also now i kind of hate the fact that the girl came out and talked about it because now everyone hates Benny's actor from removing his face from posts and everything and only keeping matthew kate vanessa and cameron but oh well... plus i know that you said that you wouldn't want negative on your page because of the news but again i'm still gonna be a fan and nobody can change my mind otherwise besides he lives in canada and i live in the us so i'm not going to meet him but i have in my dreams

You are entitled to your opinion, but personally I think its wrong to say that victims of grooming should not tell their stories because the person being accused is someone you like.

A Statement Regarding Recent Events

Hello everyone. We wanted to make a statement regarding recent events to make sure everyone listening is up to date on the current news regarding the cast of My Babysitter's a Vampire (cw for grooming mentions). Actor Atticus Mitchell, who played the character of Benny, has been accused of grooming a young fan when she was 16 and he was 23. They later went on to date when she was 18 and he was 25 (here is a link to the full story). As a podcast, we take the victim's side and support her statement 100%. We felt it was important for people to know that from this point forward we will not be supporting Atticus Mitchell or any of his current work, and we will continue to review the show as a podcast. We agreed that since the show was made while the actor was still a young child before he made such heinous decisions, the series should not be tainted by his later actions. It would be a disservice to anyone else who worked on the series to drop it entirely because of his wrongdoings. We completely understand if you do not feel the same way and we understand if you no longer want to listen to our podcast since we will be discussing the character of Benny throughout our show. I won't be leaving any mbav tags on this post because most people in the fandom have become aware of the news and having to hear about it every day might be emotionally taxing for some members. A new episode will be coming out this Monday instead of Friday for anyone who is still interested, and we will address the situation at the beginning but will continue as usual for the time being. since the news has come out about Benny's actor are you choosing to censor his actual name cause everytime i see posts his name is not included in the tags under also you may hate me for this and that's fine but this is my opinion and how i feel so nobody can change my mind on it but i'm still gonna support Benny's actor despite the allegations cause i love his acting and music and i didn't even see any proof of anything sexual/or rape plus it's not like she was a child she was a teenager

I haven't actually been posting about atticus in recent months, and when it comes to the tags, you may be thinking about bettyweir on tumblr, who has a more organized tag list and does not tag him or the character of Benny because of the allegations (which I fully respect). I'm not as thorough in my tagging, but I do tag the character of Benny when I make a post about him.

another thing i think the reason that Atticus's cast mates aren't unfollowing him on social media is because they don't know what happened and they're not aware of it at least that's what i think also do you think it's bad if someone stays silent on allegations about them or do you think they do cause they're innocent until proven guilty?

Personally I don't know if any previous mbav actors know about the allegations either, I'm assuming atticus himself is not addressing it because the information is still pretty unknown to most people who like his work/support him still. The video the victim made has not become well circulated online so a lot of people seem to still be unaware. I personally choose to believe the victims claims in situations like this because at the end of the day, someone telling their story have nothing to gain from the publicity by letting the truth be known, and have everything to lose by associating themselves with such topics. I recommend you educate yourself on the history of movements before sending such statements into my inbox.
