A P-38! Or is it!?! Both no and yes! The Walther factory got taken over by France at the end of WW2 and it was already making P-38s so the Manurhin company took it, and most of its employees over and started right back up making the pistols. Only a few minor differences like the finish, other than that the Manurhin P-1 is entirely the same pistol! #manurhin #oldguns #ww2 #p1 #frenchguns #curioandrelic #pewpewlife #pewpewprofessional #bang #bangbang #bangbangbang #gunsdaily #weaponfanatics #gunchannels #pew #secondamendment #2a #molonlabe #rtsp (at RTSP - Range, Firearms & Training)

Had a rare occurrence today. Caught both a hangfire and a squib in the same video in a sharps rifle. Our best guess is the primers got wet or corroded somehow. Not a huge deal, but we couldn't shoot it for the rest of the day and will need more ammo. It is a good safety reminder to check the bore if you ever hear a strange sound after firing. #nopew #nopewpew #sharpsriflecompany #sharpsrifle #civilwar #civilwarreenactment #squib #hangfire #rtsp #rtsponline #pewpewlife #pewpewprofessional #2a #molonlabe #gunsdaily #curioandrelicfirearms #curioandrelic #civilwarguns (at New Jersey)

It's a Walther model 4! This little guy may not be a world famous spy gun like the PPK, nor is it a World War Two side arm like the P38. But if this pistol didn't exist neither of those two would! After the treaty of Versailles banned most firearms manufacturer of military arms many companies folded. They were either making all machine guns or rifles. Sporting gun concerns didn't weather WW1 so well, they weren't allowed to make anything BUT military arms. So this little pistol allowed Walther to just keep chugging along. They sold it before WW1 as a concealed carry pistol during WW1, as an officers pistol, then after WW1 as a police and concealed carry pistol again, dodging all of the new gun laws enforced on the Weimar Republic as pistols weren't considered weapons of war. So while it's rather unremarkable as a handgun design, this little gun kept one of the worlds most legendary small arms companies in business where so many others fell apart. #walther #oldguns #pewpewlife #pewpewlifestyle #curioandrelic #worldwarone #32acp #guncollector #gunsofinstagram — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2oJkr6D

A bubbaed mauser 71/85! This is a big bore, blackpowder tube fed bolt action. One of the designs that made Mauser even more of a renowned military rifle designer. #mauser #boltaction #blackpowder #boltactionrifle #guncollector #guncollection #oldguns #pewpewlife #pewpewlifestyle #pewpewprofessional #curioandrelic #milsurp #militarysurplus #gunsdaily #bigbore #shooting #shootingrange #rangeday — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2Cn4b4q

A P14 came by the other day! This is an interesting rifle. The British replaced their single shot martini Henry rifles with the Magazine Lee Metford rifle (MLM). In the Boer wars they had significant issues with these guns and their Magazine Lee Enfileds (MLE, same gun just now firing smokeless powder with different rifling). Impressed by the Boers Mauser rifles they intended to replace the Lee Enfields with a new gun. This gun would be stripper clip fed. Mauser action, have a long range volley sight, a rear peep sight, and be chambered for the new .270 cartridge they made. They adopted this gun in 1913 immediately before WW1. With the war kicking off they realized they couldn't supply their military with a new weapon and ammo, but were still desperate for anything they could get. So they contacted Winchester and Remington to make them the same rifle in .303 British so at least the ammunition would be easily supplied. These guns had lots of problems though, and were only really used in training. After the US joined the war the rifles were made in 30-06 and were used by US soldiers entering the war. The 30-06 version, the M1917 (also called the P17, or the American Enfield) actually became the most used rifle by US troops in the war. More than 3 times as many 1917 rifles were used than Springfields. This particular rifle had a mashup of parts from each factory, suggesting it was heavily used. #rifles #pewpewlife #pewpewprofessional #curioandrelic #oldguns #ww1 #thegreatwar #303british #shootingrange — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2s9oLBh
