❤️ Valentine’s Day seems like an appropriate time to announce this on my professional page- on Saturday, a week ago, my partner Alex asked me to marry him! He’d sneakily told my family his plans the night before, since they were flying in from Canberra so we could all go see Cursed Child together that afternoon. They cheekily snapped a few photos then popped out of the bushes to congratulate us when I said yes (I still don’t know where my sister was hiding, or how we didn’t spot her 😂) ⚡️Seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on stage has been a dream of mine ever since it was announced- and it was a truly magical experience. The practical magical effects were stunning, and the use of costume was sublime. All departments did a wonderful job. But I’m sorry to say that despite my utter geekery about the wizarding world, it’s still the second most magical thing to happen to me that day... the first was seeing Alex kneeling at my feet, tearing up as he tried to express what having me in his life means to him. Heyyy was the last performance more emotional than other ones. I mean overall all the characters? Did it show that they were performing to the last time? Much love💗

It was extremely emotional. Paula cried all throughout. She had to stop and compose herself for "just like that, most of the people in this room will be gone." A lot of ensemble members were in tears at the start of the show, especially our Bane, Iopu Auva'a. Nyx was crying a lot - their face scrunching up with tears as they were pulled away after the scene with Delphi before the library scene. They and Sean cried so much in "edge of the forest" as they looked up at the stained glass windows and said "you're my best friend" and truly meant it. Nyx had to pause and put their face in their hands during library scene, with Sean reaching a hand out and almost stepping forward to comfort them, before stopping as it's not in the blocking for them to comfort Scorpius at that part of the scene. But they kept nudging them and giving them encouraging smiles once they sat down and talked. They're such a supportive duo. Paula cried in the first AU, during the classroom scene? She's always emotional in that scene, but she kept looking at Sean like her heart was breaking and they kept looking back at her. I loved that scene and the way they did it - Hermione, horribly alone, and Albus, desperate to reach out. Lucy was a wreck in Saint Jeromes. Everyone was crying during Lily and James. Sean's arms are usually pinned to their sides for the staircase hug, but this time they reached up and hugged Nyx back. They gave each other one last wave and it was so emotional. There were a lot of tears in A Nice Day and they seemed to just... take the scene slowly. Savouring each moment. Everyone was crying at curtain call. I was sobbing. It was just... Yeah. I'm heartbroken. I can't believe how short their run was, and I'm so angry that they Sean and Nyx never got the run they deserved or the attention they deserved. I'm angry that CursedChildAus refused their requests to make content for the social media. I'm angry that we had a trans Albus and Scorpius who were the most incredible, supportive, loving pair this show had seen and they only had more or less than five months together. But when I think about them, and I think about cast change, and I think about how theatre is full of goodbyes like this - I think about a poem. "here is the deepest secret nobody knows/(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud/and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows/higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)/and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart/i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)".
