your son isn’t fussy, but like all babies, he has those moments where he’s so fussy and won’t stop crying no matter what toys, pacifier, or cooing words you give him. the first time one of his nonstop crying fits occur, kageyama panics as nothing the two of you do helps. he remembers his sister making silly faces for his nieces when they were younger, and so kageyama takes his crying son into his arms, peers down at him, and unsure of what face to make, he breaks out into a smile.
tobio knows that people (especially his teammates) make fun of his smile. they say it’s awkward and looks kind of uncanny, but the minute he smiles down at his baby, he immediately stops crying. his son tilts his head curiously before letting out an excited gurgle, and you start laughing.
“tobio, i think he likes your smile!”
now, every time your baby is crying for apparently no reason, all kageyama has to do is smile for him and his son will erupt into laughter, high pitched baby giggles filling the house as he looks up at his father. when kageyama is away at practice, you’ll show your son a photo from one of kageyama’s many awkward promotional photoshoots, and it’s enough to get your baby to stop crying.
the two of you don’t realize what effects this will have on your son, though. when you receive his kindergarten yearbook photo, you burst out laughing as you realize he’s the spitting image of kageyama: same eye color, same bowl cut (he wanted to be just like daddy), and same exact awkward, uncanny smile.
(there’s no way you’re going to let kageyama continuously grin at your daughter. you will not subject her to that.)

Haikyuu men as fathers pt 3.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 4
Ft. Sakusa, Iwaizumi, Kageyama, and Osamu.
The age range of the kids will differ for each character but it’s from babies up til like 17 or 18 (also sometimes I model the parenting off of the way my parents were w me n my little sibs lol)
CW: Indication of pregnancy, relationships, marriage, certain styles of parenting,
Enjoy lovelies <33
………………..
Sakusa Kiyoomi:
The panic on his face is pure gold. “Babe… Babe she’s drooling on me!” You whip out your phone so fast. “Smile for the camera, Kiyo!”
He’s pouting, but you don’t really care. Not after you told him to grab her bib because she might drool. He insisted that ‘my little girl won’t drool on me.’ And now here he is panicking about it.
It’s not that he minded her saliva… it’s that he’s in uniform because he wanted to hold Kokomi before heading to work.
Your nine month old daughter is clapping her hands at her dad. You’re sure she finds this whole ordeal hilarious just like you do.
“Stop recording me and get the bib. It’s gonna get on my uniform.” He says with his eyebrows furrowed. “What happened to ‘oh she won’t drool on me’ I thought you didn’t need the bib.” You mock your boyfriend of three years.
He frowns and sets Kokomi onto the floor. “Go crawl to mommy, yeah?” She immediately starts crying and you knew this would happen. Your baby is most definitely a daddy’s girl.
“Kiyoomi, pick her back up. She wants her daddy.” He glares at your statement because you’re still mocking him. “This is not funny.” He states. Just as you were about to make a comeback Kokomi took the both of you by surprise.
She was crying and crawling over to Kiyoomi, “Da- DAA!” Both your eyes widen at the realization that’s she’s saying ‘da da.’ You open up your phone and press record. “Kiyo! Make her say it again.”
“I can’t just magically make her say it.” He says sarcastically and you roll your eyes. “That’s not what I mean! Start walking away I’m sure she’ll say it again.” Kiyoomi walks very slowly so she has time to catch up by crawling and sure enough she says it again, “DA DA.”
You stop the recording and clap your hands. “Good job, princess! That is da da!” Kiyoomi picks her up and wipes her tears with his hand.
“Don’t cry little one, da da’s right here.” He assures her and she claps again.
And for the next couple of weeks all Kiyoomi heard was “da da.”
Sure you were bummed she didn’t say “mama” first, but guess what? You aren’t the one who has to go help her when Kiyoomi’s around because all your little princess wants is her “da da”
He’s so sensitive abt her, for example he cries on her first birthday because “she’s growing so fast”
He teases you for being jealous of your daughter, but you can’t help it! She’s getting all his attention :( (he tends to you later <3)
He seems like the type of dad to sign his kid up for a bunch of sports/activities so he can try to find something for her to become good at
He has tea parties with her, she loves when you play the charming prince and kiyoomi plays the pretty princess 😂
OMG whenever she has nightmares he’ll follow her back to her room and sleep in her bed w her (you keep telling him he’s gonna break it lmfao)
Doesn’t let her date for a LONGGGGG time
He spoils her absolutely rotten
He cried tears of joy when he saw his little girl walking down the aisle being the cutest little flower girl at your guys’ wedding
SUCH A SOFT DAD, she’ll ask for something and you’ll give him that look so he’s like “N-no.” And she gives him those eyes and he’s like “baby, how I can say no to those eyes?!”
Iwaizumi Hajime:
“HIGHER DADDY, HIGHER!” Your seven year old daughter screams as Iwaizumi launches her into the air and catches her.
“Sato has to have his turn, pumpkin.” He sets his little girl down and comes over to you with grabby hands for his son.
“He’s one Haji, that might scare him.” You reason. He takes him anyway and you shake your head.
He throws Sato up into the air, it’s not too high. He catches the chubby little baby and you wait for the crying. It never comes though, because you hear your little boy giggle.
”What’d I tell you, sweetheart?” His face is smug because he was right.
“Daddy lift me up too! Mommy says you’re very strong!” She too has grabby hands. “Oh really?” He says smirking. The brunette lifts up his daughter so he’s holding both children in his arms.
You’re staring, hard. You and Iwaizumi have created a beautiful little family that’s bound to grow bigger at your surprise.
“Take a picture, Mommy. It’ll last longer.” His tone is laced with smugness. “Yeah yeah.” You roll your eyes. Even though his statement was meant as a joke you pull out your phone and take a picture anyway.
As he’s about to set them down you stop him, “wait we gotta get one more with me in it!” You say walking over to them to take a selfie.
“We don’t want our other little one to feel left out, now do we?” It takes him a second to realize what you said. It was too funny not to document his response so you snap pics of his surprised face.
“You’re pregnant?!” He says in shock. “Yeah, thanks to somebody.” Your daughter is next to speak.
“It’s because of the baby fairy, right?!” She asks excitedly.
Iwaizumi laughs, “yeah, the baby fairy is bringing you another little sibling.” Iwaizumi explains with a big smile on his face. You want to flip him off but not in front of the kids.
He’ll take his little girl to the gym (and his son when he gets older) and use her to do his work outs (She’ll be on his back while he’s doing push ups, “five more, Daddy!”)
teaches his children the importance of health
i can see him empowering his daughter and telling her if someone hits her then she has permission to hit back
sometimes he misses his children’s events but he’ll make up for it with something fun
He seems like the type to want a lot of kids (enough to have his own little volleyball team lmao)
He’s always telling them to not be like their uncle oikawa
ALWAYS taking pics of the little cuties
Idk what it is abt him but Sato it his only boy, something abt him just makes me think he’d have almost all girls 😂
Invested in a suv so he can drive the kiddos to school
such a fucking dad boss, he goes to all the parent teacher conferences, etc etc.
I’m 1 mil percent sure he makes his kids wearing matching pjs and they love it at first but they hate it when they get older lmao
he’s the strict but nice dad (pretty chill until one of the kids fuck up or if he isn’t a fan of something)
Not only does he get on his kids for eating junk food he nags you about it too
has all his kids stuffies names’ memorized “daddy! Popcorn has a boo boo!”
he’s big on family outdoor trips (you suggested glamping and he told you that’s such an oikawa idea and your fam is gonna do camping the right way)
Hesitant on letting his kids use technology, he didn’t want them to become fully dependent on tech (they aren’t 🫶🏾)
Kageyama Tobio:
“That’s my boy. When you’re setting you don’t want to slap the ball up with your palm, it’s more like slightly tapping it with your fingertips, uhhh does that make since?” Kageyama tries to explain to his twelve year old.
“I think I get it?” Kaito says in a questioning tone. Kageyama scratches his head. “I wonder when your mom will get home with the girls.” Kageyama thinks aloud.
Kaito shrugs and returns to practice setting the ball. He’s done it a few times and Kageyama praises everyone of his sets, even if some of them are really crappy.
“Dad, you don’t need to praise the bad ones. It doesn’t make me feel better. If you praise my trashy work then I’ll settle for being trashy.” Kaito explains to his father. Kageyama puts his hands on his hips, his face turns into a smirk.
“If you want real practice don’t get upset when I criticize every little thing. You know I’m nit picky when it comes to volleyball.” With that he removes his hands from his hips. His steps were even and he asks his son for the ball.
“Mom says you’re bitchy about volleyball. She says it’s gotten better though.” Kaito says, meaning little harm. He knew that would get Kageyama riled up.
“Huh? You’re joking, right?!” Kageyama’s squeezing the volleyball and Kaito is suppressing a laugh.
“Well she says that’s what uncle shoyo says and she agrees with him.” Kageyama mumbles something about you and Hinata. Kaito is sure it’s something along the lines of, ‘I’ll show them a true bitch.’
Kaito gets some good practice in, mainly because his dad is somewhat upset.
You’re finally home with your twin daughters who are two. You find your husband and eldest in the backyard together playing volleyball.
“Kaito, you’ll be as good as your dad one day!” You praise seeing the results of Kageyama’s practice with him.
“What’s this talk about me being bitchy when playing volleyball?” Kageyama confronts and your eyes immediately land on your son.
“Kaito! You cannot keep a secret for the life of you, huh?” You say with a chuckle.
“I get it from you, Mom.” He says seriously.
“Babe, it’s nothin serious. Just a small observation of Shoyo. It’s not supposed to be in a mean way.” You try to coax him. He isn’t having it though.
He starts fussing so you tell Kaito to get his sisters and take them to go play with toys.
As soon as they’re out of sight you walk up to your husband and give him a warm, loving kiss.
“Tobio, you are not taking this to heart right now,” a small chuckle leaves your lips. “As your wife I make comments about you all the time cuz you know as well as I do that I mean it in a loving way. I’m still not over you calling me a swelling balloon when I was pregnant!” You rant, the ending part of your rant earns a snort from your husband.
“You’re my swelling balloon.” For some reason that almost sounded sexy but you aren’t going to let it slide. You give him a playful punch.
“Can you guys quit being saps?” Kaito yells from the door.
“It’s your night to help potty train.” You say with a wink and Kageyama groans.
If he sees his child showing any interest in volleyball he’ll do his best to make his kid a next gen star
he despises that you make the family match for holidays and you send the photos out to family
He lets his kids run around butt naked when they’re little (until you scold him)
he wouldn’t see the problem in letting the twins have ice cream for breakfast
he learned how to do hair so he can braid his little girls’ hair 🥺
he and his son argue abt the dumbest things (got that Kageyama and hinata energy)
Also the competitive dad who wants his kids to be better than everyone else’s kids
he will literally bully any little kid to the point where they cry if they mess w his kids
I don’t think he’d freak out when his daughters start their period he’s just like “okay. I think ur mom has pads somewhere 🧍🏻”
Miya Osamu:
“Pa! Come quick!” 6 and a half year old Haruki yells from the bathroom. When Osamu hears him he comes running up the stairs and into the bathroom.
“The heck ya doing in here? Yer ma’s gonna tear ya a new one!” Osamu examines the mess his son has made with finger paint. “I was trying something, Pa. Then my tooth came out cuz I was wigglin’ it!”
It isn’t until his son says that sentence that he notices there’s a small empty space in his mouth where his little tooth should be. “Huh? This yer first tooth?” Osamu asks.
“Pa, I been talking about this darn tooth for weeks!” His son responds with sass.
“well ‘cuse me for forgettin’ little man.” Osamu says with a roll of his eyes. This boy has got your attitude big time.
“You stay right here, ima go get ya some warm salt water. Don’t ya move.” Osamu warns as he goes to fetch some water for his son.
“So I can’t even breathe?” He asks sarcastically.
“Quit bein’ a lil smart aleck.” Osamu demands with a little bit more strictness in his tone. He’s usually pretty laid back with his son but sometimes Haruki hears the way his Uncle ‘Tsumu talks to his dad and he thinks he can talk that way.
Osamu runs down the stairs to the kitchen and scrambles around for a cup. He finds the salt and sprinkles some in. He puts the cup in the microwave for about a minute and it feels like the longest minute of his life.
“Hurry, Pa! The blood’s gettin’ everywhere!” Haruki yells out of worry.
Osamu retrieves the cup from the microwave and stampedes up the stairs to the bathroom.
“Here, swish it. All of it.” He commands.
“Pa I don’t wanna swish all this salt water it won’t taste good.” He explains to his pa.
“Do ya want the blood to go away or nah?” Osamu asks and Haruki shakes his head yes.
Your mini me began to swish the water as Osamu cleaned up the bathroom.
“Yer lucky I saved ya. Shoulda told yer ma ‘bout the mess you made.” Osamu snorts.
“Do ya think my baby sister will look like you or ma?” Haruki asks instead of thanking his father for cleaning his mess.
“I reckon she’ll get my beautiful eyes that drew yer ma to me n my thick brows.” Osamu says proudly puffing his chest.
“‘s not the only thing ma calls thick.” Haruki mutters which makes Osamu look down to him.
“Whaddya mean?” He asks his eyebrows scrunching up.
“She always talks to Uncle Rin ‘bout how thick ur butt is but she says it with two c’s at the end instead of T-H-I-C-K. What does the one with two c’s mean, Pa?” Haruki asks out of pure curiosity.
Osamu’s face goes red and he covers his face.
“It don’t mean nothin’ at all son. Don’t listen to what yer ma says that’s just her talking crazy.” Your husband explains.
“So when she tells me to go to bed-” Osamu cuts him off.
“I outta pop you for how smart yer acting.” Osamu says firmly.
“Sorry Pa, I’ll stop.” Haruki has a cheeky little smile on his face. He knows Osamu isn’t going to do anything. You handle all the discipline.
Osamu’s phone buzzes loudly in his pocket and he takes it out to answer it.
Osamu’s face goes still and then his eyes about pop out his head. “Slow down honey one word atta time.” Haruki hears you yell over the phone.
“We’re on our way right now.” Osamu says in quickly.
“Let’s go pack yer bag Haruki, yer staying with Uncle ‘Tsumu.” Haruki doesn’t move a muscle but then his dad gives him the look that says ‘do not test me right now’
“Is Ma okay?” Haruki asks his dad slightly worried.
“As okay as you can be goin’ into labor.” Osamu responds. For Haruki’ age he’s an advanced child but he’s picked up on the twins vulgar language and their accent. He knew what it meant when Osamu said you went into labor.
“My sister’s comin’?!” He asks excitedly.
“Mhm, now go pack yer bag. Ya need three shirts, three pairs of pants, some underwear and matching socks. Yer uncle will take ya to school. If I don’t come get you within the next three days just ask yer uncle to wash yer clothes. We’ll most likely see ya tomorrow but yer gonna stay with yer uncle to yer ma’s outta the hospital.”
Osamu explains all at once. “Okay Pa!”
let’s his kiddos get away with a lot more than they should
teaching them to cook was like his favorite thing to do
he lets you handle the punishments because Osamu is a soft dad
Whenever atsumu is over and you aren’t around he’s swearing like a sailor to his brother and his kids pick up on it 😭
100% a cuddler (Haruki acts like he hates it but he doesn’t)
idc what y’all say but he takes his daughter shopping like prom coming up? He’s there when she’s trying on dresses
no phones at the table enforcer (believes in quality family time)
he was relieved to not have twins like his brother did 😂
always teasing Haruki (for example he hates seeing u guys kiss so Osamu purposely kisses u in front of him just to upset him lmao)
the poor man tries his best w homework but geometry doesn’t make any sense “why are there shapes in math ya only really need to know how to add, subtract, multiply, n divide”
something just tells me he has a bird feeder and he enjoys drinking his coffee in the morning (little ones have hot chocolate) and watch the birds come and eat

Can we get Kageyama x Reader Domestic when he's in charge of taking care of his bb girl while Reader is on business trip 🥺🥺🥺💝
HEHEHEHEHE HEY LEXI HEHE i like this one.
note after writing: this is not a crumb. I repeat, this is not a crumb.
The house was in tatters
The sink was almost starting to overflow
in your and his daughter's room, the floor could barely be seen through all the clothes and toys littered all over the place
Kageyama slept peacefully, sprawled out from a mix of exhaustion but also bliss from getting to sleep in on his day off with no practice or games coming up
but it wasn't an entirely free day off
"dada." The little girl with raven hair like her father crawled onto the bed, pulling at the sheets, his legs, his pants, everything her two-year old little body could muster up to pull herself up
she of course gained success
but that was when kags half asleep, half awake, probably not even knowing what was happening, rose from his sleep and instinctively lifted her up and into his arms
She giggled going up all of a sudden and then was laid beside him as he hugged her in his long arms
she laid there for a bit, playing with the hem of his shirt sleeve, his arms before turning and playing with his face, pressing her little hands to his cheeks and his face
this went on for about 2 minutes before kags couldnt sleep anymore plus it was time to start his little girl's day
He yawned and sat himself up, sitting his little girl up too and grabbing the first thing he saw on the bed and handed it to her to keep her occupied while he quickly got himself ready for the day
"play with mama's volleyball plushie, D/N~" he nuzzled the back of his finger knuckle into her small, plump cheeks, a soft smile spreading on his lips just watching her for a moment
She played with it, grabbing the little limbs with her hands in her little crow pattern pajama, even losing balance sitting and rolling to her back with it, her hands still holding onto your plush
He was quick on his feet and now that he was a dad, knowing the mornings were a rush
he wasted no movements and got himself ready within 5 minutes and now it was time for his little girl's
"D/N~" he called as he went back to the bed, seeing his little girl rise to her feet on the bed, wobbly on the squishy surface. "Upsy daisy," he hoisted her up, her hands still holding onto your plush
He took his time, carefully washing her little face, moisturizing it but of course accidentally using a little too much lotion, which he then put onto his own face
Then took her back to her room to choose an outfit for today
Okay kags as a dad
The morning routine you had to teach him to do it in the correct steps and you made sure to watch him before leaving on your trip
Plus his fashion sense wasn't... the best..
the pictures you had been receiving recently had you worried about what others thought when he took her out on errands or just to play 🧎‍♀️ you didn't want people to think that you guys didn't care for your daughter
But today he chose simple black overalls with a red onesie to wear
At least, he learned from hinata, that the overalls should be put on over the sweater
But he was surprisingly good doing her hair
He put them into two little pigtails at her sides
his cooking skills were okay.. not the best but he was getting there with more experience
He occasionally stirred the miso soup while cooking the salmon and luckily
The rice had finished while everything else was just about done too
He took occasional glances to the living room to check on D/N, still seeing her coloring, somehow holding onto your plush still
He placed the dishes down on the kotatsu she was at on the side away from her coloring book and crayons spread out all over the place
He pulled out her little seat and placed it right beside him
he had a small bowl for her and a bigger bowl for himself
He took a bite, testing the temperature in his mouth before he grabbed the little spoon, puttling a little bite of rice onto it and blowing on it
"careful, it's hot," he continued blowing and leaned close as he pushed the bite into her wide open mouth
she chewed carefully and slowly on her food as kags fed her, occasionally taking 2 bites for himself as he fed her the rice and other dishes
After eating, he finally tackled the dishes swiftly and all the toys and put the laundry into the basket, making a note to wash them sometime later instead
Usually his day's were busy and packed, mostly at the long practices for a couple of hours and then back home, spending time with you two but you were away for a few weeks for work
This wasn't the first time but it definitely reminded kags of how hard you worked for work and also for the family
He thought if this wasn't something he could handle while you were away, how could he deserve to be with you?
on these days with no particular plans or anything, all his attention was devoted to his little girl
he sat beside her, drew and colored with her
read her books
which eventually would lead to maybe a short nap time
if she wanted to watch cartoons, the tv would be turned on, but only in moderation
if she wanted to go out, it would be time to get ready for a trip to the park
He took her on walks through the neighborhood
to Hinata's house to play with his kids
to the park
he loved his daughter so much
but he loved the three of you all together the most
it felt like there was a puzzle piece missing while you were away
you two did talk and call as much as possible, but with the time zone differences, it was hard to stay on call with you as long as he would like
"just one more week," he breathed to himself as he walked, his arms holding D/N who looked happily at him at eye-level, pressing her hands to his face again
"one more week until mama comes home," he leaned close, pressing a kiss to her cheek, making her giggle

pregnant reader x setters
cw: pregnancy stuff, vomit
Tumblr media
2 weeks w/ Oikawa
Oikawa holds your hair back as you throw up in the bathroom toilet. As you wipe your mouth with the napkin he had gotten for you he jokes, “so you don’t like the new recipe?”
You pant, “no, I don’t.’’
Later in the day as the two of you are cuddling on the couch you sit up quickly clutching your stomach and Oikawa looks at you concerned.
“Baby, are you okay? Should we go to the doctor?”
“No, no, just period cramps probably.”
He paused, “speaking of when was the last time you had it?”
“What? It was….oh shit.”
***
“Congratulations,” the nurse says nervously, reading the room and seeing how you both didn’t seem to be in a celebratory mood. “I’ll give you a minute.” He excuses himself and then closes the door behind him.
“Parents, huh?” Oikawa says and you can only nod.
“Parents,” you confirm.
“Think we’re ready?”
“Hell no, but…we’ll work it out.”
“Yeah,” he agrees, walking over to the image of your child, “we will be.”
12 weeks w/ Kageyama
“Water?” he asked.
“Check,” you confirm.
“Snack for the car?”
“Check,” you sing, holding up a granola bar.
“Phone?”
“When do I ever forget my phone?” you wager and he clicks his tongue.
“Right, you do have a problem,” he mutters.
“Rude.”
“What’s rude is being late, so let’s get going,” he tells you, lacing your fingers together as he nearly drags you out of the apartment.
Ever since finding out you were pregnant, Kageyama, being Kageyama, has been so particular about everything it nearly causes a headache. The moment you wake up, he’s there with water and morning prenatal vitamins, and breakfast is already ready- in fact, everything you eat is already meal-prepped for you, by him, days in advance. He has notes of your favorite foods in his phone back from when you two were dating and used them to predict your cravings. Everything is taken care of and nothing is unexpected. He is seemingly prepared for anything involving the baby.
When you arrive at the office, you can see a hint of a smile fighting to form on his lips. Today is the 12-week ultrasound- aka-
“D-day,” he says, as he helps you out of the car- not that you needed it.
Today is the day it is confirmed that you two are having a boy. Not to be confused with the day you find out, because Kageyama already knows. He says it’s a ‘dad gut feeling’ something you wouldn’t understand. He’s already ready to fill the nursery with posters of his old volleyball teams for ‘inspiration’ and has his jersey number on a onesie coming in the mail next Tuesday. Kageyama was prepared for anything.
“And it’s a girl,” the nurse says with a smile and you feel your heart skip a beat before you look back at your husband who stared at the sonogram unblinking.
“Really?” you ask for the two of you.
“Yes, congratulations.”
The car ride was silent, dinner was silent, everything for the next 4 hours was silent, and you were sure you broke him. It’s not until your moments before turning out the lights does he finally speak.
“We’re having a girl,” he whispers, voice hoarse from lack of use.
You turn your head and nod, agreeing, “yeah, baby, we’re having a girl.”
He smiles at you, and a single tear falls as he confessed, “I wasn’t prepared for that.”
His smile turns wobbly and you pull him in for a hug as he sniffles against your shirt.
“Can we name her Tobia-”
“Baby that’s not funny.”
“I’m not joking-”
“Oh no, you have to be,” you tell him and he chuckles.
15 weeks w/ Atsumu
You don’t learn how much of a weirdo Atsumu is until you are pregnant. You should have known something was up when he’s giggling when he serves you dinner one night and the moment you take a bite he tells you, “ya  know yer eating our child.”
You nearly spit the food out as you stare at him shocked.
“What the hell?”
“Did I word that wrong? Our baby’s the size of a sesame seed,” he explains then gestures to your food, confused why you stopped eating.
This continues on, for 4 weeks it was sesame, 5 poppy seeds, 6 lentils,  and so on and so on. By fifteen weeks little Miya is an apple and he’s grinning all the way through the beginning of the appointment as she spreads the gel on your stomach, which is now finally starting to show a bump.
“There’s baby,” the sonogram specialist says and Atsumu’s eyes grow wide.
He’s speechless for a moment staring at the sonogram before he whispers, “the little apple has my nose.
“Yeah, I guess he does,” you agree before you confess, “I hope he’s just like you,” but it’s too quiet for him to hear as he can’t bring himself to tear his eyes away from the baby, already the apple of his eye; your little apple.
40 weeks w/ Kenma
“Hey guys,” Kenma greeted his chat as he logged onto his stream.
Comments started flooding in and he squinted trying to read them, finally catching one, he replies, “no Y/N hasn’t given birth yet.”
“Wish I did,” you call out from the couch in the back of his room and even more comments flood in.
Once nearly everyone in the chat is asking questions about you, Kenma sighs, sitting back realizing he’s not going to get to the game and accepts it.
How’s Y/N doing?
whens the due date
congratulations
is the nursery done?
boy or girl???
baby kenma loading!!
“Y/N’s fine, the due date passed, thank you, yes the nursery is done, baby girl,” he answers rapidly.
Then squints again trying to catch a particular question, “I actually wanted to address this. No, you won’t be seeing baby Kenma until she understands what the internet is and can consent to being on it. I also want to keep that portion of my life private.”
how is he already such a good dad
we understand!!
will you teach her how to game off screen
Understandable, still wish we could see her though :/
Kenma leads the last comment and quickly mutes his mic and turns back to you, asking a question the chat can’t hear. After a few minutes, he unmutes and takes the framed photograph of the latest sonogram.
“There’s baby Y/N,” he introduces your daughter to the world before he quickly takes the picture out of frame.
Awww!
so cute
make sure she gets some rest!!
we love you Y/N!!
baby y/n >>>>>>> baby kenma
Kenma lightly confessing, “yeah, yeah, I like Y/N better than me too.”
Tumblr media
hope you like it!

dad!kageyama who brings his cute toddler son with him to practice because you have an important appointment. your baby sets up camp in one corner of the gym with his humongous ipad that he hangs onto with dear life in one grubby lil hand, his other tiny hand preoccupied with his juice box. he’s basically a little chibi version of kags 🥹 he keeps to himself most of the time until he sees kageyama practicing, and then he’s calling out for his attention, going “dada! dada!” and he’s pointing at what’s on his screen: youtube kids is open and playing on it is a highlight reel of TOBIO KAGEYAMA’S MOST LEGENDARY MOMENTS, and his son is like “do this!!!!” so the olympic team helps him out by taking on the role of kags’ opponents and lets tobio recreate those iconic moments, much to the glee of y’all’s baby 🥹🥹

RUDE !
akaashi, atsumu, kageyama, kuroo, ushijima x reader (separately). wrote this while at work so probably a bit messy! not proofread at all.
Tumblr media
akaashi is nervous, like this whole week he’s been thinking about how he wants this day to go, and before showing up he buys a bouquet for your mom and a bottle for your dad, he also has a little keychain for you. so when he knocks he expects you to open, but it’s your dad who opens, looks at him and simply states you’re still getting ready before letting him inside, you go down to them sitting silently, your father looking directly at keiji, and you boyfriend looking anywhere else. you see, it’s not that he doesn’t like him, he just still feels weird about the fact his little girl has a boyfriend.
atsumu is nervous but won’t admit it, at least not to you —he would act all nonchalant and would just talk about it if you ask—, however osamu hasn’t stop listening to him asking how he should act, in the end he makes some shoyu ramen for atsumu to take your home in the condition he will stop talking to him about it. so when atsumu shows up with a casserole and a t-shirt that still has the tag you can’t help but laugh a little, making him more nervous and self-conscious. it ends well, and you mom congratulates the ramen.
kageyama somehow naturally managed to be liked by your dad, like yes, on the first moment they both were skeptical, tobio horridly worried your dad would kick him out or something, but after you leave them for a second to go put the table they’re suddenly the best of friends over some stupid movie saga. tobio hasn’t even actually watched it, he just knows because his grandpa liked it, and now he’s even ignoring you to keep the discussion up with your dad.
kuroo is confident your parents will like him, and he’s right, your mom does tell you he has a weird hairstyle and your dad bonds with him over volleyball, but your little brother, oh, he hates him, when kuroo greets him with a “hey buddy” your brother just shrugs and gets closer to you, even grunting when kuroo kisses your cheek, and when he finally says something to him it’s a “you seem like a bad boyfriend… what was your name again?” just because you let kuroo take the last dumpling. at the end of the night he finally turns to kuroo and says “ok, you can date y/n, but fix your hairstyle”, and kuroo somehow feels relieved.
ushijima seems unfazed, and you think he is until he asks you if you think your parents will like him, you reassure him, and then he asks about your siblings, and you don’t know what to say, because your sister will be alright, but your brother? and of course when he knocks your brother ir the one that opens, looks at him and instantly closes the door, them ushijima can hear a scream of “tooru!” and “ouch!” before you open the door. he spends the whole night giving him the stinky eye, but ushijima is usually too focused on you and your parents to find out. at the end of the night he puts his hand between your and ushijima’s mouth before closing the door once again, and ushijima hears the same scene inside before you open and give him a quick peck.

the boys were always eager to place bets on things unnecessary. who can spike the most balls, who can drink the most milk, who can shove the most meat in their mouth without chewing it. they always bargained a few yens or free food.
it had rubbed on you a few bets later.
in the night before sugawara, daichi, shimizu, and asahi's graduation day, the whole team had decided to have a sleepover inside the gym. the boys set up their futons on the court, while the girls stayed at the stage, futons side by side.
but you were all gathered in the middle, clad in mismatched pyjamas, snacks tossed around, dinner melted in your stomachs. you were guaranteed that this night would hold a special place in your heart– something to look back to when change begins the next day.
"who's most likely to...?" kageyama falls back, head on a pillow beside hinata's thigh, a finger on his chin. "go to jail?"
you and tsukishima point at hinata. yamaguchi points at yachi, and she, including kageyama, sugawara, daichi, and shimizu, point at tanaka. asahi points at noya, as well as narita, kinoshita, and ennoshita.
"this one gets breaking and entering," kei says. "tanaka-san gets harrassment. noya for disorderly conduct."
you laugh and lean your shoulder on his, reaching over his lap for a mochi. you feel his nose tickle the top of your head, but it was one of the few subtle public affections he only gives you that night. kei bites on your dessert, glancing at you as a small way of expressing his gratitude.
"okay," hinata throws another pack of chips on the futon, bouncing lightly. "who's most likely to become a parent in the next 10 years?"
majority seemed to point at daichi and sugawara. they both gasp.
"why us?"
"you parent all of us!"
"we wouldn't have to if you all acted like you were properly disciplined," daichi says, eating a chip from koshi's hand. you missed the way the tips of his ears blushed.
"i think tsukishima here would be a dad first," tanaka teases. he cranes his leg and kicks his shin jovially. "eh? since you're the first one here to get a girlfriend out of all of us."
your cheeks flush, burning when kei gives you a quick glance before shrugging. nonetheless you shrug, placing your hands behind you to lean back. "i think kageyama would be a dad first."
ennoshita snorts. "i caught him talking to a girl the other day."
"he peed himself," hinata quips. "he was asking for his pen back, i'm pretty sure he'd be asking for his dignity back, too."
"fuck off, dumbass."
"i bet a thousand yen on kageyama being the first one to be a dad!" noya slams his fist, rattling the snacks on the futon. tsukishima scoffs, however ignored by the others as they buzz in excitement. "anyone on tsukishima?"
"me and yachi," yamaguchi raises his hand, lifting hitoka's. hinata joins them.
"what about me?" daichi points to himself. "i could be the first one to be a dad. i'm your senior!"
"a thousand yen on daddy daichi!"
"noya, you can't switch your bet!" tanaka yells. "stick to kageyama. i'm going with sawamura-san."
they look at you. "oh, i'm not joining."
"i am," tsukishima says. "i'm on daddy kageyama." he winks.
"please don't lose this bet," hinata pleads to his setter, hands clasped. "i don't want to lose a thousand yen. keep it in your pants."
"shut up, hinata!"
later that night, when everyone had laughed their way to sleep, you and tsukishima silently snuck out the dark gymnasium and into the open night sky, walking towards the football field and laying down in the middle of it, damp grass tickling your backs.
"seriously though, who do you think would be a dad first?" you ask him, craning your neck to the side to look at him. tsukishima was already looking at you, glasses askew, his eyebrows raised just the slighest.
"kageyama wouldn't get a girl pregnant until he's forty." he jests. "me though..."
his tone is playful, the way his shoulders come up to a shrug. you wheeze out and laugh, clutching your chest, even though it made you blush deeply. he only wrinkles his nose at you, but his smile reaches to his eyes. "i doubt, kei. i think daichi would be first."
"why didn't you say it?"
"you being their answer caught me off guard!" you argue, hands in the air. "whaddya think, though? should we let them win this?"
"i'm kinda surprised they think kageyama would be the first to be a dad considering he literally eye fucks a volleyball," he pokes your cheek. "i don't want to let them win though."
you pat his head. "don't knock me up until we're 41, 'kay?"
tsukishima got you pregnant at 27.
and while you were both elated at the sight of two lines at a cheap stick, it was soon dropped at the realization that you (technically he did) had let them won one of the bets.
("keep it inside you until you're forty!"
"i can't fucking do that, smartass.")
you both hoped that they'd long forgotten the 11 year bet, that the minute they stepped through the door, everyone would gasp at the sight of your growing belly and coo at the thought of little blondes running around your home and into their arms.
much to your dismay, it was the first thing they brought up.
"a thousand yen!" hinata exclaims, his hand already out to accept their cash.
they immediately hand out their cash in his palm before scurrying up to awe at your belly, all bent to face it. you place your hands on top, tsukishima splaying his fingers protectively on your hip.
"it's so big!"
"honey, don't say that," shimizu swats tanaka on his head.
yachi takes your hand in both hers, shaking in excitement. "how far long?!"
you smile. "four months."
kageyama, with hinata under his arm, approaches you with a grin so condescending. "i'm going to bully your child to death," he tells kei.
"i'm going to bully you to death, virgin boy."
"i- i am not a virgin!"
the rest of the evening was spent gawping at your belly. you'd only allowed asahi, daichi, hinata, yachi, shimizu, and the godfather yamaguchi to touch your stomach.
(yamaguchi had fainted when kei announced he'd be the godfather).
and while everyone else were occupied at the sport playing on the tv, you rest your back on kei's chest, body between his legs, laced fingers on top of your stomach. it felt like the sleepover back then; and you're too emotionally over the edge that it sends an overwhelming tear on your eyes.
tsukishima cranes his neck to look down at you and wipes your tear, pushing your hair behind you. "why you crying, love?"
"nothing," you sniffle, snuggling deeper into him. though he seemed to have read your mind, and placed a warm kiss on your temple.
"hey," nishinoya stands up, tanned arms stretching. "i bet a thousand yen little tsukishima here is a boy."
you and tsukishima yell at him to stop.
but 8 out of 15 voted for a girl (ennoshita, sugawara, yachi, shimizu, yamaguchi, you, tsukishima)
7 of those voted for a boy and strictly told tsukishima to train him to play volleyball.
those 7 players paid outside the delivery room when tsukishima came out with a babygirl in his hands, telling everyone that she was hoshi, who had his eyes and hair, but had your smile that he loved and adored.

Care too much - Tsukishima x Reader
If you ever dare to ask me about the lore behind this, better be prepared.
Tagging: @lees-chaotic-brain @fuzztacular @melfromwonderland @qardasngan @xangel-8 @lemurzsquad
Tumblr media
“Toss to me Senpai?” Hinata’s voice cuts through the usual after-training chatter like a hot knife through butter. Tsukishima wishes for his headphones, but those are out of reach.
“Your enthusiasm is admirable, Hinata-” Ennoshita starts, clearly trying to help.
“I’d love to,” you say, “but we have to keep the others in mind. Surely everyone else wants to go home.”
Tsukishima does. They are training more than hard enough and he’s still got homework to get to, not to mention the math exam he needs to prepare for. He only realizes that he’s still looking in your direction when you turn your head and catch his eye, sending him one of those calm smiles he’s learned to expect from you.
He turns away, but not fast enough. Yamaguchi sends him a questioning look.
At least his best friend is smart enough not to ask about it when others are present.
.
“How are you keeping up?” You ask, falling into step alongside him. Yamaguchi tenses to his right, but no one else seems to think it weird that you’re talking to them.
You’re friendly to everyone, but Hinata quickly claimed your attention. He was the one who found out you played Volleyball before you moved and even though he lacked the brain, he did not miss the fact that you’re talented.
Ennoshita and the more sensible second-years are never far from you and are most likely the reason you joined their team as assistant Coach instead of the girls.
“Tsukishima?” Your voice cuts through his musings. He flinches and turns, surprised to hear Yamaguchi muffle a snort behind his hand.
“Sorry, I was lost in thought.”
“I’ve noticed. Is the training regimen too much?”
“No,” he sounds a little too defensive, he thinks, but he doesn’t want you to think he’s lacking. “No, it’s just… I was thinking about the upcoming math exam.”
You nod. “I understand. How are you doing in that subject?”
It’s easy to talk to you, Tsukishima realizes. He might not like spending so much time with hotheads like Hinata and Kageyama, but Volleyball Club isn’t all that bad if it means spending time with sensible people like you. And the others, he immediately follows up, as if to defend his thoughts to himself. You’re not the only sensible person on the team.
-
“Here,” you hand him a bottle, “drink this.”
“What is it?” Tsukishima asks, a little annoyed. He doesn’t like admitting it, but he’s thankful for all the tips he’s gotten from Kuroo, even though he still hasn’t figured out why he does it. Is he trying to fool him, teach him something he can exploit later? Whatever the reason, he’s started butting into things that don’t concern him. And if you’re now digging into his small appetite as well, he’s going to-
“It helps,” you explain calmly, “my Dad showed me. I don’t have that much of an appetite but I need, I mean, needed the calories. It’s a little trick. Try it, see if you like it.”
It tastes like strawberries and cream, has the consistency of a milkshake.
“Thanks,” he mutters, a little lost in his feelings.
Your hand is warm on his shoulder, the grip strong. It sends a strange flutter through his body that he likes as much as he despises it.
.
“Do you have a minute?” You ask, meeting him in the darkness. Behind him the warm light of a now deserted Gym, behind you the dimly lit hallways that lead to the bathrooms.
“Sure,” Tsukishima agrees because it’s you. His feet follow your direction as you lead him down the path, away from the bathrooms and the Gyms. You don’t speak for a while and even though he’s tired and sweaty, he can’t argue about the calmness of the moment.
That is, until you turn at the sound of an animal and your hand brushes his, knuckles over knuckles, skin slick with sweat.
It’s only for a second, maybe even less, but he can feel himself moving, grasping for your hand as if to hold it. And isn’t that ridiculous?
“You wanted to talk about something?” Tsukishima says, heart in his throat as he balls his hands to fists, fighting against something in him he cannot begin to explain, to understand.
“Yes.” You nod, look at the ground first, then up at him. “I wanted to ask what you think of yourself.”
His tongue feels too large for his mouth. Do you know what he’s been thinking about lately?
“I know Yamaguchi already talked to you, he told me bits and pieces of it. I wanted to talk to you too, but I…” you laugh abruptly, “well, it seems he was faster. Tsukishima, do you think you’re less than… than the others?”
“Never,” his mouth says when his heart screams Of course!
You smile in a way that tells him that you’ve already seen through him.
“This is a training camp,” you tell him and he can’t help but admire how you brush against the topic with such a gentle hand, “I won’t take too much of your attention. I’m gonna give you my number, okay, and we can talk about this some more when we’re home and have a bit of free time to our hands.”
He laughs. The idea of free time has long turned unfamiliar.
“Poor Tsukishima,” you smile with a smile that has his heart bubbling, “it seems I’m going to have to help you.”
-
“Tsukishima-Senpai?” One of the new first-years asks and it’s so weird, isn’t it, to be in the middle like that. Still looking up to the Third-Years, but well aware of the example you’re supposed to be giving.
“Yes?”
“I was told- uh, I was told to take this form to the Coach, but I can’t find them anywhere and I don’t know- uh, Hinata-Senpai said I should ask you or, or the Captain, but I’m-”
“Look,” he grabs the boy’s shoulder and turns him a little until he can see you, sitting next to Takeda-Sensei, smiling a little at Nishinoya’s and Tanaka’s antics, “You can go and ask our assistant Coach.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m one hundred percent positive that she’s not going to bite off your head if you ask her something. I might, however.”
Yamaguchi sidles up to him the moment the younger boy runs off, grinning in a way that tells Tsukishima he heard every word.
“Hush,” he tells his best friend, “you heard nothing.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell on you. It’s weird to have our Third-Years missing, isn’t it? I miss Suga’s gentle hand.”
Tsukishima sighs. Yes. Ennoshita’s a good Captain, but he’s still a little unsure of himself. His eyes find you without meaning too, catch the smile you share with the shy First-Year.
“We still have a gentle hand. If we do our best we might even be able to show it ourselves next year.”
Yamaguchi laughs, clearly surprised. But he’s still his best friend, dropping the topic when it becomes clear he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.
.
“Is that seat taken?” You ask, voice barely audible. He takes his backpack off the chair and watches you slide in, the mountain of books in your arms a clear sign of the upcoming exams.
Tsukishima doesn’t want you to leave. Not this school, not this team. Not- no, he’s not going to go there.
You catch him looking, send him the calm smile he’s grown fond of, maybe even addicted.
There’s the sound of paper ripping and a little folded up note lands in his lap.
His hands shake a little when he opens it up, your handwriting is neat, the ink not yet dried, smudging as he smoothes the paper.
Can we go for a drink later? I need to tell you something.
His heart thumbs uncomfortably in his throat when he looks up, your smile is bittersweet.
Whatever his heart is wishing for, his head already knows that it won’t be the topic you’ve chosen today.
And he’s right.
You’re not confessing to him, nor are you addressing his own, deep seated, carefully hidden feelings for you.
The truth is worse and better at the same time.
You’re leaving, right after graduation.
And though you promise to keep in contact, a part of him sighs in relief.
Maybe, through distance, his heart will let go of this ridiculous idea.
After all, there are not many people he admires in this world, but he’s not dumb enough to think he could be a match for one of them.
-
His throat is dry, his nose clogged and he can barely see but his blaring phone does not care about that at all.
It takes him a moment to find it amongst the used tissues, one more to figure out how to pick up the call.
“I’m not sick,” he grunts into the little device, expecting yet another one of Yamaguchi’s worried Check-Ins.
“You do sound like it though,” your voice answers and the shiver it sends all over his body is most definitely not from the fever he’s been fighting.
“W-well, I’m not,” he stutters, looking for his glasses. He feels vulnerable without them, even more so with you on the phone.
How long has it been that he’s heard your voice?
“Well, if you’re not sick, how come that Yamaguchi asked me to check in on you?”
“He did? He’s worried for nothing, that’s all.”
“Mhm,” the little sound you make in the back of your throat does weird things to his stomach, “So you did not not pick up the phone yesterday after he brought you home with a high fever the day before that?”
“What are you, our mother?” He asks, words slipping from his raw throat. He regrets them the moment he hears them, even more when your answer is silence.
“Do you see me as a mother figure?” You ask and there’s a new feeling in his stomach, one that’s asking him to find the nearest bathroom before he’s starting to heave.
“No, I-” Tsukishima doesn’t know how to explain himself, or what to say without giving himself away. So he says nothing and neither do you.
Eventually though, he has to make a sound, mainly because he can’t keep from coughing for more than a few minutes.
“Tsukishima,” you ask, voice grown up and small at the same time, “tell me, how are you? We haven’t spoken in a while.”
If your conversation only grazes the surface of what he wants to talk about it’s his fault and his fault alone.
.
“I really like you,” the girl tells him, a little box of chocolates in her hands. “Will you be my boyfriend?”
She’s brave, to ask like this. Just this morning another girl from his class confessed to him. He’s forgotten her name on purpose but he’s not blind to how well-liked she was among her peers.
This girl, however, isn’t. She’s too tall for a girl, some say, too shy to be class president, too lanky to be good in sports. But she’s got a calm smile that reminds him of you and maybe that’s the reason he accepts, with a guilty heart and a knot in his stomach.
Maybe all he needs is someone else to fall in love with.
He knows it’s stupid, but he’s never been smart when it came to his heart.
-
“It’s a clean break.”
“It will heal fast, no lasting damages.”
“At least now you’ll have time to focus on your schoolwork. College is no joke.”
“Do you need my help, Tsukki? I can take a few days off work until you’re settled.”
He doesn’t want help. He might need it, but he doesn’t want it.
He doesn’t want company either, because none of them know what to do with him.
He’s miserable company on his best days but breaking his finger will leave even someone as cheerful as Hinata in a slump.
But, he thinks bitterly, things like that don’t happen to Hinata. Or Kageyama.
No, those things happen to him, right when he’s finally got a starter position in his College team. Right when he feels almost comfortable in his life.
So it’s not unreasonable for him not to want to talk to people.
If only the people would realize that and leave him alone.
.
First, it was the doorbell. Then came the knocking. Now someone’s calling his name.
“I’m coming!” Tsukishima’s not expecting anyone but if he had to guess, he’d say his brother made his way over. Akiteru has yet to learn when to keep away.
He fumbles with the keys, his cast as usual in the way.
The door opens wide and he stills, too aware of you to be aware of himself.
You look gorgeous. Your hair’s a mess, your eyes red and overshadowed by exhaustion, your shirt looks like you slept in it. His hand reaches out, faster than his brain can keep up, tapping your shoulder to make sure you’re real.
“Yes, it’s me,” you tell him, half a grin on your face, “let me in?”
Tsukishima steps aside, only now realizing he’s wearing boxer shorts and socks and nothing more. Heat crawls up his throat and he thunders down the hallway and into his bedroom to get dressed the best he can.
“What are you doing here?” He asks, anger lacing his voice to hide his shame. “Last time we talked you were-”
“Halfway back to Japan,” you interrupt him from the doorway. “It’s not official yet, but I’m starting as Assistant Coach for the Sendai Frogs next month. It’s just a Division 2 team, but it’s a start.”
He stills, not just because his arm is stuck in his shirt.
“You’re moving back to Japan?”
“Well, I was planning to,” you joke, “kinda hard to Coach a Japanese Team when you’re living in Argentina. Can I help you with that?”
“I’m fine,” he argues.
“That you are.” There’s a teasing lilt to your words that has his ears burning.
He’s twenty years old, not fifteen.
“When did you arrive?” He’s trying his best but his arm is stuck. You’re halfway through the room before he can speak up, hands warm as you help him out of his misery.
“Half an hour ago.”
You’re too close, but too far away. This is not- Can he still blame it on the painkillers if he took the last one this morning? He opens his mouth to ask you when he realizes that you’re the last person he should ask about this. But-
“Tsukishima?” You ask, voice soft, smile calm like he’s grown to love. “You’re in your head again.”
“Yeah, sure,” he nods, “How did you know?”
“You mumble your thoughts when you’re like that,” you point out and he might have caught it, the meaning those words carry, if your hand hadn’t reached up to cradle his cheek.
His eyes close for a brief second. In that darkness, there’s just your touch, the warmth of your hand.
His eyes flicker open again. You’re closer now and though he shouldn’t his eyes flicker to your lips, dry and chapped from a long flight.
“Do you love me, Tsukishima?” You ask. He leans in to kiss you. He’ll just blame it on the painkillers later.
.
“You had a crush on me,” Tsukishima points out, half dumbfounded, half giddy about the revelation.
“We just became a couple,” you point out, drawing your finger through the air to literally point at the way you’re sitting, your legs over his, ankles crossed, your face smushed against his shoulder. Your jetlag and his exhaustion do not mix well. Or maybe they mix perfectly, who knows at this point?
“Still,” he lets the truth linger on his tongue. It tastes delicious, like victory.
“But I think you were crushing on me first.”
“Well, we could fight about that,” he says with the air of someone who’s already won.
You snicker. “I am sure we will. But, Kei-” You stop when he shivers, the sound of his first name on your tongue still a little too indecent for this early hour. “I wanna talk some more about this. I had this big speech planned and-”
He leans in, presses his lips against yours. Once, twice, some more because he can, because he’s allowed to, one more just because.
“I think we should sleep first, talk later,” he can feel you smile, lips against lips, nose bumping his, “we’ve got all the time to talk about it in the morning.”
“Look at you, trying to be reasonable,” you coo, “You’ve grown so fast.”
-
“I still can’t believe it,” Hinata says, clearly a little miffed that his favorite Senpai picked Tsukishima over him. “He’s so mean all the time. Are you being held captive?”
You laugh easily. “No, but better make sure Kei’s here on his own free will. He might be the one being blackmailed.”
“Well, I can see it,” Sugawara declares friendly, “Tsukishima and you always got along. Two pees in a pod, really.” He winks.
“Doesn’t matter anyway,” Tsukishima declares with the air of someone who could care less. Your hand squeezes his and he knows he’s been found out. You know he cares. A little too much most of the time.

Strawberry Blond
hinata shouyou x reader words; 2155 synopsis; he's got a crush on that older girl at school- she has to go on a roadtrip with his family. what will a few hours in a car do for them?
The car pushed forward along the road. She looked out of her window to stare at all the passing scenery, eyeing the mountains and eyes gazing at the clouds floating above. The fields of flowers painted a picture of heartache and blushing faces. Willow trees with their branches holding the long tiers of leaves cascading down like waterfalls.
With all the beauty to admire and things to explore using his imagination, Hinata Shouyou was only looking at her.
The Hinata family planned to visit some relatives farther out in the country. She was only there because her father, a business associate of Hinata's dad, needed someone to take her somewhere close to the relatives they had already planned to visit. Naturally, bringing her along for the seven-hour drive seemed like the most effective method of transport.
But for Hinata, the drive became more about the fact that he would be stuck in a cramped space with his crush for a long time instead of visiting cousins.
The reason for his crush? He doesn’t know.
(keep my eyes on the road)
There wasn’t much that interested Hinata outside of volleyball, but the things that did interest him included gaming with Kenma, trying to be better than Kageyama at everything, spending time with his family, and getting to know the ever-elusive girl better. Hinata knew her from school, mainly because she often hung around Asahi.
When Hinata asked if the two were dating, Asahi and her immediately put his assumption to rest.
As it turned out, she was helping Asahi to improve his interpersonal skills, seeing as she was a member of the student council and her job was student satisfaction. Asahi had come to her asking for ways to seem more approachable, thus meaning she was spending time with him, and not in fact that they were dating.
This was a deal of relief to Hinata. But even after Asahi had improved his people skills, she still stuck around.
Hinata still remembers the first one-on-one conversation he had with her vividly. He had caught her packing up her bag from her last session with Asahi, she had moved her schedule around so that they could talk in the gym before volleyball practice.
“Hello! I’m Hinata, Asahi’s protege of sorts. Nice to meet you, L/N. ” Hinata gave a quick bow before standing straight up again.
“Same to you Hinata-kun.”
“I’m not that much younger than you,” Hinata muttered. There was only a year difference between them, seeing as she was a second year, and Hinata a first year.
“Oh, do you not want me to use –kun then?” She furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head.
He froze up for a minute. Before blurting out a response. “Call me Shoyou. It's my first name.” She smiled and laughed a bit before politely covering her mouth.
“If I plan on calling you Shoyou, then you can call me by my first name too?” She stretched out her hand and Hinata shook it with both of his. Feeling a short jolt move from his hands up to his ears which were slowly beginning to tinge red.
A girl called out to her from the gym entrance, and she nodded. “Well, Shoyou, I got to go, but we can talk later?”
Hinata shook his head up and down so rapidly that Kageyema yelled at him, “Idiot! You’re going to shake all your brain cells out!”
Hinata let out a deep sigh before putting a hand to his heart and letting his eyes glaze over slightly from his daydreams of all the possible conversations he would have with her.
(reach out the car window trying to hold the wind)
“L/N, would you like it if we rolled down the windows? Shoyou radiates so much warmth that it gets hot in the car.” Mrs. Hinata laughed slightly while turning around to face the three children sitting in the back of the car from the passenger's seat.
Hinata exclaimed, holding his hands out to emphasize his embarrassment.
“That’s fine with me.”
Natsu looked from her brother to the girl on the other side of her. She put two and two together and planned something out. Hinata wasn’t exactly discreet when it came to stealing glances in the girl’s direction.
“Mom! I wanna sit in the window seat now!” Natsu complained.
Deceptively, Natsu began to calculate. Hinata started to bounce his knee in his seat, his arm resting on the car door, supporting his head.
“Okay, can you guys move around without us having to pull over then?” Natsu nods before unbuckling both her and the second-year’s seatbelts. “Natsu, I didn’t mean you and L/N switch, you should switch with Sho.” His mom commented.
“Oh, honestly, it isn’t a problem for me to sit in the middle ma’am.” She put up a hand and slid over to the middle seat. But since it was a tight squeeze Hinata and her ended up having their sides pressed up close together, their thighs and the length of their sides completely touching.
“Is this okay Shoyou?” She asked as she pulled her seatbelt across her body.
Natsu sat happily looking out the window and moving her hand up and down trying to mimic a superhero with her hand’s movements.
“It’s great.” He swallowed thickly, quickly turning his head to look out the window.
Eventually, Hinata’s mom rolled down the windows with the touch of a button and Hinata felt cold air nipping at his nose. Sticking his head out the window, the air wiggled its way through Hinata’s locks. When he pulled his head back into the car his hair was sticking out in all directions.
She just couldn’t resist and ran a hand through his hair, before stopping and retracting her hand back.
“I'm sorry.” She squeaked.
Hinata didn’t have many words to say since he was still paralyzed from the feeling of her warm hand against his chilly scalp. So, he just took her hand and put it on top of his head again.
“I liked it. You can keep doing that if you want.” She started running her hand through his hair again. The hair curled around her hand and tickled in between her fingers. Hinata felt a soft hum begin to bubble in his throat. His satisfaction made her giggle slightly at his reaction.
The seven hours spent in that car ride weren’t as bad as Hinata had predicted.
(i love it when you look my way)
Two hours had passed, and Natsu was asleep.
“I think it’s time for a pit stop.” Hinata’s dad brought the car to the side of the long winding road.
Hinata’s parents sipped some tea from a shared thermos, his mom rubbing his dad’s back.
Hinata was searching through the trunk, pushing suitcases to the side. He finally found what he was looking for.
He tossed the volleyball lightly in her direction. She was kicking up dirt and drinking water from her sticker-covered bottle. It fell and rolled around until it bumped into her foot.
“Want to play?” He jogged over to her.
“I didn’t join a sports club, I joined an academic club for a reason.” But, she set her bottle down next to the car and picked up the volleyball.
“I can teach you. When I first started playing, I had to beg people to join in. My third year middle school club included a soccer player, a basketball player, me, and some first years.”
She frowns, “I’m sorry, that sounds like a tough situation.”
After going through some basics, they could hold a decent rally. After she failed to receive it once again, she groaned in frustration. Without thinking, Hinata moved behind her, holding her arms up, and guiding them to a proper receive position. He still hadn’t mastered receiving yet, but he could manage for the most part.
“Like this.”
She smelt like strawberry and vanilla. And he was close enough to feel the way her skin pricked up.
She shuffled away, and tossed the ball back to him, cutting the moment off too quickly for Hinata’s liking. Her heart was beating too fast for her liking.
Six hours into the car ride, the sun slowly setting over the hill. Hinata’s mom swapped with his dad, and she decided to drive the rest of the duration to the destination. Natsu was snoring peacefully, with her chair leaned back. She was drooling on the nice leather of the car.
Hinata’s dad was also asleep, matching Natsu’s snoring and drooling. His mom had earbuds in, listening to her serial killer podcast, humming happily.
“So, student government. What’s that like?” Hinata wanted to know everything about her.
“Well, my experience, or the general experience.”
He could care less about any of the other kids in student government.
“Yours.”
“It’s not what I expected, that’s for sure. Instead of solving issues at the school, it feels more like an elite societal clique. Helping Asahi was the only impactful thing I’ve accomplished this year. These kids in student government, they’re just so disconnected from reality. You know Ito Yuuta, yeah? He’s going to essentially inherit half the buildings in Miyagi, there’s no reason for him to be in student government, he even says there’s no reason for student government.”
She pauses, then continues with her deeper musing.
“It’s a sad thing when you go into something with high expectations, and then there’s no reason to be invested in it.”
“But you still work hard?”
“Why wouldn’t I? Just because others show apathy for an organization doesn’t mean I have to. I can’t do it all, but I can do enough. Scrambling to be involved in our school has been the biggest challenge, but I love people. Genuinely, people can be so amazing. I just want to foster community at Karasuno.”
Hinata thinks back on his own experiences. He knows the apathetic approach others give, and how it disheartens even the most motivated. But what else can a person do besides keep working?
“I’m embarrassed.” He admits. “I want to kiss you right now.”
She chuckles, “You’ll need to wait a few years before I consider that. Nothing against you, of course.”
“No, no, I understand. You’ll wait for me though? Right?”
“Wait for you?”
“Just at least give me a chance in the future. I can grow a few more centimeters, I promise.”
Nodding her head, she wraps her pinkie finger around his. Moving their connected hands up and down three times exactly.
“I promise to give you a chance in exactly three years.”
He could wait.
(keep my eyes on the road as i ache)
The rest of Hinata’s first year wasn’t bad. Karasuno’s Boy’s volleyball team made it to the Nationals. She came to watch the games, making the rest of the student government put up posters to celebrate their accomplishments.
The second year was rougher than the first. She transferred to a school in Tokyo. He went to her going away party. He couldn’t attend her graduation, but he wrote a lengthy note to her. Tsukishima did not enjoy proofreading everything Hinata had written.
He wrote about his dreams, his goals, and how he thought about her more often than not. The note was littered with spelling errors, that Tsukishima had to fix, but by the fifth draft it was the perfect love letter.
His third year was the best year by far, only after it had officially ended. With his graduation scroll in hand, he waited at the centralmost Miyagi shrine. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, he fluffed his hair, patted it back down, and then recycled the motions.
She had changed. In all the right ways.
“Me first.” He showed her his diploma, she appraised it.
“Definitely real.”
He shoved his driver’s license into her hand as well.
“Legally eighteen years old now.” She evaluated the ID card.
“Also definitely real.”
They sat on a bench, and Hinata told her about Brazil. She told him about Korea.
“An international cooperation organization? You’re lying.”
“I would never.”
He knew she would never lie about something like that. Something where she would most definitely have an actual impact, an actual community-building opportunity.
He slid his hand into hers, using his thumb to rub the back of her hand. He brought it up to his lips, and he kissed her knuckles. She just smiled in response.
The thing she did next almost made him faint. She turned her body and faced him. He was leaning slightly forward, so she had to duck a little, but she aimed right on target. Giving him a short but genuine kiss.
(look at you strawberry blond)
It was the summer of 2021 when they met again.
He was twenty-five. She was twenty-six and a half.
Right before the Olympics, she agreed to one more road trip with him.
She ended up going on many more.

hi!! how are you? i hope you are having a lovely day and staying hydrated.
i just would like to request a tobio x fem!reader where reader is the younger sister of oikawa and because of the "bad blood" between the two, she gets tired and lectures them about how they should stop their petty fight and, at least, be civilized with each other. (though oikawa is mainly the petty one 😂)
it's a bit messy, so it's okay if you don't decide it or completely change the plot.
btw, i absolutely love your fics!!! and i definitely am a fan of yours!!!

The Karasuno Boys volleyball team were excited to be invited to the Karasuno’s Girls volleyball tournament. The tournament was called ‘Spring Days’, it was showcasing the popular teams of Japan and they couldn't wait to see all the cute girls there.
Then they were all smacked in the face when Kageyama offhandedly said that he wouldn’t be there to support the Karasuno girls.
“What do you mean you’re not going to support them! They always support us!” Hinata shouted at his grumpy teammate. The orange haired male was currently shaking the life out of Kageyama.
Then Kageyama scowled and began wrestling Hinata as he said, “Because I would be betraying someone important to me. She plays for Shiratorizawa.”
“Eh?” Hinata stopped shaking Kageyama and just stared at him blankly while being held in a chokehold by said male. Then he whispered so the rest of the boys practicing wouldn’t hear them, “Someone important? Like a girlfriend?”
“Is that a problem?” Kageyama casually asked, pushing Hinata away. He picked up his drink and started gulping down the water in his plastic bottle. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and shrugged his shoulders, “It’s a good thing I get a free ride there, but don’t expect me to cheer for our school.”
“We are there to support our team, Kageyama,” Sawamura crossed his arms over his chest and glared down at the young teen with his dad stare, “And if I don’t hear you cheer for them, you will not set for two games- no three games.”
Kageyama deflated and looked off to the side in thought. You would understand the punishment he was getting and would want him to do what’s best for him. But your attitude was going to be different during the game. “Fine, but if our school faces Shiratorizawa, you’re gonna wish I cheered for her instead.”
The boys watched as the volleyball nerd went over to the net getting ready to practice some sets. They had no idea what he meant by that and left to join him for practice.
…..
Saturday came quicker than the boys anticipated, nonetheless they sported the Karasuno jackets and walked into the large stadium with giant smiles on their faces. They all loved the feeling they got walking up to the court, so sometimes it was weird for them to be watching and being the supporting students.
Kageyama was glued to his phone, messaging his girlfriend non-stop. Hinata would definitely peek over Kageyama’s shoulder, but he would always be pushed away with a hand in front of his face. The boys were seated in the first row and had an amazing view of the court.
Kageyama was doing perfectly fine until he heard his rival speaking from afar. “Ah, the poor little trashy crows have to play against my amazing little sister. I can only imagine how giant the point difference is going to be.”
Kageyama looked to his left to see two empty seats. That was until that annoying voice still praising his sister got closer. His dark blue eyes looked up to see brown ones glaring at him. Then another male popped up from behind the curly brown haired person.
“Ah, Kageyama, you’re here to support [Name] as well?” Iwaizumi asked, walking in front of Oikawa and greeting the stumped black haired male.
Kageyama bowed his head then said, “No, I’m not allowed to cheer for her or else I won’t be a setter for three games.”
Iwaizumi sat down next to him and chuckled, “I get it and I’m sure she would as well. Did you tell her?” The older teen got comfortable and looked at his old teammate.
“I’m afraid she’s going to give the Karasuno girls a hard time if I did,” Kageyama admitted with his eyes directed hard at the ground.
A loud laugh caught their attention and Oikawa leaned back into his seat with a smug smile on his face. “[Name] is so going to crush your trashy team solo! If I were you, I would tell your other halves to forfeit now.”
Iwaizumi elbowed Oikawa’s rib cage causing the male to lurch forward with a holler. Before Kageyama could agree with his rival, his loud teammates came into the picture with heated glares, “What makes your snotty sister so special, huh?” Tanaka shouted while Nishinoya stood behind him with a fist in the air, “Ten bucks, our team does the crushing instead!”
“Deal!” Oikawa shouted back with one hand holding his side while Iwaizumi shook his head from the lack of awareness these idiots had. The usually grumpy male leaned over to Kageyama and whispered, “You do know that your team is going to make trashykawa super rich after this game?”
Kageyama crossed his arms over his chest and grumbled back, “I tried to warn them.”
“Welcome all to the Spring Days tournament where talented ladies from all over Japan showcase their volleyball skills.”
The female announcer excitedly proclaimed in her microphone. The males couldn’t focus on what she was saying because a new group arrived behind them and this group wasn’t going to go unnoticed.
“Oh my, is that Oikawa Tooru? The big brother of our baby eagle, [Name]?”
Kageyama peeked a glance at his rival and saw the instant disgust on the male’s face which caused a bit of happiness to appear on his own face. Kageyama thought this was a perfect karma moment for the smug male.
“You do well to address my little sister by her last name. Just because she trains with that guy, doesn’t mean you cannot show her or myself some respect!” Oikawa pointed at a very tall third year student.
Ushijima looked down at Oikawa with his eyes and stated, “Your sister likes the nickname the team gave her and she has all our respect because of her skills. At least she took my advice to join the girls team at Shiratorizawa unlike you. She’s being nurtured if that’s what you care about.”
“Don’t word it like that, it makes you sound like a pervert! Also that’s because I don’t want to be your teammate! You’re the one that brainwashed my poor sister! I should have persuaded her to spend her time elsewhere!”
“What, like Karasuno?” Tendou snidely said with a snicker.
Kageyama could feel the tension from his captain and vice captain as Daichi spoke up with a fake smile on his face. The third year Karasuno male turned around and asked Tendou with that cheap smile, “Something wrong with Karasuno?”
Tendou hummed and shrugged his shoulders, “Ehh~ You don’t really see people with skill choose Karasuno unless they’re rejects,” He looked at the back of Kageyama’s head, “Or useless dreamers.” He stared at the rest owlishly.
“That’s enough out of your mouth,” Semi joined in and told everyone to focus on the game which is about to start. Everyone had their feathers ruffled up in some way and it was because of their snide remarks to one another.
“For our first game, we have Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa! Please welcome them to the court!”
Kageyama pulled out his backpack from under his chair and everyone looked at him suspiciously. He didn’t pay attention to their questioning glares as his eyes were on a girl who looked around the arena for him. Of course, your knees were not covered by your usual white and purple knee pads.
It only took another minute for you to find him and you ran over to the stands with a giant grin on your face.
“Tobio, thank you so much for bringing them! I forgot I left them at your place!” You huffed out and sat down in front of his backpack digging in it without any permission. You found your knee pads and took them out with a sigh of relief. “You just saved me from running ten laps back home.”
“It’s no problem at all,” Kageyama responded with a gentle smile on his face as he admired your look. The rest of his teammates were baffled by the look of his face and how pretty you were. You seemed kind, way kinder than your older brother.
You slipped your knee pads over your shoes and comfortably on your knees. You looked up at Tobio and blushed at the soft look he was giving you, but you could tell he wanted to tell you something. “Is something wrong, Tobio?”
“Yes!” Your brother shouted standing up from the bleachers, “He’s not going to cheer for you! But don’t worry, you have me!”
“And us!” Tendou shouted from a row behind. You laughed and pushed yourself up from the floor. You weren’t going to tell them that you didn’t notice them because of your attention to your boyfriend.
“Is there a reason why you’re not going to cheer for me, Tobio?” You asked with a pout on your face and he stood up immediately to comfort you. You loved this about him, he was pretty shy, but he made sure to keep you happy.
He looked at his team then to you and explained, “They didn’t believe me when I said that my girlfriend plays for Shiratorizawa and said that if I didn’t cheer for the Karasuno girls then I wouldn’t set for three games.”
You laughed and gave Kageyama a quick hug pushing him gently back onto his seat, “Eh, don’t worry Tobio. I was just teasing you. I know I will always have your support! Anyways, what’s the bet?”
“You know about the bet?” Hinata questioned bewildered by your psychic abilities and you scoffed with a smirk on your face as you gestured over to your older brother, “Please, if my brother doesn’t force someone to bet on my skills then he’s not my Tooru.”
“We bet ten dollars,” Oikawa said and leaned back while Iwaizumi shook his head in exaggeration.
Then you rolled your eyes and fixed your knee pads a bit while saying, “I would have gone higher, older brother. But that’s okay, I hope to see you all in the finals.” You winked at Kageyama and shouted over your shoulder as you walked away, “I better not hear the both of you talking smack to one another. It throws me off my game!”
Oikawa sat back in his spot and glared at Kageyama, “Why were her knee pads at your place?”
Kageyama shrugged his shoulders and zipped up his bag. The words from you not even seconds ago being forgotten because of a cruel idea in his head. He was tired of Oikawa and this was for sure going to get him riled up.
Kageyama turned his head and smirked at Oikawa, “Maybe because she spends most of her time on her knees.”
“I dare you to say that again!” Oikawa shouted while being held back by Iwaizumi who had to hide his blush from his former teammate. He wasn't expecting Kageyama to be that bold!
“I meant what I said!” You shouted, giving a glare at your rambunctious brother.
..........
Thank you for your support and I hope this was a fun read for you because I had fun writing it!!

if i lay here (would you lie with me and just forget the world?)
wolf!kageyama tobio x doe!reader Summary: Predators mated with predators. Prey mated with pray. Your parents were an exception to the rule. There's absolutely no way Kageyama Tobio would be interested in his prey childhood best friend. Tags: Childhood friends; friends to lovers; mutual pining; predator!Kageyama; Prey!reader; Timeskip; Insecurity; Prejudice (Implied predators being considered superior then preys); low self-esteem to reader; A/N: I hope Kageyama is not too occ. I'm not an english speaker, so If there's anything wrong, feel free to tell me. Last time I wrote something was, i don't know, 9 years ago?
When you were little, the world used to be simple for you. Surrounded by family and friends who were alike, there was no fear or uncertainty. It all came crashing down when your father told you that you all had to move to Miyagi because of his work.
It was easy for him; your father was a fox after all. Even though he wasn't as big as other predators, he was still a predator all the same. You took after your mother's family: a doe.
You didn't remember ever being afraid of your father, but your mother had told you that, when you were very little, you used to get scared when he spoke louder than usual or when he appeared without making a sound. But apparently, you loved him and ran to him when you felt threatened, which was unnatural for your species: he was a predator and you were a prey. However, he was your father, and his affection for you made you trust him and erased the fear from your body.
Your mother sometimes told stories of how your father moved to Yamagata at a young age and how him and his family shook the structures of the city. They lived in a place inhabited by prey of all kinds, and his father's family were the first predators to move there. Your mother always laughed when she said that she felt sorry for your dad, who was isolated at school and sad that people always shied away from him when he approached them. Until she felt sorry for him, swallowed her fear, and became friends with the fox that would later become her life partner.
When you were 10, you had to experience a fear similar to the one your father experienced at the time, but different all the same. You had to move to Miyagi, your father's hometown, where predator and prey lived together in a way you couldn't understand.
You were a prey who never had contact with predators other than your dad. Predators with intimidating auras and smells who could easily hurt you.
Grandpa Kazuyo was an angel in the form of a predator in your new life in Miyagi.
He was kind and affectionate, a friend of your father's late parents. He had a lot of patience trying to charm you and prove that he wouldn't hurt you. You soon discovered he was a wolf. Grandpa spoke softly and smiled a lot. He also introduced you to volleyball, but you soon discovered that, as much as you found it interesting, you didn't like the idea of mixing with other people - usually predators - to play a competitive sport. But you enjoyed watching him and the women's team he coached play.
Just when you'd gotten used to him for good, Grandpa brought Kageyama Tobio into your life.
Kageyama Tobio was taller than you and more athletic. He had dark hair and extremely piercing eyes. He was also a wolf and his eyebrows made a strange movement when they landed on you.
Honestly, he scared the shit out of you. Your instincts made you freeze and your mind began to think of various ways you could escape. He also seemed to react to you, his head turned slightly sideways and his smell got a little stronger. He was going to attack if you ran.
"Well, well, let's calm down, shall we?" granpa said with a playful voice.
Kageyama Tobio reacted immediately to his grandfather's voice. His posture became relaxed. His smell also began to become less strong. However, your instincts remained alert and your eyes darted between staring at the older wolf and the younger one.
Grandpa made a slight movement, putting his hand on the boy's head and lightly ruffling his dark hair. "She didn't want to fight you, she's just not used to predators and you scared her, little Tobio."
The boy turned back to face you, "I wasn't going to hurt you."
You stared back at him, trying to calm your heart and relax your muscles. He was Kazuyo's grandson, he won't hurt you. Kazuyo wouldn't let him do it.
"You have big eyes," the little wolf said. "Grandpa says you like volleyball. Do you want to play?"
You didn't say your eyes were the way they were because you were a doe. He didn't say he acted that way because he was a wolf. You just shook your head and took a hesitant step towards him. Kazuyo gave an encouraging smile.
Thus began a strange friendship between Kageyama Tobio, a wolf, and you, a doe.
“They’re doing it again,” the 15 years old you said while tossing the ball to Tobio. You were both just throwing the ball to each other while waiting for your parents to finish the conversation with your teacher.
“I don’t understand it,” Tobio’s sounded grumpy. “What difference does it make that I’m a wolf and you are a doe?”
Unfortunately, you knew why they were doing it. Tobio was known to be a promising setter, a future strong predator and the school felt like his friendship with you might get in the way. That’s the world you both lived in. It was acceptable to the both of you to live together and in harmony, but it’s not expected to prey and predator to bond beyond acknowledge each other respectfully.
“Maybe it was the recent protests? Some people have been protesting on school gates about allowing prey and predators in the same classroom. It was also reported in the newspaper that the number of mixed couples had increased. They might think it’s because of it.”
“That’s stupid. No one cares about that,” Tobio made a small growling sound in protest.
“The world was made for your kind and they don’t want it to change,” you weren’t particularly sad about it. You’ve always known. That’s the reason why most prey stay in prey only communities. “Don’t worry about it. They are just scared I might get in the way of your bright future.”
Kageyama Tobio grabbed the ball with both his hands and stared at you. It was one of those stares you didn’t understand. Piercing, but not aggressive or judgmental. You felt apprehensive, but curious at the same time on what was on his mind when he looked at you in that way.
“You’d never get in my way.”
You hoped he was right.
"Most of the people on the Japanese team are people I played against in high school," Tobio said while looking at you.
You made a humming sound as you stared back at him. Things have changed a little since you’ve became adults. Every weekend, when there was time, Tobio and you did your routine: go to each other's houses to watch a game and have dinner together. He always brought the food, served you and always sat extremely close to you, which you always found strange, but eventually got used to.
Kageyama Tobio was no longer that little wolf, he was now much taller than before - even though he had always been bigger than you - and much more muscular and athletic. When he wasn't training, he was in the gym keeping himself in shape like a good professional player.
He still had that awkward personality, which you discovered was just a genuine difficulty in communicating (and he didn't care that much about that either) and his strangely penetrating gazes. But today you were no longer frightened by them. Tobio never looked at you with hostility and always tried to keep his tone of voice light when talking to you. He also became good at sensing your discomfort and providing cover if you felt overwhelmed in any environment. You kind of understood your mother when she said she swallowed her fear to become friends with your father.
You also kind of understood when she fell in love with him.
“At least they're people you know, for better or worse,” you replied as you ate your soba. “And Hinata will also be there. Aren’t you happy for the old days?”
“Miya Atsumu will be there too.”
You smiled and rested your head on his shoulder playfully. "I find it really funny how he can piss you off sometimes."
His reaction was to rest his head on yours, like a caress, and go back to eating as if nothing had happened. On the other hand, you should have gotten used to this type of thing by now. Tobio, when you two became really close, had no problem touching you. He would bump his arm on yours, almost like a light brush, he would guide you through very crowded places with a hand on your shoulder, almost like a hug, and at times like that he would rest his head on yours. Funny how he didn't seem to like touching anyone else but you more than the necessary.
These kinds of things still made your face heat up and your heart do funny things. But apparently, to him, it was normal. Tobio did all these things with a neutral expression. As if it was completely natural.
“Are you going to watch it on TV?"
You hated to admit how touched you were when he asked if you were going to watch on TV and didn't demand your presence in person at any game. The first and last time you went personally was in the Adlers vs MSBY and you had to be pulled out by your friends before the game was even halfway through. Even though you had been dealing with predators for so long, walking into a stadium full of them screaming and cheering was making your senses go crazy and you panicked. You remember almost crying while apologizing for not being able to watch. For leaving.
His hug was tight, his hand pressed your head on his chest while he called you an idiot for thinking he would care about it.
“Yup, yup. As if you would miss the great Kageyama Tobio representing Japan in the Olympics. I wouldn't miss it for the world.”
He gave you a small and almost imperceptible smile in the Kageyama style.
“That wolf boy really got well in life,” your father spoke while watching the game. “I'm going to have a rich and famous son-in-law, how strange.”
Your eyes widened, “what?”
Your mother elbowed him as she smiled at you. "What your father meant was that you two would make a good match, even if it’s unusual. I mean, I did marry a fox myself."
With your mouth open you could only stare at them. In the background you could hear the announcer narrating the game and your parents seemed to hesitate at your reaction. Before you could think of a response, your father sighed and leaned forward so he could look into your eyes.
“It goes without saying that no father particularly likes to hand over his daughter to just anyone,” his voice was serious. “But that young man follows you and looks at you like a wolf cub hoping you’ll give him attention.”
Hearing this kind of thing was disconcerting. It almost gave a little hope that a predator like Kageyama Tobio would want to bond with a doe. Predators like him belonged with other predators. Extremely handsome, strong, and completely capable of landing a mate on his level. Maybe a model or another volleyball player, not a doe who couldn't handle a crowd without her instincts overtaking her. Maybe a wolf like him, or even a cheetah if he improved his communication skills.
"I- that doesn't make any sense. We've been friends since we were little, Tobio just takes care of me because he knows I'm a prey that hasn't fully gotten used to-”
“Sweetheart,” your mother's gentle voice cut you off. “Do you know what the wolves' courtship rituals are? If you don't know, you should look it up.”
The game kept going on. However, you couldn't concentrate on it, your eyes were unfocused towards the screen while your mind was racing. You had looked up wolf courtship methods a few years ago out of pure curiosity. You wanted to know if it was so different from yours - and it was, does were courted and responded to scents basically. Wolves also responded by scent, but they also got close to the suitor, touched each other and rubbed their faces against each other just like... like Tobio did with you.
And on television, you heard a shout: "It's a no-touch ace by Japanese player, Kageyama Tobio!"
“You are avoiding me.”
“I am not.”
Kageyama furrowed his eyebrows and adjusted his posture, looking down at you and crossing his arms as he stood at the door of your apartment. You felt smaller than ever.
Yes, you were kind of avoiding him. Yes, you might have not responded to his last text and yes, you might have canceled the last get together of yours in his apartment.
“Let me in,” and you did.
In your defense, you needed to think. Having feelings for your best friend was something you already knew you had. Tobio was awkwardly sweet, always smelled great (you never had to smell him after a game, though), was criminally handsome, his voice was really hot to hear (even better when he’s sleepy) also, he always was somewhat tender to you. Tender like always getting your favorite food, always protecting you in public spaces, always using his smell and warmth to give you a sense of relief when dealing with strangers.
He never used a lot of words, but he never had to with you.
“What’s going on?” he asked when you closed the door.
Your body was tense as you moved to the couch. You needed to sit down to have this conversation, your brain felt like it was going to hyperventilate and the last thing you needed was to faint in front of him.
“First, I’m sorry. Some things happened and I got a little overwhelmed. I’ve heard someth-”
“Someone said something to you? What? Who?” His voice was lower than normal and there was some kind of animalistic sound in it.
“No one threatened me,” you raised your hands and looked him in the eyes to try to appease his protective instinct. “It’s just… you really don’t need to worry.”
But apparently, he was having none of that. He knelt in front of you and brought his face closer to yours. You always thought Tobio's eyes were beautiful. The color became more intense the more serious and focused he was. Looking at him, so close, brought a slight tug in your heart that you weren't expecting. You brought your hands towards his face, holding it affectionately. His expression became confused.
“I worry about you,” was the only thing he said as your thumbs caressed his cheeks.
You wanted to kiss him. You wanted him to kiss you. You wanted something you couldn't have. Something that you shouldn't have. Someone was more deserving of that male than you. A female or male who’s also a predator. Someone who could go to his games without any problems, someone who could face others without feeling their throat tighten.
“Tobio,” your voice was like a whisper. “Why haven’t you bonded with someone yet?”
His gaze changed. Back was that piercing blue eyes staring deep inside your soul.
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I want you to accept me.”
Tobio’s hand went to your knees and his ears were deeply red. His voice failed him when he answered and you could feel his embarrassment to say this out loud. Your eyes widened and you didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t just anyone. He was Kageyama Tobio. Your childhood best friend, Olympic and professional volleyball player. And he was a wolf.
“I’m a prey,” your voice trembled. “I’m just a doe.”
“Prey or not prey, I only thought of you as my mate.”
You let out a breathless laugh. That’s so him, so Tobio. He’s simple like that. He kept staring at you and now his eyes alternated between your eyes and mouth. His ears were still red while he was waiting for your answer. You spread your knees a little allowing his large body to fit between it. He leaned towards you as you lightly pulled his face to yours.
Kissing Tobio was as awkward as him. He tensed a little, then relaxed. His scent became stronger, reacting to you and his hands moved to your thighs. Your hands found his neck while you tilted your head to kiss him better. You could feel your body warming up to him, for him. When one kiss ended, another began with more desire. His tongue sought yours, you lightly sucked his lower lip.
You decided you loved kissing Kageyama Tobio.
When you separated, his head fit into your neck, rubbing his nose and kissing your skin tenderly. His hands moved from your thighs to your waist and he got closer to you, still on the floor. His wolf instincts telling him to touch you, to get closer to you, to mark his partner with his scent.
“Are you my mate now?,” he asked.
“If you want me to be,” you answered.
When he kissed you again, you wished he would leave his scent all over your body.

Wakatoshi:
The whole country buzzed as the world began to watch Japan as there was only less than a week until the olympics that had been pushed back a whole year, was finally happening
Energy, pressure, excitement was picking up in everyone, especially the Japan Volleyball team, all for everyone except your husband - or at least that’s what it seemed like to you
He was always calm and composed, his face stoic but you knew inside he did feel something - he wasn’t just a statue people assumed him to be
Team practices had surrpisng;y been the same, although you did think that they would be extended or longer since it was the olympics after all
But no
Today was Sunday, a rare rest day before your husband would be off at the games, playing multiple until there were only 2 teams left, where only one team would prove to be the best in the world
The two of your guys’ hands were being held by your three year old son as he ran and would jump while you two would swing him occasionally
But everything about today felt so nice - Sundays were just so nice, like nothing could go wrong when you got to be with your small family
The cafe door chimed as the two of you walked in, finding it surprisingly empty
“Welcome~” the baristas welcomed the three of you as your son bounced around your side, holding your hand
“Good morning,” the two of you greeted as you two stood, looking at the menu, reading through the options to see what would be good
“Papa, I wanna see,” your son whined, his cheeks puffy and lips pouty as he tugged on his dad’s fingers
“Alright,” he lips pulled into a light smile as he lifted his son, holding him against his side
The little boy was curious as he peered over, holding onto his dad’s shirt as he looked behind the glass, eyes gluing themselves into the sweet pastries and cake pops that were assorted beautifully for display
He pointed, eyes wide but staying silent as he just looked, wanting the sweets but it was far too early for such sweetness
You and Toshi had ordered your guys’ breakfasts before finding a comfortable booth deeper inside the cafe
It was so nice with their false floral decorum strung up and wrapped around the wooden beams, giving it a nice natural aesthetic although the location was in the midst of the city
There were also even cardboard cutouts of the Japan volleyball team, through only a few, and Wakatoshi stood in the dining area, “smiling”
Yet the cafe was surprisingly empty, except for the baristas so it didn’t take long at all for the food to come out after a short wait, with the porridges and egg sandwiches and hot coffees and juice for S/N
The three of you got to eating, taking your sweet time to simply enjoy each other’s company’s after quite a long time
Occasionally, your son would stare at either you or Toshi, silently signaling how he wanted a bite of your guys’s food even though it was the same as his but but two would take turns, feeding him a bite to satisfy him
When the food was done and the table was cleared, aside from the coffee, you two talked about errands to go, maybe a walk around to just really feel like life was as simple as possible
You really missed your husband despite him being right there, right here in front of you but you could feel yourself slowly healing, filling back up the longer his olive green eyes looked into your own, witnessing his pupils dilate whenever you spoke or when you reached your hand and intertwined your fingers with his before he covered both of your guys’ hand with his other one
He really had you falling in love with him all over again
And then there was the human embodiment of your guys’ love
Your son scooted himself safely off the short chair and walked over to the cardboard cutout of your husband and stood at his legs, his small head leaned back to look all the way up the board
“Papa, you’re here too.” The little boy turned around and pointed up as the son smiled a little before turning back
“Indeed.” Your husband smiled as his hands squeezed around yours, his touch so warm as it had always been

Sakusa:
“Ready for this, baby?” He looked down to his daughter who followed him, smiling and looking up to him with grabby hands
“Atta girl,” he smiled through his mask as he pulled it down and knelt before the walker
He applied sunscreen to her precious face, maybe putting a little too much over her chubby cheeks but better to be safe than sorry
Plus he just couldn’t get used to how puffy and soft they were
“You got little mocha cheeks, moch,” he scrunched his nose as he playfully pinched her cheeks, wanting to bite them out of how cute they were to which she just smiled at the comments
But there was also a subtle brush of pride in him that surfaced knowing that this was his baby
This adorable little girl that had dark, curly/ wavy hair like him was his baby
He carefully put on her sun hat, making sure it didn’t pull on her hair or hurt her head in any way
And finally, put on her own little mask that he handmade after painstakingly pricking himself with the needle but watched and learned how to make face masks for kids
It was secure enough that she wouldn’t breathe in anything harmful to her but loose enough so she could breathe easily
He slid the door onto the backyard open, his body hunched toward the ground as his daughter held his hand as he led her out the door and onto the patio
on the other hand, held his cardboard cutout at an arms distance away, along with a bottle of disinfectant spray, walking to lay it onto the grass, which he covered a plot of it with a tarp
He laid himself down in the sun as his daughter stood behind him, a few feet away
The edges of his rubber gloves slapped his wrists as he shook the disinfectant spray can
He sprayed the cardboard cutout with the disinfectant before letting it lay in the sun for a bit, even wondering why he had listened to bokuto and atsumu on taking it home, especially with the pandemic
He sighed knowing there was absolutely no use for it
And then he felt the familiar feel of his daughter hold onto his leg and she shyly got closer
Kiyoomi looked down as a gentle breeze blew through, making the grass in the yard move in a wave as his little girl’s hair was all in her face, her hat no longer on her head and on the floor on the patio
He removed his gloves as he squatted down to clear the hair from her face
“There you go,” he smiled a bit as she rest her dainty hands on his leg, staring at the cardboard cutout of her dad
“Papa,” she spoke quietly, her voice kind of muffled through the fabric of the mask as she pointed, squatting down beside kiyoomi before looking back up to him, squinting cause of the bright sun
“Why’d you take off your hat, germ?” He scoffed lightly as he raised his hand above her head, providing shade for her face from the sun
Still in her squatting position, she waddled closely and tested the waters, extending her finger to the cardboard cutout of kiyoomi and looked back
“Mmhm, that’s me..” he  dodged before his eyes fell back on the thing… there really was no use for it.. sigh
She patted her hand on her dad’s cardboard cheek, mesmerized by it
Kiyoomi watched as she tilted her head back and forth as another breeze blew by, making her short hair dance in the wind
But also thankfully, the disinfectant spray had dried so it was perfectly safe for her to touch
The two of them stayed squatted in the grass, feeling the summer sun’s warmth and breeze come and go
But she had been looking at his cardboard face a little too long
“Hey, butterfly.” He gently tapped onto her back, getting her to turn around and lose her balance, making her sit on the grass
“Is that papa?”
She processed what he had asked and looked back to it then back to him and nodded
“Who am I then?” He pointed to himself, pulling down his mask
“Papa.” She said, standing herself up and walking over to him, standing in between his squatted legs as she held onto his shirt
He brushed off the dust and grass off her bottom
“Who’s the better papa, then?”
“You!” She jumped, making a smile spread across his lips as he pulled her in to hug her, pressing a kith to her chubby mochi cheeks
“Hm, what a smart little butterfly,” he hummed before lifting her up into his arms to bring her inside
“Let’s change and eat some lunch.” He walked back in, leaving his cardboard cutout outside
