, jeongin was quick to congratulate and compliment you
And he rambles about how it was so unexpected and you blush so much because he’s so cute
And so you both exchange numbers and frequently text from then on, becoming really good friends
And then slowly developing feelings for each other
Cue cute highschool confession tingz
Jeongin as a bf is super adorable
He’s always asking you to send voice notes of you playing the flute
But not just to any song
He’ll request crackhead ones like the wii music, some trot song, into the unknown
And you’re just like????? Okay, my quirky king
And in return you force him to send voice notes of him singing more trot songs
He attempts to play your flute
But he always messes up but he’s so adorable that you tell him he’s doing great just so that he keeps playing cutely
:’))))))))))
choosing to do ot8 now,,, it’s difficult to imagine skz as ot9 in my head then be brought back to reality of ot8.. please understand :( but i will take separate woojin requests

Highland Destiny Chapter 21 ~Faith and Hope~
"Jaaaa-mie, breakfast is ready!"
Jamie smelt burned food as he came out of the shower and walked into the adjoining bedroom. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he sat on the slipper chair to check his phone.  Burnt waffles!   He smiled. This was Claire's third attempt in the week in making waffles after revealing that he loved them.
"Jamie, is there really a need for Angus to drive me to the doctor's today? Surely, I can go by myself. My car hardly gets used, and really, it needs a run." Claire ambled into the bedroom with a mug of black coffee, wearing a short silk floral blue robe loosely tied around her waist, her stomach protruding at the opening.
Jamie sighed, looking up to his wife. "Sassenach, we've been through this before. I can't have ye walking around on yer own in town while I'm away in Paris. I can't take any chances with all the headcases crawling out of the woodwork."
The news of Jamie's marriage had spread like wildfire when they returned to Inverness three and a half months ago. He hadn't liked the intrusion on Claire's privacy as the press found out the identity of his wife. There were several candid pictures taken of her in town and unscrupulously published in a tabloid newspaper. The last straw was when Jamie's representatives had intercepted hate mails and messages on his public social media accounts. Although most were petty and seemingly harmless, one message was traced to Laoghaire MacKenzie's brother with death threats. The threats came after it was revealed that the MacKenzie/Christie case may be taken to the Scottish High courts.
Fearing for his wife's safety, more than his own, Jamie had ensconced themselves in his penthouse apartment with the round the clock security surveillance. He loathed leaving the cottage since it was the first place Jamie had felt at home since leaving Lallybroch, and for the most part, Claire loved it there. Jamie was aware it would have been a matter of time before the media discovered their hideaway, and he was mindful that Tom Christie knew the address of the cottage.
Claire stood in front of him with an exaggerated pout as she handed him the coffee. Jamie knew his wife was restless after being relieved from work after a photographer had nearly hampered an emergency case Claire was working on; moreover, there was the doctor's warning about stress because of her high blood pressure.
Jamie took the coffee off Claire's hand and placed it on the table. He undid her robe to kiss her belly before pulling her down onto his lap, her legs straddling him. "Now Sassenach, ye promise me ye'll not try to lose Angus this time. The poor man was almost out of his wits with worry the last time ye tried to abscond. I know ye don't like the security and the fuss, but we have the baby to think about now, aye? And I'm so sorry I cannae be with ye for the doctor's appointment." He leaned forward for a kiss, his large hands firm on her hips. "Mmm, ye taste of hazelnut chocolate spread."
"I promise." Claire sighed as her arms snaked around his neck. "Besides, I have a project that I'm working on, and I'll need Angus' brawn with the shopping, so I need to stay on his good side. Shall I message you later when I find out the gender of the baby?"
"Ye can call me anytime, Sassenach, but no... I want the gender of our baby to be a surprise. But keep me updated what the doctor says about yer health." Jamie's first and foremost concern was Claire's well being as he tried to push away thoughts of how his mother had died, giving birth to a stillborn child. He didn't want to leave her, but he needed to sort out some paperwork in Paris concerning Château Cheval Blanc.
"Alright then, if you want it to be a surprise, the baby's room is off-limits to you. I plan to decorate it while you're away, and Geillis and Gail promised to come around to help with some ideas."
"Mmmm...off-limits. Got it. Now let see what delectables you have for my breakfast," Jamie breathed nuzzling her neck as he slipped off Claire's robe down her arms.
"Jamie! We just did it this morning, and you have a plane to catch!" But his warm breath against her skin was already sending tingling sensation down her spine.
Jamie ignored her remark. "Christ Sassenach, yer tits are so massive, and yer arse is so plump and round." He nibbled her earlobe delicately, one hand cupping the weight of her breast and another squeezing her arse, as he pulled her closer to his hard arousal. "Feel that Sassenach, that's what ye do to me when ye walk around half-naked. Damn, ye're so bonnie...so sexy," he whispered in a ragged voice.
"And you're so ravenous and insatiable...how are you going to survive a few days in Paris, huh?" Claire whispered as her hips started to move against him, pulling his head down to her breast. She smiled as he groaned, his hip movements matching her own.
Impatiently, Jamie raised Claire by the hips to pull down her panties and whipped off his towel before lowering her down to his cock. Then he reached down to their adjoining nakedness and stroked her sensitive spot. "Weel, ye just have to talk dirty to me tonight on the phone. They call it in French,  en libre service ." He chuckled softly as he heard her gasp, knowing she was shocked and roused at his suggestion.
Claire's head lolled back as Jamie bent his head to tease a nipple. " En libre service?  Alright Jamie, tell me more about it...what would you like to hear as by way of example..." she whispered as a whimper escaped her lips.
Jamie raised his head from her breast, and with one hand behind her neck, pulled her closer. As Claire began to rock more frantically against him, he whispered all the naughty things he intended to do to her once he was back from Paris.
.........
Joe had suggested accompanying Claire to see the doctor, which he had done on previous occasions as Jamie had been very busy with work. He had recommended as soon as she was back from Lallybroch to make an appointment for a screening test, acknowledging that there was a high probability of abnormality with her baby after she had ingested ketamine a few weeks back. Joe had voiced his concern to Claire, but she had been adamant that whatever they find wrong with the baby, she refused to terminate her pregnancy. Joe knew if Jamie had found out that there was a risk of developmental challenges, disability or risk to Claire's life, he would have had wanted a say as Joe had known how his mother had died. Stubborn as Claire was, she had prohibited Joe from voicing his concern to Jamie, thinking this was probably the only chance she'll ever be pregnant. As it turned out and much to his relief and surprise, and after a series of doctor's appointments, Claire and her baby were in perfect health. And today they were about to find out the gender.
"Are you excited, LJ? I'd say though, you look massive for 21 weeks," he chortled as he looked her over on the examination bed and held her hand. "Importantly though, I'm glad that you're passing through all examinations with flying colours and you're positively glowing."
Claire's face turned a shade crimson as she thought of Jamie, secretly attributing her glow from their lovemaking earlier in the day. "You know, as much as I'm enjoying this pregnancy, I can't wait for the baby to be born. Jamie is driving me nuts with his worry. He has enough on his plate already, and he still insists on cooking when he comes home from work. And for crying out loud, he even hired a cleaner to come twice weekly. And he's so paranoid with the trial, he had the cleaner screened thoroughly."
"Well, after what you've been through, coupled with being a first-time parent, I can hardly blame him. And you missy, knowing how stubborn you are, you tend to do as you please which makes all the more difficult for him. Go easy on Jamie...you know how much he loves you and with his mother's history..."
Claire sighed. "I know, I know. It's just so difficult not doing anything but I guess, I'll be busy enough doing the nursery."
"Mrs Fraser, Dr Abernathy, hello, are we ready for the scan?" Claire and Joe turned towards the door as her doctor, Dr Grant, a woman in her fifties and a female sonographer walked in. "We've done this before, and it shouldn't take long, so whenever we're ready..."
Indeed it was all very a standard routine test, and Claire only felt the mild discomfort of the coldness of the lubricating gel slathered onto her belly, and the handheld probe pressing near her full bladder, making Claire want to burst. When the first images appeared on the screen, she could hardly make out any semblance as the monitor was not in her direct vision, but she could hear soundwaves coming from the ultrasound probe. But when Joe's head tilted funnily and his brows furrowed, Claire became worried.
"Joe, what is it?" Trying to suppress a rising panic, she tried to turn her head around to her side to take a look at the screen monitor, but she couldn't make out the images.
Joe's eyes were about to pop out. "Is that what I think it is?" he asked nobody in particular.
"Joe!!!!! For fuck sake Joe, what is it?!?"
Dr Grant smiled. "Congratulations Mrs Fraser...it looks like you're expecting twins."
"Twins? There was no mention of twins in Claire's previous examination," Joe said with utter disbelief.
"Well, they call it the hidden twin and sometimes they're not detected until later. See here?" Dr Grant pointed, "There's the second baby. And it's quite clear from here the twins are girls."
"Sweet Mother of Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ! Jamie wanted a surprise... well... he's definitely in for a surprise."
..........
"Och twin girls, Claire, double the trouble an' double the fun. Ah bet Jamie nearly had a heart attack," Geillis smirked as she danced around the nursery, not really concentrating in measuring the walls for wallpaper.
Claire was sat in a reclining chair she had recently bought, sipping cold lemon water as she watched her friend. "Jamie doesn't know."
"What? Why didnae ye tell him?" Geillis stopped mid-twirl.
"Well, I did ask him before he left for Paris if he wanted to know the result of the scan and Jamie said he wanted it to be a surprise. And surprise he will get." Indeed a surprise considering Claire was still in a state of shock. She had yet to wrap her head around the prospect of having twins, let alone the impact it would have on their lives and her career as a doctor. She had wanted, after her maternity leave, to complete her residency at the Northern Royal Infirmary, instead of continuing to work at the Scottish Ambulance Service. Murtagh had thought too that it was for the best as he didn't want any more press lurking around the emergency department.
"But Claire, he was probably talkin' aboot the gender. Surely he would want tae ken how many mouths he has tae provide for. No' that he cannae afford it,"
"Good Lord, Geillis, it's bad enough him knowing I have a baby...imagine what he would be like when he finds out we're having twins. So promise me that you'll zip your mouth, alright? The only people who know about the twins are Jenny, Joe and you. So not a word!"
Geillis made an action of zipping her mouth, her cheeks dimpling wickedly. "That wee secret of yours will be hard tae keep an' surely, Jamie will start to wonder you're unusual size at yer next stage of pregnancy. An' how about the bairns' shower? An' the nursery? How will ye keep that all a secret from Jamie?"
Claire waved the key to the nursery room. "The nursery is off-limits to Jamie, and he knows that too, but as a precaution, in case he does get tempted to take a peek, the door will be locked. And Jamie will be too busy at work in the next few months...he said so himself as he planned to have paternity leave. And as for the baby shower, Jenny had already offered to organise it. That woman is truly a wonder."
"Speaking of the wee fox cub, there are pictures of him in Paris hittin' the news already. The press in France sure loves him. Ah wonder how the public took the story now that he's nae longer in the single market."
"I don't want to know Geillis, and I don't read news about Jamie. I just hope he doesn't blurt out that we're having a baby because he does have that tendency. Thank God the press doesn't know about it yet, and I guess, having Angus around to drive me about and accompany me, has its perks."
.........
October
Jamie noticed his godfather came more often to the gym than he used to. Usually taken to running to keep himself fit, he had been doing a lot more strength building and trained more often with Jamie. And the change didn't stop there. Ever since Jamie was a wee bairn, he'd always only seen Murtagh with a full beard, so it was a shock when his godfather walked into the gym with a clean-shaven face.
"Dare I ask what's with the sudden change in your looks?" He tried to suppress a smile, but Jamie had a sneaking suspicion it had something to do with his aunt Jocasta. Ian had already informed him that his aunt will be flying back to Scotland soon and visiting Inverness and apparently, to be there when Claire gives birth to their baby.
"Dinna bother and one word about my beard, I'll wallop ye," Murtagh warned in a gruff voice as he started his warm-up exercises doing arm swings and standing-trunk-twists next to his godson.
Jamie didn't say another word, and Murtagh only broke the silence as they went on to their next warm-up on the stationary bicycle. "How's Beauchamp?" Despite Claire not working for the Ambulance service anymore, Murtagh continued to call her by her maiden name.
"Aye, she's braw." Jamie paused, hesitating as he pedalled vigorously on the bike. "Say, what do ye think about Claire's size? That bairn she's carrying looks massive in her tummy."
Murtagh glanced at him as if he was asking a stupid question. "Weel, with yer muckle size, what did ye expect? Obviously, the baby must take after ye...size-wise that is."
"Hmm, I've never seen a pregnant tummy that huge. I'm just worried about Claire...she can hardly get off the chair, and she tires easily. Do ye think that's normal?" Jamie asked, reflectively.
"I dinna ken. Why ye asking me? Ask yer sister," Murtagh muttered as he doubled his efforts on the bike.
"I did. I know Jenny has more experience when it comes to pregnancy, but she just dismissed it as Claire being a tall lassie. She said, the taller the lass, the bigger the tummy. That doesna make any sense at all."
"When is she due?"
"In two months...December she said. But the way I see it, she looks like she's about to pop."
Murtagh just mentally shrugged, not really interested in pregnancy talks. "Jamie, I've meant to ask ye something..."
Jamie got off the bike and waited for his godfather. When Murtagh finally finished, they walked over to the rowing machine. "What is it?"
"Aye weel, I was thinking..."
"Aunt Jocasta?"
"Ye're very perceptive! How dae ye ken?"
"For fuck sake Murtagh, I saw ye fondling my aunt's arse back in Lallybroch as both of ye dancing to slow music during the party...the whole hamlet knows," Jamie pointed out laughing, as he settled down on the rowing machine.
Murtagh's face turned red, and it was even more evident without his beard. But Jamie couldn't tell if his reddened face was down to being found out or exertion from their warm-up.
.........
November
Claire was doing some finishing touches to her hair, and as usual, her locks refused to cooperate, so she opted to leave it loose around her shoulders instead. It was aunt Jocasta's birthday, and she had the whole French restaurant booked for the venue. As Jamie was going to be late for the dinner, Murtagh and Jocasta had offered to pick Claire up on the way.
Claire was slightly worried about going to the party as she knew pregnancy with twins means she can go on to labour before the nine months term. She was already on her 37th week, and Jamie had no idea she was carrying more than one baby. Dr Grant had informed her during one of her more regular visits that at 38th week they would have to induce the birth, assuring her everything was perfect even if she had been complaining of sharp back pains. Twice, Claire had gone to the hospital with Geillis thinking it was time and each time it had been a false alarm. Despite the possibility of complication, Claire had insisted on keeping it secret, knowing Jamie was too busy with work. She wished now she had confided to more people, but Geillis had promised all will be well and to stop worrying as it was not good for the bairns.
When the doorbell rang, Claire waddled to the door, feeling slightly out of breath, as she felt shooting pain in her back. It was Murtagh on his own as he had left Jocasta in the car.
"Christ lass, are ye alright? Ye looked a bit flushed," Murtagh asked with concern in his voice.
And just as Claire had feared and of all days to happen, her water broke.
"Oh...ahh...I think I'm about to give birth," Claire breathed heavily, holding onto the door. As she felt herself sway, Murtagh, caught her in his arms just on time.
..........
Jamie was just finishing some paperwork when his godfather had called to inform him Claire was taken to the hospital. At the mention of the word hospital, he didn't let Murtagh finished his sentence and was already on his feet, dropping everything he was doing. His heart was hammering as Jamie weaved through the traffic, willing his car to go faster, cursing himself for working late. All sorts went through his head and the one memory he didn't want to think about kept resurfacing in his mind: his mother's death giving birth.  Dear God, please let her be safe.
When Jamie reached the Northern Royal Infirmary, Joe was already there to greet him. "C'mon buddy. You're about to become a da! Claire's in labour. I think the babies are too eager to come out," Joe announced calmly as he led Jamie to the lift that would take them to the maternity ward.
"Babies? Da? I thought she wasn't due until December. Murtagh only said Claire was taken to the hospital, so I presumed it must have had something to do with her high blood pressure..."   Christ, what the fuck is going on...why is Claire having the baby now?
Joe caught himself. "Erm, I mean Claire and the baby are ready. It happened so quickly, and we didn't think...Anyway, she's fully dilated and is on active labour now. The contractions are so close together...so you'll be a da anytime soon."
Fully dilated? What the fuck does that mean?  Jamie had attended only a couple of Lamaze classes with Claire, and he remembered the breathing techniques.
Joe looked at Jamie oddly. "What are you doing, Jamie?"
Jamie was doing rapid, short breaths. "Practicing for the birth? Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Christ, am I doing it all wrong?"
Joe smiled and slapped Jamie on the back. "That's Claire's job. You're only there to assist her with the breathing. C'mon, calm down. Claire's doing wonderfully, and Gail is there with her."
"Oh Christ Almighty, I'm really going to be a da. Oh God...oh God. Christ, can't this lift go any faster?" Jamie was impatiently moving around and fidgeting in the lift much to Joe's amusement.
When the lift finally opened, Joe guided Jamie through the corridors of the maternity ward, and Jamie grimaced inwardly as he heard birthing screams and moans at each door he passed by. "Right buddy, do you want to be in the room with Claire, or do you want to wait until it's over? You don't have to you know...Claire's in good hands."
Jamie didn't hesitate, as he removed his tie and stuffed it in his suit pocket. "Aye, aye. I want to be there. I'm ready." He slammed a fist on his hand, puffing big breaths out as if he's about to enter a boxing ring.
"Right, you need to wear scrubs as we're going to the operating theatre."
Jamie's face turned white. "What? Why the operating theatre? Are there any complications? I thought everything was going well?"
"Standard procedure buddy just in case the doctor deems it necessary to perform caesarian..." In actual fact and what Joe didn't tell Jamie was that most twin or multiple births are done in the operating theatre in case one of the babies refused to come out of the womb and the doctors are forced to perform a caesarian.
"Caesarian? Th-they'll cut her open? Claire had always wanted a natural birth...is it truly necessary?"
"Not necessarily...like what I said it's all precautionary. Calm down now...Claire needs you, remember that. "
A few minutes later, dressed in scrubs, a very nervous Jamie was led into the operating theatre. He stood there for a minute, dumbfounded taking the whole scene in, thinking what a pair of healthy lungs Claire had, and the sounds she was making made him tremble on his feet. Jamie saw his wife surrounded by medical staff, and there were monitors and bright lights everywhere and not the birthing room he had expected.
"YOU BEASTLY SCOT, WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?" Claire screamed as soon as she realised Jamie was there, to the astonishment and shock of the doctors and nurses. Ever since she was wheeled into the hospital, Claire had been shouting all sorts of profanities that would shock a naval officer. Even Jenny and Ian, who were attending Jocasta's party, and were immediately on the scene, was shocked but amused at Claire's very colourful use of the language.
"Mr James Fraser?"
"Aye?" Jamie's eyes darted from the doctor's face to his wife, who had a look as if she's about to commit murder, her riot of curls wild if not plastered to her perspiring face.
"Yer wife is about to give birth, you can stand here or take a stool next to her."
Jamie didn't need prodding and immediately went to Claire, nearly slipping and sliding under the operating bed from his awkward and shaky movement. As he caught himself, Jamie leaned over his wife, one arm around her head and the other, taking her hand in his. "Ssshh Sassenach, so sorry...so verra sorry. I'm here now, and I love ye...love ye to bits. And ye're so beautiful...and I love ye..." He regretted holding her hand after realising what a strong grip she had, her fingernails digging into the back of his. He winced but kept his hold firm, as his other hand stroke her hair, keeping it away from her face.
Claire let out another howl as she pushed with her back. "I FUCKING HATE YOU JAMIE FRASER. LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME. WAIT TILL I GET MY HANDS ON YOUR BALLS.....AAAAAHHHHHH!"
Jamie swallowed audibly as he felt Claire's body convulsed with pain. He closed his eyes, wishing he could take the pain away from her, and for once, he felt utterly useless.
"I can see the head Mrs Fraser, just a little bit more," a gentle voice reminded Claire, as she prepared to push, her face contorted in pain.
Jamie's face was as white as the hospital's bedsheets, as Claire grunted and his heart thundered between his ears. His wife's nails, earlier digging painfully into the back of his hand was no longer felt as he heard the sound of a baby's wail to rival his wife. The room suddenly spun, and Claire's cries and the medical staffs' mutterings became distant. "Congratulations Mrs Fraser! Looks like this wee one inherited your pair of lungs," he heard one of the doctors said before he succumbed to the oblivion.
A couple of minutes later, a nurse hovered over Jamie, and he came to his senses immediately as something pungent and strong was waved under his nose. Realising at once what was happening, he quickly got onto his unsteady feet, breathing as many big breaths as his lungs can muster. He leaned over Claire, who was sobbing uncontrollably. Taking her into his arms, he looked around to catch a glimpse of the baby, but he couldn't see it. "Sassenach, shh...it's over now, the baby is here. Ye were so brave...so incredible, and I love ye so..."
"Right, Mr and Mrs Fraser, are you ready for baby number two? This next one is very impatient to come out, and we don't need to wait," announced a doctor with a smug smile on his face.
"W-What?? Wait a minute...what ye mean number two?" Jamie's voice faltered before he fainted once again for the second time, his head making a resounding thud on the floor.
It was too late for any of the nurses to check on Jamie, as the second baby came out without a hitch and with less push required from Claire.
Once the babies were safely delivered and taken to be cleaned, the bewildered staff looked at Jamie's immobile body, still on the floor and then Claire, who was wildly dishevelled and wet from perspiration and exertion.
"Well, my darling husband wanted a surprise, and I merely obliged," Claire shrugged with a smile as she leaned back against the pillow, feeling all of a sudden tired and spent; nevertheless relieved and ecstatic that their baby girls were safe, whole and healthy.
..........
Jamie looked down at his wife, the twins nestled against her chest. After Claire and the babies were cleaned, they were rolled into their own private room in the hospital and were given an hour of family bonding. The bairns have latched on immediately as Claire breast-fed them and now slept contentedly. Jamie wasn't ready to share them to the world just yet even if he knew friends and family were waiting outside. Taking off his shoes, he slid into bed next to Claire, putting his arm above her head as he laid on his side, watching his bairns sleep.
He leaned towards his wife and kissed her on the forehead. "Ye were so incredible, Sassenach. The birth...ye...and everything has been a miracle. I dinna ken how ye've done it, but ye were so brave and strong." Jamie contemplated for a bit as he leaned to kiss the babies' head, inhaling their clean smell. "Ye've given me so much...yer love, our babies. I have so much joy in my heart that I feel I'm about to burst anytime soon."
Claire smiled, tenderly at her husband. "And I love you, Jamie Fraser and I'm sorry for shouting at you. How's your head?" she croaked hoarsely as all her screaming from earlier started to take its toll.
Jamie chuckled. "Och, it's fine. I dinna mean to faint like a wee lassie on ye, but it must have been all yer screaming that did it to me. I couldna bear the pain ye were going through. I wanted to take all yer pain, and I would have gladly suffered it for yer sake."
Claire was just lifting her face to kiss Jamie when the door to their room suddenly opened.
"Right, ye two, that's enough. Ye have plenty of time for cuddles later. We want to see the baby!" Jenny announced as she burst into the room, followed hesitantly by friends and family.
"Jenny!" Ian tried to pull back his wife, shrugging apologetically, but Jamie signalled them all to come in with a nod of his head, not moving from his position.
Jenny and Geillis were immediately leaning over Claire's side, crooning at the sight of the bairns as the rest congratulated the new parents.
"Och, they're no' identical... one's got dark hair an' the other lighter," Geillis chirped excitedly as she gently touched each baby's head.
Everybody crowded around the bed to have a better look. "Do we have names for the bairns yet?" Aunt Jocasta piped in as she stood by his nephew's side, one hand on his shoulder.
Jamie straightened up from his position. "Weel, everybody, Claire and I'd like to introduce ye to our beautiful lassies, Hope and Faith Fraser...our wee bundles of joy and miracle..."
"Hope and Faith...how fitting after what both of you have been through," Joe said, smiling.
"Aye, Claire and I have talked about names. We have already decided on the name Faith awhile back if the bairn is to be a girl. But my wife never told me about a second girl," he laughed, lightly tapping Claire on her nose.
Claire looked at Jenny, smiling. "We thought too of the name Brian after your father, if the baby was a boy."
Murtagh peered his head to take a look. "So which one is which?"
"Well, Hope is with lighter hair and Faith is with the darker hair," Claire explained, her tired face breaking into a contented smile as she leaned her head towards Jamie's shoulder.
Jamie felt Claire's head bobbed up and down, trying to keep lucid in front of their friends and family. To his relief, the nurse came in to take the babies and announce visiting hours were over. By the time all of them left, Claire was already sound asleep, weary from all the excitement and effort of giving birth. Jamie remained where he was, holding his wife tight against him, thinking of the future for his young family. He said a silent prayer of gratitude as he stroke Claire's hair, and for the first time that day, Jamie allowed tears of happiness to flow freely until he too eventually fell into a peaceful sleep.
