Nettles is not cut out but she's not going to be in S2 cause they're slowing a lot the series. Season 2 won't have Gullet's battle and the take of King Landing either, cause Daemon is going to be at Harrenhal, except when he ots with Mysaria Blood and Cheese in King Landing, but that happens in episode 1, after that he's the whole season at Harrenhal, and only by the end of ep 7 will meet Oscar Tully and Nyra is reaching him there in episode 8. It means they're not concluding the season with the take of King Landing, but much earlier, so it does make sense that Nettles is pushed to S3, cause she plays major role in Gullet's battle, Maidenpool arc and Daemon's plotline and nothing of this is happening in S2. About the sowing, they can show that white guy trying to claim Sheepstealer and fails, so after that Sheepstealer is going to be wild dragon around and Nettles will claim him not cause of the sowing but because is finding him randomly, feeding him cause she has no afraid and Sheepstealer will choose her as her rider. They can show that in S3, before she joins first Jace and later Daemon. I also think that considering they're purposely slowing down the series, season 3 will have Gullet and King Landing and S4 Maidenpool, God's eye and the conclusion of the Dance. 4 seasons as George wanted.

I agree that she hasn’t been cut from the show, but if she’s cut from this season, slowing things down still isn’t a good excuse. Not when they have time to include every other dragonseed, expand their plots, and create pointless plots for a random character that is a show creation (who shouldn’t even be there).

Nettles isn’t your run-of-the-mill character. She might be a secondary character, but she’s equally if not more important than Addam(who they are making too big of a deal about when his claiming of Seasmoke was not that remarkable). She’s way more important than Ulf and Hugh who are allegedly getting additional scenes even though they could’ve been combined since they serve the same purpose.

There is no good excuse to cut her from season two. Yes, the Battle of the Gullet doesn’t happen until s3, and Silver Denys is there, but she’s there before the battle like all the rest of the dragonseeds that are being included.

They don’t have to show her claiming Sheepstealer (yes it does take her a while to claim him), but they can show her visiting and observing him.

Or just show how her life is as a homeless orphan and how she longs for a better life. The bottom line is that there are plenty of ways in which they could include her this season. Hell, this show has no problem making sh*t up for irrelevant’s so they can definitely find something for Netty to do.

The only reason why she could potentially be cut from this season is misogynoir and the show not considering her series player in comparison to her male and/or white counterparts. At this point, it’s whatever and the show obviously is going to do what they want, but I’m not buying these arguments and I’m sick of this fandom acting as if she’s irrelevant or what is being done is okay. It’s not.

Nettles is a final girl. She’s in every version of the dance where plenty of others who are being included in this season are not. The narrative doesn’t make sense without her, but no one gives a f*ck.

They say it’s fine that she’s cut, racebent, replaced, whatever because she doesn’t look like them. No disrespect anon, but it is absolutely heartbreaking to see what is happening. Nettles is an amazing important character and she shouldn’t be pushed back another season when everyone else is being included.

I don't want to stir up discourse/harassment again, but I'm very curious, what was the Lucia Franko situation?

I'm going to put this under a cut because she's notoriously litigious and scans the net for people talking about her.

It is well known that she wrote a romance series romanticizing an affair between a 16-year-old gymnast and her 30+ coach.

It caused a bit of a shit storm on Twitter when Romancelandia as a community became more aware of it. I was in a group discussion on Twitter where people were saying she needed to not file it under romance or young adult romance (which she had done, presumably because YA romance is a HUGE earner) because it didn't belong in either genre. There was also some talk about whether or not she was in breach of Amazon TOS.

I posted maybe one thing in that whole convo, agreeing that she needed to move her stuff into dark romance and out of a genre frequented by minors because while fandom is a free for all, professional publishing has standards and restrictions we all need to abide by.

To this day, I do not know if it was her or her fans acting on their own, but they must have looked at that group, decided I was the smallest fish there based on my Twitter following, and decided to try and dive bomb my reviews and attack my social media, primarily my Facebook which is where certain types of romance authors reign supreme and you can pretty much ruin someone's career if you're able to destroy their FB standing.

Unfortunately for them, I am not a Facebook romance writer. I am a Tumblr romance writer, so it was not unlike bringing a knife to a nuclear orbital strike. They got blown clean out of the water, and it caused quite a few people to go, "who the fuck was that?!" while I slithered back beneath the surface like some feral Tumblr leviathan.

At this time, LF was also actively threatening to sue Scarlet Parish over factually documenting where she was in breach of Amazon's TOS. She was sending her legal papers and threatening her livelihood. She has since repeated this pattern when people point out facts that she used to brag about as selling points but now considers slander.

In the end, she brought so much attention to the whole thing herself that it resulted in the books being reported to Amazon, who did find them to be in breach of their TOS and removed them

LF has since aged up her character to the legal age of consent and republished them on Amazon, which is fine; she's no longer in breach of TOS. But what isn't fine is that she continues to threaten legal action against anyone who points out that her original character was underage and she was in the wrong genre listings and still puts herself in the YA categories a lot of the time when her content is supposedly exclusively for adults.

Anyway, apparently, me pointing this out when asked about her is the same as being pro-censorship 🤡

I think I read a while back somewhere that Luz has some type of guilt complex. Which we've seen from the end of season 1 to beginning of s2 ish. In which she probably blames herself for a lot of bad things that has occurred already and this kid will risk everything to correct it:

• Getting expelled with Gus and Willow and literally becomes a dummy to test out The Blights dangerous creations jsut so THEY (not including her) can get back to Hexside?

• Eda getting captured in s1 and almost getting her petrified that Luz risks her only way home and her whole life to save her??

• Remember that scene where she overheard Eda talking to Lily about them cutting back on apple blood for Luz but she took it in a wrong way believing shes a burden so this fuckin kid literally goes on a suicide mission just to get some snails and make it up to them??

Theres probably more but.. Like Luz has a horrible way of taking everything that happens and blaming it on herself. So after that revelation in Hollow minds? It probably the heaviest, biggest, most painful fucking slap on the face. Coz now she has herself to blame for E V E R Y wild witch that has suffered in the hands of Belos through the years. You guys have to understand, this 14 year old kid is most probably thinking this. Try and wrap your head around that.

So with all this discourse about cutting Nettles off the show, I have to say that by making Rhaenyra the main protagonist of the show, these writers shot themselves in the foot.

Like with the Aegon situation, Nettles is being cut off to make Rhaenyra look better. Because the show does everything to make her look good, characters are getting messed up.

If they do cut Nettles off, that they prove that they care about whitewashing their fave Nyra and sidelining yet another black woman - the only in-canon black woman. It's insane.

Someone called this show House of the Rhaenyra and they couldn’t be more right. If you really think about it about a good 75% of the problems with this show relate to catering to Miss Maegor and trying to make her into the ultimate girl boss victim of the evil men around her.

That being said, I don’t think Nettles is actually cut(s2 maybe, but she’ll be there s3). I don’t even think the showrunners are stupid enough to cut her completely from the show.

To be honest I think that they put that out specifically to test out the waters and see how much backlash they’d face if they did cut her. However, the fact that we are having this conversation and the fact that her demented racist stans are having a ball right now over this news really shows how much this show appears to center around Missy Anne and said demented racist stans.
