His family got them kicked out of the dwarf kingdom for rigging dwarven Wrestlemania matches. He has fingers in literally every crime ring in Kirkwall. He lives in a pub. He named his weapon after his absent girlfriend with whom he has a restraining order. He denies his involvement in keeping the wizard police away from his friend’s illegal magic Urgent Care. He’s the mom of the friend group. And he does this all while being four feet tall

Do you ever think that, by Act 3, the majority of the crew gets really protective of their mages? This was mostly prompted because I went to the Viscount's keep with just Anders and Hawke in the party, and I was acutely aware of the fact that there were templars everywhere. To the point where I could even see my Hawke getting into a panic over it if he's not careful. I just imagine that, after once or twice of this happening, the rogues and warriors insist on at least one of them accompanying the mages at all times. Not because any of them are defenseless —far from it— but because all it takes is for one templar to be in a bad mood, one templar to dispel their magic, and they're being hauled off to the Gallows. Possibly made Tranquil. And maybe it's my personal bias speaking but, for all his distrust with mages, I can definitely see Fenris being the main enforcer of this rule in the group. No matter the mage. He's just obviously quicker to get frustrated with or scold Anders and Merrill. Doesn't mean he's gonna abandon them though, especially after knowing each other for years.

I wonder how Aveline is doing. As Viscount. Does she already know Varric isn't coming back? Are she and Sebastian holding the fort in Starkhaven while Kirkwall is overrun? Does she know Isabela is living her best life dressed in slutty pirate gear?

And whre the fuc is Merrill. Whre is she Bioware where IS SHE??!!!

My fav da2 group dynamic in fics has got to be when; even if they don’t all like like each other, everyone is at least a little bit in love with each other, platonically (first and foremost) and/or romantically.

Thinking of how tragic Hawke's life turned out. First you father and sibling die during the blight and then your other sibling has the potential to die after the deep roads expedition. And either way they're out of your life after that point. Then your mother is murdered and the only family you have left is your sleazy uncle, who hasn't had the best life himself. I think romancing Anders is always the most tragic too. Supporting the templars or supporting the mages, he'll always blow up the chantry. Not to mention that you see him slowly get eaten away by Justice. Do you slay him for it? Do you let him flee never to be seen again? Or do you keep supporting him? Either choice is heartbreaking because he's not the same man from Act 1. He's not even the same man from Awakening anymore, just a shell of his former self. And as always, Hawke has to be the 'Champion.' I can't even imagine what that's like, especially if you have a rivalry with all of the companions because you can't really call them friends at that point. Hawke just ends up alone. Especially if Hawke is left at the fade...

Thinking about the dragon age characters meeting the bg3 characters occupies a large part of my brain nowadays

Anders would likely hate Astarion with a passion (probably because he reminds him of himself without Justice) and also want to fuck him. Zevran would jump Astarion immediately. Knives to each other’s necks as they both try to assassinate each other at the same time and then just end up on the ground for a different reason. Fenris, despite their similar backgrounds, would fucking hate Astarion. Isabela would so enjoy tormenting Gale. Karlach would try and probably fail to befriend Fenris. Lae’zel and Fenris, however, would be friends. Same with Shadowheart. Anders would not be able to resist Halsin. It is canon that this man likes bears (not the actual kind). Alistair and Lae’zel would get along like oil and water. Alistair and Shadowheart however could talk about their religious trauma together. Alistair and Wyll would definitely get along. I want to see Morrigan, Solas, and Gale all interact. The sheer amount of hubris in one place would literally cause an explosion (“I fucked a god” “I gave birth to a reincarnated old god” “bitch I AM a god”). Merrill and Withers. That’s it.

Leandra throwing so many parties among Kirkwall's elite, but she never fails to invite Garrett and all of his friends. She even ensures that they all attend. The nobility always likes to talk amongst themselves about how unique Hawke's friend group is, but Leandra will shut down any negative talk about them, and quick.

Even outside of parties, she's basically the mother figure of the whole friend group. Always greets them with joy when they stop by the estate to speak with Hawke. Makes sure that they have all eaten and rested. Scolds them when they don't take care of themselves. Assures them that, if any of them ever need a place to lay low or make a quick escape (especially in the case of the mage companions), they're more than welcome to come over until the coast is clear.

I’m not one for high school AUs, but I have to admit they do often translate in a fun way depending on the general angst and turmoil of the source material.

Anyway I had some random thoughts about Dragon Age 2 high school AU that would not leave me in peace so here they are:

Varric does not do the school paper. Somehow he has a regular guest column in the actual town newspaper. The school paper editor hates him so much.

Carver and Hawke are both on the (American) football team.

Hawke is the quarterback, and since female quarterbacks are unusual, she’s always being interviewed by newspapers and morning talk shows

“She doesn’t even want to play football in college so why can’t she just find the hell something else to do” -Carver

Bethany is in every single academic honors society and everyone has known she’ll be valedictorian since middle school. She sweeps at the academic fair every year and does a ton of volunteer work outside of school. She is so nice to everyone that no one is really annoyed by the overachieving.

Merrill is the cute little goth girl who makes everyone’s parents nervous. She is surrounded by wild rumors: that she drinks blood, that she ate a cat once, that she burned down her parents’ house and that’s why she had to switch schools and live with her grandmother

Isabela is obsessed with cars. She has an incredibly nice and expensive foreign sports car that she maintains herself. Rumors abound about how she managed to afford it.

Isabela got caught stealing a car anyway and is still doing community service for it.

Sebastian is the guy whose personality is “youth group” but he’s hot enough to still be popular anyway

Fenris is a quiet, brooding emo boy who just moved here and doesn’t talk to anyone. He never takes off his headphones. Despite this, half the school is in love with him.

Anders used to be a fun party boy but he completely changed over the summer and no one knows why.

Anders is always sending leftist opinion pieces to the city newspaper. Every now and again one will mysteriously make it to final print. Varric swears innocence.

Anders does community service alongside Isabela because he was arrested at a protest. As soon as he’s done with community service for one, he ends up arrested at another protest and the cycle continues until someone in authority gets sick of it

Aveline is in JROTC and takes it very seriously. She’s also on the color guard.

Anders is constantly in detention for calling the school resource officer a pig

When Carver was crushing hard on Merrill, his football bros told him not to because she’s too creepy but he says “counterpoint: maybe I can touch her boobs” and they’re forced to concede.

Aveline and Anders have been in a fistfight because Anders called her a narc. Aveline won the fight.
