i have read the first chapter of the dnangel sequel and pored over its pages and have come to the conclusion i have no idea where this is going.

there's a LOT of details that have me extremely curious right now. i just need to collect my thoughts a little better on them, i think.

like, off the top of my head

Daiya's heterochromia?? HELLO?

The way he makes anyone (or, more accurately, any woman) he touches fall in love with him temporarily?

The way artwork seems to really like him. And how he can hear their voices. Daiya has a lot of weird shit going on with him, actually.

Riku and Risa weren't mentioned once in the chapter. It's certainly implied Risa and Satoshi got together, since Satoshi has twins. But I have to wonder how Riku feels about Emiko still training Daiya...

The state of Hikari artworks post-DNAngel ending. How they can only remain alive in the Niwa basement now, because of the Black Wings. But the way there's still Hikari outwork out there in the world, now dormant.

No obvious love interest was introduced. I do not know what to expect from this particular angle, but I'm sure it must exist to SOME degree since the chapter ended on Daiya wanting to be able to hold the hand of his soul mate with "his own hand," as opposed to his cursed one.

The memory loss from the end of DNAngel holds. Only the Niwa family and a "certain few others" seem to remember Dark's existence. I can only assume Satoshi is included in this, but I wonder if he's the only one.

I think the chapter was half "set up new stuff" and half "pick up from the old stuff" in terms of hammering out really basic info we'll need, but it also eschews setting up an obvious conflict or goal of any kind so I have no idea where it's going.

To be perfectly honest, I have mixed experiences with generational sequels like these, so I'm at least glad to come out of the first new chapter not categorically hating it (lmao)
