The second round of 2023 FC Bayern March Madness is now closed!

In the Round of 16, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting secured the largest victory with 93.8% of the vote in his matchup against newcomer Daley Blind, while Manuel Neuer v Matthijs de Ligt was the closest with Manuel winning by a margin of 9.8%. At least 97 voters participated in this round.

Looking forward to the next round, things are really starting to heat up, and we’re down to our top 8 players. Here's a brief preview of the next round of polls:

I finally finished Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 so have a gratuitous naked Nene and Linna from the last episode? They just decided to sleep together like that for reasons.

There were some neat episodes in the second half but I wasn't as involved overall as in the first. The het romance sub-plot between Priss and Leon didn't help... I was quite fine with his casual flirting in the OAV series but here, a lot of his comments annoyed me or straight-up made me dislike his character (like making a sexual comment about Linna's figure while he's revealing to Priss and her he knows their secret identities, or making a comment about Priss' state of undress right after she got attacked by small robots clowns...) and speaking of AD police characters, I was sad to see nothing hinting at Daley being gay/into men, like he was in the OAVs.

Going back to our female characters: we still had good scenes between our Knight Sabers but I was a bit disappointed by how Sylia was left behind for the final conflict. It felt like there was a missed opportunity for something more regarding her and her character development in relation to Galatea.

Not necessarily an issue but the ending also was on the pretty abrupt side, which won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Peter Tatchell Foundation leads protest at Westminster Abbey

The Peter Tatchell Foundation will coordinate protests at Westminster Abbey on Monday against leaders of 30 Commonwealth countries that criminalise LGBT+ people.

The Church of England and UK Government will welcome the homophobes to the Commonwealth’s 75th-anniversary service at Westminster Abbey.

The Peter Tatchell Foundation is coordinating a protest from 12 noon as homophobic leaders arrive. It will include LGBT+ people who have fled victimisation and violence in Commonwealth countries.

Peter Tatchell said the anti-LGBT+ laws in the 30 countries violate the Commonwealth Charter.

As the Commonwealth celebrates, we mourn!

“As the Commonwealth celebrates, we mourn!

“We are calling out the 30 Commonwealth leaders who violate the equality principles of their own constitutions and the Commonwealth Charter. They preside over the state-sanctioned persecution of their LGBT+ citizens.

“Thirty out of 56 Commonwealth countries criminalise homosexuality, mostly under laws imposed by Britain during the nineteenth century when it was the colonial power. Six Commonwealth countries have life imprisonment. Millions of LGBT+ Commonwealth citizens are at risk of arrest, jail time, mob violence and discrimination in employment, housing, education and health care.

“These anti-LGBT+ laws violate the Commonwealth Charter which pledges that all member states are ‘committed to equality’ and are ‘opposed to all forms of discrimination.’

“Most Commonwealth leaders refuse to recognise that LGBT+ rights are human rights. For 75 years, they’ve vetoed any discussion of the issue at their heads of government meetings.

“Countries that criminalise LGBT+ people should be suspended from the Commonwealth.”

The protest will urge all Commonwealth governments to:

Decriminalise same-sex relations.

Prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Enforce laws against threats and violence, to protect LGBT+ people from hate crimes.

Consult and dialogue with their LGBT+ organisations.

NOTE: The six Commonwealth countries that have a maximum penalty of life imprisonment for same-sex acts are: Bangladesh, Guyana, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda.

The first round of 2023 FC Bayern March Madness is complete!

Thomas Müller secured the biggest victory of the tournament, winning his matchup against young goalkeeper Johannes Schenk with 97.5% of votes, while Dayot Upamecano defeated Sadio Mané with 56.3% of votes in the Round of 32's closest matchup. Winter signee Daley Blind pulled off the biggest "upset" of the tourney and defeated the club's fourth most capped player, Kingsley Coman.

The contest between Leon Goretzka and Alexander Nübel had the most votes of the first round of voting, with 112 people participating in the poll!

We now prepare to move on to the Round of 16, which will take place on Saturday, March 11-Sunday, March 12, with four polls being posted each day. As with the Round of 32, each poll will be posted at 9:00am ET (which will be an hour earlier locally for individuals in countries that don't adjust their clocks for Daylight Saving this Sunday!).
