Called kashiyama daikanyama, the building is made up of boxes stacked on top of each other in a unique shape that stands out in its surroundings. Located in the mountains of daiguan, Tokyo, it is a new commercial complex designed by Nendo studio for a clothing brand called "Onward."

The designers combined smaller box-like units, one on top of the other, to make the building look like a hill. Such a structure also allows the building to be composed of many exposed facades, allowing natural light to easily penetrate different areas of the interior. Almost every floor has a terrace that connects the interior and exterior Spaces, as well as an external staircase that serves as an additional access to the different floors. The moving lines of the whole building are more free and smooth. This kind of "hill" building has a richer perspective, so that you can see more diverse landscapes. Natural light can also shine on more areas of the building, and the indoor lighting is better, and the sense of spatial connection between inside and outside is stronger.

DAIKANYAM T-SITE

A bitter-sweet adventure when you want to by ALL the books. Flicking through all the many books and magazines on offer I picked up a few sources of inspiration in terms of how designers have tackled themes of nature and intertwined it with design and technology. 

I’m not sure if we will use Japanese characters in our design, however, I loved the examples of differentiation in the characters, we could somehow intertwine these accents into our designs.
