There's a lot of anti-Romani racism in Dracula, and today's entry marks the start of it.
So I thought it might be a good opportunity to highlight some organisations that are working to promote Roma rights, and some ways, alongside donating, that you might be able to support them.
The European Roma Rights Centre carries out strategic litigation to support Roma rights, as well as doing advocacy and research. You can sign up to volunteer for them here; one volunteer-run project currently live is called Challenging Digital Antigypsyism, and focuses on identifying and reporting hate speech on social media platforms.
On a similar theme, Minority Rights Group International has a campaign toolkit on countering cyberhate against Roma. The focus of the campaign is Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
In the UK, Friends, Families and Travellers works to end racism and discrimination against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life. If you're in the UK, you can ask your MP to sign their pledge card. And if you witness discriminatory comments in politics, you can report that here.
The Roma Support Group, based in London, works with Eastern European Roma refugees and migrants. They have a number of volunteer roles for people with regular time to offer.

The Arditi del Popolo
The Fascist Offensive
The Italian anarchist, Errico Malatesta, commenting on the massive factory occupations in northern Italy in September 1920 which involved 600,000 workers, predicted “if we do not carry on to the end, we will pay with tears of blood for the fears we now instill in the bourgeoisie”. His words were to be prophetic as both the PSI and CGL, instead of expanding the struggle from the factories into the community, collaborated with the state to return the workers to their jobs. It was from this moment onwards that the state moved onto the offensive, and Mussolini’s ‘revolutionary action’ squads were supplied with enough arms to take to the streets.
Until the formation of the AdP, the fascists had things mostly their own way. Starting off with an attack on the town hall in Bologna, the fascist squads swept through the countryside like a scythe, undertaking ‘punitive expeditions’ against ‘red’ villages. Following their success there, they began attacking the cities. Labour unions, the offices of co-operatives and leftist papers were destroyed in Trieste, Modena, and Florence within the first few months of 1921. As Rossi writes, they had “an immense advantage over the labour movement in its facilities for transportation and concentration… The fascists are generally without ties…they can live anywhere…The workers, on the contrary, are bound to their homes…This system gives the enemy every advantage: that of the offensive over the defensive, and that of mobile warfare over a war of position [2].”
However by March 1921 there were growing signs of working class defence structures being put in place. In Livorno, when a working class district (Borgo dei Cappucini) came under attack by the fascists, the whole neighbourhood mobilised against them, routing them from the town. In April, when the fascists launched an assault on one of the union centres (Camero del Lavoro), the workers held strike action on the 14th and surrounded the fascist squad, only for the army to rush to the fascists’ defence. By July, the working class had created their own armed militia –the Arditi del Popolo.

Speaking of intense emotions.. We see kant bison cracking internally.. And fadel cool cold volcano rage at bison for betraying him despite his good intentions - have fun brother live a little be human let's be human..
I'm looking to see how fadel and style emotionally evolve.. And what's behind the devil may care aspects of style.. Style fear flashing through him when he makes the call to kant.. And fadel dommed by the narrative.. Leashed guard dog vibe, will he chafe under the collar or enjoy it fully?
The hospital scene with style overriding fadel desire for independence because he wanted to play nurse.. gave me a slight call back of Florence nightingale vibe.. When does Style listens to Fadels limits, he has made his walls so porous Style invades them fully for "his own good"

When you tell people they should be sending every spare penny to their chosen Gaza fundraiser or they are Bad. But then it all gets a bit too stressful so you have to leave tumblr. :(
#if you know who i'm talking about don't say the username let's be civil#to me this is an example of dishing it out but you can't take it#like oh does it not feel good to feel like shit? you need a break?!#btw i've spoken with the organiser of the fundraiser in question- they live in pennsylvania#according to them they are withdrawing the money a few thousand dollars at a time from the GFM#then transfer the money to the family in gaza out of their account and eat the fees (so kind! there is no proof though)#there's also no way to prove that none of the money raised stays in their account. i have only seen some transfer screenshots#which frankly could be anything. the gfm still says the money is for evacuation but the organiser now says (to me) it is for daily food etc#but the campaign still talks about evacuation. i have asked them to update it to make it clear money is being spent on other things#and to explain if the plan is still to evacuate- that is why these gfms have high goals because of that war profiteering egyptian company#people donate so people can FLEE to SAFETY and if that's no longer the plan you must SAY THAT#they probably will not update the gfm though#it's not like there are 10s of 1000s of dollars involved here or anything /s#i am extremely concerned that at least some of these funds are being skimmed by the bank account owner#i've been watching gfm scamming from waaaay before 7/10 made evacuation from gaza an urgent matter#and large amounts of money is so so soooooo tempting for an everyday person#like easy access to that amount of money that is not rightly yours is dangerous!!#i hope someone is investigating this issue- might email the podcast the opportunist and see if they can have a look

Create a Space to Think and Let Yourself Bloom
You’ve probably heard it before: a clean space equals a clear mind. It might sound cliché, but there’s actual psychological evidence behind it. In a messy environment, there’s always something calling for your attention—a pile to tidy up, an item to put away. This chaos can make it hard to focus or even know where to start. It hampers your ability to process information and concentrate.
Speaking of focus, a recent Netflix movie, The Sixth Triple Eight, tells the incredible true story of a battalion of Black women during World War II. They were tasked with organizing and delivering over 17 million pieces of undelivered mail in Europe. They worked in a repurposed, abandoned school with blacked-out windows and no natural daylight. The building was freezing, poorly lit, and infested with rats.
Despite these challenges, the women got to work. According to Major General Mari K. Eder’s book, their leader, Major Charity Adams, rallied the group by saying:
“I know how this looks, ladies. And I know what you’re probably thinking. But we have a job to do, and we’re going to get it done. Now, let’s get organized.”
And organized they did. What was expected to take six months was accomplished in just three. This is a perfect example of how having a system, even in the messiest of situations, can lead to incredible results.
That said, there are times when a little messiness can fuel creativity. A study published in Psychological Science found that people in messy environments often come up with more creative ideas. Think about it: if you’re knitting a sweater and there are balls of yarn everywhere, you might be inspired to add unique, unexpected designs. The creative chaos can help you think outside the box.
So, how do you balance a clean environment with the need for creative mess? It’s simple: start small. Begin with your room. Make sure everything has a designated place. If you find you don’t have enough storage, get some containers or boxes to help organize. This way, messes don’t pile up—they’re easier to clean.
Once your room feels under control, expand your efforts. Maybe clean the bathroom one week and tackle the kitchen the next. But in my opinion, the room is the most important. Even if the rest of the house is messy, having a clean, personal space to retreat to can do wonders for your mind.
Imagine this: you come back to your tidy room with your yarn neatly stored. You dive into your sweater project, and after a few hours, there are balls of yarn everywhere. You’ve poured your creativity into the design. When you’re done, it takes just a few minutes to clean up because everything has its place. Now, you’re back to your clean space, ready for whatever comes next.
A clean space isn’t about stifling creativity—it’s about setting the stage for your mind to thrive. Let your room be the foundation where creativity and clarity bloom side by side.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (NIV):
"For God is not a God of disorder but of peace."
