1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 17, 22, 23!
Thank you so so much, dear!
1. Fourteen and a half (currently reading the fifteenth) and that's amazing! One of the really really few positive things about this year is the fact I managed to regain a good reading pace and most important after years I once again found the love and passion for it.
2. Yes I did! I reread Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie as it passed so much time since I first read it and, AND because I thought it could have been a good idea to refresh my memory in preparation for the incoming new adaptation...yeah, I wished. But anyway it was so good and way better than I remembered.
3. Oooh that's so hard! I actually enjoyed them all but if I must pick those which have stricken me the most I'd say : "The Dogs of Riga" and "The White Lioness" by Henning Mankell, "the Murder of Roger Ackroyd" and the very "Death on the Nile" by Agatha Christie and King Lear by William Shakespeare.
4. Yes, actually. A part from rediscovering Agatha Christie who I barely approached to in my teens I got to know Henning Mankell with the Wallander series and it was just pure love from the very first chapter. I immediately felt a connection both with the main character and the books themselves. Mankell writing just speaks to my heart and each time a finished reading I found myself in tears and it's so rare for that to happen. Oh and also this year I fell deeply in love with Shakespeare in general. Not a new author but still.
6. Yeah I wished I could get a copy of Follett's last book "the Morning and the Evening", but I have so many things to read at the moment (not just for pleasure unfortunately) and also it's still too expensive for my taste.
17. As I said Wallander series by Mankell keeps surprising me book after book, they inevitably leave a mark each time. Particularly, my favourite one so far is "the White Lioness" for the story itself but also for the technical structure of it. Probably it surprised me so much because I had already seen the relative episode of the bbc tv series and it was the only one that didn't quite convinced me, it felt lacking. Then I found out how rich the source material actually was and it was flabbergasting.
22. As far as this year is concerned, probably "The Man who Laughs" by Victor Hugo, the one I'm currently reading. Long yes but definitely more flowing than "Les miserables".
23. A week I'd say, can't remember which book tho. But if we talk about my absolute fastest time definitely the sole afternoon it took me to read "A Study in Red" by Conan Doyle.

Happy Friday! Only two more weeks until I head home for the Christmas holiday. While I am filled with holiday cheer (and over excitement), I’ve been happily plowing my way through my December TBR. I managed to finish three books this week between Christmas parties, lunches, wrapping, and decorating. I’m kind of impressed with myself.
What I read
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (audiobook)
The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
So this was a great week for reading, and I feel like I need to talk about each book. I finally managed to finish The Way of Kings as part of my Stormlight Archives reread. It’s a 42-hour long audiobook! The last couple of hours I was staring into space, completely hypnotised. He has such a way with endings, despite it being the first in a long series. Words of Radiance is on deck, then I can read my physical copy of Oathbringer!
I also read two books off my December TBR. The Naked Sun is actually a book I received for Christmas last year (remember when I made the resolution to read all my Christmas books before the end of 2017? Ha.) It is the second of Asimov’s Robot novels and I absolutely loved it. I read Caves of Steel earlier this year, in fact I think it was the first review I wrote, and really enjoyed it, but The Naked Sun was even better. Baley’s character arc continues and it’s just amazing.
I also read Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, one of the most highly anticipated books of the year. I have a love-hate relationship with Green (I loved The Fault in Our Stars, I hated Looking for Alaska), so I was curious to see what I’d think about this one. It’s interesting because I didn’t think it was a particularly good book, but his depiction of mental illness is incredible. I’ll be reviewing it soon!
Books I’m currently reading
Strange Weather by Joe Hill
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
My main focus right now is Strange Weather, which I am enjoying. It consists of four short horror novels — I’m currently reading the second one. The stories are incredibly gripping so far! I’ve never read anything by Joe Hill before, so I am not completely sure what to expect.
I’m flagging a little on The Girl in the Tower, but plan to pick that back up this weekend. Otherwise, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is incredibly fun so far! I do love Poirot.
Books I bought
None! Ha! Look at my willpower!
Book post!
Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu
I am SO excited to have received Batman: Nightwalker! I’ve been a huge Batman fan ever since I was little, so the fact that there’s a novel is so exciting. I’m planning to read Wonder Woman first because series, but it’s really hard to keep my hands off this book.
In other news, I’ve been slowly recovering from a nasty cold and trying to keep up the Christmas spirit! The UK takes Christmas VERY seriously and there’s so much going on. I’m really looking forward to the holidays so I can relax, read, and hang out with my family!
The most noble of Christmas cats.
That’s it for this week! What have you been reading? What’s in your TBR pile? Let me know!
