Daizzi was one of the few canon kwamis I've been wanting to redo, specifically to give him hooves like I did for the rest of his box, making them slightly heart-shaped too like I did for other aspects in his design. :)

After drawing all the kwamis individually, I knew I needed to make a miracle box to put them all together! Some symbols were a bit more tedious to draw than others, but I’m very happy with it and how cohesive it looks :)

Next up is a pair that went through quite some changes:

Mullo and Daizzi

I'm going to preface all this with this: I've no clue what the rest of these canon kwamis personalities are like save the main ones. So, do tell me if they're similar or completely different.

Moving on!

Mullo and Daizzi both received new concepts. Mullo is the kwami of perception and Daizzi is the kwami of ignorance. This is in the sense that Mullo's eyes are open to everything and acknowledges all. Daizzi is blinded and picks and chooses what to accept and believe in. Thus, perception and ignorance.

Their colorings have been altered more than anything. Daizzi's is just because I liked the darker pink more. Mullo is because she's made to resemble a classic white lab mouse/rat but also because when I wrote Juleka first with the mouse, she took the colors of Mullo and became Souris Blanche, white mouse. Other difference is Daizzi's mark is shaped like a flower.

Mullo is quiet, observant, and curious, though cautious. She prefers to watch things unfold and take in the information as she goes, adjusting to any new developments. She will always choose holders with a keen eye for detail, often putting them through simple, but easily overlooked tests for her potential holders.

Mullo's preferred snack is trail mix. While her jewel is still the same as canon, it can change to what the holder wants. I.e. when Juleka is the mouse, it is often a choker necklace with the coin pendant.

Daizzi is wide-eyed, energetic, but foolish. She glides along the current, enjoying life to the fullest. However, she's more likely to ignore and avoid terrible situations and changes that she doesn't like or want to confront. She will always pick holders that share a similar mindset.

Daizzi's preferred food is pop tarts, preferably the fun, colorful ones. Just like in show, her jewel is an anklet.

Pig!Marinette for my kwami swap roster. It's... already been half a year since the last one, apparently. Oops. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a fan of the canon colors for the pig holder's outfit, so I stuck with Daizzi's colors, but muted and pinker... fine! I did my own thing (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻ No regrets.

Since I’m officially a year older now, I figured I’d share my growth as an artist with y’all. True GlitterPenSupremacy followers will know that I had to redesign my redesign (hehe) of Viperion, but he isn’t the first MTS character I didn’t nail on the first try. Here’s a few others that I had to reredesign (and a bit about why)

This one is a special instance, since I technically haven’t redesigned her yet, but it’s an idea I had for a civilian Zoe design. Basically I don’t really like the colors anymore (and her proportions are off) so I’ll be reworking it. The final design will probably still go with the orange stars, but it’ll look different.

Of all the characters I’ve reredesigned, I think she was probably the most decent to begin with. Other than her features being a bit blurry, her biggest issue is that her costume is basically just a recolor of her Miracubug one (and while I do like that version of her design, it just doesn’t fit in with the MTS cast of character designs).

The OG Carapace design was me trying to make an intimidating character, but accidentally leaving him too bland looking. The fullbody suit and lack of hair just wasn’t doing it (plus he needed more variety in his color palette beyond shades of green).

I thought Ladybug was pretty good at the time, but when viewing her design (both on its own and in contrast to her partner), it definitely needed more. Adding another shade of red (and the cute little neon clovers) was absolutely necessary.

Yeah his color scheme and details are kinda lame in comparison to modern MTS designs, and his hair also feels a bit basic, but let’s be real, the biggest offender, (BY FAR) was his proportions. Like who is that??? Certainly not Ivan! I had to fix his shape so it actually looked like the character.

Polymouse had a lot of the same issues as Minotaurox. Mid detailing, generic color scheme (especially with Pigment around: Mylene needed more than just pink, grey, and white), an uninspired hairstyle, and most importantly WHY DOES SHE LOOK LIKE THAT?!?!?! She needed her proportions fixed to match her actual body type.

Other than her eyes needing to be pink like Daizzi’s, the general vibe I was going for with Pigment changed, and I needed to give her a new costume to reflect that. (This design is decent, but not MTS-worthy and doesn’t really show what kind of hero Pigment is.)

This is a pretty old design (made in ‘22!) so there were a lot of things I needed to rework. I’d say the main thing was Greyhound’s personality changing from his initial design. When I first conceptualized Greyhound MTS, I kinda figured he’d have the same personality as Felix, just being a superhero (and maybe a tad less formal). Nowadays he’s a lot more of the sweet but shy puppy type (a lot of Felix’s softer and “not professional” emotions get repressed as a civilian, and kinda leak out as Greyhound). I needed his new design to represent that. Now he fits his power (he had the concept of Devotion and healing powers) and age (14) much better than his OG design.

My first ML design! You can see a lot about my skills and confidence from this drawing. I was heavily trying to mimic the Miracubug style (with Night Light’s design basically being ML Vesperia as a Firefly and also me altering all the pet peeves I had with VP’s design) despite that not really fitting my skills as an artist. Plus I just wasn’t as good at detailing back then. This is why the modern Night Light design is essentially just a glow-up of the old one (with the fluffier hair, baggier clothes, and black retinas being the main objectives of the design). I also got better at communicating personality through my designs (well, that, and I wasn’t too sure what NL’s personality would be at first). Like Greyhound, I think the newer design looks far more her age!

Pigella Redesign!

I really REALLY hate the original design, so I redesigned it to be more like a reference to the Magical Girls trope.

Inspirated on Sailor Moon, Ojamajo Doremi, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Tonde Buurin (or Super Pig).

And yeah, redesigned Daizzi too, it's like Piglet from Winnie Pooh lmao

Miraculous: Magical Connections Kwami Redesigns

All the Kwami's are varying sizes to help further their differences, as a baseline, Tikki is the same size as canon, being 10cm or just under 4inch

I added more black to Tikki's design to further break up all the red and I added small wings to help tie into its animal

I just changed Plagg's whiskers so they're more apparent and closer to a cat

I changed the small dot on Duusu's forehead to a heart to help further the connection to emotions

I just got rid of the things on Nooroo's wings, otherwise the design is the same

Pollen's design was kept mostly the same aside from the addition of wings

I changed the pattern on Wayzz to give it more character and added the small lighter patterns to help break up the green

Trixx is mostly the same with some minor tweaks such as getting rid of the eyebrows

Mullo is mostly the same but I added a bit of patterning to it to break up all the gray and also gave it an actual mouse/rat tail

Roarr is basically the same but with slightly altered colors/patterns to make it look a bit better

Fluff is the same as canon but its eyes are a darker blue

Kaalki's design is the same as canon, though it was a bit hard to translate in a front facing 2d design

Stompp's tail was changed a bit but otherwise its the same

Sass' hood was changed to make it connect to its tail but otherwise the patterns and colors are the same

Ziggy's only change was making its right arm white to make the pattern more asymmetrical

Daizzi's tail was made smaller and I only added one small brown patch to break up the pink and reference mud

Longg was changed the most as it being red never made sense and now that I've changed the concept and also have dragons be canon to the universe, I had to make it appear closer to what dragons actually look like (I took inspiration from Chinese dragons)

Xuppu has been kept the same

Barkk and Orikko have both been kept the same (Orikko is the weakest link because I can't draw its stupid crest but I did my best)

Kwamis are the embodiment of divine power and energy, crafted by the hands of the gods to extend aid to humanity, as the divine beings themselves do not directly intervene in mortal affairs. Among these Kwamis, Tikki, and Plagg stand as prime examples, born from a surge of energy that teetered between creation and destruction, imbuing them with unparalleled strength and versatility.

As time unfolded, more Kwamis emerged into existence, a testament to the realization that even the mighty Tikki and Plagg could not fulfill every need. Despite their supremacy, they understood the importance of diversity and specialization among their kind, each Kwami designed with unique abilities and purposes, awaiting the day they would be called upon by chosen individuals.

Tikki and Plagg, with their storied history, boasted the largest number of holders among all Kwamis. There existed a playful banter between them, a jest suggesting that the cosmic force at play orchestrated the romances between their respective holders. Tikki found such connections endearing, while Plagg found amusement in the unfolding drama, particularly reminiscing about one of Tikki's favored holders during the pirate age.

In an unexpected twist of fate, Tikki's holder emerged from humble beginnings, driven by the noble cause of aiding her impoverished family, while Plagg's holder found himself amidst a pirate crew, still in his early stages as a cabin boy. Fate intertwined their paths when they were bestowed with miraculous powers, transforming them into the iconic Ladybug and Cat holders. Their initial encounter sparked a whirlwind romance, with love igniting at first sight, eventually culminating in a bond so profound that it surpassed all obstacles.

Their journey together was nothing short of extraordinary, as they faced trials and triumphs side by side, ultimately achieving their shared goals and retiring in each other's embrace, a testament to the enduring power of love and the indomitable spirit of those chosen by the Kwamis.

I categorized the Kwamis into distinct groups based on their inherent characteristics and powers. These groups were organized according to the nature of their abilities: physical, emotional, and time/space manipulation. Among these groups, there are Tikki and Plagg, who form their unique duo.

The Physical type includes Kwamis such as Trixx, Wayzz, Longg, Xuppu, Pollen, Mello, Roaar, Barkk, and Orikko. Kwamis of this type rely on physical prowess, employing attacks that manifest in the physical realm when utilizing their special abilities.

In the Emotional type category, we find Daizzi, Orikko, Ziggy, Stompp, Duusu, Nooroo, and Liiri. These Kwamis harness the power of emotions, unleashing attacks rooted in the realm of feelings and sentiments when activating their special abilities.

The Time/Space type consists of Sass, Kaalki, and Fluff. Kwamis in this group manipulate the fabric of time and space, employing moves and attacks that bend the laws of reality when utilizing their special abilities.

I've also altered the jewelry and objects housing the Kwamis. While Plagg and Tikki remain as rings and earrings, respectively, I've introduced new designs for Sass, Roaar, Barkk, Longg, Mullo, Orikko, Ziggy, Fluff, and Liiri. Sass now resides in an elegant armband, Roaar finds refuge in a striking cuff, Barkk is encased within a regal collar, Longg is safeguarded by a talisman adorned with intricate beads, Mullo is suspended from a pendant, Orikko rests within delicate hairpins, Ziggy finds a home in stylish hair clips, Fluff adorns a fashionable wristwatch, and Liiri is nestled within a stunning necklace featuring a claw pendant. This redesign not only enhances the individuality of each Kwami but also adds a touch of sophistication to their adornments.

Tikki and Plagg, the yin and yang of the Miraculous world, appear to be imbued with an unequal portrayal of their powers despite their inherent balance in strength. In my rendition, I propose a rebalancing act: tempering Tikki's abilities while elevating Plagg's prowess. While Tikki retains the majority of her powers, she will be unable to penetrate Akuma's defenses, leaving Plagg as the sole entity capable of uncovering the hiding spot of these malevolent beings.

Let's delve into a comparative analysis of their powers:

PIGELLA REDESIGN

Hey its a- I- I just said- um- a Pigella Redesign! Woo! This is my redesign of Pigella, I actually quite like her design concept in canon, I just, really wanted to touch it up and make sorta my own version-

Little, little bits there is; she’s like, a strawberry blonde (I wanted to include more pink), gave her darker shades of pink to tie to Daizzi’s lil spots(she’s also got “freckles” on her mask). I REALLY wanted to give her a whole Sailor Moon theme, hope that carried-

But yeah! Here’s Rose! I’m very proud of myself. If you read my fics or aus, this is how I imagine her to look.

Here's the redesigns for the kwamis in my rewrite. I know... they look very different. I had thoughts. They look like Plagg and Tikki do in the first image when they don't have a holder/no one is wearing their jewel. They become those chibis when someone wields their jewel so that they're "travel size". So basically, they don't just disappear when no one is wearing their miraculous.

Btw Daizzi is gonna use they/them pronouns just because the show keeps changing them from a boy to a girl and such. The kwamis don't have gender, they present themselves however they'd like (canon to the show).

Also each of them is wearing clothing from a dynasty that they liked best, so I assure you, I didn't just give them random outfits that don't historically make sense together.

Pollen is wearing yellow/gold and I know that in Chinese history, that was primarily a color of royalty/emperors and such and to wear the color in abundance was disrespectful. However, I feel it's fitting to her character (aside from the fact that she's yellow herself), because like Chloe, she acts like she is royal. But if this bugs anyone, I can easily just change her to look more green and blue.

I know I'm super late but!! Pigella my beloved!

I leaned into the Sailor Moon vibes with her redesign. Biggest things of note are the brown accents and the tail.

I chose brown accents because while I love the boldness of pink on pink, you need to break it up a little. So instead of the more neon pink, I replaced it with brown like Daizzi's eye markings.

As for the tail, that's because sometimes instead of a Pig, that spot on the Zodiac is taken by the Boar. Plus it's cute!

Opinion on Rose's hero outfit? i personally don't like it. its too all over the place and has no real common theme.

It’s a little much, but still real cute. I will be redesigning it later but for now my main complaint is that there was a little too much pink-on-pink. I think it could’ve benefited from something more dark or neutral, Like, Daizzi has that brown spot on her eye, so a few accents with that instead of the neon pink.

Ice powerup is just to make the kwamies more pointy/square? I like it, but because you said you only satisfied with half of them, if you redesigne them, I would have a suggestion:

Maybe you could play around wwith winter theme, snow, ice(cicle), warm fluff... Like enlarge Pollen or Fluff's fluff, maybe adding elements to them, like an ice tusk to Daizzy or ice horn to Ziggy, I coud even suggest to transform Nooroo's wings to snowflakes'... And it's maybe a bold suggestion, but re-colouring come parts of them to white .... Idk how far do you want to take these, but I can see even Xuppu holding a snowball in his tail...

Of course, these are yout designes, and they are cool (pun intended😁) as the way they are, but if you want to redesigne them and you like any of these, feel free to use them.

My problem kinda is my limited palette. You see, I have a set of colors (usually 4 but some have 5) for every kwami and I barely break that rule, I think I broke it once with Lily Pad. And most of the kwamis don't have white, but whatever I'll make it work.

But I definitely should change their shapes more.
