Hamas didn’t invade Israel on Oct. 7 for its amusement. The barbaric sneak attack is a part of the pogrom intended to wipe out the Jewish state. It was a crime against humanity, and not just because of its savagery. We would all be worse off if Israel ceased to exist. The same cannot be said for Islamic terrorists.
Israel’s contributions to the modern world are momentous. When not dodging bullets, rockets, and homicide bombers, Israelis have since 1948 developed:
Copaxone and Rebif, drugs that treat multiple sclerosis, and Exelon, which treats mild to moderate dementia in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients.
The PillCam, “a minimally invasive ingestible camera in a capsule that allows visualization of the small bowel.”
The water desalination process.
The Sniffphone, “that can actually ‘sniff out’ diseases.”
And SpineAssist, “the first-ever spine robot” that has the “ability to provide real-time intraoperative navigation.”
The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, responsible for some of the inventions listed above, has also produced diabetes and flu vaccines, is using T-cells to treat damaged spines, and is a pioneer in industrial — and medical — uses nano materials.
Other impactful Israeli products include drip irrigation, a revolutionary microprocessor called the 8088, the NIR heart stent, voice-over-internet protocol, the USB flash drive, the Waze navigation app, ReWalk, “a commercial bionic walking assistance system,” and “the first commercially viable firewall software.”
Our own security has benefited from Israel’s labor and work ethic.
“Many Israeli innovations are present in upgrades to U.S. Air Force fighters and Army equipment,” says the international law firm Smith, Gambrell & Russell. One important advance in particular is the helmet-mounted display system for the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
So we have a country of 9.23 million, mostly desert, that is only 75 years old, is “surrounded by enemies” and in a constant state of war, which has “no natural resources,” yet “produces more start-up companies on a per capita basis than large, peaceful, and stable nations and regions like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada, and all of Europe.” It is the only nation outside of the U.S. that Warren Buffet invests in.
Have the Palestinians or Hamas, currently at war with Israel, done anything that compares to what the Israelis have achieved? More broadly, beyond the Allahista terrorist groups, what has Islam contributed to the modern world?
Not much.
Since 1901, Jews, who total 0.2% of the world’s population, have won 189 Nobel prizes for physics, medicine, chemistry and economics. Over that same period, Muslims, who make up nearly a quarter of the global population, have won four.
If it seems as Islamic groups, Hamas and Hezbollah prominent among them, are more interested in spreading nihilism, committing atrocities, and destroying civilization than making the world a better place, well, then there’s a good reason for it. That is exactly what the heroes of an increasingly large number foolish Westerners are aiming for.
Meanwhile, Israelis see themselves “as having a role in the world to repair the world,” says Chemi Peres, managing partner and co-founder of the venture capital firm Pitango, chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, and son of the late Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres.
“We call it tikkun olam, and here at the Peres Center we have a mission statement, which is to introduce innovation and new ideas and new technologies, not only for ourselves but to solve the problems of the world.”
Islam is part of that world, but too many of its adherents live to do just the opposite.

If the OPM manga were to be a 'better-drawn' webcomic, what would have to change?
A thought experiment.
The OPM manga currently consists of 190 main chapters + 35 extra chapters, not including specials like 'Catch and Smash', the Christmas specials, or polls. So that's a total of 215 chapters telling us something about the story.
It's based on the webcomic, so what'd have to change?
Short answer: more than you think.
Tumblr media
First, you have to lose all the bonus chapters. (-35 chapters, 190 left)
Then you have to lose chapter 20, 'Rumors' even though it's foreshadowing for the Monster Association arc. (-1 chapter, 189 left)
Then you have to lose the bits of the Boros fight where he kicks Saitama to the Moon. (no change to chapter count)
You have to lose the entirety of Genos fighting G4 (just skip from the beginning to the end, where he brings the bits to Dr Kuseno). And you have to fix his damage. (no change to chapter count)
You have to lose Charanko taking on Garou, and pretty much everything from chapter 48 all the way to chapter 80. (-32 chapters, 157 left)
You have to redact out the martial artists in chapter 80, and also, it's awkward to explain why Genos has a new build but you can handwave it as being the rebuild after he asked Dr Kuseno to improve his parts. Yes, you're lying, but you've already started, might as well continue. Skip straight to Death Gatling and his posse surrounding the hut. Difficult to explain why he's brought friends, but again, handwave it as the heroes being on notice about Garou. (no change to chapter count)
You really have no choice but to keep the next couple of chapters in, although you could rip out most of chapter 83, so that Genos and Garou go from glaring at each other to Bang kicking the heck out of Garou. (no change to chapter count)
Sadly, Senior Centipede is already dead, so you have a bit of a problem. A clever way to spin this might be to edit things so it looks like the monsters ambushing the heroes gave the necessary distraction for Phoenixman to pounce, even though the heroes were making literal mincemeat of them. Then you can have Bang, Bomb, and Genos explain what happened back at Saitama's place to Fubuki, with no explanation of how they got back, just as in the webcomic. There! Now we've gotten rid of Elder Centipede! And Saitama coming out to rescue. And his giving that big a shit about Genos. Phew! You lack shame and integrity but we already knew that. (no change to chapter count)
Alright, the aftermath. The executive meeting meeting has to be kept. This Narinki guy is rather annoying, let's cut him out. I guess there's no harm in having the heroes gather. And Fubuki going to Saitama's place is okay as that's how you'll get around cutting out Elder Centipede, by having her hear what happened on the battlefield. Saitama can storm out as usual. Just remember to remove the mercenaries. (no change to chapter count)
Garou wakes up, but he doesn't meet the mercenaries. Goes to dinner, dashes and dines. You can keep Fubuki and Saitama dashing-and-dining on her. Tareo meeting Garou, okay too... his fighting the monsters, okay. It's all right until chapter 89. (no change to chapter count)
You have to lose Kuseno coming around. It's just lucky Saitama came across this extra, free meat (he won't admit it's from a monster). You have to lose Child Emperor and Sekingar talking. Indeed, lose everything about the support heroes. Makes chapters 93 and 94 difficult, but you'll manage. (no change to chapter count)
Come to that, lose Orochi and Garou fighting. Gyoro-Gyoro distracts Garou and throws him into a wall. You can keep Saitama going to look for the noise. (no change to chapter count but boy is chapter 92 strange).
Lose everything after Phoenixman being stabbed by Child Emperor and pick up again once Zombieman fights Vampire, then skip to Amai Mask fighting Do-S (but only the original version, also skip the disciples meeting her and edit out the mercenaries), and then skip to the disciples fighting Devil Long Hair. Pretend the mercenaries don't exist. Pretend that Machine God G5 doesn't exist. Sub in the originally-drawn fight with Evil Natural Water as well. (-4 chapters, 153 left)
Lose Child Emperor and Saitama coming to the surface, also lose Puri Puri and Nyan. Keep Pig God and Superalloy Darkshine. Keep Atomic's and Zombiemans' very bad encounters with the cadre. Already mentioned how to hack up the disciples meeting Evil Natural Water. (-2 chapters, 151 left).
Keep Tatsumaki fighting Gyoro-Gyoro, but lose everything with Saitama and Orochi. Lose Do-S reviving with monster blood and her rematch with Fubuki. Keep Amai Mask meeting Fuhrer Ugly. (-3 chapters, 148 left)
Keep Puri Puri meeting Garou, and Saitama meeting Flashy Flash. Lose EVERYTHING on the surface team, including Drive Knight vs. Nyan and Genos swooping in to take care of G5. Go straight to Puri Puri being thrashed by Garou and Superalloy Darkshine taking over. (-5 chapters, 143 left)
Keep Child Emperor meeting the disciples and Evil Natural Water. Edit out the mercenaries. Skip the scene of Genos reviewing the cadres' information as he runs in. Keep the New Fubuki Group stuff (yeah, we know it's a plot hole how they're facing Rover, but deal!). Remove all the Manako hijinks. None of this underground mine stuff. Cut straight to Pyskos fortifying herself to face Tatsumaki and Garou and Darkshine fighting (no change to chapter count)
Keep Tatsumaki and Psykos fighting. Ah, now you have a problem... Orochi. Hmmm, on second thoughts, CUT straight to Tatsumaki raising the base as Garou and Darkshine continue fighting. You'll be explaining Psykos's transformation as her new form, induced by the combination of the drug she drunk and the monster bodies we saw her have in the lab. (-2 chapters, 141 left)
Cut chapter 131, it's just complicated to explain why all these guys are in hospital. Alas, you're really stuck with 132 through 134, unless you want to cut the story to nonsense. You can skip 135, won't do to give away Amai Mask's 'secret'. Yes, Genos's power and Drive Knight's return really have come from nowhere but it can't be helped (-2 chapters, 139 left)
Trim away Blast telling Tatsumaki to protect her sister. You have to keep the pesky cyborgs dogging Psykos, unfortunately, in the name of any semblance of sense. You also have to keep Saitama and Flashy, but you could edit every panel of Manako possible. Remove the next chapter. Don't need this God stuff or Blast appearing too early. Remove the chapter after that. Put Tatsumaki lifting and throwing the base with the next one. The cadre have to come back, but Suiko and Suiryu can disappear. (-2 chapters, 137 left)
Remove 142 completely (that's where Drive Knight drops Genos). Cut the next chapter down harshly, either skip the bits with the mercenaries being tormented or call them civilians who didn't get away in time. Unfortunately, the rest of the heroes rallying and giving Black Sperm a tough time until Vomited Fuhrer Ugly appears has to stay. You can cut the Sword Master stuff as you never introduced them! Re-explain Atomic getting the Sun Blade as a flashback. (-1 chapter but a lot of hacking, 136 left)
You'll have to keep everything that happens afterwards until Saitama, Flashy Flash, and Manako appear on the surface without explanation Cut way back on Saitama running to Genos. Let's say he loses interest as soon as he realises that Genos is okay. Keep the three way fight between Flashy Flash, Garou, and Platinum Sperm, but remove everything to do with Evil Natural Ocean, the aircraft destroyer, and Sage Centipede. Phew, now Metal Bat can be disappeared too. Skip the next 4 chapters, in other words. (-4 chapters, 132 left)
Saitama vs Garou right off the bat. How brave are you feeling? If you're feeling very brave, remove all the planet bulging, volcano-destroying crap, remove all the interplanetary stuff, and have Saitama beat Garou somewhere far away from the heroes. Edit out Tareo's death, the deaths of the heroes and Genos's murder. Edit out the time travel. Edit out the explanations. Give Saitama his clothes back. Have him punch out Garou in one mighty hit and then pretend it's nothing to do with him. (-6 chapters if you're brave, 126 chapters left)
Goes without saying that chapter 170 has to go. (-1 chapter, 125 left).
Considering that I've only considered the first 170 chapters, you've removed 64 of them wholesale and butchered a lot of the rest. Nice one!
I'll stop here.
It's readable. There's holes you could drive a truck through. And those holes are going to be real problems later on in the story, but hey, at least it's sorta faithful to the webcomic, eh?
Isn't that what really matters?

What does Charborough Park, Dorset (above) and Drax Hall, Barbados (below) have in common?
Tumblr media
Both belong to the super-rich UK Conservative MP Richard Drax.
Also... slavery
Drax Hall Estate: is a still operating 621 acre sugar plantation owned by the Drax family since the 1640s. Dubbed a 'killing field' it is estimated that close to 30,000 enslaved African men, women and children died on the Drax Caribbean plantations over 200 years, while the Drax family made enormous profits. The family also part-owned at least two slave ships.
By 1832, shortly before slavery was abolished, there were 275 people enslaved on the plantation producing 300 tons of sugar and 140 puncheons of rum. Though slavery was abolished during 1833-1834, abuses still continued.
The Drax family meanwhile received compensation for the end of slavery. Records show John Sawbridge Erle-Drax was awarded ÂŁ4,293 12s 6d - worth ÂŁ3M today - for 189 slaves.
The Barbados MP Trevor Prescod commented that “The Drax family had slave ships. They had agents in the African continent and kidnapped black African people to work on their plantations here in Barbados. I have no doubt that what would have motivated them was that they never perceived us to be equal to them, that we were human beings. They considered us as chattels.”
The Drax family also expanded into Jamaica, but sold those estates in the 1850s.
Barbados and Jamaica are rightfully seeking reparations from the Drax family.
In 2021 it was claimed that the current Drax Hall workforce earns as little as ÂŁ24 a day (half the Barbados average wage), and the modest retirement bonus of workers has been axed.
Charborough Park: is a 7000 acre estate flanked by the longest brick boundary wall in England. Stretching for miles and consisting of nearly 3 million bricks, it's mockingly known as the Great Wall of Dorset.
The Hall is the ancestral and current home of the Drax family.
Tumblr media
Author Nick Hayes has commented that "this wall, surrounding the grounds of Charborough House ... was built by Richard Drax’s ancestor, John Sawbridge, who married into the Drax dynasty, and who was able to finance the build following a recent windfall from his sugar-cane estates in the Caribbean – although the money came not from his sugar, but from his slaves."
English plantation owners including the Drax family used the vast profits from slavery to buy land (once common land) back in England, which often came with a parliamentary seat before later reforms. So in other words the profits of slavery effectively provided their political careers, as they stole what was once public land.
Nick Hayes: "The interior of the Drax estate tells a silent story of what the colonialists did with their property. The purchase of land secured a firmer grip on power, not just in one lifetime, but for many generations to come. Farming, forestry, pleasure gardens, hunting, shooting – all of these became reliable sources of income, an accumulation of private profit in direct proportion to the dispossession of the commonwealth. In fact, what happened abroad – the mining of minerals, the rent on land, the dispossession of the locals – were colonial methods first practiced on English soil, as the landlords colonised the commons at home."
A further 125 properties in Dorset alone brings the total land ownership in the county to around 14000 acres. Drax owns other estates across the UK.
Tumblr media
Harrow educated Richard Drax is worth an estimated ÂŁ150 million. A far-right Tory MP (and sometime BBC journalist?!) since 2010 and the sixth of that family to be an MP, he is a rabid Brexiteer, opposed to such as covid lockdowns and the minimum wage. He was caught underpaying some of his Dorset employees in what was claimed an "error" - he seems to make many such "errors" such as failing to declare ownership of the Drax Estate as a member of parliament.
In 2010 Richard Drax stated that “I can’t be held responsible for something 300 or 400 years ago. They are using the class thing and that’s not what this election is about, it’s not what I stand for and I ignore it.” On this Nick Hayes commented "Blunt, but effective, especially since the education system and institutions of England have followed the same approach."
Whether Drax acknowledges it or not his position, his entire life, wealth and career is a consequence and benefit of the slave trade, a trade that ended less than 200 hundred years ago on his Barbados estate - which continues to exploit its workforce to the present.
David Comissiong, Barbados ambassador to the Caribbean Community, said: “This was a crime against humanity and we impose upon him and his family a moral responsibility to contribute to the effort to repair the damage.
You can’t simply walk away from the scene of the crime. They have a responsibility now to make some effort to help repair the damage.”
As an MP, Drax has supported lowering welfare benefits, ending educational financial support for 16 to 19-year-olds, and the imposition of the “bedroom tax” on poor council tenants. During an immigration debate in parliament Drax - the owner of a 7000 acre estate with little but a mansion complex built upon it stated “this country is full”.
And Drax is just one of many similar people in the UK (and beyond).

fic writer interview
Thank you @bitterflames for tagging me! this was fun <3
How many works do you have on AO3? currently 24
What’s your total AO3 word count? 189 321 words (more than I expected 👀)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1. Amour phew: 112 2. Mail from Ye Baiyi and other inconveniences: 107 3. Bed hair: 88 4. Lava Cake: 77 5. Rhythm of the night: 59 Lava cake is actually a surprise lol. I do not like this one very much.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! Even if it's just a comment with some hearts. I appreciate every interaction and I also know how it feels to create something for the void, that goes for commints too.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I'd say that's "Evening with an old friend". Or "keep me cold?" oh I forgot about "Puppet play". hmmm 🤔 XD you see, I wrote lots of angsty stuff ("point of no return" is surely the worst (tm), but it's a collage so I won't count it in)
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? That's "A ghost in the neon light", I think, at least out of the dark fics.
Do you write crossovers? no, not a fan of it at all
Have you ever received hate on a fic? not really, I got one passive-agressive comment from the XiYao troll back then, but apart from that I only get nice comments. one benefit of writing niche things, I guess :P
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? me, an ace, writes smut surprisingly often XDDDD, but only non-explicit
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge
Have you ever had a fic translated? yes, that silly little fic "Bed hair" got translated to Spanish
Have you ever co-written a fic before? no, and I'm not sure if I could do that
What’s your all-time favorite ship? oh, I can't really answer that, I love them all <333 And I'm sure there will be new ones. But XueYao was always the easiest to write for me!
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? hhhhhhhh ... I'll consider only the published WIPs, otherwise I'd have to cry XDDD "synchronize me with the night" is one of my faves and I really like to finish it someday :(((((
What are your writing strengths? that's a bit hard to say as an insider XDD I think I'm good at dialogues and I really like writing them, and my muse is a crack addict, so I thrive at funny things. otherwise ... I think I'm also good at being true to the original character traits even in a modern setting, but that's something others can judge better, I'd say
What are your writing weaknesses? to actually write of course, and also finishing things :)))) I mourn the times when I only wrote one-shots, but now I almost always get myself into multi chaps (multi as in no end in sight) - so I fall out of fandom until I can finish, or the lack of interaction gets to me, or something doesn't work out as I thought it would ... I deleted some unfinished fics that kept haunting me. it's sad, but I felt bad whenever I opened AO3
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? untranslatable things like suffixes are okay imo, and sometimes when two characters speak in a language that's foreign to the one from whose POV it's written for example, then it makes sense - otherwise I think it's not good for the reader's flow.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? SS-GB! that was before I fell into the cdrama trash bin
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? there are quite a few, I want to write something about the snow boys (as I call them XD) from My journey to you, Luo Mingxi/Linlang (Legend of Anle), mmmmmaybe Ning Yuanzhou/Yu Shisan (A journey to love), and I still haven't written Yuan Lang/Lize Palace Leader (Love and Redemption) even though they are very dear to me!!! they are so complicated and one of them doesn't have a name ffs :(
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? please don't make me choose between my children :))))))
tagging @moonstone-vibe @bitterfrosts @qinghe-s no pressure ofc and everyone else feel free to do it!

Mmmm for ur ask game a few days ago!!
🌫️- How many people are in your system
🌊- What's everyone's favorite colors?
☂️- Most common fronters?
☔- Collective pronouns?
💦- Everyone's pronouns?
Thanks for the ask! We only keep our count for active/non-dormant members, which is currently 19 according to Simply Plural. Our total count is kept on PluralKit, which is at 189.
Our main fronters are me (Alfred), England, China, Japan, Italy and Romano. This has been pretty consistent through our system history, any deviations likely being when the rest of the main family used to front more.
Our collective pronouns are he/they, with he/him preferred when speaking to our singletsona, and they/them when referring to us as a system, but we like both either way!
As for the two remaining questions, here's the full list based on our active members! (A few names have been hidden for privacy)
Alfred - he/him - Blue
Alice - she/her - Light blue
Angel - fluid pronouns - Pink
Athena - she/her - Yellow
Canada - they/them - Red
China - any pronouns - Red
🍊 - they/she - Orange
England - he/him - Purple
Isav - he/they - Cyan
Japan - he/him - Pink
Mica - they/them - Blue
Migi - she/they - Cyan
Niko - they/them - Cyan
Nile- she/they - Black
Romano - he/him - Red
🖊 - she/her - Black
Spain - he/him - Red
Tighnari - he/him - Green
Italy - he/him - Green
Funny thing, just last night we actually happened to make a fun little scheme for this exact same question! Red tied with cyan/light blue, the latter of which happens to be pretty much our system signature color!

i'm not pro 4n4 and i encourage recovery (i'm also not fatphobic, so there will be no fatspo or meanness on my blog directed at other fat people). i just need a safe space where i can share how i'm feeling and connect with people who are going through something similar
this is also somewhat of a weight loss diary, so i'll post updates regularly about how it's going
i'm not restricting too heavily since i'm bigger rn and can eat a bit more and still lose weight (it's also hard for me cause i live with my partner and roommates)
currently my goal is ~1000-1400 a day, but i'd like to find ways to get that lower as i lose more weight
i've been going to the gym off and on a couple times a week (my schedule is busy with classes and work, but i gotta get locked in with fitness)
my lowest weight is 171.6 and i'm 5'3"

Case File Tokyo 1954: The Beginning of the Age of Monsters
"I can hardly believe what has just happened. Now it seems Tokyo has no defense."
~ Steve Martin, International Correspondent, United World News.
13 August, 1954. 19:05 PM JST
Japan would be faced with an incident that would lead to one of the most destructive attacks on Japanese soil, and the start of the Age of Monsters. That incident would be the disappearance of the fishing vessel Eiko-Maru. Hours later, a rescue vessel, Bingo-Maru, would suffer the same fate.
Japan Maritime Safety's investigation would eventually lead them to Odo Island that resided near the location of these incidents, and shortly after, the discovery of Monster 01.
Monster 01, or Godzilla as the locals of Odo Island call him, would be targeted by Japanese Naval Forces via depth charges in hopes of ridding him before it could cause any further damage. Unfortunately, this would only lure the beast to Tokyo Bay. Godzilla would first make landfall at Shinagawa, trampling all in his path, shrugging off artillery and canon fire, causing a deadly train wreck, and destroying the Yatsuyama Bridge before returning to the sea.
In the following days, Japan Self Defense Forces would erect a barb-wire fence that would be powered with 50,000 volts of electricity, in hopes of electrocuting Godzilla to death.
At 19:30 JST, 20 August, 1954, Godzilla would make landfall again at Shibaura. With baited breath, Defense Forces would train their turrets upon the beast as he walked closer and closer to the electrical wires. The great beast would bellow in pain as the electricity coursed through it's body. Explosion after explosion would sound as each shot hit their mark. But it would all be for naught as the beast's fins would glow an eerie pale blueish white, and from his maw, beam of light would burst forth, melting the the steel towers in an instant. Nothing could stop Godzilla's wrath.
In the following moments, Shibaura, Shinagawa, Minato, Chiba, and Ginza Wards would be transformed into a sea of flame. Godzilla would then continue his warpath North, beyond the metropolis and along the Tohoku Rail Line.
The JSDF would eventually formulate a plan to save Sendai from the same fate by utilizing jet-fighters and flares to lure Godzilla back out to sea as the city would undergo a total blackout order. This strategy is still in use today and has thankfully had more success than failures.
But no one would ever forget what happened to Tokyo. The ramifications of this disaster would be felt for years to come. Godzilla would still be at large. Japan would be gripped with fear and panic. And this would only be the first of many monsters to appear in the PacRim nations and territories.

If you made it down this far, you may have noticed that events begin to alter towards the end. Well, I did say that the Age of Monsters was supposed to be an original timeline that would borrow events from the films, albeit altered, for certain time frames. This is one of them. There currently isn't an Oxygen Destroyer and there is currently only one Godzilla in this project.

Aesthetics from 1980 to current day. Which is your favorite?
Memphis is the classic liminal "Feels nostalgic even though I've never been here" vibe. No wonder they built a whole umbrella term of genres out of this.
Was born in time to experience Y2K. 3D animation was booming and everyone was scrambling for ringtones. Good times.
Frutiger Aero is my guilty pleasure. Although it looks both outdated and not old enough to be nostalgic, it may even be my favorite due to being just the right age for that aesthetic to really wow me.
Nothing good to say about flat design tho. Can't wait until that's over. xD Edit: I'd like to clarify it's totally fine if you like the flat design aesthetic yourself. It's just not my cup of tea ^^;

It's so funny to me to think about what answering questions about Perihelion must be like for the crew. How do you answer any questions normally when your ship is low-key some kind of vaguely eldritch being and high-key a total asshole? Like how does that conversation even go?
Some Corporation Rim guy, idk: Your ship's designation is... *Checks notes on the feed* the Perihelion?
Peri's crew, very pointedly ignoring it in the feed: Ship. Yes. Our ship Perihelion. The Perihelion. A ship. Definitely. Mmhm.
Some Corporation Rim guy, idk: And it has a standard, low-level bot pilot?
Peri's crew, now VERY pointedly ignoring it in the feed: Exactly. Just a normal, standard, totally average, run-of-the-mill, typical, not superintelligent at all bot pilot.
Some Corporation Rim guy, idk: What?
Peri's crew, sweating a little because it's now pointedly silent: What?
Some Corporation Rim guy, idk: And no weapons aboard, correct?
Peri's crew, sweating a little as it helpfully supplies a number in the feed that definitely includes a "debris deflection array," some pathfinders that may or may not currently be armed, and a SecUnit who's currently watching episode 189 of Sanctuary Moon for the 282nd time: Nope, no weapons. None. We cut our food with spoons. It's a University tradition.
Meanwhile ART is probably all up in the station feed already, busy trading media and hacking governor modules to collect more SecUnits while Murderbot backseat codes its hacks.

Maximizing Sales for E-commerce Brands during Peak Festive Season
When we people feel joyous during the peak festive period, retailers and businesses get a fair chance to maximize their sales. From e-commerce giants like Amazon and eBay to brick-and-mortar stores, everyone gears up to make the most of this period. In fact, studies show that holiday sales account for nearly 20% of total annual retail sales in the U.S., with e-commerce sales alone reaching a staggering $189 billion during the 2020 holiday season.
Tumblr media
This period sees an uptick in consumer spending, as shoppers hunt for gifts, festive decorations, and exclusive holiday deals. It’s not just retailers who benefit; businesses across various sectors such as electronics, fashion, home goods, and even services like travel and hospitality see an increase in sales. The competition is huge, and the key to standing out is in strategic planning and creative marketing.
In this blog, we will explore how you can leverage the festive season to improve your product visibility and drive maximum revenue growth. From understanding your audience to introducing exciting offers, we’ll cover everything you need to know to make this festive season your most successful yet.
Understand your audience To truly maximize your sales during the festive season, it’s essential to start with a deep understanding of your audience. Knowing who your customers are, what they want, and how they behave can help you tailor your strategies to meet their needs effectively.
Segment Your Audience Begin by segmenting your audience based on demographics, purchase history, and behavior. Identify key segments such as loyal customers, high spenders, and seasonal shoppers. This segmentation allows you to create targeted marketing campaigns that resonate with each group.
Analyze Past Data Use data from previous festive seasons to identify trends and patterns. What products were the bestsellers? Which marketing channels drove the most traffic? Understanding these insights can help you replicate successful strategies and avoid past mistakes. For instance, if last year’s data shows a spike in sales of tech gadgets, you might want to focus more on that category this year.
Stay Relevant Understanding your audience also means staying relevant to their current needs and preferences. This festive season, consumers might be looking for convenience, such as quick delivery options, or eco-friendly products. Stay attuned to these trends and adapt your offerings accordingly.
By taking the time to understand your audience, you can create targeted, relevant, and compelling marketing strategies that not only catch attention but also convert interest into sales. This foundational step sets the stage for all other strategies and ensures that your festive season efforts are aligned with what your customers truly want.
Website Optimization- The Best you do, the more you attract! Have you ever noticed those creative graphics and festive themes on web stores during Rakhi, Diwali, Christmas, or any other festival? They’re not just there to look pretty—they play a huge role in grabbing attention and making the shopping experience enjoyable. During the festive season, your e-commerce store needs to shine brighter than ever to attract and retain customers.
Add Festive Cheer Start by decking out your website with festive touches. Think about incorporating holiday-themed banners, graphics, and color schemes. These elements put shoppers in the holiday spirit. A festive design not only makes your site look appealing but also signals to visitors that you have special offers and products perfect for the season.
User-Friendly Navigation Clear menus, well-defined categories, and a simple layout help customers find what they’re looking for without frustration. During the busy festive season, when people are shopping for gifts and deals, an intuitive design keeps them engaged and reduces the chances of them leaving your site empty-handed.
Speed and Performance Nobody likes waiting, especially during the holidays when everyone’s in a hurry. A slow website can drive customers away faster than you can say “Happy Holidays.” Make sure your site loads quickly by optimizing images, using a content delivery network (CDN), and keeping your design clean and lightweight. Shoppers should be able to browse and buy without any annoying delays.
Induce FOMO with exciting discounts and offers During the festive season, everyone is on the lookout for the best deals and special offers. This is the perfect time for your e-commerce store to shine by offering exclusive festive discounts that not only attract customers but also encourage them to buy more.
Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) Offers BOGO deals are a crowd favorite and can drive massive sales. They’re particularly effective for products that people buy in multiples or like to share with friends and family. For instance, a BOGO offer on festive candles can entice customers to stock up for themselves and their loved ones.
Free Shipping and Returns You can change your business game forever by offering free shipping and hassle-free returns to your buyers during the festive season. High shipping costs are one of the main reasons for cart abandonment. By offering free shipping, you remove this barrier and make it easier for customers to complete their purchases. Similarly, a flexible return policy can give customers the confidence to buy, knowing they can return items if needed.
