My breaker box somehow I think blew a fuse. I can’t access my computer. There’s no power in my room but power In The rest of the apartment.
I would be more upset but then again I was putting off delicate work. Procrastination , killer of dreams
maybe I’ll learn to appreciate it more now that I don’t have access to my work.

I'm around 30 hours into Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and it's SO DAMN GOOD! It's so refreshing to play, having been a Pokemon fan for most of my life. I played Digimon World when I was a kid, but never really got into the series, but now I see how cool Digimon are!

I am gonna miss Habu
Tumblr media
I realized that Time Stranger will be the last Digimon Game, that Habu worked on. Technically he already left that project, though I hope there will still be enough of his vision in that game. Because oh boy, Habu sure did revolutionize Digimon games.
A couple of weeks back I had a talk with someone, who loved Digimon as a kid and teen, but kinda had fallen out of the fandom after that. And they went: "Yeah, I mean, Digimon had always had those great anime, but Pokémon always beat them out in terms of game, didn't they?" And I was like: "Oh, that was before Habu came around."
I mean, I don't want to start a Pokémon vs Digimon debate, but I generally felt that the last two generations of Pokémon really were not as fun as those before. Purple and Scarlet were alright, but man, I loathed Sword and Shield. Meanwhile Digimon during those last 15 years put out banger after banger.
Admittedly, sure. A lot of folks kinda missed out on Digimon Story: Lost Evolution, as it never came out in the west. And technically Habu was only assistent producer on that one. But it already shared one important thing with the games producers under Habu: Clear characters, who were defined as who they were. A lot more story. Especially a story with some twists and turns.
Tumblr media
(I also found that there is apparently by now an English fan translation of Lost Evolution. I guess I am going to try that out at some point, eh?)
Same kinda goes with the Re:Digitize games. Those did never see a release in the west. Though they even clearer show of course the stuff that should become Habu's hallmarks. Most notably the quite sexy Yasuda Suzuhito character design. And while I am usually quite critical of the sexualization of female characters... You know what? These characters are still really well written, so who cares if they are sexy? I am fine with sexy characters.
And Re:Digitize really was a good game. A fun game. It is a pity, that it never got released in English - and that the manga also got kinda cancelled and never finished. :( Because I never had a modded 3DS I never got to play the Decode version of the game, which still makes me kinda sad. (Why the hell was the 3DS region locked? Literally the only Nintendo console to ever do this. It is so lame.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then of course he was also the helm of Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory. I cannot impart on you how big of a hit Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth has been. Digimon is not a big selling video game franchise. This is a franchise that historically celebrated if they managed to sell more than 150 000 units of a game. And Cyber Sleuth? Cyber Sleuth sold ten times that much. 1.5 million units. Yes, sure, compared with western AAA games, this would be seen as not enough to break even. But Digimon is not a AAA franchise, and usually is not anywhere near as expensive in terms of the game budget. We do not know exaclty how high the budget for Cyber Sleuth was, but it was probably not that much, given that they recycled the Digimon models from other games and kept the backgrounds fairly limited.
There is also the very notable paradime shift in both of the Cyber Sleuth games, in that they very clearly were pandering to an older audience. These were first Digimon Games to not get a child-friendly raiting (instead ending with a teen rating). But yeah, again: I cannot stretch enough, how darn successful those two games were.
Tumblr media
Same went with the following game. Digimon World Next Order. This kinda was in the same vein as Re:Digitize once more. Meaning: Basically a somewhat direct sequel to the original Digimon World game. (I will openly admit though, that I never finished this - based on getting stuck in the Japanese version, and so far never buying the english language version.) And this game, too, sold pretty darn well due to the international release. Not Cyber Sleuth well, but still: More than a million copies shipped. That is pretty darn good in terms of Digimon Games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, Survive was not quite as big - but it was still a lot bigger than pretty much any Digimon game before Cyber Sleuth. And be it just because it got directly an international release. As someone who has been in this fandom since 2000, I really cannot explain how darn magical it has felt to get the game on the same day as the Japanese people. I played most of the Digimon games in the Japanese versions. Heck, Cyber Sleuth I preordered from Japan when it came out. (Might I note, that that game came out for the Playstation Vita? A console that was basically a still birth?!) And then Survive really just got this international release all at once.
And while it never sold quite as much as Cyber Sleuth it also did not sell badly. (In December 2022 they announced they had sold 500k - so maybe by now we have reached 600k copies.) And that for a game that was completely different from pretty much any other Digimon Game before and after.
Tumblr media
I am not sure why Habu dropped out of the producer position since. Like, as it his decision, or was it a Bandai decision? Looking at game development right now, I would not be surprised if the logic behind it was something like: "OMG, a Digimon Game made money! Now all Digimon games will make a lot of money!" ... ... ... "This game did not make as much money! Habu, you are at fault!"
But given how long Time Stranger has been in development, there could also have been some development struggles that lead to Habu dropping out of the project. I am not sure. I would love to know though. :/
But yeah, man. Habu really... made Digimon games from something that was very unreliable in terms of quality into a really fun game series. And I hope that whoever takes over after him, will create other good Digimon games. Please?!

Silphymon!! My beloved!! 🐱🦅💕✨
One of my favourites Digimon if not my favourite of all! 💕
Oh yeh, I had the artist freedom to add to them pawpads, I think he looks cuter with them.
I don't remember a lot about Digimon 02 since I was very young but I remember Jogress Evolutions! Silphymon was the coolest for me and here I am!! Hehe. Anyway, I started to rewatch Digimon and I couldn't wait to 02 just to see him in action! >:3c
So gender that I couldn't resist to make a fan art of him/them.
I proudly have one in my Digimon Cyber Sleuth team and I don't have plans to evolve him lmao!

Evolutionary wishlist:
- A way to fly that involves only my body parts and the air baby.
- Exoskeleton, I am so squishy and vulnerable, that has to be fixed. Don't care if we do mechs/body suits for this one as long as they look cool.
- How can we do psychic linking that doesn't turn into social media that you can't escape?
- Tail.
- Definitely a few sharper teeth, and I want to get to change the color and finish.
- Eyes that can always see clearly, and actually we can see colors on the invisible light spectrum now, very cool.
- Fix the inside so it's easier for personal matinence, very annoyed by the obvious planned obsolescence and lack of easy and intuitive ways to exercise my right to repair.
- Easy gender swapping, like fish.
- Sex is actually even better now, but if you're not interested, everything else also feels better to do anyway.
- Expand the color palette of the character designs.
- Lizard tongue.
