Serge Gainsbourg has an intriguing opus that might have a few misses thanks to him willing to go for broke more often than the majority of his peers. That's why finished his career with You're Under Arrest, straying too much to a self-parody without being sure how intentional the latter is. The album resembles someone getting the right notes and fumbling them to make you laugh, yet not all jokes land. Sure, many are hilarious, such as his NC-17 Bryan Ferry cosplay on the link, but they can veer into some territories he can't completely control. Still, one notices he didn't intend this to be his final statement. There appeared to be a promise of more to follow, which causes me to ask – what popular genre would he have tackled next? Grunge? Oh, I think we would like to hear that.

“Is she pretty?” “Yeah… He’s quite the looker… pretty like the sun”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
————————˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖☀︎︎˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖-———————
In which Steve comes to Darry to talk about his new crush. And maybe to ask for a few pointers…
Steve being slightly clueless at soda’s infatuation with him
Mutual pining (since they were like 7 but it doesn’t really say in the story)
Slightly implied parental/maybe older sibling figure Darry :P
Stevepop <<33
Moon + sun <3
————————˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖☀︎︎˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖-———————
“What’d you need Steve? I mean.. why’d you need to talk to me all private like without the gang knowing”
“Because if the gang knew they’d try and snoop, you know how they are. A bunch of nosey pricks”
Steve said lightheartedly, then turning serious and looking up at Darry as Darry sat on his bed in front of him. Steve pulled the chair from the desk next to him and sat in front of Darry.
“So… uhm…. I….”
Steve pov:
I didn’t know why I was stuttering so much all of a sudden, I already knew what I was gon’ say and I already knew that I had to switch out every ‘He’ with a ‘she’… so I didn’t know why I was so nervous. Maybe it was that fact I was talking to my best friend’s older brother about my crush on my best friend but I dunno. I had gotten myself all lost in my thoughts when I was interrupted by him saying—
“Well you gon’ spit it out or not kid?”
“R-right- yeah- uhm… so… I just wanted to talk… yknow?… t-there’s uhm… this person… that I like… And to uhm… ask some advice about like…. Gift givin’ n stuff….”
Darry gave a smile to me, it was real sweet. I always liked it when Darry smiled at me, reminded me a bit of my ma… golly do I miss her.. I can’t remember much about her other than her smile and that I really miss her. Whenever I try to ask about her to my old man he either just takes another drink of beer and ignores me entirely or starts yelling at me till he gets himself mad enough to start wailing on me.
“What do you wanna say about her, kid?”
He said as he put a hand on my shoulder and smiled at me, he then leaned back onto the mattress and stared at me with a smile as he waited for me to speak. I sat for a moment trying to wrangle my scattered thoughts in my head
“W-well shoot I don’t even know where to start… I-i mean she’s just so— amazing!!”
“Alright, alright, slow it down, kid.”
“Ok… uhm… what do you wanna know?”
“Well firstly is she a soc or a grease? Or is she like some kind of hippie or somethin’?”
“She’s a grease, but she ain’t like all the other greaser girls… she’s got that… certain charm… yknow?…. I just can’t explain it…. Yknow? She’s just… magical…”
“Is she pretty?”
“Yeah… He’s quite the looker… pretty like the sun… Yknow those sunsets that pony never shuts his trap about…? I looked at it a few days ago and it reminded me of him…”
Darry pov:
I went silent as he looked at Steve slightly wide eyed, Steve’s mind must’ve wandered to think of his little crush since he was just staring into space with this dopey look on his face, he hadn’t realized what he had said aparantly.
“Him….?”
“….uhm….”
“Well- uh- I- I slipped up, I-i said the wrong word yknow….?”
“Is he in the gang? By any chance?”
“….”
“I’ll take that as a yes”
I said with a smile, I never did see Steve so nervous in my whole life.
3rd person:
Steve silently fiddled with his hands, ready for a lecture or a hit or anything. He had told his dad about this once when he was younger, he had a crush on soda since he was 7. When he told his dad he said he liked a boy and his dad beat him so hard his nose bled and he had bruises all over. He was so used to being beaten that the thought that Darry wasn’t gonna hit him didn’t even cross his mind. Steve was surprised when Darry just put a hand on his shoulder
“Just talk to him, be yourself… That’s all you can really do. Maybe ask ‘im what he likes or just see what he likes and give him something relating to that”
Darry said with a gentle smile, another smile that reminded him of his mom. Darry stood up and hugged Steve gentle before leaving. Steve just watched him silently, he had to sit for a second to compute what Darry was saying. Be himself?? When did broads ever like it when he was just being himself? I mean whenever he was out with a broad and he’d start prattling about cars they always just watched uninterested. That’s all he really talked about. Steve loved cars, he always did. Fixing up a pretty soc car or reading books about cars… he loved them so much. But nobody ever wanted to hear about them so he was honestly starting to like them less and less. But at the same time… He wasn’t a broad. He was his best friend. His best friend who also loved cars, albeit not as much as him but he still loved to hear Steve talking about it. He’d just sit there and rest his cheek in his hand and watch Steve as he talked and talked about cars. Giggling randomly and blushing a bit at Steve. Now that Steve thought about it that’s how broads would look at him and giggle when they were really feeling him.. He thought that was a little suspicious but it was whatever. This guy wouldn’t realize soda was in love with him if it was a metal pole and hit him in the face 27 times.
————————˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖☀︎︎˖⁺‧₊˚☀︎︎˚₊‧⁺˖-———————
It had been a week since Darry and Steve’s interaction, he slowly noticed that Steve and Soda had been going places together a lot more than usual, and that’s saying something since they were practically attached to the hip 24/7. Darry watched from afar as the two started basically going on dates disguised as hang outs. And eventually, a month later, he caught them kissing on the couch when they thought nobody was home. He never told anyone tho, he just assured them that their secret was safe with him and just to go to soda’s room cause he didn’t wanna watch his kid brother swap spit with one of their mutual friends. It was pretty embarrassing for both of the love birds but whenever pony would stay over at curly’s you bet Steve was over there with Sodapop filling the empty space in his bed.

Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
I must be completely fair in my review of Escape Plan: The Extractors by admitting I saw it by mistake. I thought I had selected the first movie on my player, not the third. If this picture redeems itself by completing nuanced character arcs or tying up previously-introduced loose ends in a way that pleases fans, I can’t say. What I can tell you is how forced a sequel this feels. Did this movie begin as something completely different? Was it tweaked in post-production to trick audiences into watching it? Sure feels that way.
Daya Zhang (Malese Jow) is kidnapped by mercenaries. Her bodyguard (Harry Shum, Jr.) seeks security expert Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) for help. Daya is indirectly familiar to Breslin. He knows her lover and former bodyguard, Shen Lo (Max Zhang). The kidnapper is a familiar face from Breslin’s past as well: Lester Clark, Jr. (Devon Sawa) is the son of Breslin’s corrupt ex-business partner. He wants revenge for his daddy’s death and the captured heiress is just the thing to lure Breslin into a trap.
It takes a long time for what Escape Plan 3 is actually about to become clear. We have… how many heroes? There’s Daya’s current bodyguard and her former bodyguard. Why they want to save the woman is pretty straightforward. Breslin's name was on the flash drive left behind when Daya was kidnapped so obviously, he's invested too. As for the villain, Lester Jr. wants money. That's why you kidnap people - at least, most of the time. Eventually, it’s revealed Lester Jr. doesn’t actually care about any ransom. He just wants Ray to come and face him. See what I mean about two random plots stitched together? This is made more obvious when Lester Jr. kidnaps Abigail (Jaime King), Breslin’s girlfriend 37 years his junior. Breslin has never met Daya before. If he gets to her before the kung-fu bodyguards do, she’ll have no idea what’s going on.
While I haven't seen Escape Plan, I know the premise from the trailer. This is NOTHING like it. There’s no prison to escape from, unless you count Lester Jr.’s base of operations: a dank, rusty, run-down prison with no guards - but inmates in every cell. It’s hard to believe this place would have running water, much less an internet connection, which makes a scene in which the baddies take one of Daya’s employees, hand him a laptop and instruct him to hack into her family’s financial account particularly hilarious. And they just leave him in the room alone! He could be doing anything on that computer!
None of the film's problems feel as brutal as the camerawork and direction. Any potentially exciting scenes are transmogrified into eyeball garbage by the confusing camerawork. You can’t tell what’s going on half the time and the editing makes it unclear whose objectives are what. You’re bored, just hoping this catastrophe will end soon. Suddenly, there’s a big fight. You think the movie’s over. Escape Plan 3 has you fooled. That guy who just died? It wasn't the main boss. It was some henchman the camera made you think was important… by accident!
I once dated a woman whose father would watch any movie starring Steven Seagal. He didn't care that the former action star hasn’t had a movie worth mentioning since 1992. He was a fan and would make it a priority to watch any Steven Seagal movie. If you’re that sort of person, then Escape Plan: The Extractors practically has your name on it. Otherwise, this is a movie you’ll be unsure actually exists even after having finished it. (March 27, 2020)

I promised a rumble rundown, so that’s what I’m gonna do. Let’s go🙏 also here's the yt vid i used lol
youtube
0:14-0:17
Tumblr media
Paul says, “Hello, Darrel. Long time, no see” and then immediately starts checking him out with that upside down smile, ik what u think abt 👁️👁️
0:24-0:27
Tumblr media
“I’ll take you” yeah Paul I’m sure u will 🙄 Darry’s cold af w the staredown tho, it’s unfortunate that Pony and Soda have do a full head turn to look at each other like “IKKK he ain’t j said that”
0:27-0:31
Tumblr media
DALLAS MY GLORIOUS KING ARRIVES,, shirtless??? And the crowd goes mild‼️ Pony also gets popped in the face and down he goes, it was so good that he was here for just a little bit, everyone say bye now bc the next time he shows up in the fight u won’t even know it’s him I’m deadass
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
0:48-0:55
Soda is ripping into this guy right, my baby’s a champion!! And then gets up and kinda… walks past Steve getting his ass beat lmao. He even puts his hand on Steve’s shoulder to steady himself as he goes by😭
Tumblr media
He just misses the mean double gut punch Steve tanks like the unit he is, because Steve GRABS THIS MAN’S PUNCH and RIPS one across his face, it was beautiful. Masterclass in the ring I’m afraid
0:56-0:58
Okay. I need to give yall the play by play for this single two-second sequence because it was genuinely the greatest clip of cinema I’ve ever seen in my life.
Tumblr media
Paul’s got Darry out of frame and he’s confident, dare I say cocky. He’s doing the universal hand signals for “Cmon, hit me bro.”
And I’m gonna say this next part softly. Lean in and listen to me:
When I tell u that Darry clocks Paul in the face, I don’t mean he just clocks Paul in the face. Darry rises like a phoenix from the ashes and swings so hard that everyone around him can feel the aftershocks. Paul has just experienced the equivalent of a steel boxing glove to the dome. Teeth are flying. Paul will have no recollection of this moment for the rest of his life. Take a look at this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alr now we back up because YOU CAN SEEEE THE MOMENT OF REALIZATION. This man starts BAILING. The minute Darry spins back, Paul’s got bug eyes, all “Hold up. Wait a minute. He really ‘bout to clock my shit.” He did not want that smoke NEARLY as much as he thought he did, and ykw? I don’t blame him 🤷‍♀️
Letting yall know that I had to go back and slow down the playback speed so that I could bask in the glory that is Darrel Curtis’s behemoth of a punch. Geologists are losing their minds wondering how volcanoes are erupting and mountains are shifting, unaware of what just happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
1:00-1:03
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dally bitch slapping a dude is a great way to kick off the one-minute mark, and a good kick to the ribs just for funsies ig. U go girl🫶
1:04-1:07
Tumblr media
Hottest Two-Bit has ever looked sorry
1:19-1:21
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alr Dally is literally picking people up and WWE rocking their shit as he slams them to the ground. That kid was dropped neck first. How did Pony not have to write a sequel.
1:22-1:24
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just an entire sequence dedicated to Soda mewing even as he gets bitched in the face. It’s alr tho, he got his get back
1:47-1:49
Tumblr media
Istg I’m not tripping, u listen and u can hear Pony screaming for Darry yall I thought this was supposed to be a good time, I’m actually sobbing
1:55-2:01
Tumblr media
STEVE CLUTCHES UP??? DEADASSSS that was the CLEANEST three-shot KO I’ve ever seen, then he body flips the guy behind him??? I WASN’T FAMILIAR W UR GAME, RANDLE 🙏
2:09-2:15
The Socs are kind of getting ready to retreat at this point but rq we gotta check in on the exes, Paul’s getting clowned on again lmfao.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man tried to kick Darry, then when Darry’s got his foot and is getting ready to spin him like that pigskin, he’s PULLING on Darry’s HAIR??? Man, just leave 😭 ur cooked. And the last time we see him, he’s CRAWLING AWAY😭😭 at least STAND UP
2:24-2:27
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pony’s getting washed in a 6v1 it ain’t his fault this time, bless up. Luckily my goat Darrel Shaynne Curtis Jr. pulls up and literally starts throwing bodies. Absolutely spectacular that I get to live in the same lifetime as this movie.
2:30-2:32
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darry’s asking, “Ponyboy, you okay?” and some NOBODY tries to grab Darry’s shoulders. Who do u think u are???
3:35-3:45
Tumblr media
Greasers get the W👏
So in conclusion I think we can all agree that if u are locked in an iso with Darry, just offer up ur cheek and get it over w. Ur not getting the dub. Roll down ur sleeves and go home, ur benched.
Sorry this is messy af, I'm just having fun rn LMFAO

New Town Tavern, 600 Jackson Ave, Las Vegas, in 1967. Photo by Clinton Wright. One of the oldest clubs in Las Vegas, destroyed by fire 10/15/2023.
Town Tavern was opened Jul. ‘55 by owners Marie and Earl Turmon, locals who lived at nearby 708 Madison. In its heyday of the late 50s the 24-hour bar, casino, and coffee shop was central to Westside’s nightlife scene. After the closure of the Moulin Rouge in Fall ’55, Town Tavern became the main Westside destination for black performers who were headlining the segregated Strip hotels.
Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr, Cab Calloway, Arthur Lee Simpkins, Bob Bailey, Dorothy Dandridge, and the Ink Spots all performed in a single night during an NAACP cocktail party in Dec. '55. Review-Journal columnist Forrest Duke wrote of another night when, “Pearl Bailey and her Flamingo gang sashayed over to Earl Turmon’s Town Tavern Wednesday night, and the joint was, to put it rather mildly, jumping.” Another columnist’s blurb describes an employee’s going-away party with music by jazz musicians Christine Chatman (singer, piano), Al Morgan (bass), Chuck Hampton (drums), and Bob Bailey as emcee, “there with his lovely wife Anna who dances in the Pearl Bailey’s Flamingo show.”
The club became “New” Town Tavern in late ’59 and operated more or less continually until 2013. Westside's nightlife scene deteriorated in the 60s – the unplanned byproduct of integration was the decline in black gaming establishments, but Town Tavern remained. Florence Elmore owned the club in '70-71. Danny Curtis & Elijah Green bought the club in '71; Green was still the owner in the 80s, renovating and enlarging the club after a fire in '81. In the 90s it became “Ultra New” Town Tavern and continued operated under this name until closing.
Town Tavern originally had a top hat-shaped sign. Its second sign with "Town Tavern" in a ribbon and "Casino" in a circle, was installed in the early 60s and remained until 2023. In 2016 the words "Town Tavern" were replaced with "Tokyo" for a casino which ultimately never opened. The sign was removed from the building on 8/16/2023.

More effort is made to remember so memories can be more long form with a little more deterioration in quality. The overall personal mood is generally lower than the first stage and it a point before confusion starts setting in.

Here we are presented with some of the last coherent memories before confusion fully rolls in and the grey mists form and fade away. Finest moments have been remembered, the musical flow in places is more confused and tangled. As we progress some singular memories become more disturbed, isolated, broken and distant. These are the last embers of awareness before we enter the post awareness stages.

Curtis just told me that his friend's mom is newly registered to vote. "In all her 68 years, this is the first time she's voting, just so she can vote against the Orange Shit Gibbon."
And I guess I could just be glad she's finally on board, better late than never, but s e r i o u s l y ? Where the fuck was she in 2016? It's not like he's changed. He was like this then.
Imagine being a teenager during the Vietnam War and NOT voting. Imagine being alive when Martin Luther King Jr was murdered and NOT VOTING. Ever. Just being like, Nah, I'm good. This isn't my problem. Imagine being a woman watching the Equal Rights Amendment die and NOT VOTING.
Ooooookay. So this is your fault, then, I see, I see. If you would have voted against Trump in 2016, but didn't vote at all, this is YOUR FAULT.
