The Jake fic is taking longer than I thought. So here’s a blurb to hold you guys over. Soft Jake should be out by the end of the week.
Josh is a girl dad
Jake is a boy dad
~
Josh is the one who’s fixing her hair for pre school. “Do we want pig tails or buns?” Turning on the curling iron, and making sure she knows not to touch it. “Its hot don’t touch” he’d say pointing at it. She’d nod her head as she watched her dad put her hair into pigtails. Josh is the one to apologize when he pulls her hair to hard “I’m sorry baby did it hurt?”. He would get it to perfection. Putting colorful little hair ties around them, or clip on charms to make her feel pretty. “Okay princess all done”. She’d smile in the mirror at her hair, and twirl it a bit at the ends. She stands up being careful not to touch the curling iron, and hugs her dad. Thanking him for making her look like princess. He’d smile from ear and ear, and place a kiss on her forehead. “Your welcome little darling”. He always makes sure she knows how much he loves her before dropping her off at preschool. “Do you know how much I love you?”. She would stretch her arms out as far as she could “this much?”. He’d agree with her, and gives her hugs and kisses before he walks her into school. Sometimes she gets teary eyed before he leaves, but she always comes home with fun little stories to tell him. And he’ll listen to every single word as he cooks her dinner for the night. Josh always makes bath time fun and relaxing for her. Once a week he’ll set a theme for her, or let her have extra toys, or if she’s had a “long day” he’ll message her scalp while he washes her hair. Which always makes her doze off in his hands. Right after bath time he lays her down in her “big girl bed”, but somehow she always finds her way back to his bed. Even though it may cause him less sleep he’ll never complain. She’ll find a home in his arms, and they’ll both drift off to sleep for the night. When she’s older, and gets her first period he’ll already be prepared. Giving her the option between pads or tampons, and teaching her the difference. Making sure to give her ibuprofen, and a heating pad for her cramps. He’s extremely understanding when she snaps at him. He never really loses his temper at her, and always gives her space.
Jake is the one to make sure there always a guitar laying out for him. One day he bought him one of those mini guitars. It ended up broke when he pulled the strings to hard. Jake just laughed it off, and took it to his office to fix it. When he’s old enough he’ll quiz him over music. Covering the screen in the car, and saying “what’s this song? Correct now who sings it?” He’ll teach him to be a gentleman. “You do not speak to your mother or any woman that way. Do you understand?” He will explain to him the importance of respect, and though he might not understand it now. It will become a part of him as he grows. Jake tries his hardest not to lose him temper, but sometimes it’s bound to happen. He’ll realized he messed up, and his son will began to tear up. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to lose my temper with you. It’s just frustrating when you don’t listen. We can fix it together okay” When the time comes to teach him about the birds and the bees. A lot of parents get weird about having this talk, and leave out important things. Not Jake he told him everything he needed to know. When he hits high school, and starts trying to sneak around Jake knows. “I was your age once too. You don’t have to sneak around. I know your going to do it regardless if I say no. So I’m not gonna try to stop you just be safe” Jake makes sure he knows if he’s ever in a situation to call him. No matter what he’ll always pick him up. He’s pounded into his head to never get behind the wheel intoxicated. The day a girl breaks his heart for the first time. He’ll come from school and immediately head for his room. Jake will give him his space for a while, but he didn’t come out all afternoon he went to check on him. He’ll tell him about a girl he loved, and how she loved another. Jake will understand, and tell him how he got over his heart breaks. His son will tear up, and Jake will tell him that it’s okay to cry. Jake will hug him, and wipe his tears. When he gets his first girlfriend Jake makes sure he’s treating her right. When he tells Jake she had a bad day he tell his son to buy her some flowers. He learned everything he knows from his dad, and Jake was always more than happy to teach him.

Good Morning Dad// J.M.K
Tumblr media
a/n ~ Just some short, soft, sweet dad Josh thoughts I couldn’t get out of my head and felt the urge to share!
The soft pitter pattering of little feet barreling down the hallway woke Josh from his slumber. A sigh slipped past his lips as he stretched his back out, sending tingles down his spine as his eyes fluttered open. Rolling on his side he propped himself up on his arm as he watched the door that was about to fly open.
As if on cue the doorknob started jiggling, his son struggling to disengage the mechanism and open the door. He could hear her giggling, trying to calm their sons excitement to break into their bedroom.
“Daddy’s still sleeping, baby.” She cooed, trying to quiet the child down. “It’s okay, I’m up.” Josh called, running a hand through the wild chestnut brown hair that sat in a poof atop his head. A squeal erupted from the little boy at the sound of his fathers voice, bringing his fists up and banging on the door as loudly as he could.
Josh couldn’t help but chuckle as his wife shushed the boy once more, finally pushing open the door and letting him inside. The little boy bolted over to Josh, a smile plastered on his face as excited squeals escaped him. He jumped twice, landing hard enough to shake the entire house before throwing the Barney stuffed animal he had over Josh and slammed his hands down on the bed, using the momentum from his jump to climb up on Josh.
A pained groan escaped him as the little boy straddled Josh’ hips, settling himself on his lap. He reached over and propped his Barney up just right on the pillows, a satisfied smile spreading across his lips as he leaned forward, putting all of his weight on Josh. The smile fell off the boys face as he looked at his hands, a look of concentration engulfing his features.
He turned them palm side up where they rested on Josh’ stomach, cupping them together - right over the left- before pulling his right hand up to his chin and slowly drawing it back to the left.
“Good,” Josh encouraged vocalizing the sign he just used and earned himself brief eye contact with his son as he watched him. The little boy slotted his right hand into the crease of his left elbow before slowly raising his left hand up slightly.
“Morning.” A smile spread across Josh’s’ face as his son slid his right hand back out from his elbow, fanning his fingers before bringing it to his forehead, pressing his thumb to his forehead and pulling it outwards.
“Dad? Good morning, dad?” Josh’s’ eyes grew wide, darting over to where his wife stood, hand covering her mouth as she reveled in the moment, a curt nod her only response.
“Good morning, peanut.” Josh cooed, smiling up at the boy whose gaze was holding Josh’s, something rare and celebrated in the Kiszka household. Josh wrapped his arms around the little boy pulling him down against his chest in a hug that caused a fit of giggles to escape the boy.
“He was so excited to show you what we’ve been working on. He’s been trying so hard all week to string the words together.” She spoke from the door, watching as their  son cuddled up against Josh’s’ side.
Tears welled in Josh’s eyes as he pressed a kiss to the little boys forehead, giggles erupting from him as he snuggled farther into Josh’s side. His little boy looked up at him, raising his right hand once more to create the sign for ‘dad’ and giggling as Josh pushed his bottom lip out in a pout.
“Five years old and that’s the first time he’s called me dad.” A chuckle slipped past his lips as he realized tears were pooling in his eyes, reaching up quickly to wipe them away before he saw.
“Better late than never.” She spoke from the doorway, turning on her heel and leaving them alone.
“You make daddy so proud, do you know that?” He cooed, poking his finger into his sons side. He giggled as he sat up, leaning the top of his head towards Josh - his way of asking for a kiss - before hopping off the bed and bolting towards the door. He stopped short, turning back to Josh and waved, quickly bringing his hand up to sign ‘dad’ for a third time that morning.
Josh chuckled sitting up as he watched the boy bolt in the direction of the kitchen. A chill ran down Josh’s spine as he stood, reaching for his phone on the beside table and stepping towards the window in their shared room glancing out over the yard before making his way into the kitchen.

Thinking about dad!Jake with a deaf son and Uncle!VanFleet.
Jake, Josh, Sam, and Danny all learn sign language to communicate with the little boy.
Jake loves playing guitar for him. If he's playing his acoustic, he lets his son put his hand on the body of the guitar to feel the vibrations. If he's playing electric, he sits on the floor directly in front of the amp with his hand on the speaker. Sign language came easily for Jake, his hands able to move fluidly, just like playing guitar. Jake was his son's favorite person to sign with, him being the easiest to communicate with, sometimes not even needing signs, just certain looks.
The boy likes to sit on Sam's lap while he plays piano, resting his hands on top of his uncle's and pressing the keys, being able to feel the vibrations of the piano. He does the same thing with Sam's amp when he plays bass, his hand on the speaker while he sits in front of it. Sam's sign language is really, really good, also because of the instruments he plays. Jake's son loves signing with Sam, his uncle's facial expressions making the conversation more interesting.
He sits safely on the floor next to Danny's right foot so he can feel the thunder of the bass drum. Sometimes, he sits with his back pressed up against the front of the drum, feeling the thump with every kick. Danny is oddly really good at sign language. He was also able to pick it up pretty easily, and his signs are very clear. The boy loves, loves, loves signing with Danny, his signs fluid and easy to understand.
When Josh, or anyone, sings to him, he lays his little hand on his throat so he can feel his voice. He does this when Josh is just talking in general. Josh is pretty good at sign language, talking with his hands being something he was used to. Other than Jake, the boy signs with Josh most often, enjoying the way his hands move differently from everyone else's.

Father’s Day - dad!Jake Kiszka x Reader
Tumblr media
Words: 450+
Summary: On Father’s Day, you surprise Jake with a very special gift, making it his first Father’s Day.
CW: MDNI, 18+, fluff, pregnancy, surprises, cursing, talks of anxiety, implications of sex, suggestive talks
Happy Father’s Day!
—————————————————————
“Goodmorning, love.” You giggled into Jake’s shoulder. He was buried under the covers, it was still pretty early in the morning.
He groans, rolling over to his other side. “Hi beautiful.” He manages to mumble.
“It’s Father’s Day.” You tell him.
He shoots up and looks at you, rubbing his eyes. “Oh shit. Is my dad coming over?” He asks, trying to blink the sleep away.
You casually shake your head, in no rush. “He’ll be here in a few hours.”
“Okay.” He accepts, he stands up and saunters over to his closet.
You sneak into the other room while he’s getting dressed and grab the gift bag you had put aside for safe keeping. You wait a few minutes until he’s fully ready to give it to him.
“Hey, Jake.” You smile, hiding the gift bag behind your back. You’re feeling all the feelings of anxiety to excitement running through you.
“What’s up?” He asks, putting the finishing touches on his outfit. He’s wearing a striped button up and light colored jeans.
“Happy Father’s Day.” You giggle.
“What?” He chuckles, not understanding what’s going on.
“Happy Father’s Day.” You repeat, becoming more nervous.
“I’m not a dad, but, thanks.” He laughs. “I mean, shit, I’ll be your daddy.”
You giggle and then shake your head. “No, Jake.”
You hand him the gift bag. His eyebrows furrow with confusion as he takes the bag from you.
He scans the bag curiously before carefully pulling the tissue paper out.
“Love…what is this?” He questions softly. “You know I don’t like surprises.” He smiles, opening the bag further.
He pulls out a black box from inside the gift bag and inspects it thoroughly. You chuckle out of nervousness. He wastes no time opening the box, and pulls out a onesie with a pattern of guitars scattered all over it. Followed by a pregnancy test. A positive one.
“No.” He gasps, his free hand flying to cover his mouth. Your heart sinks before he uncontrollably breaks out into a smile, which is then followed by laughter.
“Oh my god! You’re-” he asks through giggles.
“Yes!” You nod with a chuckle. Finally over the moon to reveal your secret with him. You wanted to make it the most special day and also tell him the news in the most special way, and figured Father’s Day was coming up, so you had to plan it out perfectly. Although the past few days were near impossible, making sure not to accidentally let it slip.
He holds you for what feels like eternity, and you wish it had been.
“Oh my god!” He repeats, in complete shock. “My love! We’re having a little love!” He exclaims, his voice breaking.
You lean in and plant a kiss on his lips. “Happy first Father’s Day, Jake.”
“My first Father’s Day.” He repeats to himself, making him beam with pride.

Morning Light
A blurb within the I Was Born to Love You Universe...
A gracev0609/ @losfacedevil collaboration.
There's so much more we want to share, periodically we will be releasing short scenes just like this one.
The sun had just started to break, sending pink rays through the gauzy sheers in your bedroom. Your eyes fluttered open, a rosy hue filled the room, and you were aware of your partner, Y/N, sleeping on your chest. Nuzzling your face in her hair you inhaled the scent of your lover, feeling a soft warmth spread in your chest, the feeling of love and contentment. You pressed soft kisses on her head and you felt her stir, lazily she pressed a kiss to your skin before falling asleep yet again. You didn't mind, it was too early for her to be awake yet anyway. Her body still sore and slightly swollen from birthing your daughter, she deserves her rest. Your gaze moves from your love to your Sunshine.
It took you one night from her arrival to move her crib from her nursery to your bedroom, you were going to be up with her anyway, and it made you feel better that you could keep an eye on her.
For the time being your daughter was still sleeping, if you looked hard enough you could see the rise and fall of her tiny chest. You thought about how perfect she was, how the two of you created something so beautiful and magical. You were so hopelessly in love, she was your everything. Before now you had never experienced a love so deep, it hurt if you thought about it too hard.
Y/N stirred in your arms again, placing another soft kiss to your chest, and you ran your fingers over the soft skin of her back. She shivered and pressed herself closer to your body. She mumbled a soft,” I love you,Josh.”
“I love you baby. You can sleep some more, I'm going to get up and get her bottle ready. She'll be awake any moment now.”
She slid off of your body and you pulled the comforter further up and over her body.
Muffled into her pillow you heard her say,” Your such a good daddy Josh.”
Your heart swelled in your chest and a soft smile appears as you quietly slip out of bed, heading to your closet to put on sweats.
Looking for a clean zip up hoodie you made a mental note to order more, they were perfect for your early morning routine with Halina. You fed her, burped her, changed her, and then snuggled her against the skin of your chest. Pulling the zipper up, so most of her body was covered in the fabric as she dozed off with a full belly.
As you padded your way to the kitchen a smile graced your lips, out of all of your various morning rituals you've had over the years, this was your favorite. You had gone through numerous waves of life, hurrying out the door to grab a coffee on the way to classes, waking up in the afternoon with hangovers, rising early to smoke and meditate, to now enjoying the sunrise with your daughter.
You grabbed a fresh bottle and a container of breast milk out of the fridge and began preparing it. Once warmed to perfection you made your way back to your bedroom, bottle in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other. Setting the drinks down on your nightstand you peered into the crib to find your Sunshine awake and wiggling.
“Hi my Sunshine. Good morning. Daddy got you breakfast, are you hungry?”
You whispered as you picked her up and cradled her. You sat back down on your side of the bed, scooting yourself backwards until your back rest against the mountain of pillows.
Getting her situated in your arms you whispered,” See your Mama knew that they would come in handy for something. She's so smart.”
Bringing the bottle to your newborn's face, you smiled when she easily latched onto the nipple. A sense of pride filled you when you helped your daughter feed, it had only been a week since she was born and you thought she was doing amazing already.
Soon enough she was slowing down, quickly getting full.
After burping her you said,“Alright love, let's get you changed and into a new outfit. I'm thinking of your yellow onesie with the smiley suns.”
You changed your daughter with care, making sure she was clean and dry before wrapping her up in her onesie.
You grabbed your now lukewarm coffee and took a large gulp before getting back into bed.
You reclined back into the pillows and unzipped your sweatshirt, tucking Halina's little legs in and holding her close to your body. Closing your eyes you took a few deep breaths, commiting the feeling of her tiny warm body against your chest to your memory. You knew that all too fast she would be growing up, getting bigger and bigger until one day she won't fit into your sweatshirt anymore.
Your fingers found purchase in the soft downy baby hair on her head. Just a few strands, you could barely call it hair. Speaking softly you asked as you rubbed her head,” What does my baby want to do today huh? Maybe take some naps, snuggle with mommy? What if we ask Uncle Sam if he wants to meet you today? We'll have to ask Mama when she wakes up. She needs her rest so she can take the best care of you.”
Eventually your daughter fell asleep to the vibrations of your voice with a tummy full of milk, and you sighed feeling content yet again. Within the next half hour or so you knew your love would wake up, and you knew you would put your daughter down in her crib and help take care of your partner. But for now you enjoyed the near silence of your bedroom, now illuminated in soft sunshine, the only sound being the breaths of the two people you loved most in this world.

Dad!Jake & Uncle!Josh blurb. Complete fluff below the cut 💙:
It's finally summer and Tommy's finally out of preschool. He's been looking forward to the very last day of school because Jake promised to take him to splash pad.
"Daddy!" He calls up the stairs. "Come on! Let's go! We still have to pick up Uncle Joshy!"
"You, my son, are highly impatient." Jake says as he comes down the stairs and fixing his sunglasses atop his head.
--
While Tommy ran around and played in the water with the other kids, Jake sat off to the side on the lounge chairs with Josh seated on the other one and tanning.
"You do know that is not the place for that," Jake says. "This is a children's splash pad."
"I'm decent," Josh says. "I only need to tan my legs anyways, geesh.."
Jake rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to growing group of kids running under water spigots, and over small sprinklers. Some stood under buckets that filled with water until it dumped all over their heads.
Out of the group of kids comes Tommy, completely soaked. His wet feet slap against the concrete as he beelines for Jake and Josh on the lounge chairs.
"Having fun out there bud?" Jake asks.
Tommy breathlessly nods his head. "So much fun.."
"Need a towel?"
"No." Tommy says shrugs his shoulders before pressing his head to Jake's side and rubbing his face and hair into the cotton fabric of his tank top.
"Oh.. I see.. I'm your towel.."
Tommy giggles and eagerly nods his head before smiling widely and running back across the concrete and into the crowd of children.
Josh snickers from his chair and adjusts his sunglasses on his face as he relaxes in the lounge chair.
Jake points a stern finger towards his brother, "You either shut up or I'm going to bribe Tommy to shake his wet hair all over you, Mister-I-Only-Need-To-Tan-My-Legs."
"Pfft, please.." Josh waves his hand in the air and shakes his head. "He's your kid, which means he's going to do it to you, thank you very much."
Contrary to Josh's statement, as a couple more hours had passed, and it was time to start packing up to go home, Tommy comes running back to his dad and uncle and stops in front of the chairs.
"You know, if Rosie were here, she'd have a blast!" Tommy says. "And she'd even shake everywhere to dry off--"
"Don't you even think about it," Jake says.
"Gotta do it for Rosie," Tommy smirks.
"Thomas Michael, I am warning you." Jake says. "You'll get every thing wet."
"No, I won't." Tommy says, forming a smirk on his face. "Just one thing--or rather, one person."
Unbeknownst to Josh, who was turned away and packing his own things, Tommy grins at Jake before charging for Josh. "Hey Uncle Joshy?"
"Yes?" Josh says, still with his back turned as he folds up his towel.
"What are your thoughts on wet dogs when they shake?"
Josh pauses his movements. He wasn't quick enough to react before Tommy's shaking his drench mop head of hair all over Josh.
"Thomas!" Josh shouts. "What are you doing?! Stop!"
Tommy bursts into laughter as he runs back around to Jake and hops onto the lounge chair. "I overheard you and Daddy talking.. He doesn't need to bribe me--whatever that means--to get me to mess with you."
Jake laughs from behind Tommy before high fiving Tommy. "Aha! Nice one!"
Josh huffs and rolls his eyes as he stands from the chair. "I wouldn't keep laughing if I were you," He says, pointing his stare at Jake. "Did you forget that we carpooled here?" He wags his eyebrows and smirks to Jake.
Jake's laughter seizes and he deadpans at Josh. "Don't you even think about it."
"Too late!" Josh says as he takes off for the parking lot.
"JOSHUA! DON'T YOU GET MY SEATS WET!" Jake yells. "Come on," He says as he quickly scoops Tommy over his shoulder and swipes the beach bag off the chair. "JOSH!"

A Lantern in the Night

A Lantern in the Night
Pairings:
Sam Kiszka x Female Reader
Josh Kiszka x Female Reader
Jake Kiszka x Female Reader
Summary: Sometimes little girls need their daddies when they’re scared.
Warnings: Girl Dad Kiszkas
Word Count: 1.7k
Sam:
Tumblr media
You and Sam sat on the edge of your daughter's bed to tuck her in for the night. Sam put the book he had just read to her on her nightstand and pulled the blankets up around her.
You flicked on her nightlight and tiny purple stars from it dimly lit up the ceiling and walls.
You each told her you loved her, gave her kisses, and got up to leave.
You were both at the door and Sam had his hand on the lightswitch when her words stopped him.
“Daddy, you didn’t check,” she said.
He gasped, turned around, and smiled at her, “I’m sorry, Angel. How could I forget?” he said as he walked back into the room.
You leaned against the doorway and watched him.
“If there’s any monsters in there, you better leave now. I’m coming!” he called as he walked over to her closet door.
He put his hand on the door handle and looked at her as she pulled herself further under her covers.
Quickly, he opened the door with an “Ah-ha! Gotcha!” and a karate chop motion as if he was actually catching someone or something in there.
His expression faded and he turned to her with a smirk on his face.
She giggled at him.
He looked around in the closet some more, pushing past hanging clothes to check the entire inside. When he was done, he closed the door and said, “Nothing,” with confidence.
Sam walked back over to the bed and got down onto his hands and knees. He lifted up her bedskirt, tilted his head sideways, and stuck it under the bed frame.
“Nothing down here either!” he called out with his voice muffled.
He popped back up off the floor and sat up on his knees. He leaned on the bed with his elbows.
“No monsters,” he assured her.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
“Of course I’m sure. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you,” he replied, “Besides, remember what I always tell you.”
“I am brave,” she said confidently.
“Right,” he said, pointing at her, “You are brave and you are strong. But now, little one, you need to go to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow- first day of preschool. You have to get some rest, okay?”
Sam leaned over to kiss her head and she nodded, smiled, and closed her eyes.
He stood up all the way and walked back to meet you in the door frame. He gave her one last look before he turned the light out and closed the door softly.
You both walked down stairs and into the kitchen. He sat down at the island as you packed her lunchbox.
“Do you think she’ll cry tomorrow?” he asked, eyeing up her new backpack that was waiting by the front door.
You shook your head.
“She’ll be fine. The question is, are you gonna cry tomorrow?” you asked, smiling.
He smiled and nodded, “Oh, absolutely I am.”
“You’re going to have to do some of those affirmations to yourself in the mirror,” you teased.
Sam laughed, raised his pointer finger in the air, and said, “I am brave. I am strong.”
Josh:
Tumblr media
The sounds of the rain outside your bedroom window lulled you to sleep and kept you asleep. That was, however, until those calming sounds quickly turned into crashes of thunder and bolts of lighting which seemed to shake the entire house. A particularly loud crash of thunder woke you and Josh up.
You both moved around in bed a little, hoping to fall back asleep. But within minutes, the door to your bedroom opened and you heard a little voice call out.
“Daddy?” she said, sniffling.
In the darkness, Josh sat up, pulled the sheets off him and got out of bed. He walked over to her, knelt down in front of her, and pushed her curly hair out of her face, which was wet with her tears.
“What’s wrong, Baby?” he whispered.
“I’m scawed,” she cried.
He picked her up, groaning as he lifted her, and carried her back over to the bed.
You turned over toward his direction and sat up on your elbow a bit. She had her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms wrapped around his neck.
“Is she okay?” you asked in a groggy voice.
“Yeah, she’s scared, that’s all. I got her. Go back to sleep, Mama.”
Josh placed her down in between the two of you and covered her up in blankets. She held on tight to a little brown bear she carried with her everywhere. He laid down next to her and whispered to her to calm her down as the thunder and lightning continued outside.
“It’s okay, Baby. It’s just thunder. But I know it’s scary,” he whispered, “But it’ll be over soon. And the sun will come back out. I promise.”
It was quiet for a minute before she spoke.
“Like da itsy bitsy spidew?” she asked in a whisper.
He let out a laugh and a sigh, “Right, just like the itsy bitsy spider.”
She lifted her hands and made a little spider with her fingertips. She began doing the hand motions to the song and started singing to herself.
“Da itsy bitsy spidew, went up da wader spout,” she whispered.
“Down came the rain and washed the spider out,” he sang softly as he spread his fingers out.
“Out came da sun and dwied up all da rain,” she continued, wiggling her fingers like they were shining.
“And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again,” they both sang as they both made the spider with their fingers again.
After they finished singing, the storm let up some. The thunder and lightning stopped, and the only sounds came from the sound of rain hitting the roof.
And after a few minutes, you began to fall asleep to the sound of your daughter breathing next to you, and Josh’s light snoring next to her.
Jake:
Tumblr media
You and Jake were laying on the couch watching a movie when the pitter patter of footsteps coming down the stairs made you both sit up a little and turn your heads towards the living room entryway.
In walked your three year old daughter in her pajamas with her blanket covering her face from her nose down.
When she saw the two of you were awake, her little legs came running over to the couch and she jumped into Jake’s lap. She laid down on his chest and put her thumb in her mouth.
“Woah, hey, what happened?” he asked softly.
She didn't answer. Instead, she buried her face into the blanket that was covering him.
“Did you have a bad dream?” he asked, stroking her head.
She nodded.
Jake held her right. He stroked her head and up and down her back and whispered, “Shhh. It’s okay. You’re safe. I got you.”
He wasn’t lying. Being in his arms felt like being in the safest place in the world.
After a few minutes, her crying faded, and Jake spoke again.
“You know what always helps me when I have bad dreams?” he asked softly.
She lifted her head just a bit to look up at him with her big Jake eyes. She shook her head and sniffled.
“Ice cream,” he whispered as his eyes widened and a small smile crept onto his face. “How’s that sound, hm?”
You couldn’t see much of her face but you could tell from her eyes that she was smiling back.
He sat up and sat her up with him. He placed her on the couch and wrapped her up with the blanket that was previously covering him. She continued holding her blanket and sucking her thumb with her free hand.
“You stay here with Mommy and I’ll be right back, okay? You want Oreo or chocolate?”
“Oweo,” she answered.
Of course she wanted Oreo. Cookies N’ Cream was Jake’s favorite. So naturally, it was hers too.
He looked at you and his eyes silently asked you if you wanted any. You waved him off and shook your head. You had every intention of going upstairs to sleep the second he came back.
You put on a movie for her and helped her dry her face while Jake spent a few minutes in the kitchen.
He returned with two bowls of ice cream in his hands and handed her one. A small smile lit up her face as she looked down into the bowl to see Jake gave her just a little bit more than he normally would.
“Oooh, what are we watching?” he asked as he settled down next to her and pulled some of the blanket onto his legs so they were now sharing it.
“Moana,” she said in her little voice, pointing to the television.
“Oooh, Moana? My favorite,” he replied. Again, he wasn’t lying.
You kissed her goodnight on the cheek and tasted ice cream on Jake’s lips as you kissed him.
“I’ll put her to bed once she falls asleep and come up in a little bit,” he whispered as you pulled away from him.
“Kay,” you replied.
You gave them one last look as you left the room. She had cuddled herself into his side and her eyes were wide and she carefully scooped some ice cream out of her bowl and into her mouth.
Jake was right, ice cream did make her feel better.
You woke up the next morning in an empty bed, which was unusual. You walked into the hallway to see your daughter’s bedroom door open and her bed empty as well.
When you walked downstairs and into the living room, you smiled at the sight of two empty bowls on the coffee table, Jake cuddled up in blankets on one end of the couch, and your daughter on the other.
Author's Note: I thought these were cute and I like how they’re short and sweet. Enjoy! Pls don’t ask for Dad Danny- idk him like that.

The Music Is You // Dad J.M.K
Tumblr media
a/n~ This thought has plagued me for so long, it’s one of my favorite dad Josh thoughts honestly and 100% something I can see for him. Hey... psssst @risingwiththeheatabove short soft dad Josh thoughts for your Thursday afternoon? =)
His little boy was almost as tall as he was.
Josh couldn’t help but chuckle when his son had grabbed his hand and dragged him into his bedroom; standing him in the middle of his room and promptly lifting his arms in Josh’s direction. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Eli’s forehead.
“You can get in bed by yourself, bud. C’mon.” Josh encouraged, patting the side of the twin sized bed as his son stuck his bottom lip out in a pout. He kept his arms outstretched, resting his hands against Josh’s chest gently as the corners of his lips turned down.
“What do you need, Eli?” He mumbled, bending at the waist and wrapped his arm under the little boys bottom. A smile tugged at the boys lips as Josh situated himself making sure the boy was secure in his arms. Eli turned his head and leaned forward, presenting his cheek to his father. Josh chuckled, pressing rapid fire kisses against the boys cheek.
“Are you ready for bed?” Josh cooed, splaying his hand across Eli’s back as the little boy leaned forward, letting his arms fall to his sides as he rested his cheek on Josh’s shoulder. A soft ‘oh’ escaped Josh as he realized what Eli was asking for.
Josh began gently swaying side to side, slipping his hand up underneath Eli’s shirt as he ran his hand soothingly over his back. His eyes fluttered shut as he began to hum, knowing the vibration of his vocal cords dancing against Eli’s shoulder would soothe him; moving in a circle as he swayed.
“Music makes pictures and often tells stories..”
Josh kept his voice low, taking note of how his sons body began to melt into his own. He traced soothing designs across Eli’s back, raising goosebumps on the little ones skin as he continued to hum. Eli’s breathing began to even out and shallow as sleep enveloped him.
“All of it magic, all of it true.”
He continued to sway in place, leaning back slightly as he switched his arms out, suddenly realizing just how heavy Eli was when he was dead weight. Josh shook out his wrist lightly, placing his hand back on Eli’s back.
“And all of those pictures, and all of the stories.”
He pressed soft kisses against the back of Eli’s head, bouncing slightly to redistribute the weight he was holding. His mind wandering to how he planned to lay him down without waking him.
“All of the magic, the music is you.”
She stood in the doorway, a smile spread across her face as she took in the sight in front of her. She had to hold back the giggles as her eyes danced over Josh’s figure, noting how Eli’s hands rested at Josh’s waist, his feet falling well below Josh’s kneecaps.
“You look silly, Papa.” She called, her voice barely a whisper. She could imagine the way he’d roll his eyes as he turned in her direction, finger pressed firmly to his lips to silence her.
Soft snores emanating from Eli’s chest indicated to Josh he had finally fallen asleep. Turning on his heel he stood in front of the boys bed, wracking his brain on how he was going to get Eli off of his chest and into his bed. Josh chuckled softly, pressing his hand firmly against Eli’s back as he tried his best to maneuver him into bed.  Slipping his arm between the boys hip and pelvis as he hiked him up high enough to comfortably lay him down.
She knew better than to offer help, watching as he struggled to finally lay Eli in his bed. Josh pressed soft kisses against his little boys cheek as he covered him with his weighted blanket, whisperings of good nights slipping past Josh’s lips.
Josh stood and turned to her, waving his hands at her to usher her out as he flicked the light switch and shrouded the boys room in darkness. She giggled as she stepped out of the room, hearing the bedroom door click as she turned to Josh.
“He’s almost 7, he’s getting too big for that, babe. You’re not gonna be able to rock him to sleep much longer.” Josh held his finger to his lips, not wanting to hear what she was saying.
“I’ll rock him for as long as I can hold him, thank you very much.” She giggled, wrapping her arms around Josh’s neck as she leaned her weight into him.
“Even when he’s 10?” She cooed, lifting up on her toes to press a soft kiss to his cheek. He nodded, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“As long as I can hold him.” He pressed a soft kiss to her nose, nodding his head in the direction of their bedroom. A soft sigh slipped past her lips as she pulled away from him, turning on her heel and walking in the direction of their room.
“He’ll always be my baby.” Josh chuckled, opening the bedroom door slightly to check on the boy once more before making his way to bed.

Baby of Mine
Tumblr media
Josh x Reader (f)
Warnings: talk of struggling with breastfeeding
“Josh, please can you take her? I’m getting overwhelmed and she can sense it.” You ask, trying to not start crying along with her. “Poor thing is still hungry and nothing’s coming out. I’m going to cry. Why is this so hard?”
Josh takes her into his arms and starts swaying back and forth. “How about I go warm up some of the stash in the fridge and you go take a shower and pump. We’ll be fine while you're gone Mama. And hey, it's going to be okay.”
Sighing and taking one last look at your daughter, you turn to go take a shower. While you’re in the shower, you make sure the water is hot and you gently massage your chest. It takes a while, but finally milk starts to come out. Turning off the shower, you step out, wrap a towel around you and go to pump.
Sitting in your nursing chair in your room, you put on a nursing bra and attach the breast pump. Sitting there, you pulled up the baby’s camera system on your phone to check on Josh and the baby. Josh was gently bouncing from side to side and giving the baby her bottle.
“That’s right little lady, drink it all up and grow big and strong.” He whispers. “You know your mama has been working super hard to make this milk for you. She’s been eating oatmeal, drinking special drinks with coconut water in it, all kinds of stuff. But, I think it might be getting too much for her. So, you might be switching to something else called formula. I think it’d really help Mama.”
You start to tear up. Because it’s true. Your supply hadn’t been keeping up with her needs and you’ve been trying everything. You were exhausted and felt defeated. You knew that fed is best, but you had dreamed of breastfeeding her and forming the bond so many mothers online said they’d had when they breast fed. But this wasn’t working. You knew it wasn’t. You also knew that you shared a bond with her that was so strong it scared you sometimes and it had nothing to do with whether or not she was breast fed.
You decided this would be the last night she would be exclusively breast fed. You and Josh had talked about it off and on for a while now, but you had made up your mind. She needed her mom to be okay more than she needed the breast milk. You finished pumping, and unhooked everything and went to bag what you had gotten. You'd tell him once she was asleep.
As you finished, you heard Josh walk from your daughter’s room to yours. Walking to your room to see if she was asleep, you heard him singing. When you got to the doorway, you leaned against the frame.
Josh was gently putting her in her bassinet beside your bed and shushing her to sleep. When he thought she’d finally fallen asleep, he straightened and looked over at you with a sympathetic smile.
He walked over to you and kissed your forehead. “Hey Mama.” He whispered.
“Hey.” You said with a sigh, taking his hand to lead him away from your sleeping baby.
“There’s something I want to talk to you about.” You say as you walk into the livingroom and sit on the sofa.
“What’s that my love?” He asks, sitting beside you and putting his arm around you.
Cuddling into his side, you say, “I’d like to start supplementing with formula. I still want to breastfeed her for as long as I can. But, I think topping her off with formula would take a lot of stress off me and it would be better for her. What do you think?”
“I think whatever will help you is what we’ll do. You're her mama and know what’s best for the both of you. I support you in whatever you decide. But, I do agree that supplementing would help both of you.” He says, rubbing your arm with his thumb. “Would you like to go online and do a little research on what the best formula would be for her?”
“Yes please. It’ll give me an idea about what to bring up with her pediatrician and get their thoughts.” You say, leaning over and kissing his cheek.
You both sat with laptop and phone in hand and researched together. It eased both your minds to do it. About thirty minutes later, you heard your little one start to fuss. She wasn’t due to wake up yet, so Josh got up and said he’d soothe her back to sleep. You nodded and thanked him.
You continued to read articles and reviews for a few more minutes before you pulled up the baby monitor app to see if he’d gotten her back to sleep. When you opened the app, he was leaning over the bassinet and rubbing her belly and you saw his lips moving. Turning on the sound, you hear him sing…
“... But you’re so precious to me. Cute as can be, baby of mine.”

Waited all my life.
Tumblr media
Dad Josh that was supposed to be a blurb, but turned into my longest fic ever. Update I am going to make this into a part 2.
Warnings: pregnancy, birth (at home), mentions of childhood trauma, crying. If I missed any let me know.
~
Josh was in love with your baby the moment you found out you were pregnant. It started when you were a day late. No big deal it will come. Two days there’s still plenty of hope. Three … no worry. Then the two week mark hit, and you knew something was up.
“Josh I need to talk to you” you said sitting him down on the bed.
“Right now sweetheart? Jake and Danny are downstairs” he questioned.
“Josh it’s really important it can’t wait” you reassured him.
“Okay darling I am here talk to me” he took your hands into his.
“I am late”
“By how many days?” He asked.
You said softly “two weeks”
“Do you think it’s a possibility?”
“I feel weird Josh. I just can’t explain it”
“Okay darling I hear you. we’ll get a test and go from there okay? Don’t worry”
That’s all it took for him to hop in the car. He got you what you needed, making sure to bring a few of your favorite snacks back. You sat on the couch with Jake and Danny. Listening to all their crazy stories. Jake told you about the last time he took mushrooms, and all the wild shit that came with it. Danny added some stories of his own to the mix. Josh arrived back home with the box of pregnancy test in hand.
Jake stops mid sentence “pregnancy scare huh?
“Might be more than a scare”
~
You walked out of the bathroom, and waited for the timer. You got lost in the conversation. It almost seemed like that was Jake’s plan. He could tell your anxiety was through the roof. Every time he’d notice you starting to zone out he would bring you back. He did the best he could until that dreaded ringtone burst into the cozy conversation.
“Can I come with you or would you rather do it alone?” Josh asked looking down praying you’d let him in.
“Of course I want you with me silly” you laughed softly before opening the bathroom door. “You ready?”
He stared at the faced down pregnancy test, and took a deep breath“yes”.
You saw it
You knew it was true. Every emotion hit you at once. “Hey it’s gonna be okay. Lemme make sure” Josh took off sprinting into the living room. He grabbed the paper and there it said.
“Two lines” he said almost a whisper “Y/N TWO FUCKING LINES!”
He ran back as fast as he could. You felt like crying, but you didn’t want him to think you were upset. Instead you wrapped your arms around his neck giving him a kiss. “Your gonna be the best dad darling”
The rest of the night went well. Jake wrapped Josh in his arms for a long and tight hug. “I am so happy for you brother”. Jake knew Josh had always wanted to be a dad. Growing up he’d always dreamed of it. When they reached adulthood together he’d would always ask Jake if he ever thought about having kids. He’d tell him all his hopes for a future. Then he met you, and he told Jake it would be you. You would be the one to give him his dream. A little baby. A bundle of joy. A child to pour all his love into. Your the only one he’s ever thought about having kids with. He’s brought it up before, but never flat out asked if you were ready. Making little comments like “I just can’t wait to have kids”. “We’re gonna be such good parents one day”. Or when he sees a baby in public, and he gets a big warm smile “don’t you just want you one?”
A few days past he asked you about telling his parents. You talked about it for a while and decided to give them a call in the morning. The next day came and immediately he was on the phone telling his mom to get the next flight to Nashville. He spent all day pacing around the house. Cleaning things that didn’t to be clean, reorganizing, cleaning some more.
The front door opened no need for knocking. They reunited talking loudly over each other, and lots of hugs. It didn’t matter that you saw them all a week ago. Sam came in after his parents. Jake making a big entrance almost an hour after everyone arrived.
Jake and Josh headed outside to throw some food on the grill. You stayed in chatting with his family. They were pretty much your family at this point.
~
After everyone finished their meal Josh stood up. He signaled for you to stand with him, and so you did.
“Guys I need everyone’s attention” he kissed your forehead, and placed an hand on your belly. “We’re gonna have a baby. She’s pregnant”. That’s all it took for everyone to be back on their feet. Hugging the both of you. A few tears were shed from his momma. You loved her dearly. Karen was the first one to take you in, and treat you like her own.
You looked over at Sam to find his jaw dropped. “No words Sammy?”
“I am so fucking happy for you” he ran and wrapped you in a hug. You were surprised by this Sammy was never affectionate towards you. In return you hugged him tighter, and stayed there for a while.
Papa Kiszka noticing jakes nonchalant reaction he asked him about it. Jake explained that him and Danny were there you found out. Karen was very jealous. She would have loved to of been there when you found out. She’s been waiting for grandkids. She always said Josh would be the first to give her some. Guess moms are always right.
~
The next 9 months we’re spent planning, and heavy thinking. Karen there every step of the way. Sometimes getting to much in your business, and josh getting annoyed at her. You always reminded him how lucky he is to have her. Your mother wasn’t quite the mothering type. Hence to all your childhood trauma. You knew you would never let your kid grow up the way you did. That’s why you decide to not let her know you were pregnant. You didn’t want her involved with this life your creating. She always ruined yours. You never want your baby to feel how you had too.
You and Josh being the non traditional people that you are. You’ve decided to an at home birth. A water birth. Karen supported your decision adding that the hospital is very pushy. Plus all the hospitals policies were something Josh and you didn’t agree with. Knowing Josh would end up with wrinkles and grey hair with all that stress before the baby was even born. After all you didn’t want to be told how to give birth. It’s your body’s natural process, and not a medical emergency. You two like to do things a natural way. That meaning literally everything you two did.
Of course you made sure this was completely safe to do. Making sure you weren’t high risk, and assuring the babies safety.
~
Names names names.
“What about _?”
“You really wanna name our kid _? Do you want our poor baby to get made fun of?”
“Okay then. Your so dramatic mama. What about this one?”
“Joshua really”
“Well considering we planned on not knowing the gender till birth it has to work both ways”
“I’ve got one … River”
And it stuck.
~
A couple weeks past and Josh’s family had a huge family gathering. Celebrating a few birthdays that were past or coming up, the boys success with the band, and to announce your baby on the way. You two slept over that night to help set up the next morning. Josh woke up, and decided to let you sleep. He covered the blankets back over you, and headed for the kitchen. You awoke about an hour later not feeling so well.
“Good morning my pretty girl” he kissed your forehead. “How’s our baby?” He bent down kissing your stomach.
“Babies good. I am not feeling so great though” you told him. “ I feel like I am gonna be sick”
“Oh it’s morning sickness my dear” Karen told you finishing up breakfast.
You felt it rising, and looked around frantically for a safe place. Josh could tell by the look on your face what was about to happen. “Trash can sweetheart” he quickly walked you to it.
You felt terrible even tho you couldn’t help it. Tears threatening your eyes, and you tried to hide them well. “Hey don’t even worry about it sweet girl”. Josh’s kind words making you want to crawl into his arms and cry. “Don’t cry angel”. He swiped his fingers under your eyes to dry up any tears.
You apologized to Karen she just waved her hand, and said “you have nothing to be sorry about. Trust me I’ve had four kids I know how it feels”. Josh took you to the bathroom to run you a shower. He sat on the bathroom counter and talked to you as you cleaned up. After, you greeted his family and announced the news again, but to a bigger crowd this time.
~
Around three months in you and josh started on the nursery. You painted the walls a beautiful shade of light blue. One evening you went to the store to grab a certain snack. Pregnancy cravings are no joke. You came back to find josh painting little clouds on the wall. He picked the wall the crib was going on.
“Josh” you said looking at the clouds.
“I got carried away we can paint over them I just-”
“No no no love it’s perfect. The baby is gonna love em” you said tearing up. Surely just the pregnancy hormones, but this was a beautiful moment. “Awe baby don’t cry” he took you in a hug. “I am glad you like them”
~
Nearing the time of your due date Karen stayed with you. She slept in the guest bedroom so you never had to be alone. One night you’ve began feeling contractions, so Karen started timing them. You were in pain, but enough to function. You moved around a a yoga ball josh insisted you buy. Josh began playing music through the speakers. At this point joshs closest family was there. Along with your closest friends.
“Come dance with me darling” josh held his hand out.
You giggled through the contractions “josh I can’t”.
“Don’t lie to me” he joked “C’mon on ya feet I’ll hold you up”.
How could you stay no to that?
You began dancing more like waddling around with josh. Then suddenly the feeling of water dripped down your legs. You looked down immediately knowing what just happened. Josh knew too “Her water broke!” Josh shouted.
Everyone sprung into action. The midwife was called and the small circular inflatable birthing pool was put up. You got in the pool with help from josh.
Only Karen, josh, and the midwife were in the room now. Giving you your space as they all waited anxiously in your living room.
“I can’t josh” you cried in pain.
“Yes you can your so fucking strong” josh stood on the side holding you up as you bent over the pool side.
You gripped Josh leaving finger nail prints on his arm.
“Your almost there I promise” Karen told you.
You squeezed the fuck out of Josh’s hand as he talked you through it. “It’s almost over darling. I am so fucking proud of you” his eyes started to swell this tears. “I am so proud of you” he whispered.
One final push
The moment you waited 9 whole months for was before you. A thousand feelings hit you. Sad? Happy? Relieved? Pain? No a feeling that didn’t have a name. You couldn’t explain it because you’ve never felt it before. I sense a change. Protectiveness. A motherly feeling.
The midwife carefully examined, and lifted the newborn out of the water. The gender was announced, and josh started crying harder. The baby was laid on your chest as tears streamed down your face.
After some time the question was asked “Anyone cutting the umbilical cord?”
Josh’s eyes met yours. “Would you like to?” You asked him.
“I would love to”
He was showed where to cut it once he lined it up he asked if it was right just to make sure. He got the go ahead, and cut the umbilical cord.
~
You josh got a moment alone.
“May I?” Josh said asking to sit in the water with you.
“Please” you said. When he sat down softly you handed him his daughter. Karen being the only one beside you two who knew the gender yet.
“She’s so beautiful” he began to cry. “Just like her mama. I am so happy to meet you baby” He rambled to his daughter for quite some time.
“I’ve waited all my life for you”
An hour past and your excitement grew “When do you want to show them?” You asked.
“Whenever your ready mama” he said handing her back to you. You told him you were, but asked if he wanted to let Jake announce the gender. He got teary eyed again more than happy to let his twin be involved. When Karen came back you requested Jake come in alone for a minute.
“They said there about ready, but they’d like Jake to come in alone first” Karen said.
“Me?” Jake stood up and gently opened the door. He immediately washed his hands before heading over to you.“Oh my god. It’s not bald” he laughed.
“No she’s not” you laughed.
“It’s a girl” he smiled “I fucking knew it”
You started handing River over to Jake. “Are you sure?”
“Yes of course. We want to ask you something as well” you said looking at josh to finish.
“Would you like to announce the gender?” Josh said.
“I would fucking love to. Are you sure?” You both nodded, and looked down at the infant in his arms. “Hey little girl it’s uncle Jakey. Well aren’t you just the prettiest”
You watched josh and he looked at Jake with complete love in his eyes. Watching his twin brother hold his daughter made all this seem real. Tears ran down his face again making you start to cry.
“Oh god don’t do that” Jake said looking at you two. He looked down again “your gonna make me cry to pretty girl” his eyes began to water. He looked up and took a breath refusing to let them fall. “Emotional moment ay?”
You laughed at Jake’s attempt to stop the tears.
“Ugh I guess I gotta share ya huh? You ready to meet em sweetheart?”
~
Everyone was called in, and the room was filled with love as everyone gasps and cooed at the newborn. Jake still held her in his arms as his sister Ronnie tried to take her.
“Back off” he joked. “I’ve got news folks” the room went quite “Rivers a girl”.
As calm and relaxed as Karen’s been the whole journey you began to watch her eyes swell. Not only was it her first granddaughter, but that josh needed Jake to be included. No matter how old they may get they still needed each other. As much as you’d need oxygen to breathe. Even though this was Josh’s moment he needed Jake to share it with.

CW: 18+, MDNI, fluff, periods, talks of pain & period symptoms, use of pain medicine, surprises, cursing, there’s just lots of fluff, use of pet names, I believe that’s all!?
—————————————————————
6:32 p.m.
Jake: Come over?
You glance down at the notification on your phone and let out a loud sigh. You had just gotten your period yesterday and all the symptoms were hitting you like a brick. You reread his text a few times and think of all the possibilities. The second and third days were always the worst for you, and in no way did you want Jake to see you like this. You type out your response and bury yourself under another blanket.
6:36 p.m.
You: I don’t think that’s a good idea.
6:37 p.m.
Jake: Is everything alright?
6:38 p.m.
Jake: Call me.
Of course he’s going to be suspicious, you never say no to spending time with him. You watch as his name and face light up the screen. You let out a groan and lift the phone up to your ear.
“Jake-” You start.
“Hi Beautiful. What’s wrong?” He asks, worried.
“I'm fine. I’m just a bit preoccupied. That's all.” You unconvincingly tell him.
“Yeah, Y/N. I know you well enough to know that you're not fine right now.”
“Jake, I'm fine. I swear.” You had a feeling he wasn’t going to back down until you really told him what was wrong.
He inhales, and you can tell he's growing more concerned. “But you’re not.”
You liked Jake so much, and you really had a strong connection with him. But you just weren’t close enough with him yet to feel comfortable talking about all your period problems. You didn’t know how'd he react- if he’d be grossed out, or if he wouldn’t be understanding, or maybe he just didn’t want anything to do with this stuff. That is what made you the most nervous. It was a weird phase in your relationship that you couldn’t wait to get past. But maybe, this was the push that was needed to get you past it after all.
“Okay, Jake. Maybe you're right.” You fold, clutching your blanket closer to your chest.
“You know I’m here for you, always will be. So, lay it on me.”
“Well…” You hesitate for a bit. “I’m-uh, I got my period yesterday and I guess, I’m just not feeling well.” You shyly admit.
“Oh…” Jake pauses and a lump forms in your throat. “Honey, why didn’t you tell me sooner?” He asks softly.
“I just- I didn’t know how you’d take it.”
“Baby, I’m always gonna be here for you. I mean it. Don’t be scared or nervous to talk about natural things with me.” He takes a breath. “Maybe some company will help.”
“Okay.” You whisper softly.
It's Jake, of course he would understand.
“I’m coming over. Hold tight.” He tells you before hanging up the phone.
You continue to lay down, scrolling mindlessly on your phone while you wait for Jake to come over. There’s no use in getting ready, he’s going to show up soon and you feel comfortable enough to be around him now that he knows what you’re going through.
Even though Jake only lives down the street from your place, it still takes him about 45 minutes until he arrives. You hear the tires pull onto the driveway and decide to send him a text.
7:26 p.m.
You: Key is under the mat. Don’t feel like getting up.
A few minutes later, you hear the door open and Jake’s voice announces his arrival.
“Honey?!”
“In here.” You sluggishly call out as footsteps grow closer to your room.
Your bedroom door swings open and Jake peers his head in. His eyes land on you, laying in bed.
“Hi, honey.” He softly smiles. He walks into your bedroom and you notice he's carrying multiple bags in hand. “You okay?”
“Hi Jakey.” You smile back at him, the only time you’ve smiled today. “Well, I kinda feel like shit. What’cha got there?”
“I would've gotten here sooner, except I made an essential pit stop on the way.” He tells you, dumping the bags on your bed.
“Awh, Jake, You didn't have to.”
“Let me take care of you.” He delicately runs his hand down your cheek, moving any hair out of your face. “There's that beautiful face.”
You begin to rummage through the bags together, seeing the various things he got for you.
“Well, I might’ve gone overboard.” He says as he pulls out a box of pads and a box of tampons. “I didn’t know which ones you preferred.”
“Thank you.” you nod. “That’s very thoughtful.”
“That’s not all.” He enthusiastically takes a bottle of Advil out of the bag and tosses it over to you. He then pulls out some chocolates and a box of herbal tea bags. “I can make this for you, you just let me know when you’d like it.”
“Thank you.” You graciously reach for a piece of chocolate and begin to munch on it. You immediately down the Advil in an attempt to get any sort of relief from the terrible cramps and the aching headache, amongst other symptoms.
“And, since you deserve it…” He reaches his hand into the second bag, and pulls out a bunch of body care items. “I got you a few bath bombs, a face mask, some body wash, and epsom salt. And look, this kind is specifically for periods.” He tells you, pointing to the package that reads ‘menstrual relief’.
You break out into a huge smile, nobody has ever done anything as sweet as this for you.
“Jake-” You sigh happily. “This is so sweet. Thank you.”
Even though your insides felt like they were at war with each other and all you wanted to do was bury yourself under a mountain of blankets for the next week, you couldn’t help but crack a smile. Jake always brought out the best in you.
“No need to thank me. I just want to see you happy.” He smiles and leans over to give you a hug.
He stands back up, and puts his hands on his hips while he thinks for a moment.
“Okay, so…” He begins. “You’re gonna stay here, and I’ll be right back.” He tells you before grabbing one of the bags off of your bed and walking out of your room.
You have no clue what he’s doing or where he’s going, so you begin to scroll mindlessly on your phone. You hear water begin to run in your bathroom. About 10 minutes later, Jake walks back into your bedroom.
“Where’d you go?” you question through a giggle.
“Come on. I’m gonna take good care of you.” He declared, helping you up out of bed.
“I can get up by myself.” you joked.
“I know you can, I just want to help.” He replied.
Feeling his strong arms wrapped around your waist while you went to stand was more than enough to send shivers down your spine.
“Okay, close your eyes and follow me.” He requests with a cheeky smile written across his face.
You sigh and close your eyes. He grabs your hand so he can easily guide you into the other room.
As he walks you across the hall, hand in hand, a relaxing aroma fills the air. You know you’ve entered the bathroom when you feel switch between the hallway's hardwood floors to the cold tile on your feet.
“Okay, ready?” He asks, squeezing your hand.
“Mhm.” You nod softly.
“Okay…open!” He announces.
You open your eyes to see the most relaxing bathroom set up ever. The lights are dimmed, there are burning candles on the countertop, your essential oil diffuser is pumping out lavender oil to help you relax, and there is a fully ready bubble bath awaiting you.
“I made you a bath.”
“Jake!” you gasp. “You did all of this? For me?”
“I sure did. You deserve it the most.” He lets go of your hand. “I’m sorry you’re going through so much right now.”
“It’s fine, Jake. It’s only my period. I get them every month.” You laugh, giving him an embrace. “This is the most thoughtful, sweetest thing anybody has ever done for me.”
“I know periods are monthly.” He laughs. “But if there is the slightest thing I can do for you during it, I will a hundred percent do it for you.”
“Thank you.” You grin, pulling out of the hug. “Stay the night?”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” He holds your forearms delicately and looks into your eyes. You could feel yourself getting lost in his deep brown eyes, and he gets lost in yours. After a few moments, you both snap back to reality.
He nervously giggles. “Oh! Don’t want the bath to get cold.”
You turn to face the bath and notice a tray next to your sink containing a face mask and one of the bath bombs he had just gotten for you. Jake sees that you notice the tray and carries it over to you.
“Almost forgot, you can use this face mask in the bath, if you want.” He kindly offered. “And I figured you’d want to put the bath bomb in yourself. Watch it fizz up..y’know..” He gives you a shy grin. He makes sure you’ve got everything you need to enjoy your bath time before he leaves you be.
After being able to decompress and clean yourself off in the warm and relaxing bath, you get out and wrap yourself in a fluffy towel that Jake had set aside for you. This was such a nice gesture from him, but it definitely wasn’t out of the norm for Jake. He always went out of his way to show his love, and this was no exception. Looking back, you had no idea why you were so nervous to tell him. You quickly dry yourself off and walk back to your room.
Back in your bedroom, you immediately notice your bed had been made with a set of freshly clean sheets. On top of your neatly made bed laid your most comfortable lounge clothes gracefully folded. Next to them were the boxes of pads and tampons that Jake had just bought for you. You quickly got dressed and wasted no time to make yourself comfortable. Jake was out in your living room, giving you privacy and space until you were decent.
“Darling, may I come in now?” He asks, knocking lightly on the door.
“Yes you may.” You reply, adjusting your shirt.
“How was the bath?” He inquires, laying down next to you.
“It was so nice. I feel so much better now.”
“I’m glad.” He chuckles.
“Thank you, really.” You say, turning to face him in bed. The smell of the clean sheets mixed with Jake’s musky cologne is more than enough to bring you peace.
“No need to thank me. I’m doing the bare minimum for you.”
“Wait, actually-”
“What do you need?” He immediately jumps up, ready to fulfill any of your requests.
“Could you bring me my heating pad?”
“Of course, honey.” He wastes no time and runs out of the room. He doesn’t want to leave you waiting.
“In the bathroom closet!” You exclaim, making sure he can hear you from wherever he is.
A few moments later, he saunters back into your room with it in hand. “Aha!” He plugs it in and hands it to you.
The rest of the night was spent with the two of you cuddling and watching some of your favorite comfort movies together. He even ordered take out from your favorite Chinese restaurant, per request.
That entire week he spent at your place, waiting on you hand and foot. He had you completely spoiled, but he knew you deserved it. Anything you needed, he jumped up at the first chance to get it for you.
