today is the diehard 500 race, and the rain from this morning had made the track too wet to race on. ‘i think the rains lettin’ up some.’ dale says, stepping out of the trailer. as we walk to his car, i gave him a good luck kiss and he got in his car. pretty soon, he was leading the race, everything was going fairly well, when out of nowhere, a major crash happened. dale went straight into the wall, ‘dale earnhardt hits the wall, causing an 11-car crash.’ the announcer says. ‘you’re seeing it live just like us, his crew and family are watching on the tv nearby.’ as he continued, my hands started getting shaky. we watched on the little tv, the ambulance race to dales car, on the grass. i turned my back to the tv, so i didn’t have to see anything. ‘and dale earnhardt, giving the crowd a thumbs up!’ i let my breath out, i didn’t realize, and one of the crew members led me to the ambulance. dale could see me shaking, ‘i’m sorry if i scared you,’ dale said, pulling me into a hug. ‘this wasn’t what i wanted to happen.’ he said, laughing lightly.

Someone once pointed out that Chick is meant to parallel Dale Earnhardt, with the way he drives and all. I made a whole post on why I think they'd be friends, but that's not what this is about.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. was a farmer?? (See attached Short)

So like... obviously now I'm thinking "what if Chick was a farmer"

I could totally imagine Chick having the stuff to be a farm boy. He was a sweet kid, probably loved the animals growing up, but he also gives those hard-edged vibes a lot of farmers have. He's a hard worker for sure, and I could totally see him having pretty 'cold' seeming views about the origins of meat. He knows where it comes from and he could probably tell you exactly how much it cost and how long it took the farmer to get that steak to your plate, and it's not going to stop him enjoying it.

His dad was obviously into racing, so the man's probably got a rough dirt track on his property somewhere, and that's probably where he started training Chick to drive fast when he was just a little kid.

Imagine Lightning getting cocky bc he thinks he could drive circles around Chick in the dirt after his little trip to Radiator Springs only for Chick to leave HIM in the dust because he's been driving on dirt since he was tall enough to see over the steering wheel.

And he just looks at Lightning after their lil race like "Stick to asphalt, kid" like he didn't just pull off Doc's trick without ever meeting the man (because Doc didn't invent drifting)

And better yet, after every race, Chick flies home and the next day he's chasing chickens and feeding cows like??? Bro <3

Though I'm sure all that stops when his dad finally retires and he's finally free to get his own place and spend some of his multiple millions of dollars on a big, fancy house somewhere.

Yes I appreciate that there's probably a lot of comic/game/otherwise non-movie media that disproves all of this but shhh... let me have my funky new headcanons.

Dale Earnhardt Tribute Scheme. I originally created this on a 2018 Camaro which now resides with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in his private collection. Then, redesigned it to fit this 2003-2005 Action Monte Carlo.

This is a full body wrap with Hayes waterslide decal paper. The original template I created on the body, flattened and scanned it, then created the template in Photoshop. Designed the car from scratch in Photoshop on that template. Decals then printed on white Hayes waterslide paper on a Canon G4210 printer. Headlights printed separately using clear paper with a white backer. This particular body is 7 separate panels.

Ralph Dale Earnhardt Sr. April 29, 1951 – February 18, 2001) was an American professional stock car driver and team owner, who raced from 1975 to 2001 in the former NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now called the NASCAR Cup Series), most notably driving the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. His aggressive driving style earned him the nicknames "The Intimidator", "The Man in Black", and "Ironhead". He is regarded as one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. Earnhardt won 76 races in the Winston Cup Series from 1979 to 2000. Of those, 67 wins came with Richard Childress Racing in the No. 3, with sponsorship from Wrangler Jeans and GM Goodwrench. Earnhardt won his first six races in 1979 and 1980 driving for Rod Osterlund, winning Rookie of the Year honors in 1979 and his first of seven championships in 1980.
