We took a walk around downtown Dallas today. First of all, it’s hot! Sure, it’s Dallas, but poor me, coming from chilly Poland where it’s already ‘end of September, what did you expect?!’ weather. Let’s just say it was a bit of a shock.

Speaking of shocks… no ceramic plates or metal cutlery at breakfast. 😫 Here we all are, sipping through paper straws thinking we’re saving the planet, while breakfast after breakfast is served on plastic plates, with plastic cutlery and plastic cups. 😭

On our walk, we met two lovely ladies selling Bibles right next to this eye. They told us that the story goes like this: the owner of a nearby hotel originally bought the land with plans to build a parking lot. But the city council rejected his proposal, saying it would be an eyesore. So, he left them with an actual sore eye on the spot instead.

[seemed like tonight, there were a couple times where they tried to get you on the post-side and you were right up against it. is that something that you worked on in the off-season? looking at some of those … weaknesses … ]   yeah, yeah, i think, um — i mean, those guys are so good, if you give them, you know, any little crack they’ll try to get it in there. so just trying to, you know — yeah, seal the post, and be good down low. i mean, i’m as big as it gets when it comes to goalies so it should be pretty hard to beat me, uh, down low and in-tight. so it’s something i worked on a lot and, uh — yeah. just, yeah, was good.

"The Hypnotic Eye," a wondrously Psychotronic '90s Dallas-based cable access show. It was a fab assemblage of movie clips, music videos, vintage commercials, trailers, sketches, and more, all of it blended up in an experimental Cuisinart. It was helmed by the great Joe Riley -- a talented latex mask maker, monster movie maven, and member of The Church of The SubGenius -- and hosted by a foam puppet cyclops named Icon. This became a cult phenomenon in the days prior to the advent of the Internet age, with fans outside of the Dallas area trading tapes via post.
