so I never even thought about a Lexi-Shiala ship before but between reading Surface Tension and finding your art.... it's become one of my favourite ME ships (also it's uncannily like my girlfriend and I in a lot of ways, except if I had a leather jumpsuit like Shiala does I'm pretty sure she'd be constantly stealing it) so.... thank you for giving us the amazing ME content we need! :D

Lexi/Shiala started out as a random idea from an unrelated topic, but it’s grown over time through many discussions in our server. We’ve come to love the dynamics of the relationship, so much that it got me started on drawing them just a few days after it was first mentioned (I, too, relate to certain feelings that were explored in that fic, which is the whole basis for how they came together). Very much glad to hear that you like them as well, and thank you ^^

For those who haven’t read or are curious, I highly recommend Surface Tension by @theivorytowercrumbles​​. It’s currently the only fic in the tag, but it’s a damn good one if you want to explore this rare pair.It’s without a doubt one of my favorites.

aside from being all-around adorable and heartbreaking and I love it, your lexi/shiala stuff has just slightly seriously reawakened my appreciation for commando leathers because YOU DRAW THEM REALLY WELL sorry if this is weird

It’s not weird! I’m just making them less skintight so it’s just a minor change, but thank you for enjoying the leathers :D

@jt-boi-n7​ Just to add on an explanation for the conversation in the drawing (developed this scene separately based on [REDACTED #3] and [REDACTED #4]’s ideas), Shiala saying sorry here refers to reasons under Trinity canon; Lexi saying “thank you for the company” refers to the intimacy they shared in their time together. 

“For understanding” draws from the mission in ME:A where you meet Lexi in Vortex (logged as Lexi T’Perro: Bottom of a Bottle) where she explains her break from relationships due what Peebee said about only seeing them as experiments. Lexi in that mission says all her exes have said something of the sort, but in this case Shiala was the only one who understood and shared her passion for work. And there’s the whole ‘is it fair to be feeling this way’ because you’re not supposed to catch feels while in a relationship that started out as a work arrangement, and neither one wants to hurt the other because there’s a friendship that’s already been built.

The events surrounding their meeting and separation are still tentative (kind of, I think, I’m not sure either, maybe) and the rest assumes compliance of the Trinity and Tessera series.
