Cycle Oregon Recap
Even the best laid plans sometimes go awry, but we’re always here at BikeFlights.com to help you make the most of whatever does happen. We were very disappointed to learn of the cancellation of Cycle Oregon earlier this month due to the wildfires burning in Oregon. Not only had we planned to attend, but we knew that many of our customers would be affected.
Ashes covered the BikeFlights.com van during the Oregon wild fires that forced the cancellation of Cycle Oregon.
As an official event partner, we worked closely with Cycle Oregon and its riders to help them make the necessary resulting changes to their bike shipping. Some riders had already sent their bikes to the event; others had not yet shipped them out.
“I was proud of how our staff reached out to those who had booked their bikes with BikeFlights.com to go to Cycle Oregon,” said William Alcorn, BikeFlights.com’s Owner. “They worked with each rider quickly and effectively to figure out what they wanted to do, and we got everyone’s bikes delivered to where they wanted them to go.”
Some riders modified their travel plans, so we rerouted many bikes to different destinations within and outside of Oregon. We hope that those cyclists still got to enjoy some great riding in other places. We also re-routed some bikes directly back home to their owners, and canceled those shipments that had not yet gone out.
“These folks are amazing! Great customer service is most evident when things go wrong. What went wrong was Oregon wildfires and the cancellation of Cycle Oregon. What went right was BikeFlights.com’s swift and exceptional customer service. Thank you for being truly professional, responsive, and generous,” said Harry Brull according one Google review.
Another customer identified as Toto’s Big Adventure said in a TrustPilot review, “Although the event (Cycle Oregon) was cancelled due to fires in the West, my bicycle had an excellent and very timely Grand Adventure to Oregon... I found Bikeflights very responsive (especially given the circumstances and the number of people and logistics impacted) both by phone and email. I ‘enjoyed’ following the progress of my best friend and beloved partner in crime (my bicycle) in its journey to Oregon and back to Maine and took great comfort in knowing where he was all along the way. Well done, BikeFlights.com!”

There's been a splotch of rubbery blue paint on the pedestrian/bike path over the Morrison Bridge a few days now. I like it; it's the expanding piles of dog shit I'm against. #cycleoregon (at Morrison Bridge Portland, Or)

BikeFlights.com Hits the Road
BikeFlights.com has always partnered with great cycling events across the country, making travel there and back easier, more reliable and more affordable. We’re excited to not only announce our 2017 schedule but also that we are expanding our physical presence at events.
We’ve been accused of just using this as an excuse to ride our bikes in some of the best cycling events and locations in the country, and we can’t deny that. But we’re also dedicated to helping others do the same!
In addition to simply being present at events across the country, we’re also expanding the way we serve some events, including a few premier rides (to name a few): Ride the Rockies (June 10-17), RAGBRAI XLV (July 23-29) and Cycle Oregon (September 9-16). Our team will be onsite to manage shipments, assembly/disassembly services, box/case storage and transit, return shipping and more.
Ride the Rockies
The Denver Post Ride The Rockies is an annual bicycle tour that takes an estimated 2,300 cyclists on a six- to seven-day ride on paved roads through Colorado's Rocky Mountains each June, and it benefits The Denver Post Community Foundation.
“BikeFlights.com does more than coordinate bike shipping and receiving for our riders. We're excited to work with them because they have truly demonstrated flexibility in accommodating the unique requests of our bicycle tour,” says Renee Wheelock, Ride the Rockies Tour Director.
RAGBRAI
About a month later we’ll be preparing for the famous bike ride across Iowa, RAGBRAI XLV.
“RAGBRAI XLV is excited about working with BikeFlights.com for the first time in 2017. We have participants from all 50 states and 19 countries, and I hear concerns from riders all the time about how difficult it is to bring along a bike when travelling from afar to our event. It’s great that we can offer a bike shipping solution that takes all of the logistics out of the equation,” said Assistant RAGBRAI Director, Scott Garner.
“Riders no longer need to make arrangements for a delivery location in our starting town. That’s all taken care of through our partnership with BikeFlights.com. Your bike will be waiting for you when you get to the start town, no hassles and no worries.”
Cycle Oregon
In September we’re proud to be serving the iconic ride in our home state of Oregon, Cycle Oregon.
“Cycle Oregon is turning the big 3-0 this year and to honor this momentous occasion, we have put together a timeless ride. Showcasing the rugged, magnificent midsection of our beloved state, we’ve laid a route traveling into the noble Cascade Range, cruising alongside wild, scenic rivers, and skirting the rim of the mesmerizing, deep, blue waters of Crater Lake,” says Cycle Oregon’s Chris Knott.
“We are incredibly excited to to partner with BikeFlights.com for this year's adventure. They offer our riders top notch service at a much lower cost than we've been able to offer in the past. BikeFlights.com allows people to skip the hassle of transportation by having their bike shipped directly to the start of the ride."
We now have a BikeFlights van on each coast and we’ll be attacking events from both sides.

Day 1 Kicking off your WEEKENDER of freewheeling bike fun, choose from three routes that all start from the University of Oregon campus in Eugene before hopping on a bike path along the Willamette River. The short, most family-friendly route branches off at mile 3, travels through the edge of Springfield, and then uses a bike path along the Middle Fork of the Willamette River before returning to campus. The medium and long routes venture through forested areas leading to the town of Mohawk. Afte...
