#daemon finds the whole thing really funny but he remains loyal to his wife

Rhae thinks Aemond wants the throne (debatable) and that he has the hots for her son (not so debatable), so every single time he does anything remotely rebellious she goes ‘not today bitch’ and sends him to visit Daeron at Oldtown with a clear undertone of ‘don’t come back’.

Without fail he shows up every couple of years with another excuse as to why he’s supposed to be there, be that a territory he conquered and is giving to his sister as a bribery to let him wed Lucerys show of his loyalty, and Rhaenyra lets him stay because well, he did gift her new lands, she guesses it’s alright. And if that’s not it then he’s visiting his dear mother and sister, surely he’s allowed to see them right? So of course Rhae can’t just turn him away, family is still family no matter how irritating it can be.

And every single time Aemond says something too conspicuous, smiles a bit too sharply, and Rhaenyra sends him packing again.

Things come to an abrupt halt when Aemond returns after a year and a half of wandering product of his ill timed jokes (who would have thought Rhaenyra would get so mad when he mentioned their father? Oh well, she always liked the late King better). That on itself isn’t news, but Rhaenyra is too busy trying to find a match for her darling boy Lucerys. Correction, she is trying to find a match that her darling boy Lucerys will accept.

Predictably, it’s harder than it should be. She now understands her father’s own frustration all too well.

And so Aemond returns. He brings her a whole new kingdom to rule, the greatest bribe apology he’s gifted her. And she says he can ask for whatever he wants, and she’ll give him it.

He asks for Lucerys’ hand. She sends him back to Oldtown.

The day of Lucerys’ wedding with Rhaena, Aemond is nowhere to be found. Rhaenyra allows herself to relax until she finds out Lucerys is gone too.

Daemon laughs at the news, positively delighted at this development, before grabbing Dark Sister and flying off to Dragonstone. If he hurries, maybe he’ll get there before his nephew and son can get married.

So I know “Aemond is Daemon 2.0” is a thing but has it been done where he truly becomes full Daemon 2.0. Queen Rhaenyra keeps finding excuses to exile him and yet a couple years later he’s walking through the doors again. 

Of course complete with him being clearly obsessed with her son and his nephew who is just as obsessed back.
