But this shouldn't deter you from making a daytrip there: few places beat it for sheer location – its hilltop position is stunning – and fairy-tale medievalism, which you can greatly appreciate by climbing the bell tower of the Church of San Fortunato.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The rain certainly didn't dampen my spirits that afternoon as I was treated to two rainbows at the same time—a rare wonder of nature.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ To get to Todi, take the E619 bus from Terni or the E012 from Perugia. And knowing how it works helps inject mood and emotion into photographs as well as capture impeccable detail.⁣ ⁣ What I've discovered too, though, is that a good ounce of luck is needed because, obviously, natural light isn't something we can control. But we can manipulate the direction and quality of natural light, particularly during 'The Golden Hour'.⁣ ⁣ The Golden Hour is essentially the first hour of sunlight after sunrise and the remaining hour of sunlight before sunset. This is when the sun is low in the sky, casting a soft and diffused light on the subject you are focusing on.⁣ ⁣ Ironically, I took this photo a couple of hours before sunset, so this isn't a glowing example (pardon the pun!) of a Golden Hour shot. However, what I intended to prove here is that even on a miserable, cloudy day there is a slim chance of sunlight beaming through the dark clouds and changing the dynamic of the subject.⁣ ⁣ In a way, moments like these prove even more challenging than in the Golden Hour because you are given an even shorter window of opportunity to capture stunning shots. Had I spent too much time framing the shot and fiddling with the camera setting, the sunlight would have diminished and I would have missed that golden chance.⁣ ⁣ The result is a contrast between the light and dark elements in this photograph that is as impactful and effective as it is mesmerising and magical. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 18mm | 1/25s | f/6.3 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 25/10/2020.⁣ ⁣ Scheggino is a small village, with a splendid historic centre, situated in the valley of the River Nera.⁣ ⁣ In addition to its extraordinary alleys and views, Scheggino preserves the Church of San Nicola that you can visit and observe the fine frescoes inspired by the style of Spagna, a pupil of the Italian Renaissance painter Pietro Perugino.⁣ ⁣ Here's a snapshot of 'la Porta Valcasana', the main gateway to Scheggino. Not only is it an amazing example of medieval architecture, but it also provides much-needed shelter on rather rainy days like yesterday. At least the plants were getting watered!⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Take a train from Rome or Ancona to Terni. Then catch the E433 or E621 bus to Scheggino.
