Born on this day: happy 66th birthday to the wondrous Cindy Wilson (née Cynthia Leigh Wilson, 28 February 1957), one of the founding members of essential post-punk band the B-52’s! For me, Wilson’s dissonant science fiction anti-harmonies with co-vocalist Kate Pierson are one of the defining sounds of 1980s American New Wave music! I especially treasure Wilson’s lead vocals on tracks “Hero Worship” and “Give Me Back My Man.” She also, of course, has exemplary taste in beehive wigs.
