------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Modern Era (1980s-Present)
Modern Government & Diplomacy:
Global Influence
Neutrality as a Diplomatic Tool:
Haiqin has perfected the art of neutrality, using it not only to avoid military entanglements but to position itself as a diplomatic hub. The country plays a key role in mediating between powers in global conflicts, regional South Asian tensions, European and American issues, and East Asian territorial disagreements. Additionally, Haiqin has hosted negotiations between superpowers, ensuring peaceful resolutions in situations involving complex geopolitical rivalries. Haiqin’s neutral position allows it to act as a safe intermediary for humanitarian ceasefire agreements and non-governmental organizations.
International Organizations:
Haiqin’s representatives have held leadership positions in various international organizations, including serving on the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member multiple times. The nation is also part of organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, where it promotes policies on equitable economic growth and sustainable development. Haiqin spearheads climate change discussions, advocating for stronger emissions regulations and funding for green technology development in developing nations.
Membership in International Organizations:
Beyond the UN and WTO, Haiqin has also taken leadership roles in climate action groups such as the Paris Agreement coalition and environmental sustainability pacts. Its position in the OECD has allowed it to participate in policy-making around economic growth, sustainability, and international tax reform, using its influence to promote eco-friendly practices and digital innovations across borders.
Strategic Alliances:
Despite its neutrality, Haiqin has formed strategic alliances with nations such as Switzerland, Sweden, and Canada. These alliances are based on shared values of environmental sustainability, human rights, and technological innovation. These relationships have bolstered Haiqin’s influence in international environmental summits like COP, where it frequently serves as a mediator between major world powers. Even while neutral, they have one of the strongest militaries.
In recent years, Haiqin has strengthened ties with countries in Northern Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea, focusing on creating a global "Green Alliance" promoting renewable energy and sustainable industrial practices. Its strategic partnerships focus on technological innovation, intellectual property agreements, and knowledge exchange in science and education. These partnerships extend to cooperative space research initiatives, placing Haiqin at the forefront of cutting-edge satellite technology and space exploration.
The Military:
While Haiqin advocates for peace, it maintains one of the world’s most advanced and well-equipped military forces, particularly in the fields of cyber defense and intelligence. Haiqin’s military is recognized for its rigorous training in both conventional combat and modern cyber-warfare techniques. Specialized units focus on counter-terrorism, environmental protection, and strategic disaster responses. Military service remains voluntary but highly prestigious, with many youth aspiring to join due to the opportunities it offers in education, training, and post-service careers. Also many snipers are woman, so yeah.
Diplomacy & Neutrality
Mediation Efforts:
Haiqin's diplomats are often called upon to mediate some of the world's most complex conflicts. A notable instance was the 1998 Haiqin-brokered peace agreement between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, which brought about a temporary ceasefire and facilitated humanitarian aid in the region. Haiqin has also mediated North Korean and South Korean negotiations in partnership with international powers, reinforcing its role as a stabilizing force.
Bridge Between Cultures:
Cultural exchange remains a key strategy in Haiqin's diplomatic toolkit. The government sponsors international art exhibitions, theater tours, and music festivals to foster goodwill with other nations. Haiqin's rich blend of Greek and Native influences, along with its modern artistic contributions, gives it unique cultural appeal. Modern Society:
Cultural Identity and Pride
Preservation of Heritage:
In response to the rapid changes brought by globalization, Haiqin has doubled down on the preservation of its heritage. The government funds cultural preservation projects aimed at safeguarding the nation’s languages, art forms, and historical sites. Museums and cultural centers are abundant, and children are taught the nation’s history from a young age, fostering a deep sense of identity and pride in their cultural roots.
Pride in Heritage:
Haiqin's citizens take immense pride in their cultural heritage. Educational institutions emphasize the importance of local history, folklore, and traditional arts, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots. This cultural pride manifests in community events, where local artisans showcase their crafts and traditions.
Education and Family Values:
Haiqin's education system is widely regarded as one of the most progressive in the world, focusing not only on academic success but also on emotional well-being and creativity. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, global awareness, and environmental stewardship. Families play a vital role in the educational system, with parents heavily involved in their children’s academic lives. Traditional family values are emphasized alongside modern ideas of personal growth and mental health, creating a balanced approach to parenting.
Festivals and Community Celebrations:
Traditional festivals such as the “Harvest Moon Festival” and the “Festival of Winds” bring together Haiqin’s past and present. These events are occasions for the display of martial arts, traditional music, and culinary art. Contemporary cultural celebrations, such as film and music festivals, also play an important role, attracting international tourists and boosting local economies. Art exhibitions featuring both historical artifacts and modern creations are common, and these events foster community bonding while preserving cultural identity.
Military:
Veterans in Haiqin receive some of the most comprehensive benefits globally, ensuring they are well-supported in retirement and honored for their service. Many veterans transition into leadership roles in government, NGOs, and private sectors, particularly in industries related to security, disaster relief, or humanitarian work. The military also collaborates with civilian industries in developing technology for public use, fostering strong ties between the defense sector and national growth.
Artisans and Entertainment
Cultural Powerhouse:
The modern era has seen Haiqin's entertainment industry gain significant international acclaim. Integration of Arts in Education:
Arts are woven into the very fabric of Haiqin’s education system, where schools offer specialized programs in music, theater, dance, and visual arts. Many schools encourage artistic collaboration, fostering the next generation of creative thinkers who will shape the cultural landscape of the nation.
The arts are not just a hobby in Haiqin—they are an integral part of the education system. From primary school to university, students are exposed to music, dance, theater, and visual arts, fostering creativity and cultural pride. This has led to the country producing internationally-renowned artists, filmmakers, and writers who continuously push the boundaries of their crafts.
Nonlethal Duels in Nirin
Hanging Crescent Moon Arena:
The Hanging Crescent Moon Arena is more than just a site for nonlethal duels—it has become a cultural icon. Every year, the nation hosts the “Crescent Games,” a series of competitions where participants display their mastery of traditional martial arts in non-lethal combat. These duels emphasize discipline, skill, and respect, celebrating the nation’s warrior roots while promoting nonviolence. The military units in Nirin also train in the arena for certain types of combat.
Cultural Significance:
Nonlethal dueling is more than just a sport; it is a cultural symbol of Haiqin’s values of fairness, discipline, and respect. Fighters wear traditional garb representing their regional and cultural backgrounds, and the duels themselves are often accompanied by ceremonial music and dancing. The competitions are a powerful reminder of Haiqin’s rich martial history, which has evolved into a peaceful and respected modern tradition.

KIRAN RABARI
GENDER: Male
SPECIES: Human (Technopagan)
AGE: 35
SEXUALITY: Pansexual
OCCUPATION: Cyber Security Officer at VC Police Department.
DISTRICT: Chissob Hills
BACKGROUND:
Kiran was always bright, even as a child. Growing up in the Gujarat region of India, he was known for his intelligence from an early age - he flew through school, skipping grades, and earned a renowned scholarship to study Computer Science at university. After a PhD, and several years honing his craft, Kiran was in high demand for any job he desired - when he received an offer from Vievecor City: to train as a technopagan. Relishing the idea of a challenge, for once, as a young man Kiran was off to begin his training - again taking to his new craft, and the supernatural world he then learned of, like a duck to water.
It was within the tech labs at Remington Tower that Kiran met his fiancée, Laila. A fellow technopagan, she was kind and generous, everything Kiran wished he could be. He loved her more than he'd ever loved anything before - and she loved the supernatural world they had both been adopted into with a fierce heart. It was one night, on the way home from a party the both of them had attended together, when the pair were attacked while making their way through the dark streets of VC. Kiran had tried to protect Laila, but he'd been knocked unconscious - and when he awoke, the first thing he saw was her dead body on the ground, covered in wounds he couldn't remember happening. A case of a random mugging gone wrong, the police had said, and he'd had little choice but to accept that.
Life has seemed a blur since then for Kiran, the last 18 months a sad tangle of grief. Though he'd adored being a technopagan, work at Remington Towers has been too painful since then, reminding him too much of the love he'd lost. With the help of references from his work, Kiran managed to obtain a job instead heading up cyber security at VC Police Department - hoping there, perhaps, he can at least help in some way to prevent what happened to him, and his Laila, happening to anyone else again. He's thrown himself into his work with the police, often seen at a computer screen late into the night and sleeping at his desk - the only way he knows to cope with everything he has been through.

3. Talent Acquisition and Retention:
The acquisition and retention of talent pose an ongoing problem for the IT industry, as it continues to seek and keep qualified workers. The scarcity of highly specialised skills frequently results in a disparity between demand and supply, hence engendering intense rivalry for those with such talents. Moreover, the current trends in remote work and the increasing globalisation of the talent market serve to exacerbate this challenge. In order to tackle this issue, a reliable IT company in India like Nivida Web Solutions prioritises the enhancement of the skills of their current workforce, provides enticing remuneration packages, cultivates a favourable work environment, and creates avenues for professional advancement and personal improvement.
4. Technological Advancements and Adaptability:
The expeditious rate at which technological developments are occurring has both advantages and disadvantages for the IT business. Although these developments present promising prospects, they also present a difficulty in terms of adaptation. Keeping abreast of developing technology and enabling a smooth transition to new platforms and tools may be a demanding task. In order to effectively adapt to emerging technology, IT organisations must allocate resources towards the implementation of continual training and development programmes, which aim to equip their personnel with the requisite skills.
5. Resource Optimization and Scalability:
The optimisation of resources and the effective scalability of operations have emerged as significant challenges in recent times. The management of resources and the scaling of operations in response to varying market needs and the imperative of cost-effectiveness can provide intricate challenges. Cloud computing and intelligent resource allocation are essential solutions that can be employed to effectively address this dilemma. The utilisation of cloud solutions by Nivida Web Solutions - a recognised IT company in Gujarat, India, allows for enhanced flexibility and cost-efficiency, hence assuring the appropriate allocation of resources.
6. Integration and Interoperability:
The IT environment is distinguished by a diverse array of systems and applications that necessitate harmonious integration. The task of achieving integration and interoperability across diverse platforms, legacy systems, and emerging technologies poses a significant challenge. The establishment of interconnectedness is crucial in facilitating an effective and productive IT ecosystem. It is imperative for the industry to prioritise the development of standardised interfaces, utilise APIs effectively, and implement integration platforms in order to improve interoperability.
7. Environmental Sustainability:
Environmental sustainability has emerged as a pressing issue in various sectors, encompassing the field of IT. The IT industry possesses a substantial carbon footprint as a result of its energy consumption, generation of electronic waste, and operations of data centres. In the year 2023, the sector is faced with the task of identifying environmentally sustainable solutions and adopting practices that effectively mitigate their ecological footprint. The use of green technology, the optimisation of data centre efficiency, and the incorporation of circular economy concepts are positive measures in the pursuit of sustainability objectives.
Final Thoughts:
The IT sector encounters a diverse range of issues in the year 2023, necessitating the implementation of proactive and strategic methodologies. Addressing a range of difficulties, including cybersecurity risks, talent acquisition, technological adaptation, and sustainability, is necessary in order to establish and maintain a flourishing and sustainable information technology ecosystem. By adopting a proactive approach towards innovation, allocating resources towards skill enhancement, and placing emphasis on adherence to regulations and sustainability, Nivida Web Solutions - the most distinguished IT company in Vadodara, may effectively navigate the obstacles it faces and emerge with increased resilience. The nights are tasteless without you: part 5 ~ Ari Levinson fic
A/N - This is my first proper multiple chapter story which came to me while watching a Bollywood movie. It is set in Mumbai India where Ari is a professor at a university meets a person of colour - Marathi girl at the train station. There will be other Chris Evans characters as professors and Henry Cavill characters as professors
Warning: Please read this before reading the story. 18+, smut, sex… etc
Ari was going to Andy's birthday dinner which was held at the Taj. He was nervous about meeting Andy's friends and trying to make conversation with them. He was told some of the teachers from the university would be coming.
He quickly got ready, grabbing the gift he got Andy with Maddy's help. It was a nice fountain pen for all the documents he had to sign. Ari grabbed his phone and keys hearing the taxi horn signaling his ride is here.
Arriving at the Taj, Ari was greeted by Andy who wanted to make him feel welcome. They hugged, Ari giving him his gift before walking inside.
Andy introduces him to the few teachers that have already arrived, Steve Rogers the boxing coach, Frank Adler the Philosophy professor, Syverson the mechanics professor and Clark Kent the Journalism professor. They all shook his hand, Syverson went to get Ari a beer - Kingfisher.
"Here you go Ari," Syverson said with a southern accent.
"Thanks man, what do you teach," Ari said looking at Syverson built figure and felt a little intimidated.
"I teach mechanics, showing people how to get their hands dirty," he says, winking at Ari.
"Don't mind him, he is already in the party mood," Andy said, taking Ari to meet Steve. Steve was also very built but friendly to talk to. They enjoyed a good conversation about how spicy the food was in Mumbai.
After meeting half the teachers and downing 5 bottles of beer, August and Lloyd strutted inside with sunglasses on.
"Who are they, they look like they are from the mafia," Ari said, making Steve and Andy chuckle.
"Ari, August is the one in the brown suit, he is a motor designing professor, and Lloyd in those ever so tight pants is the head of the IT department. Colin over there in the black suit is the cyber security professor, Jenson in the loud shirt is the web design professor and Ransom in the brown jacket is a coding professor," Andy said, handing Ari and Steve another beer.
Ari looked at them both and smiled, they looked intimidating but he focused his time on the few people he enjoyed talking to, which was Andy, Steve, Colin, and Clark. Music came on and everyone was dancing, lifting Andy and throwing him up in the air.
Everyone was having fun, dancing to bhangra and Bollywood music. It was 12am, Ari was drunk out of his mind and without looking drunk called Maddy.
"Hello Ari, hello. Everything ok," she said, concerned as to why he called her at 12 in the morning.
"I really really like you Maddy," he slurred, taking a swig of his beer.
"I like you Ari, but you're drunk. Please be careful and safe, text me when you reach home. He hummed and hung up and put the phone away grabbing some beer.
It was 2am when Steve offered to drop him home as he only had two beers 4 hours ago. August and Jenson carried Ari into the back seat of the car.
"Maddy," he moaned as August tried to put the seat belt on him. The three men looked at one another and then laughed. Steve got Ari's address from Andy and was able to drive him back home.
Ari's phone kept ringing, the song mamma mia was his ringtone making Jenson sing along to it. The phone stopped ringing and then rang again making August annoyed.
August grabbed the phone out of his jacket and moaned at the candid photo of the girl calling. He pressed the answer button and said,
"Hello sweetheart," he said biting his lip,
"Who you calling sweetheart, can I speak to Ari," Maddy said annoyed.
"Sweetheart, Ari is occupied," August said, opening the camera app and taking a picture of Ari asleep. He sends it to Maddy who gasps, not liking the behavior of the guy on the phone. She hangs up and is now very worried about Ari and hopes he is safe.
Maddy keeps calling every 15 minutes to check up on Ari. August was flirting with her, making Maddy annoyed, hoping Ari is ok. The next time she calls, Jenson takes the phone and speaks to her.
"Hello," Jenson said softly, still singing a song while talking to Maddy.
"Oh you're not the idiot who spoke to me last, I didn't like the way he flirted with me. Can you please make sure Ari is ok and gets home safe, I'm worried about him, he is new in Mumbai," she said, her voice dropping a notch. Her crush for Ari was growing and maybe one day she will get to ask him out for filter coffee.
"No worries, dost, we have Mr Responsable Steve driving, and he will get Ari home safely," Jenson said, smiling at Steve.
"Yes, ma'am, I will take care of your husband," Steve says as the call is on speaker. Before answering, the call got cut, and she wondered why Ari had told them they were married.

ASATA Statement on Palestine | October 2023
ASATA members joined hundreds of protesters in front of the Israeli consulate in San Francisco on October 8, 2023.
The Alliance of South Asians Taking Action stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine in the face of the current escalation of violence unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank. Over the last two weeks, ASATA members looked to the leadership of Palestinian activists in the San Francisco Bay Area who continue to lead protests that lift up the unrelenting resistance of those living under violent occupation.
As we mobilized for direct actions and joined the call for Palestinian liberation, we also deepened our understanding of how the state of Israel’s settler colonial tactics are proliferated and being replicated in the Indian government’s violent occupation of Kashmir. As part of a diverse South Asian Diaspora, ASATA members clearly see the close relationship between Hindutva (Hindu Nationalism) and Zionist ideologies. As South Asians, we challenge all forms of imperialism. Thus, we oppose Zionism, a settler colonial project displacing indigenous Palestinians, resulting in the world’s largest diasporic refugee population.
The current close relationship between India and Israel has enabled a security regime where India has adopted Israeli tactics of collective punishment (such as the arbitrary revocation of residency and citizenship rights, arbitrary detention, statewide suspension of internet, etc.) in its occupation of Kashmir. The deployment of the Israeli hacking software Pegasus to spy on Indian journalists, lawyers, activists, academics, supreme court judges, opposition politicians, and many others must be seen in the context of the announcement by India and Israel that cyber security is a key area of cooperation between them. The NSO group, an Israeli firm that’s an expert in cyber surveillance, has in effect abetted the Indian government’s surveillance of its own citizens as it has done in a dozen other countries.
The Israeli government’s alliance with and support of the BJP’s Hindutva agenda is part of a longer history where it has exported its violent policies and military tactics to South Asia in order to suppress resistance movements there. For example, The New York Times has reported that as early as the 1980s, Israeli intelligence agents trained their Sri Lankan counterparts in their fight against Tamil groups. Israeli human rights lawyer Eitay Mack has raised questions about Israel’s more recent role in war crimes committed during the Sri Lankan civil war, and has called for criminal investigations into the involvement of Israeli companies, officials, and individuals.
India’s embrace of Israel is polarizing the Indian-American diaspora, and has exacerbated the islamophobia of those who subscribe to the toxic ideology of Hindutva. The US-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) is modeled after AIPAC and the AJC, and the Hindutva lobby’s use of the accusation of “Hinduphobia” to shut down critical discourse is inspired by the Zionist lobby’s success in silencing critics of Israel’s policies by weaponizing charges of anti-semitism.
The BJP’s fearsome “IT Cell” is a massive disinformation machine that amplifies Hindutva propaganda through an army of paid employees and volunteers that flood social media with fake news, and through a large-scale use of bots that power harassment and trolling campaigns. Many accounts known to push Hindutva content are now being used to spread disinformation about Hamas while continuing their systematic spreading of islamophobic content.
Indeed, as documented by BOOM, one of India's most reputable fact-checking websites, India is now one of the largest sources for disinformation targeting Palestinians negatively. We call on fellow South Asians in the diaspora to condemn the demonization of Palestinians, and ensure we do not contribute to the spread of disinformation and anti-Muslim hate.
We take inspiration from the women of India’s National Federation of Dalit Women (NFDW) who have declared their solidarity with Palestinians — invoking the “historic oppression” and “systematic dehumanization” that both communities have faced.
We are also in solidarity with the many anti-Zionist Jewish groups and individuals both within Israel and world-wide that are opposing the Israeli state’s attacks on Palestine, and its long standing policy of apartheid against the Palestinian people.
We call on our fellow South Asians and South Asia- led organizations in the United States to reject the “both sides” argument that invisiblizes the experiences and dignity of the Palestinian people. We call for an immediate ceasefire and end to the ongoing siege and genocide in Gaza. We call on the US to stop arming the Israeli apartheid regime with billions’ of dollars worth of weaponry. And finally, We invite our communities to embrace the ways our histories of anti-imperialist struggles are connected so that we may build power and protect our communities against anti-Musilm hate violence and state-sponsored terrorism. Free Palestine.
