Loved By The Strings

Two things must be immediately noted about my experiences listening to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Yale School Of Music, firstly I didn’t see any brown or black musicians, leading me to believe that I am invisible, since reality is a mirror, and I didn’t see myself it, only white and East Asian musicians seem to exist in the musical realm, leaving me extremely disheartened, and secondly, that all the strings vibrating in such immense, otherworldly frequencies, left me feeling loved, inspiring me to make certain that my primary goal as I play the keys, is to make my listener, feel, deeply, unconditionally loved. #yaleschoolofmusic #dallassymphonyorchestra 🎶

My host dad had surgery today so I got off work early since my host mom took time off to look after him.

I went for a run on the bike trail nearby and came across this:

Oh Dallas, another reason to love you.

In the evening I went to see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra with two friends. One of them got free tickets at work, box seats. It was a great experience! < L’oiseau de feu - Stravinsky > was the main act of the night.

Afterwards we crossed the street and had a drink at a speakeasy. (A speakeasy is an establishment that illegally sells alcoholic beverages.  Speakeasies largely disappeared after Prohibition was ended in 1933, and the term is now often used to describe retro style bars.) To get into the speakeasy, we had to enter a sushi restaurant. One of the bartenders took us through the kitchen and stock room to get to the ‘hidden’ speakeasy. They definitely make you feel like it’s still a secret place. The bar itself was mostly red with an asian vibe (dragon on the ceiling, samurai painting). It was worth the effort of trying to find it!
