The Mini JCW Buggy For Dakar Rally 2018

For the DAKAR RALLY 2018 that begins on January 6 from Peru’s capital Lima, MINI and the German X-Raid team have come together in hopes of once again bringing home the trophy, just like they have previously on four consecutive occasions from 2012 and 2015. This year though, things are a bit special as the team will also be competing with this rear-wheel driven MINI John Cooper Works Buggy Edition 40, alongside the regular Mini John Cooper Works Rally. The speciality of this buggy is that it is two wheel drive as compared to the 4-wheel drive Mini JCW Rally in order to take advantage of the special regulations for two-wheel driven vehicles. All three MINI John Cooper Works Buggy (out of 6 Mini X-Raid Dakar Rally competitors) will be powered by a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder diesel engine generating and output of 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm.
