A lesson though natural calamity

Whichever city we are living in, can we say with certainty that our place is foolproof from natural calamity? Not so, due to effects of Global Warming. Drastic changes in climatic conditions can have disastrous blow on human society. Recently Super Cyclone at east coast of India laid bare vulnerability of human existence. Cyclone Amphan pounded Orissa, Calcutta and other parts of Bengal for several hours on 20th May, 2020. Ferocious wind accompanied by heavy rain wrecked havoc on lives and properties This was catastrophic at the backdrop of ongoing global pandemic.

Reconstruction is long drawn process. Center and state collaboration can revive devastated lives and landscape. In the beginning of June 2020, Dream City Mumbai felt the wrath of nature with Nisarg cyclone. Although landfall happened at Alibag in Raigad district, strong wind, high waves in Arabian sea, heavy rain, waterlogging, uprooting of trees reported in parts of Mumbai and nearby coastal regions. It's a wake up call for everyone to refrain from environmental damage through carbon emissions. Afforestation is highly needed. If we're indifferent towards environmental balance, more inconvenient consequences are awaited.

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे ने बुधवार क�� कहा कि लोगों और अधिकारियों द्वारा दिखाए गए हिम्मत और जज्बे के कारण चक्रवाती तूफान निसर्ग के खतरे से निपटने में सहायता मिली. ठाकरे ने कहा कि तटीय कोंकण और कुछ अन्य क्षेत्रों से नुकसान की खबर प्राप्त हुई है. उन्होंने कहा कि चक्रवात के कारण हुए नुकसान की समीक्षा के लिए जांच करने के आदेश दे दिए गए हैं. मुख्यमंत्री ने एक वक्तव्य में कहा, “लोगों द्वारा प्रदर्शित की गई एकता महाराष्ट्र को इस संकट से उबार लेगी.”
